megaton hammer can be used to open up holes in the ground to grottos

>In the German version of Ocarina of Time, if you speak to Princess Zelda while wearing the Keaton mask, she will say: >"Was bist du denn? Ach, du bist eines dieser goldigen kleinen Taschenmonster, oder?"
Which roughly translates into:
>"What are you? Oh, you're one of those golden little pocket monsters, right?"
Referencing the visual similarities between the mask and Pikachu.
It theorized to be either him or the kid in the graveyard
The theory is for the guard watching over those pots in the room where the Poe guy is in the future, not the guard that dies after Ganondorf tries to kidnap Zelda.

everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears. but this also applies to the birds in lon lon ranch at night, a huge one appears if you kill a bunch. also applies to the leevers in the desert
>everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears
yeah but did you know there's no upper cap on the size? Normally the only cap is how short night is, but if you hack for infinite night, the bigger skeleton keeps growing and growing. Eventually it grows to the size of a mountain and soon after, the game crashes due to it being too big.
>everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears.
If you keep doing it after the first one, even larger Stalchildren will appear. The calculation the scales up the giant stalchild doesn't actually have an upper limit, but it's not really possible to do more than 3 or 4 cycles per night.

More like autism ammo. Like when I whine about non-integer scaling in "retro" shooter graphic assets.
You can trick the game to get all golden skultulas easily as soon as you get the boomerang. Go to hyrule castle as a kid, open the hole near the tree were you find malon father, kill the golden skultula and throw your boomerang to grab it but before it comes back to you get out of the whole. The game thinks you got one but the golden skultula is still inside so you can do this until you reach the max then all golden skultulas in the game will disappear.
I didn't realize this until just a few years ago, but redeads are blind
if you move slowly/quietly around them, they wont attack you. I had to dig out my old N64 to try it out when I read it to test it out cause I couldn't believe I was totally unaware of something that significant

.
In Super Mario RPG, if you use the Mystery Egg 10 times as Peach while wearing the B'Tub Ring, a sheep will hatch and you will get the Lamb's Lure. This lets you transform one enemy into a sheep.
If you use the Lamb's Lure 48 times, it becomes Sheep Attack which turns all enemies into sheep.
These are actually really cool, never knew about them before
Maybe in randomizer you'd be expected to do this, but you can't get enough Skulltulas to get the giant wallet as child. Blue Fire is 300, remember.

>3 in deku >2 in kokiri >2 in lost woods >3 in lake hylia (and one of these needs a precise jumpslash to get) >2 in lon lon ranch >1 in hyrule castle town >1 in castle town area >1 on death mountain trail >1(?) in goron city (might need adult) >1 in gerudo valley >5 in kakariko
I don't think I missed any, so you're 8 short of the Giant Wallet in that case, since 20 gets you the Stone of Agony.
>it's just overworld traversal is so goddamned slow and the warp spots are constantly on the outer edges of the map
I love OoT but I'll agree with you on that
Playing an OoT rando without bombs can be brutal just because of overworld transversing alone
Even though I know superslides, it's still a pain in the dick, especially since turning during them is nearly impossible. I usually have to hold down fast forward since it takes so long to run anywhere, Gerudo Fortress and Zora Fountain being the most remote.
My mental note for one bomb super slides is shield dropping a bomb, rolling forward, backflip, and waiting exactly one second before shield rolling to pick up the bomb
Adult and child are different and they take some practice but you can get it down to almost consistent 1 bomb use
HESSing is another story entirely that I can't comprehend at all along with weird shots

>tfw too dumb to vineclip
It's easier than videos on it make it seem I recommend looking up just basic vine clips with bombs first so you know what exactly you're suppose to be doing then just apply that to the skulltula in BotW
It works in several grottos iirc as long as your boomerang can reach the skulltula and you have enough time to get on the exit pad
You can also just dupe the skulltula in lost woods by bomb hovering over the loading zone for it then entering and exiting the room several times
Too many times though and the game will crash
If you kill Ghoma with a jump attack, you'll inexplicably take damage upon the hit. This alone birthed a whole slew of speedrunning autism that no sane person actually cares about.
When a This Man is hired, he produces high quality visuals for one game and immediately dies.
Such is the cost and eternal struggle of such artistic vision.
I'm going to tell you an embarassing secret. I'll admit to my friends I find anime and vidya girls sexy, but I will fricking take to my grave the fact that I used to be in love with Malon when I was a kid and I used to just stand in front of her and listen to her N64 singing.

My extent was where the first "hentai" I ever saw was a lovingly-edited pic f the entire Lon Lon crew naked on AOL Antagonist, just censored because haha wouldn't this be a funny picture idea lol. I spent 2 hours in CorelDraw uncensoring Malon and kept it on a floppy hidden in an old math book
>Just the other day, my boss unwittingly reveals in conversation that he thought Daphne from Scooby Doo was "the sexy one" when he was younger >Other employees openly mock him for it, "she's a cartoon!" >Meanwhile a guy who is sitting on nearly a TB of fat anime titty pics looks somewhat nervous >"ha ha, yeah that's odd..."

JUSTIN BAILEY has no special meaning, it wasn't the name of anyone involved in Metroid and it wasn't specifically coded into the game.
It was just a flukish guess by someone at a password that happened to work and give good items so it spread around and because everyone's go-to password.
That one does screwy shit with most emulators since it causes an illegal instruction. The Switch's official emulator crashes with an error message.
Kid Icarus had a password that did something similar in first run carts but the Switch app uses the updated rom that changed the password checking logic so it won't work on that version.
>That one does screwy shit with most emulators since it causes an illegal instruction.
is it similar to the BBB code in top gear 3000? if you input it on snes9x you'll get a buggy ending.
Maybe. A lot of games didn't have good failsafe checkers for passwords so a lot of jank would work on games that were more lenient about what counted as a 'real' password.
As an example, the Metal Gear password FRICKM E1111 11111 11111 11111 is most likely the reason almost all future NES games past it's release were forced to remove vowels.
yeah passwords back in the day was mostly instructions how the game should build shit so many combinations could build interdasting stuff instead while still being considered as a true and honest password for the game's internal system.
maybe it's how the emulators render these instructions that get it to be fricky shit? i don't own a TG3000 card nor my uncle's nes work anymore so i can't really check the BBB password on a nintendo system.

Pretty sure solar jetman has a password like that which gives you everything and does some weird things.
While nowhere near of a complex password system, there was a password in Mega Man 7 you could input that would give you access to all 8 Robot Masters off the bat (instead of needing to beat the first four to access the next four like usual), but would supposedly result in MM7 carts giving invalid passwords for a while after.
I hear this code can damage an NES console, how true is that? It seems bullshit that a screwy glitchy password can damage a console but I don't want to test it and mess up my great condition NES in the process.
I remember watching a youtube video that 'chronicled' the story of the 'real' Justin Bailey
Self-proclaimed pervert with a fetish for pixelated flesh
Claimed in SM2 that Peach had a dick under her the folds of her dress
video ended with the nintendo killteam coming for him

A neat little thing about Ice Arrows is that you can shoot those spike traps that move across the floor to stop them from moving for a while which is very handy right before you get to the boss in the Water Temple
This was confirmed later in Hyrule Historia. Dude didn't just get lost in the woods and become one, he literally lived a full life and died without Hyrule ever knowing what he did because he undid it by going back in time.
I think his actual appearance is the wolf spirit, then he can just take whatever appearance he wants inside of the training dreams.
He probably picked a Stalfos because it's human-shaped, and it'd otherwise freak TPP Link out if he saw that the dead guy training him looked exactly like him.
In MM you can shoot shoot Sakon with the bow when he robs the bomb lady and he gets blown up. You get nothing from the old woman and since he's dead you can't continue Kafei's sidequest.
In TP if you toss the bone next to the dog behind the STARS tent he comes back with hearts and rupees.
In BotW, you can use magnesis and a large weapon to provide Link shade in the desert.

