I have been playing every souls game past the first with music turned to 0 because the soundtracks sound AI-made. I remember some Anon mentioning that the main composer was interviewed and he just game a "I just make soundtracks for the money man"-tier cynical response and I fully believe it.
But those are the best pieces in the entire game. The ambience is actually great, it's the boss tracks that, for the most part, sound incredibly generic.
I fricking cannot STAND these awful minimalistic overworld traversal tracks or musical stings that some games have. RDR2 is especially egregious in this regard.
Imagine if Souls games had actual music like this in them, I might actually remember a single song and it might even actually have some fricking personality instead of the same three plot points and characters over and over.
Most Elden Ring boss themes are forgettable on their own but made great in conjunction with the cutscene/fight
Like Radagon looking back at the player as his theme starts playing, Malenia blooming and "Upon my name as Godfrey, *theme bombastically crashes in* the first Elden Lord"
So like what the hell happened to the guy that made Zinnia's theme?
Did he realize he was too good for this shit series?
Did the other composers get butthurt because they got btfo'd effortlessly?
It is objectively bad, it’s mixed like shit. You can’t make out a single instrument in the entire thing besides the decaying remains of what once was a drum backing, and then the robot voice jumps in, twice as loud as anything else taking over the whole song. If it was mixed correctly it could stand to be pretty good, but this is garbage
Is there a story behind this?
Did the audio file for the music just fricking corrupt or something? Was it a social experiment? What were they thinking?
lol he just can't do anything outside really 90s-ass prog or modern classical, every other genre he tries it turns out pretty bad. I am surprised he ever even MADE an EDM-oriented track like this, its actually so out of character for him
Posting Sakuraba is cheating. If there's ever been a composer who blatantly just phones it in for the paycheck it's him.
Ironically he's also responsible for the Souls games having such shitty soundtracks since he created the blueprint for it's sound direction with Dark Souls and somehow it's been this game of telephone where every composer imitating him since is even worse at composing remotely memorable music.
the sad part is that the perc and bass sound pretty fricking good but it's ruined by the uninteresting distorted brass/string that just doesn't sit well in the mix, I get the design memo was probably something like "make it sound post apocalyptic but not too weird" but if the composer was just left to develop the soundscape further i think it might've been pretty interesting
also as a side note 2:15 onwards would fit into a good industrial metal breakdown
Reminds me of being in the arcade, playing Pole Position (and similar sounding games)

>BioWare (the main creators of Sonic Chronicles) had a full, originally composed soundtrack made for the game. However, before release they had to pull the stage music out for a variety of legal reasons. Under pressure of this, along with time constraints, BioWare took pre-existing MIDI files of music from earlier Sonic games from different Sonic fan websites, and added them as the Stage music. The Sonic Community has criticized this decision greatly. Time constraints also made them use an unfinished custom soundfont. Because of this, some percussion instruments in certain songs are missing. An example of this can be found in the song "Nocturne."
the only disaster here is their own damn fault for not clearing legal rights

it sucks because yeah its fricking cool and they clearly spent a long time on it but it just fricking sucks to have to chase down the monster in
Idk lol they really went and made the music for the two least robotic places sound hi-tech, especially when they make a point of Area Zero being the most natural place left
Stripped all the soul and feel of the originals
The Crash and Snow Level from MMZ3 remixes do sound good though
I don't hear anything

The Elden Ring soundtrack was so forgettable compared to previous FromSoft games, such a shame.
Godskin Apostle fricking slaps, it's probably in my top 5 FROM boss themes
They’re all forgettable
All Souls games have samey soundtracks. You probably just prefer the older ones because nostalgia.
Plus the Lichdragon theme is great, kys
Ancestor spirit ost bangs, contrarian-kun.
wtf?
they were so forgettable I didnt even notice after 2 playthroughs every boss has a different theme

Imagine if Souls games had actual music like this in them, I might actually remember a single song and it might even actually have some fricking personality instead of the same three plot points and characters over and over.

imagine hearing this nonstop
the main theme for this area is so fricking good what happened
Ancient Forest feels like it was made for a different game
idk why they looked at the awful 4th gen vertical maps and said "lets do that again but 10x worse!"
it sucks because yeah its fricking cool and they clearly spent a long time on it but it just fricking sucks to have to chase down the monster in
>we want the Ganker audience
UH UH UH UH YEAH! UH UH UH YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!
Xenoblade Chronicles X OST was pure kino.
I want to kill myself listening to this, especially while trying to do frustrating platforming segments with horrendous camera control.
I like it
Yeah for about one minute it is tolerable, listening to it for 10-15 minutes while you repeatedly fall off platforms and lilly pads is not enjoyable.
maybe don't fall off them then?
just a great song with some bad memories attached
this is a great song
anyone posted the dog ending from silent hill 2?
I get that it's a joke but still, god damn...
It's bad on purpose though
kek what the frick was yamaoko smoking
DUUU DUUU DUUUU DUUUUUU
what i imagine semen retention sounds like
holy frick
I was in this temple for too long.
Tell me which song you guys like more. This song?
Or this song?
The whole Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town OST is fricking garbage
Just kidding, the soundtrack is kino, just a bit of an acquired taste
Can't beat this marvel:
why the frick did they do it?
Idk lol they really went and made the music for the two least robotic places sound hi-tech, especially when they make a point of Area Zero being the most natural place left
Stripped all the soul and feel of the originals
The Crash and Snow Level from MMZ3 remixes do sound good though
