These facilities are peculiar. They replace the big side draw of Hoenn in an attempt to prep you for the Frontier, but they're so limited in scope and the rewards you get are so shit that they're not worth touching.
I feel like Emerald would've been better off if they were staggered off the contest towns or coexisted and gave an appropriate reward for the area + 1BP for every successful run. Just give some sort of text from Scott being like 'these will be useful later trust me bro' to explain why you'd bother collecting them pre-Frontier.

Gen 6
O Powers
Funnily enough the good version was in gen 5. They made powers worse by adding a recharge to it.
i can understand not wanting to have a bunch of contest halls throughout the region that are functionally identical but putting the one single hall all the way over in lilycove was pants-on-head stupid
It makes some sense cause the museum that has the ultimate reward for contests is there but it is pretty lame to have to wait that long to play contests.
It's not TOO awful considering you still have two gyms, the second half of the main story and the E4 afterwards (not to mention the extensive postgame), but it's still odd that they stripped out being able to practice for Lilycove.
On that note I was surprised to find out that they added Kanto/Johtomons as postgame opponents in contests for Emerald. I wish they did more with that. Like a special trophy for your secret base that you'd get if you completed Master Rank contests post-E4.
why? by the time you reach the first contest hall in RS you can't even participate because it's Hyper rank.
Yeah these tents are pretty goofy and pointless, I feel like it would have been better to just make all contest ranks besides master rank available in any contest hall, master rank being lilycove exclusive (you can also do lower ranks there too).
I have basically never entered a battle tent since I first played the game back in 2005, where I entered one once to see what was in them and then never again. Just means slightly less content (and a visually ugly unfitting distraction) in the towns.
>+ 1BP for every successful run.
God that would have been so much better. Like you could arrive at the Battle Frontier and already have enough points to buy one or two useful items. Make that initial grind a little easier.
Game Freak are fricking moronic.
>ITT: half-baked features you would've liked to see more of
What are more than half the features Game Freak dropped because they deem it as an experiment or "region-exclusive so the game can feel unique"?
Can you really count riding pokemon?
i think this should be updated
and maybe with each entry having a list of games the feature was in
>kids have no attention span
>let's remove the short minigames
Japs lmao
You can add a bunch more
- Battle Royal
- fishing
- side quests
- buildings you can enter
Depending if the Indigo Disk has something similar or not with Terastal mons: Expeditions from the Crown Tundra.
Time excursions.
Imagine a game with all of these kek it would be like fortnite or some shit
Super Training, Vs. Seeker, and HGSS's bottom screen are the only ones that made me actively angry to see them gone
imagine the KINO if any pokemong game has all of these...pain
BRING BACK MEGAEVOLUTIONS, Z-MOVES, AND TRIPLE BATTLES!
anyone know if there's an emerald version that restores things like the contest halls and steven as the champion from Ruby/Sapphire?
I think the point of these was just to make some of the new content available early so players could get a preview of what they were playing the exact same game over again for.