a troony spent 20000 hours speedrunning the game so hard that they figured out how to write code by moving around in the game and wrote pong instead of doing something useful like playing ONE (1) other game ever or programming another game
>the speedrun troons found a way to do the ebin credits skip in PM64 by StopNSwapping to OOT, doing their shit there, then swapping back to PM64.
Now imagine if they used their autism for something actually meaningful.
I'm going to guess code injection by glitching the game and fricking with memory. People do the same thing with N64 games by swapping cartridges and shit.
>In short: I manipulate where the moving objects (sprites) are located or where they despawn, then I swap the item in Yoshi's mouth with a flying ?-block (thus the yellow glitched shell) and using a glitch (stunning) to spawn a sprite which isn't used by SMW and since it tries to jump to the sprite routine location, it indexes everything wrong and jumps to a place I manipulated earlier with the sprites (OAM) and because of the P-Switch it jumps to controller registers and from there the arbitrary code execution is started.
No, because Mario world isn't powerful enough. HOWEVER: Yoshi's Island has the Super FX2 chip which is shared with only one other game, the SNES port of DOOM. Coincedentally, Yoshi's Island also has that same Mario World glitch which is called "arbitrary code execution". So theoretically it's possible to code DOOM into Yoshi's Island.
>I asked a speedrunner about this years ago on Youtube asking if he could try doing that >"that sounds pretty cool, I'll have to do it!" >he never did it
a troony spent 20000 hours speedrunning the game so hard that they figured out how to write code by moving around in the game and wrote pong instead of doing something useful like playing ONE (1) other game ever or programming another game
how the frick does somebody "write code" just by throwing around turtle shells and jumping of yoshi. There is no possible way a human can program the game snake and pong with "snake" and "pong" written in the name just by playing mario. Thats bullshit. The games already existed they just glitched their way in to a menu that lets them play it. I recently wrote pong and snake for a python class and there is just no way you can do that just with only mario hopping around for a couple minutes.
Tool Assisted Speedrun, meaning that all the inputs that are happening were pre-programmed by someone, instead of an actual human performing them. So the people figured out you can glitch code around, figured out how the code responded, and then they can pull shit like that off
There's a glitch that makes the game do a jump command to a ram address and it starts reading sprite x and y coordinates as assembly. Usually it crashes the game but if you get sprites to despawn at the right x and y coordinates (it's tas only, obviously) you "write" a program in ram.
Also, it's assembly, not python, so every command is 3 characters long. It's a lot more do-able then you think.
ok this is a little bit more believable then. I thought people were saying a person just did this on the fly.

It's called arbitrary code execution and there's a number of games where you can do it.
This is the best explanation of it I've ever seen:
A couple of years ago speedrunners figured out how to do it in Ocarina of Time and it involved despawning objects during room transitions, glitching the name entry in the file select to remove the character limit, and using rubber bands to hold the control stick in precisely the right spot on a controller plugged into the player 3 slot.

you can toss alcohol in the water in rdr2 to make fish bite more
if you wait a moment when you get in a car in gta4 your character puts on their seatbelt on reducing the chance you go flying out the windshield in a crash
you can cycle back to the beginning of your item lineup in elden ring/dark souls by holding the direction
You need to connect a Yellow Cartridge with Starter Pikachu to get Pikachu on the minigame. For Scizor, Omanyte and Girafarig any other GBC gen 2 cartridge will do.
Did you know? In 1994, shortly after its release, Al Sharpton ordered Nintendo to recall every copy of Donkey Kong Country due to the portrayal of African American men as jungle dwelling mammals. When Nintendo told him the game was actually about gorillas, he went bananas.
I'd rather do a ball busting OoT rando than a tame MM one
Not trying to knock MM or anything but the way it's structure just makes rando a pain in the ass for me
Personally OoT's is the weaker one to me. Nothing against it, it's just overworld traversal is so goddamned slow and the warp spots are constantly on the outer edges of the map. At least in MM i can always use the Bunny Hood or Goron Mask, and it has more warps placed in more convenient places.

Did you know that Dark Forces has stealth mechanics? Enemies have a vision factor and they have a harder time detecting you when you're standing in darkness, and it's not even binary. It's based on the actual light level and enemy proximity, and which way they're facing.Literally orders of magnitude more advanced than some games that people claim are "stealth games" -and the system isn't even useful in Dark Forces for gameplay. It's just there because the devs thought that it makes real world sense for darkness to make something harder to see.
playable in DOSbox but the reverse engineered source port is playable. its v0.9 which fixed all the audio and is considered feature complete, the only thing left to do for v1.0 is a QoL thing for GPU accelerated 3D which wasn't in the original game.

In Kingdom Hearts 2 you can spam triangle to do reaction commands as soon as they appear, but there is unused coding in the game that would cause Sora to be stunned for one second if he ever presses triangle during combat with no reaction command available. There's no animation paired to go along with it. In final mix the unused code is gone.
In Devil May Cry 5, in Gunslinger style as Dante with dual rocket launchers equipped, holding the Gunslinger button will make him say 'two was overkill anyway' and drop one of the rocket launchers on the ground. It can be picked back up again.
In Banjo Kazooie, if you lose a game to Mr Vile, it's possible to exit the room before he chomps you if you happen to be close to the exit. He really is chasing you down, it's not just for show.
In Pokemon, using Defense Curl will double the damage of Rollout. Also, Pokemon who have used Minimize take double damage from Stomp.
In Spelunky, you can give golden heads to shopkeepers instead of taking them to the exit. Just set one down in their shop and they'll pay you the same amount.
In Bayonetta, hold the taunt button to perform a longer, unique taunt. This is useful for getting health back with the accessory that replenishes a little health when taunting - it occurs three times during this long taunt.
>In Pokemon, using Defense Curl will double the damage of Rollout. Also, Pokemon who have used Minimize take double damage from Stomp.
I remember there being zero mention of this kind of mechanics in the games, yet in Stadium 2 they have an dedicated section to learn exactly stuff like this.
In Nioh 2, Rokugezo and Kin-ki have the same properties as cannonballs and flaming arrows and can be used to break boundary objects and sequence break a few levels.

You can actually charge strong attacks in DS3. The tutorial doesn't mention it and I don't believe it's mentioned anywhere in the game. Aside from more damage, it does have a few extra properties, like being able to knock human-sized enemies down instead of staggering them with the Claymore or Astora GS.
In duke nukem 3d if you pee in the toilets 100 times duke takes his dick out and says "I guess I really DO have time to play with myself" and he jacks off
In the original Splinter Cell, you can shoot Sticky Cameras at enemies to stun them. If you hit the head, it's a knockout. Non-lethal.
When I was 12 I was really struggling with the CIA level because you can't kill anybody. So I figured out that I could just knock out all the guards and re-use the sticky cams. Made it really easy for me after that.
Easy way to get the wampas in Shadows of the Empire, release both then leave the room, they will start fighting each other and the one that survives will be nearly dead when you come back in.
In Pokémon Ranger Shadows of Almia there's a mission where you have to sneak by some guards and board a ship. If you fail enough times then their leader will reduce the amount of guards on duty because "we're running low on time, we need some of you to board already". If you continue failing enough times then he'll again freak out that time is running low and reduce the number of guards again.
In Splatoon 1 there's a stuffed zapfish discarded in the trash in Inkopolis Plaza.
Pokemon Puzzle Challenge is a Game Boy Color exclusive, so it can't be played on the original Game Boy. However, if you input a code on the "play on a GBC please" screen, you can find a secret easter egg and play the unfinished Panel De Pon game that was abandoned in favor of Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. It has less options but I think that makes this the only Game Boy Color-only game that's still somehow playable on original Game Boy. You can even access the "GBC only" screen on a Game Boy Color (or the 3DS Virtual Console version of the game) by using another code so you can check this out no matter how you're playing the game.
In Resident Evil 4, there's a well hidden red herb at the beginning of the game right after you rescue the dog from the bear trap. Head right to the fenced in corner instead of heading to the house, and it's hidden in some foliage.

