I get he's an all rounder that is meant to be used for a little bit of everything, but the gameplay is so rock paper scissors already that having a guy that needs extra investment to do anything makes him pointless.
I'm in the middle of my second playthrough on Tactician, at level 4/5 he's kind of worthless. Almost every other party member is more useful than him. Most fights right now don't have chasms I can throw enemies into.

Multiclass sorcerer on him. 2 fireballs in a turn is busted af, short rest and good to do it again. Not to mention 2 eldritch blasts that hit multiple targets and push them back. Fiend lock is already pretty good but the synergy with sorc is outrageous.
I built him focusing on fire damage while also dropping elementals every fight by late game, I think what I like the most about him is how versatile he feels with the upcasts (and the Eldritch Blast spam of course), obviously his base build won't be better than respeccing into one of the broken classes but he still felt really good to play. Also, I killed Karlach so Mizora gave me a broken as frick Robe quite early so with that + the Mage Armor Warlock feat and a Shield he had very good AC.

Light Cleric is straight up busted, I usually pick 1 lvl of Storm Sorc and then go full Cleric. She is tanky as frick, she also disintegrates Black folk with her spirit guardians, then flies away like a fricking pixie.

Healing is pretty shit. Killing, crowd controlling, or debuffing things is generally going to result in a healthier party than healing ever will.

There's a ton of items in bg3 that make healing significantly better than in tabletop. Things like granting bless, temp hp, and damage resistance to everyone you heal for several turns, and healing yourself whenever you heal an ally. The only thing that makes a healer not 100% necessary is the stupid ability to long rest whenever you want. Temp HP in particular is still pretty good, and as a life cleric she is tanky af.
Pallock crit fishing smite build at least fits Wyll's personality and also doesn't require you change his base class (and gives you five levels in it, even). If Wyll taking Paladin levels isn't fair, then neither is Gale taking Sorc levels for the twinned haste you suggested. Maybe if they fix the extra attack stacking Pallock gains I'll agree with you, but until then he's no worse than anyone else.
Is Shart better as a Life Cleric or a Light Cleric?
Light cleric is amazing thanks to warding flare, and if you combine that with radiant orb abuse your party will basically never get hit again by anything aside from a long range opponent with advantage. Light cleric is one of the best classes in the game, to the extent that it makes every other cleric look moronic.
Worst thing is that I thought Sosiel had potential for being interesting, because he's a cleric with anger issues and there are some situations where you can push him to indulge, but then it just goes nowhere, and the only thing about him becomes this gay-ass boring quest about finding his brother, who, now that I think of it, is actually an even more boring character.
Though at least Sosiel had some decent banter with Regill a few times.
He’s ugly. Not even cause he’s black (but it doesn’t help) he has a very plain design. He doesn’t look cool at all. A big beard and dreadlocks could help him stand out, his current hairstyle is aggressively bland.
Two; he’s boring. In EA he was a lot more interesting - he was way more grandiose and bombastic, he had a lot of anger and intensity and edge to him, and he came across as pretty interesting with a lot of internal conflict: he had a lot of pride and rage and hate, and it compelled him to make a deal with the devil. But it also caused his fall and his hubris is pretty interesting cause he hasn’t overcome his demons. So when Wyll gets cursed, it’s actually a pretty interesting Dorian Gray thing - when he is the blade of frontiers he’s a pretty nasty person despite his heroic appearance, but when he is cursed to be a devil, when his true self is exposed, he is humbled and can actually be a true hero.
But Wyll has none of this intensity in the final product, and he doesn’t really work as a heroic/flat character either. He can’t be the super cool Paladin who changes other people. He is just…irrelevant. He doesn’t change anything or offer anything. He’s sort of tied to Karlach but it’s…eh? Who cares. Karlach is a flat character too but she makes up for it with her intense love for life and charisma which Wyll doesn’t have.

Women have a bad problem of trying to make fictional characters to essentially be women - I remember there were toys studies where boys wanted to BE Batman, girls wanted Batman to be like them. which explains all males in BG3.
The game needed some of the male characters from Broquest to balance it out. From what I’ve seen of the older Baldurs Gate and Divinity games they were better with this

How the frick is Ashley a medic?
I was an autist that refused to use items on fight, so a 3 caster + Guy is the way to go against a fair share of bosses, plus she could abuse some elemental weakness at times. Played on normal and then NG+ Uknown difficulty with 10x XP + inherited Capacity Core. Natalia is actually the one is shit and people don't use (or at least I hope so), she has low damage, her skills are trash for stunlocking with other party members and she is a worse healer than Tear.
The fact that people still talk about Ashley proves that saving her was the right choice. Nobody has anything to say about Kaidan one way or the other.
kaidan was cooler than ashley, who was just fricking annoying, but it makes more sense to kill kaidan because ashley being a whiney little c**t shouting "I CAN'T TRUST U BECAUSE U WORKED WITH CERBERUS BOOHOO" makes a LOT more sense than kaidan, who i feel like would trust that maybe you have a good reason for working with them, or at the very least would forgive you by the time ME3 rolls around. at least if he dies on ME1 his character doesn't get shit on by being turned into a whiney little homosexual, whereas ashley b***hing and moaning makes perfect sense.

