1) The one on the right has more triangles, maybe double or triple, but most importantly uses PBR shading and different maps (at least albedo and normal) of much higher resolution than the diffuse one on the right. Is what I said right?
2) Also: geometry is mostly handed by CPU, I think, while textures are handled the GPU. Is that right?
If what I said is right, why did the workload for GPUs increase at a higher rate than that for CPUs? Are CPUs not getting better at a fast enough rate?
I'm not going to argue with you and your shit taste. But the Assassin's Creed 2 looks like a straight up downgrade. Instead of just straight up porting it they literally spent time and money to make it look objectively worse. That's actually impressive. The GTA remasters may look like hot garbage but at least you can say there's more polygons and shadows or whatever. Assassin's Creed can't even say that as far as I can tell. I guess maybe the colors are more vibrant or something but you can probably just use a reshade for that.
I agree with most but Myst comparison is just dumb, original Myst is ugly as frick and always was.
The new version isn't much better but it's still an improvement.
About half of those are just personal preference, a third are just poor work from Indian devs, and the rest are objectively better looking. At least most shitposting has merit.

I do think that CPUs haven't had that much of an improvement, have they - hence why there was the whole thing about putting multiple cores on a chip, since the cores themselves couldn't get that much faster.