In Yu-Gi-Oh Nightmare Troubadour for DS every duelist has a little pixelated face next to their name in the list of duelists. This face becomes happier to more you duel/beat them. Weaker characters like Serenity will turn to the happiest face after only a few duels, while stronger ones like Joey will take upwards of 20. Weevil is a relatively weak character yet will never switch to the happiest face, even after beating him 99 times, the maximum amount the game records. I don't know is he the only character that never cheers up but if not then he is still by far the weakest to not do so. I had a theory that since Weevil is a sadistic character, maybe he would become happier if the player lost to him. But I refused to intentionally lose to that little shit, especially since his bug spray tactics made it a slog to beat him 99 times.
there is an alternative ending cutscene in dragon's dogma if you decide to outright attack the senechal instead of choosing the option to use the godsbane on him in dialog

seeing how you got mm open, wouldn't surprise me if you knew this but the bomber gang kids can hide inside boxes if you shepherd them. I doubt most have seen that
Oh right I was thinking it was something to do with potions but I thought the blue one was unlocked regardless plus like you said there's no use for them when fairies and chateau romani exist

you can get Blues for 100 from the ikana scrub anyways, not much point unless you somehow need to go left side Well.
for some reason this thread reminded me of 10-ish years back when whenever we had a nice thread it went on to be archived on a secondary site. frick moot and chinese moot.
deku nuts have a surprising number of uses. they can make the ghosts in the forest temple instantly reappear. they can cause the stingrays in jabu jabu to come out of the ground. and a bunch of other stuff
If a particular NPC is missing in Baldur's Gate when a cutscene involving them plays, either because you killed them or because you used cheats to spawn just one of the people in cutscene, the game will spawn "Biff the Understudy" to speak their lines instead, to avoid just softlocking in the cutscene. If there's multiple people missing it just spawns more than one Biff.
Baldur's Gate II gave Biff a brief actual in-game appearance as an understudy in a play where his acting is atrocious.
In the upstairs of the barber in Stormwind, there's some moved floorboards with two gnome skeletons underneath and a straight razor, a reference to Sweeney Todd; apparently the gnome barber is a serial killer.
I think they died for two reasons. /vm/ and all the No Logic runs that expect a ton of bomb hovering, which sucks hard in OoT due to how bombs work in it. Though I wouldn't mind playing a harder glitchless run online, my shit ain't setup anymore
I don't mind a little bomb hovering but they did get a little ridiculous with it on top of the entirely randomized entrances thing
I can't tell you how many times we got seeds where nobody but like one anon could clip into Jabu as adult
It's crazy how different it is in OoT compared to MM. OoT you barely get any horizontal distance, it's mostly vertical and on top of that, Hover Boots are nigh required to do it. It's so much more versatile in MM, and it's one of the main reasons i prefer MM.
It's nearly impossible at all to do it as young link but with adult link it's somewhat manageable without hover boots but yeah MM's bomb hovering is incredibly easy anybody could learn to do it in under a minute
Using a nicknamed Pokemon in Pokemon Stadium 1 makes their color change, not unlike the shiny Pokemon that debuted in Gen 2. They can get a few different colors depending on the mix of upper and lower case in the nickname, and your trainer ID
Stadium also fixed the 1/256 miss. Sort of. It rolls a number between 0 and 255, and if it's 255 (a miss), it rerolls again. This reroll only happens once, however, so if you get it twice in a row, you get a 1/65535 miss.
In the hunter's dream in bloodborne, if you use the monocular to zoom in on the stacks of books next to gerhman, some of they are titled "how to pick up fair maidens" spelled in clear english
above the entrance to hemwick charnal lane is a large wooden sign that says hemwick spelled in english as well
It’s just hard to imagine a pre-internet world in general. I did get stuck for roughly a year on part of Wind Waker where you have to shoot the frog in the tornado cause I was too stupid to google it though
Oh yeah plenty of them
The Unicorn Fountain, Beam sword attack, Triforce, the Pyramid, Wind Temple, Ice Temple, Temple of Light, etc
I vaguely remember one rumor where you had to do some convoluted shit to skip getting the Master Sword to become an adult then go to the Temple of Light which was suppose to be this endless void thing with nothing but a cage and once you're in the cage you were suppose to fight Ganondorf for the Triforce before the Temple collapsed in on the cage
>skip getting the Master Sword to become an adult then go to the Temple of Light which was suppose to be this endless void thing with nothing but a cage and once you're in the cage you were suppose to fight Ganondorf for the Triforce before the Temple collapsed in on the cage
that is a crazy ass rumor. I was a baby when OoT came out so the most I had was "beat the game without dying, without dying and link will ride Yoshi in the opening".
>was there really a playground rumor mill for OoT and other games like it?
yes

Wrath of the Black Manta was actually a modification of a Japanese Famicom game called Ninja Cop Saizou. Many significant changes were made to the game when it released in the NA and EU regions, including: >The title of course >Cutscenes and story are completely different. Wrath of the Black Manta was used as another vessel for the D.A.R.E. paranoia of the 80s/90s where you save children from an organization that wants them to get on drugs. Japanese game was anime-style and WotBM was realistic (with hilarious results). >Boot up intro and stage intro (before the Axt X screen) are completely absent in the international releases >The 2nd level of Ninja Cop Saizou is completely absent from the international releases too. >The 1st boss of the game is changed from anime-style to a realistic wife beater and loses his special sonic boom attack that he can pull off in the Japanese version >The final level has 6 floors to explore, the international release only has 4. >You are forced to re-fight every boss before the final boss in the Japanese version, but only one in the International of your choice >The final boss is completely different. The main villain in NCS turns into an alien whereas WotBM has some puzzle-bullshit for the final boss where you have to hit the boss in a specific order with certain moves while he holds the last child hostage >The first mobster's face portrait (pic-related) you can get information out of in WotBM is actually copied from the Stan Lee and John Buscema book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way"
>Boot up intro and stage intro (before the Axt X screen)
*Act 2
Also, the soundtrack is completely different in both the Japanese and International versions. The only other game I can think of that has this many changes between releases is Streets of Rage 3. Not even Doki Doki Panic has as many changes as those two games do from their original counterparts.
In Dark Souls, there is a unique asset in your cell in the Undead Asylum of a small pot with several pieces of poop inside it.
In Dark Souls 2, this poop jar asset was used again but this time in many places throughout the game. This was possibly meant as a visual metaphor for the quality of the game relative to its predecessor.
>"In 1976, a Richard Lewis Stapleston (age 77) was found washed ashore Newfoundland on an almost secluded beach; had it not been for the residents of a local cabin house out for an early morning stroll, Stapleston would have most likely died. After recovering from his injuries in a local hospital, Richard told the local authorities he was one of, 'many many others' who were still trapped in the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean. He was set free when one resident of the now sunken ship accidentally left a side compartment window open, sucking him out of the ship. He was violently shot to the ocean's waves above and swam the entire night to shore. He, and a handful of family members now run an organization built around rescuing the others and their families they have conceived while trapped."
So, as crazy as this is already, this guy's nephew ends up owning and running a giant underground arcade cabinet knockoff ring where he kidnapped and made a bunch of kids from low income neighbourhoods paint his contraband by hand then he would sell them to those who operated and ran the infamous, "pop-up-and-run arcades" in the mid to late 1990's. He got off scot free from Johnny Law by trading info in as to the whereabouts of the Titanic and now lives on a ranch outside Mount Shasta.
This is also present in Bomberman Hero where you would unlock bonus levels. The intent was to use Hudson's own N64 controller that had turbo function to unlock these bonuses.
Kojima's original idea for the Boss in MGS3 was that she had a tattoo of a snake where the head was her breast, so that when she fired her gun it would jiggle and look like the Snake was laughing.
In Gen 2 Pokemon, Synthesis and Moonlight were almost identical in effect, except that Synthesis was twice as effective during the day and Moonlight was twice as effective at night.
In Wolfenstein 3D, if you're killed by the Episode 2 boss's syringe attack, instead of having the standard bloody death face, BJ turns into a mutant zombie like the enemies you fight throughout the episode.
The long loading times in the xbox version of morrowind was cause todd figured out how to fricking get the xbox to restart without turning off the light on the console to hide it rebooting.
As I remember it, Morrowind on the original xbox had an issue with like cycling out uneeded memory, to the point where if played long enough the system/game couldn't handle it and the game would crash. Instead of fixing this issue the devs just made it so the game would restart on loading screens to wipe the memory. Someone else can undoubtedly explain it better than I but that's the gist of it.
No. In fact, an early version of Lake Hylia from the leaked 1997 partial build has an actor slot for Jabu-Jabu, implying that at that point in development the Zora's Fountain area (where the ice cavern is) didn't even exist. The Ice Cavern might have been a late addition like the fishing minigame.