The problem with Marle is that she is TOO supportive. You're missing out on a lot of damage if you use her, because she doesn't have an ultimate ability like Lucca's Flare or Crono's Luminaire, she stops learning offensive spells at Ice 2!
And her support is not that unique or vital. Of course she can heal, but so can Ayla, Robo and even Frog with high magic. She may cast Haste, but you can get Haste with Haste Helms.
Her only mega unique ability is Life 2, but that's it. But she is okay if is your first time playing.

Iirc Hiravia is considered to be the most disliked and annoying party member from the first PoE. Personal I also don't like the feathered black girl and don't care about dwarf huntress or any dlc [arty members.
Etna in basically any game where she's one of the main characters, outside of maybe DD2. I don't get how you're supposed to make her good. In 1, Laharl has a strong even stat spread and sword techs are good, Flonne has magic spells she can learn to become a tankier mage and healer, Etna focuses on spears which have odd specials, or axes that generally only target one bad guy at a time, with sexy beam scaling off her int (which she doesn't excel in). In 2, she comes too late and is purposely under leveled by story events, and even then she's not that good. The only reason I bring up DD2 is by the end game, she has an evility that boosts her stats if only she's deployed (also counts Prinnies being fine), but that ability is useless for non grinding when you're using several different units.
Should've just left him in Nocturne permanently the moment the game allowed us to switch him out with Elly and introduced the party swap system later for Billy

Yeah okay fair enough, I also only ever played on core so I can't claim to have beaten a higher difficulty than you. But Sosiel is really overpowered, the only character potentially stronger is Nenio if you're willing to abuse the fact that the game gives you infinite scrolls. It's a shame the two strongest party members in WotR are lame homosexuals, but people are definitely using them with regularity.

I was an autist that refused to use items on fight, so a 3 caster + Guy is the way to go against a fair share of bosses, plus she could abuse some elemental weakness at times. Played on normal and then NG+ Uknown difficulty with 10x XP + inherited Capacity Core. Natalia is actually the one is shit and people don't use (or at least I hope so), she has low damage, her skills are trash for stunlocking with other party members and she is a worse healer than Tear.

Obligatory Dwarf companion and I was also a Dwarf so he stayed in the party. I also liked the Pirate shtick.
He was a last minute addition because the forums cried there was no dwarf follower/origin, much like Karlach(who funny enough everyone in the forms crying there was no teifling origin for BG3) he was added in during EA and ended up going from the "most played" to the least played/picked a month after launched.
He was massively underwritten, really only has some story in Arx and some super brief relevance on Reaper's Coast. What's there isn't bad really, there just really isn't enough of it. Sebille and Fane have the most narrative content, then probably Red Prince, then Lohse, followed by Ifan with Beast at the bottom.
You can make him into a god tier aerotheurge battle mage for what it's worth, ridiculous damage, utility, and survivability all at once.
To be fair all the party members in that game suck.

Her and robo together are pretty good iirc, gives you a team heal. Honestly Chrono trigger is the only jrpg I've played where I liked all the playable characters.
She's fine, but iirc she has no native party-wide healing and kinda gets outclassed by Robo.
The problem with Marle is that she is TOO supportive. You're missing out on a lot of damage if you use her, because she doesn't have an ultimate ability like Lucca's Flare or Crono's Luminaire, she stops learning offensive spells at Ice 2!
And her support is not that unique or vital. Of course she can heal, but so can Ayla, Robo and even Frog with high magic. She may cast Haste, but you can get Haste with Haste Helms.
Her only mega unique ability is Life 2, but that's it. But she is okay if is your first time playing.
he was the most fun companion in 4 and brought the most flavor when used in Far Harbor, which is also the best part of the game

I remember using him but I had an AI mod that would make AI rogues shuffle into the enemy's backstab zone before attacking. The one I actually didn't use was the golem woman because she's got some gimmick build that doesn't work on max difficulty.

Iirc Hiravia is considered to be the most disliked and annoying party member from the first PoE. Personal I also don't like the feathered black girl and don't care about dwarf huntress or any dlc [arty members.

Etna in basically any game where she's one of the main characters, outside of maybe DD2. I don't get how you're supposed to make her good. In 1, Laharl has a strong even stat spread and sword techs are good, Flonne has magic spells she can learn to become a tankier mage and healer, Etna focuses on spears which have odd specials, or axes that generally only target one bad guy at a time, with sexy beam scaling off her int (which she doesn't excel in). In 2, she comes too late and is purposely under leveled by story events, and even then she's not that good. The only reason I bring up DD2 is by the end game, she has an evility that boosts her stats if only she's deployed (also counts Prinnies being fine), but that ability is useless for non grinding when you're using several different units.
Should've just left him in Nocturne permanently the moment the game allowed us to switch him out with Elly and introduced the party swap system later for Billy
