Not putting limits on yourself to prevent cheesing and playing hardcore so the stakes are always high and the journey turns from minmaxing boredom into a real adventure.
You should play on Chillax. I was miserable playing either of the other storytellers because the game is too intent on interrupting you with constant raids and mech hives. It's more fun to set your own goals and actually be able to leave your base with your pawns for trading and shit.

I don't feel the same with Long War.
As for vanilla, I started to enjoy it once you learn the ways to break the game to minimize your casualties

I gather Torahs,Talmuds and troony flags as I go and burn them. I also burn the libraries after I loot because 80% of the book gen is from the feminist author they added. The second part is aggravating but the first is fine FFS, one of my favorite things about CDDA was the RL shit. Burning the last remaining vestiges of israeliness from the fave of the earth while they and all their golems are shambling around uselessly sounds more like the beginning of the world than the end.

It's too easy to die in the early game. And being able to get infected from any scratch thanks to RNG? Complete horseshit. A design choice made to compensate for the fact they haven't made a mid or end-game.

I spent 260 hours accomplishing the things I wanted in my playthrough.
I've got around 200 hours without ever building a base.

The bosses of this game in general filtered me. They straight up break the rules of the game and it's horse shit.
This addon is actually easier than base XCOM2 because of all the added power cards, and the easier to manage Avatar project countdown.
You can frick up the bosses with the new units too.

Kingdom Two Crowns. It feels so slow to play and I get bored which is a shame because the game seems neat but I just cannot have "fun" with it.