According to the devs the earliest builds of the game didn't have time travel and the whole game was played as adult Link, so all the stuff having to do with the time skip, including Malon and Ruto growing up and Zora's Domain freezing, probably didn't come around until they were partway done.
In OOT the guredo's clothes would change to match links so if he had a blue tunic they woul;d have blue clothes etc and if you changed it to another color while infront of them their clothes would change right then too. This was apparently a glitch and was fixed in later versions.
In OOT if you hang around an octorok and avoid it's attacks for for several minutes he'll shoot a larger projectile or 3 continuous projectiles at you.
>Its not in 2d anymore jerry, 2D!! >George theyre trying something new, seeing how metroid works in first person >First Person!? If thats what they want then im gonna be the LAST PERSON to play it! >*Laughtrack followed by seinfeld bassline*
In dark souls 1, enemies that only appear as non-respawning will always drop any of their items that they haven't yet dropped at least once when you kill the last one. The most important examples would be the skull lantern and symbol of avarice, but also stuff like the boar helmet and gargoyle set. The only exceptions are the gargoyle tail axe and the drake sword, which can only be obtained via tail cut.
You can dual wield them. I remember downloading an Action Replay back in the day, grabbing both of them, and going nuts for the... two minutes you have them both.
I skipped all the dialogue as a kid, coming back to it decades later and speaking with every NPC, and doing every side quest is a mind-blowing experience.
I had no idea the masks create tons of new dialogue options.
If you have one of the oracle games in your N64 transfer pak and you boot up Majora's mask you will get more rupees, hearts and magic jars from enemies. This was never reported or advertised anywhere and I only discovered it when I was bored one day.
Did you know I can fap to anime breasts several times a day? Bet you didn't
Bullshit
no, I already blew up every bombable wall
>start a new
NO
smack butterflies with deku sticks and they turn into fairies
megaton hammer can be used to open up holes in the ground to grottos
if you crouch and stab with your sword you can break small rocks
>smack butterflies with deku sticks and they turn into fairies
You don't smack them with it, you let them fly and rest on top of your Deku Stick and they'll turn into a fairy
>You don't smack them with it, you let them fly and rest on top of your Deku Stick and they'll turn into a fairy
This feels like long forgotten knowledge.
As big as this board is on e celebs you'd think they'd watch Vinny at least play OoT where it brags about that secret on almost every playthrough
my 24 ears of playing this game I've never gotten this to work
>my 24 ears
you can show zelda the masks and she has unique dialogue
When??
the short window of time between when the mask shop opens but before getting the third stone
She references Pokemon in the PAL version of the game.
>In the German version of Ocarina of Time, if you speak to Princess Zelda while wearing the Keaton mask, she will say:
>"Was bist du denn? Ach, du bist eines dieser goldigen kleinen Taschenmonster, oder?"
Which roughly translates into:
>"What are you? Oh, you're one of those golden little pocket monsters, right?"
Referencing the visual similarities between the mask and Pikachu.
Does this mean Pokemon games canonically exist in the Zelda universe? What are the lore implications of this?
it means you should have a nice day for saying shit like "lore implications" over a one-off reference in a single language.
German zelda and the whole nintendoverse has its own lore implications.
That TLoZ is all a dream in Alakazam's head.
There's pictures of Mario and co in the castle
If I recall the german translator was the Ted Woosley of Zelda games
I didn't know you could visit Zelda again after her cutscene, what the frick.
Zelda calling out low effort catgirl pictures
went out of my way to get these dialogue lines in my most recent playthrough
Appreciate the effort anon. Love the small details in Nintendo games.
Cute
The Mario Party 3 final boss uses the same metal texture as Mario 64
In ocarina of time you can talk to a dying guard in the back alleyway after receiving the ocarina of time, but before you become an adult.
>He's not moving anymore
Freaked me out as a kid tbh
maybe he fell asleep
Didn't he become the crazy ghost guy that wants you to collect Poes in the future?
It theorized to be either him or the kid in the graveyard
kid in the grave yard becomes new gravekeeper
The theory is for the guard watching over those pots in the room where the Poe guy is in the future, not the guard that dies after Ganondorf tries to kidnap Zelda.
>I am SO tired! The night watch is so boring! I wish some ghosts would come out or something...
>Hey, I'm really interested in ghosts!
>Studying them is a hobby of mine, but you never know... the time might come when that kind of knowledge might be useful!
I mean, who else could is rationally be?
why he turn into ghost tho
To get ghost pussy
I don't think he became a ghost. He just got a cool new robe.
Didn’t he cough blood in original version?
Is the dying guard the same guard who talks about Poes in the guardhouse? I always figured the Poe salesman was that guard
everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears. but this also applies to the birds in lon lon ranch at night, a huge one appears if you kill a bunch. also applies to the leevers in the desert
>but this also applies to the birds in lon lon ranch at night
Wtf
>everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears
yeah but did you know there's no upper cap on the size? Normally the only cap is how short night is, but if you hack for infinite night, the bigger skeleton keeps growing and growing. Eventually it grows to the size of a mountain and soon after, the game crashes due to it being too big.
>everyone knows if you kill a lot of skeletons in hyrule field, a bigger one appears.
If you keep doing it after the first one, even larger Stalchildren will appear. The calculation the scales up the giant stalchild doesn't actually have an upper limit, but it's not really possible to do more than 3 or 4 cycles per night.
Holy frick
How the frick did I never see that
what was thing that was discovered years later that made people look at this differently? it got like 100 replies on one thread
I'm pretty sure the left and right parts of the M on his cap are off by a few pixels so it's technically asymmetric.
Why would that be significant? There's already a Luigi model in the game files. The letter on his cap is by definition based on an asymmetric bitmap.
I want to see this thread, though sadly it is probably now lost to all but memory...
Is this bait?
Technically no
Well, technically it is because it made me google for ten minutes something that isn't there.
The "fact" is that Mario's textures are symmetrical it's just used for shitposting ammo though
>textures are symmetrical it's just used for shitposting ammo
More like autism ammo. Like when I whine about non-integer scaling in "retro" shooter graphic assets.
the whole point is that they are not symmetrical
specifically the M
hence people got mad that it was later symmetrical in 3d allstars
You've got that backwards
no
right side of the bottom of the m is wider
here is the symmetrical all stars hat for reference
Español?
The point of this is that lefties are inferior.
Or is it righties because perspective?
Anyway discriminate.
Who was in the wrong here?
Shut.the.frick.up
Explain. Or is the meme that theres nothing wrong and youre all pretending to be moronic?
His head is off-center.
>he doesn't see it
When you see it, you'll shit bricks
the left side of mario is of darker skin meaning mario is half Black person
You can trick the game to get all golden skultulas easily as soon as you get the boomerang. Go to hyrule castle as a kid, open the hole near the tree were you find malon father, kill the golden skultula and throw your boomerang to grab it but before it comes back to you get out of the whole. The game thinks you got one but the golden skultula is still inside so you can do this until you reach the max then all golden skultulas in the game will disappear.
You need song of storms to enter that grotto
In Skyrim you can prevent gargoyles from attacking by using unrelenting force to ragdoll them.
You can walk around with a full gargoyle posse, but staggering them will reset them.
spooky mask glows at night. probably just a texture glitch, but still neat
These are actually really cool, never knew about them before
Does that mean you can sequence break Dodongo's cavern if you get the adult wallet and buy blue flame at the shop?
Yes
No
Why wouldn’t it be possible?
Maybe in randomizer you'd be expected to do this, but you can't get enough Skulltulas to get the giant wallet as child. Blue Fire is 300, remember.
Ah, for some reason, I had it in my head that it was 150, but that's what it sells for with c.
There are easier ways to sequence break DC
Like what?
You can tho.
>3 in deku
>2 in kokiri
>2 in lost woods
>3 in lake hylia (and one of these needs a precise jumpslash to get)
>2 in lon lon ranch
>1 in hyrule castle town
>1 in castle town area
>1 on death mountain trail
>1(?) in goron city (might need adult)
>1 in gerudo valley
>5 in kakariko
I don't think I missed any, so you're 8 short of the Giant Wallet in that case, since 20 gets you the Stone of Agony.
HESSing is another story entirely that I can't comprehend at all along with weird shots
i just do two bomb ones. Weirdshotting sucks ass and i'm horrible at it, did it all of 4 times and cant get the hang of it.
Can you test
I dont have the game open, and i don't need to test it, that boomerang trick is well documented.
Then why can’t the giants wallet be obtained?
Where are you going to get the boomerang from before Dodongo's Cavern?
Gold scale glitch
Not him but dude there are easier ways to sequence break Dodongo's Cavern just cucco dive to the bottom of the well and vine clip to get bombchus
>glitch
yeah it's easy to do but i didn't have that in mind.
tfw too dumb to vineclip
>tfw too dumb to vineclip
