How do Pokemon shinies end up the way they do, anyway? Seems like the most extreme case of hit or miss design to me. It's almost as if the people who decided on some of those shinies were drunk one night with how insultingly questionable they are.
Before 3D they basically had a ruleset or whatever you wanna call it to chose shiney colors, which is why you see alotta pink mon turn green and blue pokemon turn purple. With the exception of shill mon getting special treatment.
Now it seems to be all hand crafted which makes the lazy ones even sadder. Like just turn maushaus into brown mice why we altering just the shirt to another off white.
It's hard to try to defend it at all when they said that they were trying to make shinies not as special or unique just so people don't feel bad for not getting them.
>trying to make shinies not as special or unique just so people don't feel bad for not getting them
I don’t see what possible demographic they should be worried about offending or if they think little timmy crying because he doesn’t have a cool looking shiny ceruledge would be the end of the world
Isn't the theory behind why Pikachu's shiny hardly changes is because they aren't willing to frick his palette up because the yellow is too iconic as the mascot? Pokken and Smash Bros. do the same thing
i've only played one pokemon game so i dont know much about the series, is this really what shinies are? just a different color version of an existing pokemon? thats it? i can barely tell the difference
There's cool shinies, but it is just a different color. The good ones are like Giratina and Rayquaza, compared to some Pokemon just looking like they have a different tone of the color they already have.
careful now, people who wish they had stat boosts or something are playing with a monkeys paw because the second they have any utility, you already know comphomosexuals will beg gamefreak to let you make pokemon shiny with an item.
either "radioactive green" shinies or the "same color palette but 1 tone down/up", with the only change is this little detail like eyes, nose or the tip of my magnets" crew as third place
defend this
the pokémon is garbage, shiny or not, so it's appropriate

Gamefreak doesn't like supporting shinies so they're putting intentionally bad ones in so you forget when they inevitably cut the feature out.
The real problem is they used the Shiny to promote a TCG set which just made the situation look extra braindead
SV in general shit the bed hard with numon shinies
not even generated by a computer, some designer, an actual human, sat down and thought this shit was okay
Is it really just the eyes? That's so fricking bad
still fricking mad these frickers don't switch colors
>no red-yellow Swordsman
>no Blue bomber
and frick you CA[REDACTED]M

They really went on record with that shit? Thats literally the whole fricking point of shinies holy shit

Thankfully Pokemon like Aurorus and Charizard are not gen 9 Pokemon or else they would have been subjected to this cuckoldry.
Espeon
HOW DARE U
No.
>Verification not required.
>be mascot of the entire franchise
>get this as a shiny
these are fine

missed opportunity to change the horns more

Yes

Game Freak plays favorites with Shinies
oh that looks better, but still the way people obsess over shiny hunting i figured they must be pretty op pokemon.

shinies should have lower stats so that the comphomosexuals who do use them can flex
They do in gen 2 and also some shinies can't have certain moves/stat combinations (event exclusive moves/colors).
>GOD tier shinies:
change a defining feature to a striking different color (Ponyta, Voltorb, Shuckle, etc)
>great shinies:
change the whole color to a pleasant/different tone that makes them stand out (Vaporeon, Magikarp, Rayquaza)
>ok shinies:
change minimal features to a different color (Umbreon, etc)
>bad shinies:
ran the Pokemon through a saturation filter and nothing more (most of the shinies)
>dogshit shinies:
give them a terrible color scheme (Espeon, etc)
Shiny Espeon is better than Shiny Vaporeon though
Hard truths, softly spoken.
>captha: 0WWWW
Have mercy.
I think it looks neat honestly
All the green shinies.
Frick you

is this game freak's master plan? make shinies so commin and so unappealing that no one cares when they take those away later too?
They were shit since gen 1 and 2 tho with shit like slowpoke