It's easier than videos on it make it seem I recommend looking up just basic vine clips with bombs first so you know what exactly you're suppose to be doing then just apply that to the skulltula in BotW
That's a well known glitch. I did it over a decade ago in one run.
Nice thread. Didn’t know a lot of this stuff
I hope BOTW 2 brings items back.
You are now aware of the lips on the Lens of Truth.
No shit, that's where your dick goes.
>that pic
NINTENDO
HIRE
THIS
MAN
It's missing an item.
it's missing multiple items.
Master sword
hylian shield
golden scale
the various shit you can put in bottles
They did. Those are the full res renders found in the gigaleak.
>they did
Lies. If they had, BotW wouldnt look as soulless.
When a This Man is hired, he produces high quality visuals for one game and immediately dies.
Such is the cost and eternal struggle of such artistic vision.
God damn that wooden shield trigger my Easter chocolate needs.
The map image is actually based on the Nintendo HQ building layout.
I remember when I first found out you could get your own personal cow in your treehouse.
What a based couple games the 64 Zeldas were.
The frick? Can you really?
beat the time in malon's obstacle course.
Nobody returns to see Malon after getting Epona as an adult...
I'm going to tell you an embarassing secret. I'll admit to my friends I find anime and vidya girls sexy, but I will fricking take to my grave the fact that I used to be in love with Malon when I was a kid and I used to just stand in front of her and listen to her N64 singing.
Used to? I still do after 20+ years
You're not the only one
>half Hylian, half Gerudo
best girl in the game by far
Begone with your shitty fan theories
It's not entirely baseless, Malon's father says that Link's Gerudo mask reminds him of Malon's mother but quickly catches himself.
There's no such thing as half-Gerudo cause Gerudo women always give birth to Gerudo daughters except for Ganondorf
He says the same thing about the goron mask
that shits modded her breasts were never that big
It isn't, they're really that big
had to confirm this myself
also, they really shrunk her in the remake
(black wireframe is oot, orange is the 3ds remake)
Isn't some of it probably just simplistic modelling of a loose shirt? Young Zelda has the same and obvious she's going to be flat as a kid.
I like the idea of OoT Zelda being a Maria Renard situation, where her e-girl self is perplexingly stacked while her adult self is unremarkable.
More proof that the original is still the best.
not gonna lie, a little disappointing to see but also not surprising
Nope, 100% real.
It's finally getting there. There's a bunch of QoL stuff that can just be toggled on/off without needing to restart/recompile/etc and there's a randomizer in open testing.
how does the base game run? I'm not looking to into QoL and addons yet
Imo it plays flawlessly. I've heard it runs (very) slightly better than the N64 original, which might throw you off if you're into doing tricks and whatnot. Besides that, it's exactly what you'd expect.
It's the Debug version right? So it's got some texture and model weirdness?
Last I checked the skyboxes are a little screwy but that's about the worst I've seen from my time messing with it.
Stuff like picrel has only appeared in dev builds.
they didnt even downsize them for Cremia
I remember feeling really funny inside when i saw this scene for the first time as a kid. Pretty sure my balls started producing at this moment lmao.
Nope, she was always supposed to be a titty monster.
God I love low-poly tiddy
Hows Ocarina of Time's PC port?
Why her in particular?
Are you gay or just stupid?
It's okay anon, we understand.
That's cute, Anon
>Just the other day, my boss unwittingly reveals in conversation that he thought Daphne from Scooby Doo was "the sexy one" when he was younger
>Other employees openly mock him for it, "she's a cartoon!"
>Meanwhile a guy who is sitting on nearly a TB of fat anime titty pics looks somewhat nervous
>"ha ha, yeah that's odd..."
They can never know
>mom comes in my room
>she looks puzzled at starts staring at my bed
>"anon, what's that thing"?
>get nervous
>"w-what thing"?
>"that orange thing!"
>my anime body pillow is orange
>I didn't put the protective cover that hides it and makes it look like a regular pillow on
>almost have a stroke right there and then
>turn around, start trying to think of excuses
>look at my nightstand
>I bought a bottle of baking soda earlier and left it on my nightstand like a moron
>my waifu was safe under the sheets, just out of her sight
I'd be less nervous about a drug habit than what cartoon girls tickle my pickle by this point
>almost have a stroke right there and then
Anon, you cant jerk off in front of your mother, thats rude.
>Not backing up your boss
You're damn right you could
Why is cow print so fricking hot
Im so fricking mad that no one ever did a full dating sim with the oot girls.
it would be shit, unfortunately
unlike mine
There is no modding tools yet
There's one I played on Newgrounds a long time ago
yeah i remember, if my memory is correct, Saria was kinda of a pothead, Malon was the bawd due to how easy she was to bed, and Din and Nayru where there aswell
Yeah, that's the one. It's LoZ Simdate RPG, just found it on flashpoint.
>Plays Epona's Song
>Lactation fetish activated
I like the way you think
The sea salt ice cream in Kingdom Hearts is there because one of Nomura's childhood memories was going to Disneyland and being give some sea salt ice cream
I figured there was some reason behind the fixation, I mean it just keeps showing up.
I didn't realize this until just a few years ago, but redeads are blind
if you move slowly/quietly around them, they wont attack you. I had to dig out my old N64 to try it out when I read it to test it out cause I couldn't believe I was totally unaware of something that significant
wish I knew this as a kid, I probably would have been less of a chicken shit about the bottom of the well and the shadow temple and shit
They also care about their friends. When you kill one of them, the others turn and walk towards their corpse and completely ignore you for a while.
That's because they go to eat their body. Or was that just in Wind Waker?
Or you can play the Sun's song and freeze them for a couple of seconds.
Iron boots speed is slow enough to not be noticed. also don't draw sword near them.
> CLANG CLANG CLANG
> link you're a genius!
If you kill another Redead nearby, the other Redeads will completely ignore you.
>not showing the part where the Redead starts eating the corpse of the dead Redead
JUSTIN BAILEY has no special meaning, it wasn't the name of anyone involved in Metroid and it wasn't specifically coded into the game.
It was just a flukish guess by someone at a password that happened to work and give good items so it spread around and because everyone's go-to password.
ENGAGE RIDLEY
MOTHER FRICKER
is still excellent too
That one does screwy shit with most emulators since it causes an illegal instruction.
It seems bullshit that a screwy glitchy password can damage a console but I don't want to test it and mess up my great condition NES in the process.
yeah it makes mustard gas
yeah it makes cool crystals at home
Justin Bailey was the name of a teenage martial artist that was on the news around that time for being undeafeted. He later joined the Army
the point being it's just the first string of letters that worked and also looked like a name, numerous other ones work too
I remember watching a youtube video that 'chronicled' the story of the 'real' Justin Bailey
Self-proclaimed pervert with a fetish for pixelated flesh
Claimed in SM2 that Peach had a dick under her the folds of her dress
video ended with the nintendo killteam coming for him
There's a recovery heart behind a lavafall in dodongo's cavern.
Kind of neat that they put something back there even if it isn't important.
>Kind of neat that they put something back there even if it isn't important.
That, my boy, is what we call SOUL
OoT is absolutely full of random neat details like this, that aren't important, maybe one of the most filled games ever really
I had no idea these two appeared in OoT, nor that you could fight them. Just learned about it some mins ago.
I forget what they're there for but I guess you'd never see them since there's no reason to go to where they spawn as an adult.
Damn, all these plebians that didn't spend hours as a kid just exploring and fricking around in hyrule.
Probably destroyed my social skills but at least I can le epicly dab on normies
I completely forgot about these guys even though I killed em, it's like you just unlocked a part of my brain.
In Majora's Mask. The Song of Storms will cleanse you of Jinx curses (the flying skulls with blue smoke)
And if for whatever reason you don't have that song and are on a randomizer or something, Blue Potions cure it too. But you can also save ingame time by having Tatl tell you about an enemy and waiting on the text until it wears off.
Shanoa is based on Igarashi's wife.
Every time you jerked off to Shanoa, you jerked off to Iga's wife by proxy.
Hot.
Good thing then that OoE is dogshit then
Nice.
WHAT IN TARNATION
excuse me?
speaking of benny, his voice actor(matthew perry) insinuated he jerks off to klonoa on the wii.
Nope. Nope. Nope..I have played this game so much, its my favorite, I have it cib. I do the map glitch I have the strategy guide....no fricking way!!
The rock formations on the walls in termina are based on several constellations with myths and other stories relating to the main themes of the game.
There is also a random part of the wall in west-clocktowns outer wall that, if you hit it, rupees will come out. There's another one of these in the mask decor inside of the town's Inn, but can't be hit without glitches as you aren't allowed to use weapons inside the inn.
you backflip and Barrier as Zora to hit that hitspot in the inn
meowth's national dex number is 52, flipped numbers of pikachu being 25. the reason is because one is a cat while tjeotheris a mouse.
also wailord and skitty can breed
Out of the entire Field group, why did Skitty specifically become a meme for this? Why not Wailord x Rattata? Wailord x Buneary?
because skitty is cute and tiny
Pokemon breeding started in gen 2, gen 3 had the first "whacky" options. Skitty and Wailord ar eboth gen 3 pokemon. Skitty is one of the smallest and lightest pokemon as of gen 3.
Buneary didn't exist when the meme came out.
>Buneary didn't exist when the meme came out
Wait, the meme is THAT old?
Yes? The meme started when gen 3 released.
Damn you're underaged.
I'm 30.
Damn young'in.
Underage. You must be 35 to post in Ganker.
Valid, I only started coming here on 2008 and didn't see the meme brought up at all until like 2010. I just looked it up and it's from 2004.
the windmill island from windwaker is oot's kakariko village post goddess flooding. tjeirthemes are similar but rearranged
I always thought it was just the Kakariko tie-in for the game due to similar roles in the game and the music. Dunno about the lore.
ice arrows work on Bongo Bongo
items having obscure properties on things you wouldn't think of using them on, like OP's, is one thing
there being unique animations for it is an entirely different thing, holy shit
A neat little thing about Ice Arrows is that you can shoot those spike traps that move across the floor to stop them from moving for a while which is very handy right before you get to the boss in the Water Temple
it is theorized that the stalfos you train with in TwiPri is OoT Link who got lost in the woods after MM trying to find Navi
This was confirmed later in Hyrule Historia. Dude didn't just get lost in the woods and become one, he literally lived a full life and died without Hyrule ever knowing what he did because he undid it by going back in time.
Wouldn't the sages have known? The sages are still awakened when he goes back in time.
No they aren't, those are different sages that awakened in the TP timeline.
then why is he a stalfos?
I think his actual appearance is the wolf spirit, then he can just take whatever appearance he wants inside of the training dreams.
He probably picked a Stalfos because it's human-shaped, and it'd otherwise freak TPP Link out if he saw that the dead guy training him looked exactly like him.
He's not, he's a ghost.
zombie ghost.
Bullshit.
you're not going to like this:
?t=262
meant for
In MM you can shoot shoot Sakon with the bow when he robs the bomb lady and he gets blown up. You get nothing from the old woman and since he's dead you can't continue Kafei's sidequest.
In TP if you toss the bone next to the dog behind the STARS tent he comes back with hearts and rupees.
In BotW, you can use magnesis and a large weapon to provide Link shade in the desert.
What am I looking at here? Is there a face in the grass pattern?
It's Skull Kid.
>nude jabu
LEWD!
That pic is actually crazy. This is a totally new find for me
.
theres a hidden room in ganon's castle with business scrubs and fairies
This thread has made me realize that most people do not explore games, and did not hunt down all gossip stones.
>there is a man who runs around hyrule field
No shit. I literally had to stumble upon him to sell him this rabbit hat in order to get the Mask of Truth to talk to you in the first place!
More like GosSHIT Stones.
The frick just happened?
a troony spent 20000 hours speedrunning the game so hard that they figured out how to write code by moving around in the game and wrote pong instead of doing something useful like playing ONE (1) other game ever or programming another game
>the speedrun troons found a way to do the ebin credits skip in PM64 by StopNSwapping to OOT, doing their shit there, then swapping back to PM64.
Now imagine if they used their autism for something actually meaningful.
They'd probably figure a way to actually have passable transitions
>actually meaningful.
which means what, something that furthers capitalism? no thank you george bush
You can program games within games.
I did this on accident as a 6 year old. No one believed me.
I don't believe you.
I believe you
Can you code DOOM in Mario world?
No, because Mario world isn't powerful enough. HOWEVER: Yoshi's Island has the Super FX2 chip which is shared with only one other game, the SNES port of DOOM. Coincedentally, Yoshi's Island also has that same Mario World glitch which is called "arbitrary code execution". So theoretically it's possible to code DOOM into Yoshi's Island.
Speedrunners/TAS users need to get on it
>I asked a speedrunner about this years ago on Youtube asking if he could try doing that
>"that sounds pretty cool, I'll have to do it!"
>he never did it
>Tfw we can never shoot eggs at fat shy guys but in first person
how the frick does somebody "write code" just by throwing around turtle shells and jumping of yoshi. There is no possible way a human can program the game snake and pong with "snake" and "pong" written in the name just by playing mario. Thats bullshit. The games already existed they just glitched their way in to a menu that lets them play it. I recently wrote pong and snake for a python class and there is just no way you can do that just with only mario hopping around for a couple minutes.
it's a tas idiot
>tas
i dont speak autism. I'm guessing this is speedrun jargon
it just means the inputs are premade and played automatically, not done in real time
ok this is a little bit more believable then. I thought people were saying a person just did this on the fly.
very neat
It's called arbitrary code execution and there's a number of games where you can do it.
This is the best explanation of it I've ever seen:
A couple of years ago speedrunners figured out how to do it in Ocarina of Time and it involved despawning objects during room transitions, glitching the name entry in the file select to remove the character limit, and using rubber bands to hold the control stick in precisely the right spot on a controller plugged into the player 3 slot.
>arbitrary code execution
that is incredible. The things people discover just blows my mind.
Holy shit I just found a comment I wrote 5 years ago on that video. Looks like I have had this exact conversation before but I forgot.
Tool Assisted Speedrun, meaning that all the inputs that are happening were pre-programmed by someone, instead of an actual human performing them. So the people figured out you can glitch code around, figured out how the code responded, and then they can pull shit like that off
You're a frickin moron if you don't know what a TAS is speedrun jargon or not
The Amazing Spider-man
There's a glitch that makes the game do a jump command to a ram address and it starts reading sprite x and y coordinates as assembly. Usually it crashes the game but if you get sprites to despawn at the right x and y coordinates (it's tas only, obviously) you "write" a program in ram.
Also, it's assembly, not python, so every command is 3 characters long. It's a lot more do-able then you think.
Its manipulating onboard memory anon. Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it doesn't work.
no fricking shot
In MGS3, if you knock out a soldier and then shoot him in the kneecaps, then he won't be able to stand up once he regains consciousness
that's sad 🙁
Why? Was your dad shot in the knees or something?
i don't know if you knew this but some people are naturally empathetic to the suffering of others.
Is that a yes?
it's a no, dummy
Why are you talking like a gay, son?
You don’t like good game mechanics?
you're a strange man
Maybe you’re just a gay, you ever think of that?
omg you've so epicly pwned me
Is that a yes?
Are you a woman by any chance? It's an Easter egg in a video game. It's a little irrational for something like this to engage your emotions
>It's an Easter egg
no it's fricking not, it's a game mechanic you absolute moron
Also, enemy soldiers will cure their injuries if left alone for a while.
>destroy their supply caches and the AI is forced to pistols or knives
>in their starving states they are more susceptible to random food items thrown in front of them like poison mushies
>shooting their radios makes them unable to call for help
>repeatedly knocking out, shaking them down or injuring them changes their dialogue to a defeated tone
>MGS escaped the Immersive Sim curse
How the FRICK did Kojimbo do it?
you can toss alcohol in the water in rdr2 to make fish bite more
if you wait a moment when you get in a car in gta4 your character puts on their seatbelt on reducing the chance you go flying out the windshield in a crash
you can cycle back to the beginning of your item lineup in elden ring/dark souls by holding the direction
>puts on their seatbelt on reducing the chance you go flying out the windshield in a crash
BULLSHIT
You can use different pokémon in Stadium 2 minigames. Including their shiny version.
how
I've been playing these all my life and never seen Furret/Pikachu/Omanyte
You need to connect a Yellow Cartridge with Starter Pikachu to get Pikachu on the minigame. For Scizor, Omanyte and Girafarig any other GBC gen 2 cartridge will do.
no wonder...
IIRC you just had to have the GB cartridge in
You also won the coins from minigames for your actual Gen 2 Coin Case.
I love secrets that sound like bullshit made up by 10 year olds on the schoolbus.
I did not know that. Thank you for the information OP you have made my day slightly nicer.
One of Seth MacFarlane’s favorite video games is Punch-Out on NES. It has been referenced several times on Family Guy.
Jewtube actually slapped some Punch Out videos with DMCA takedowns because of a FG episode that contained a parody of it.
NINTENDO
Wasn't that the Tecmo Bowl one because they took the footage from YouTube?
Did you know? In 1994, shortly after its release, Al Sharpton ordered Nintendo to recall every copy of Donkey Kong Country due to the portrayal of African American men as jungle dwelling mammals. When Nintendo told him the game was actually about gorillas, he went bananas.
talk about overkill
almost 100% consistency with big goron.
FYI everyone should play OOT Rando. Then MM Rando once you git gud.
I love MM but randomized MM is not fun at all to play no matter how good you are unless you're just a masochist
I like MM randomizer, after turning off a few stupid checks anyways.
At least in MM i can always use the Bunny Hood or Goron Mask, and it has more warps placed in more convenient places.
>it's just overworld traversal is so goddamned slow and the warp spots are constantly on the outer edges of the map
I love OoT but I'll agree with you on that
Playing an OoT rando without bombs can be brutal just because of overworld transversing alone
I'm setting up OoT randomizer right now. Any recommendations for settings or just run it default?
Not him but keep the mostly default settings maybe open the door of time, any main gates that require checks like Deku Tree if you don't know how to glitch past them which wouldn't be required on the default casual settings anyway
My personal favorite setting is Shopsanity. Makes money useful and really makes you feel the gut punch that is getting a Huge Rupee with no wallet upgrades.
Avoid overworld entrance randomization unless you plan to take extensive notes
Skullsanity is a nice time if you can remember where the skulltulas lurk
Keysanity is your call
Wait...what did everyone else do? I thought that was what you were supposed to do. Or shoot him as he charges with a lightarrow.
Always did this. But from what others have told me, you can shoot him with light arrow while hes chargnig. You can also hookshot to him when on ground, targeting reabled while hes down.
Everyone has heard about bottle i'm sure.
Less obscure and more of a fun thing to do, is if you jump right at Ganondorf as he charges a ball up, you can get a swing in real quickly, giving him no time to hit it back. webm was supposed to be a spin attack but it still works
Dark Forces kicks ass
Just bought this game and the sequels. Does it run well on modern pcs?
playable in DOSbox but the reverse engineered source port is playable. its v0.9 which fixed all the audio and is considered feature complete, the only thing left to do for v1.0 is a QoL thing for GPU accelerated 3D which wasn't in the original game.
https://theforceengine.github.io/blog.html
Wtf, where does this go?
there's a grotto up there. Probably only has a few rupees in a chest inside it.
>gamecube MM
man
That's actually just randomized button colors lmao
MM rando lets you customize button colors. I like using GC colors since i use a GC controller.
Oh so that's what stone was referring to, does it work with any song?
Only the 3 that open dungeons. Elegy doesn't count since all it technically does is place statues.
Frick I also used the plant to get to the hole
Why is OoT so good bros
The deku nuts are hilarious, its wild just how fricking gigantic their hitbox is
They are very handy and very underrated
That backflip at the end there? Sexy.
I remember there being zero mention of this kind of mechanics in the games, yet in Stadium 2 they have an dedicated section to learn exactly stuff like this.
sunny day removes the waiting time for solar beam
rain dance increase the odds for thunder to hit
lock on helps zap cannon to land
>increase the odds
Rain makes Thunder bypass the accuracy check entirely if I'm not mistaken.
my bad it makes thunder hit 100%
You can use CUT to cut down tall grass.
When was the last time you could do this, though?
Whatever the last "good" game was.
So Gen V.
Thereabouts, yeah. That sounds right.
you can unironically even do it in gen 1
Gen 3. Not sure about FRLG but definitely RSE.
Also if the Pokémon using Cut has Hyper Cutter as its ability then you cut a larger grid.
In RSE if your cutter had the ability Hyper Cutter they would clear 25 squares instead of 9
ANother proof how this series ended with gen 3. So glad i never touched any of the games post gen 3.
You can actually enter the painting in Mario 64
Which one? There's a pisstonne of paintings in that game, so you're gonna have to be a bit more specific
underage leave
In Nioh 2, Rokugezo and Kin-ki have the same properties as cannonballs and flaming arrows and can be used to break boundary objects and sequence break a few levels.
Cool
If Jack Marston survived after the end of RDR, he’d be in his 50s during the events of L.A. Noire and in his 90s during the events of GTA: Vice City.
You can kill Kalle Demos in one hit by bringing the forest water and pouring it on it.
how do you get that water pre-dungeon? I always thought you could only get it after it.
Same as later maybe? You just scoop it up on your bottle.
Ace Combat 5 and 0 memory card icons change if you 100% them.
Yep, that's soul over there
there was something you do with the N64 controller before a game starts but i can't remember which game.
you press L and R and then press it again and hold it while you press A and i think it change color of ypur character but i can't eber which multiplayer game was it
You can actually charge strong attacks in DS3. The tutorial doesn't mention it and I don't believe it's mentioned anywhere in the game. Aside from more damage, it does have a few extra properties, like being able to knock human-sized enemies down instead of staggering them with the Claymore or Astora GS.
In duke nukem 3d if you pee in the toilets 100 times duke takes his dick out and says "I guess I really DO have time to play with myself" and he jacks off
Speaking of OOT, this.
is this a gamecube version exclusive?
it isn't a feature on any gamecube version of the game unmodified
PC dev build.
Did you know in Wind Waker you can kill the boss of the Forest Haven instantly by dumping spring water from the deku tree on it?
Like, after you expose the eye? Or just on it immediately?
When you cut it down from the ceiling and opens up, you go to it and dump water on it.
?t=59
Deku nuts damage Ganon. You can do phase 1 entirely with nuts. Phase 2 requires at least one master sword hit, though
Easy way to get the wampas in Shadows of the Empire, release both then leave the room, they will start fighting each other and the one that survives will be nearly dead when you come back in.
>not taking over the wampa and wrecking all the snow troopers yourself
I'm amazed how very few of these are actually new to me as an adult, I guess I really spent hours and hours just fricking about in Hyrule.
Guns in Turok 1 have ricochet
Neat
Fricking sick. Didn't expect to find something about Turok in one of these threads. Thanks, anon
The spent shells also cause splashes
Luis will kill Leon if you shoot him too much during the cabin shootout.
Leon and the merchant are the same voice actor.
The first iteration of RE4 in the design stages eventually became the final story concept for Devil May Cry.
You can transform any item in the subscreen in OoT into a bottle
Since this is mostly a Zelda-related thread, here is a kino one: Ganondorf was leaked in Melee before release.
http://web.archive.org/web/20011024062819/www.n-sider.com/main.php?page=news/092201ssbm.htm
Link can kill a man in Majora's Mask. Shooting him as he steals the Bomb Bags blows him up, and you are locked out of both the Big Bomb Bag along with the rest of the Kafei sidequest.
i almost spilled my drink this time because i always laugh when seeing this webm.
seeing how you got mm open, wouldn't surprise me if you knew this but the bomber gang kids can hide inside boxes if you shepherd them. I doubt most have seen that
I've seen that.
Majora's Mask has mushrooms you can only find with the Mask of Scents. One of these is on a pair of underwear.
never knew that since even when i was 6 i shot them with bubbles/arrows to stop them from running away.
filesize limits are a b***h, can't even post the superslide into the Ganon fight webm.
What were mushrooms used for? I forgot I know they aren't a requirement at least for getting all the masks
you give them to the potion witch to get Blue Potions. Seeing as how you can get infinite magic and catch fairies there's almost no use for this.
Oh right I was thinking it was something to do with potions but I thought the blue one was unlocked regardless plus like you said there's no use for them when fairies and chateau romani exist
you can get Blues for 100 from the ikana scrub anyways, not much point unless you somehow need to go left side Well.
They unlock blue potions
for some reason this thread reminded me of 10-ish years back when whenever we had a nice thread it went on to be archived on a secondary site. frick moot and chinese moot.
there are external Ganker archives, anon
also holy shit, 2012 was 10 years ago what the FRICK
deku nuts have a surprising number of uses. they can make the ghosts in the forest temple instantly reappear. they can cause the stingrays in jabu jabu to come out of the ground. and a bunch of other stuff
As soon as I realized they weren't bombs, I never used them. Only later did I find out they're probably the most versatile item in the game.
Bring back OoTOnline rando weekends please I'm a loser with nothing better to do with my time on the weekends
I remember an old magazine with a large list of names to get certain pokemon colors.
if stadium had an actual RPG mode or even a 64 bit remake of RBY it would have been 10/10
Also if you transfer your Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow, it gets the "Pikachu" cry from the anime instead of the normal Pokemon cry from the games.
I spent a lot of time trying nicknames and seeing what colors I'll get, one of my best one was a white fearow
Everyone already knows about the green potion in TP and the 37th heart piece in OOT right?
And the secret mushroom in OOT aswell probably. But I doubt anybody found that as a child.
You can spin the logs thrown by the gorilas at the temple levels of Crash 2. Yes, I learned that from the GDQ run.
FFVII's religion is based on Christianity and is recently confirmed through recent media.
The Christian looking Church didn't tip you off?
Nope it was the pic earlier in the game that tipped me off.
In the hunter's dream in bloodborne, if you use the monocular to zoom in on the stacks of books next to gerhman, some of they are titled "how to pick up fair maidens" spelled in clear english
above the entrance to hemwick charnal lane is a large wooden sign that says hemwick spelled in english as well
question for the boomers, was there really a playground rumor mill for OoT and other games like it? it seems too kino to be true
Yes there was.
of course there was, why wouldn't there be? what do post internet zooms talk about at school?
It’s just hard to imagine a pre-internet world in general. I did get stuck for roughly a year on part of Wind Waker where you have to shoot the frog in the tornado cause I was too stupid to google it though
Absolutely. Everyone heard rumors of the Triforce being in the game
I was a baby when OoT came out so the most I had was "beat the game without dying, without dying and link will ride Yoshi in the opening".
>was there really a playground rumor mill for OoT and other games like it?
yes

So have people done anything with that decomp yet? Like any mods, QoL, textures sets, ect?
Wrath of the Black Manta was actually a modification of a Japanese Famicom game called Ninja Cop Saizou. Many significant changes were made to the game when it released in the NA and EU regions, including:
>The title of course
>Cutscenes and story are completely different. Wrath of the Black Manta was used as another vessel for the D.A.R.E. paranoia of the 80s/90s where you save children from an organization that wants them to get on drugs. Japanese game was anime-style and WotBM was realistic (with hilarious results).
>Boot up intro and stage intro (before the Axt X screen) are completely absent in the international releases
>The 2nd level of Ninja Cop Saizou is completely absent from the international releases too.
>The 1st boss of the game is changed from anime-style to a realistic wife beater and loses his special sonic boom attack that he can pull off in the Japanese version
>The final level has 6 floors to explore, the international release only has 4.
>You are forced to re-fight every boss before the final boss in the Japanese version, but only one in the International of your choice
>The final boss is completely different. The main villain in NCS turns into an alien whereas WotBM has some puzzle-bullshit for the final boss where you have to hit the boss in a specific order with certain moves while he holds the last child hostage
>The first mobster's face portrait (pic-related) you can get information out of in WotBM is actually copied from the Stan Lee and John Buscema book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way"
>Boot up intro and stage intro (before the Axt X screen)
*Act 2
Also, the soundtrack is completely different in both the Japanese and International versions. The only other game I can think of that has this many changes between releases is Streets of Rage 3. Not even Doki Doki Panic has as many changes as those two games do from their original counterparts.
heh
Wait, the nipples hurt you?
Yes they have hurt boxes
i like seeing my webms posted in these threads
>Sharp breasts
it's nice to see they had to go for the joke
In Dark Souls, there is a unique asset in your cell in the Undead Asylum of a small pot with several pieces of poop inside it.
In Dark Souls 2, this poop jar asset was used again but this time in many places throughout the game. This was possibly meant as a visual metaphor for the quality of the game relative to its predecessor.
In Mario 64, you can kill the snowball-throwing snowmen (named Mr. Blizzard) by running around them in a circle like how you kill Mr. I
Super Mario Bros. 2 was actually a completely unrelated game called Doki Doki Panic in Japan.
He got off scot free from Johnny Law by trading info in as to the whereabouts of the Titanic and now lives on a ranch outside Mount Shasta.
what the frick
Fake, also gay.
Sounds fictional
i worked at one of those fukin arcades lmao never got paid
If you mash the start button on the main menu of bomberman 64 it unlocks the hidden multiplayer stages that normally require you to 100% the game
What a unique individual he is
In Gen 2 Pokemon, Synthesis and Moonlight were almost identical in effect, except that Synthesis was twice as effective during the day and Moonlight was twice as effective at night.
In Wolfenstein 3D, if you're killed by the Episode 2 boss's syringe attack, instead of having the standard bloody death face, BJ turns into a mutant zombie like the enemies you fight throughout the episode.
nice
The long loading times in the xbox version of morrowind was cause todd figured out how to fricking get the xbox to restart without turning off the light on the console to hide it rebooting.
To what end? Wouldn’t that make it load even slower than needed, or did he do it to spite Microsoft?
I dont remeber, it was in this interview.
Really? This same homosexualy-anne and homosexualy-andy thread again?
In all the leaks of OoT, was the Ice Cavern ever a full temple?
In OOT if you hang around an octorok and avoid it's attacks for for several minutes he'll shoot a larger projectile or 3 continuous projectiles at you.
do we even encounter bombable walls after blue fire is available without having played dungeons in a weird order?
Mark Hamill apparently likes Mario 64 but doesn't like Rogue Squadron.
He has brain damage so the bings are more appealing.
Jason Alexander wasn't pleased with Metroid Prime according to that one photo
Peter Dinklage thinks New Super Mario Bros. U is adequate.
>"Damn... I wish mushrooms did that to me"
>Finally have a console whose controller fits your baby hands
>The only game they give you is NSMB Wii
>Its not in 2d anymore jerry, 2D!!
>George theyre trying something new, seeing how metroid works in first person
>First Person!? If thats what they want then im gonna be the LAST PERSON to play it!
>*Laughtrack followed by seinfeld bassline*
Filename should be "George is gettin upset"
Thanks.
Sally Field keeps a Link figure next to her Oscars.
Who is the biggest celebrity gamer? Has anybody IRL famous uploaded a let's play or Challenge run of a game they like?
Robin williams named his daughter after sepiroth.
It's not a Let's Play but Henry Cavill uploaded a video to Instagram of him building a gaming rig.
Henry cavil isnt famous though.
Jamie Lee Curtis was on Game Grumps.
Where did his hair go
>referencing the "Hello Mario meme"
banned for being non-family friendly, sorry
In dark souls 1, enemies that only appear as non-respawning will always drop any of their items that they haven't yet dropped at least once when you kill the last one. The most important examples would be the skull lantern and symbol of avarice, but also stuff like the boar helmet and gargoyle set. The only exceptions are the gargoyle tail axe and the drake sword, which can only be obtained via tail cut.
There’s actually more than 1 scarab gun in halo 2. I only ever knew about the one in metropolis for years
You can dual wield them.
Hope you talked to every gossip stone with the Truth mask on too
If you have one of the oracle games in your N64 transfer pak and you boot up Majora's mask you will get more rupees, hearts and magic jars from enemies. This was never reported or advertised anywhere and I only discovered it when I was bored one day.
Good thread.
