    What is sudden death

      Anonymous

During Sudden Death, players begin a new game. Players are required to gain an advantage in number of remaining Pokémon over their opponent. After each turn has been completed, tournament staff will determine the number of Pokémon that each player has remaining to determine if an advantage has been gained.

If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining at the end of the turn, the game continues for another turn.

If either player has more remaining Pokémon than their opponent at the end of the turn, that player wins the game.

If both players’ final Pokémon faint on the same turn, the game will end naturally. In this case, the game will utilize in-built match resolution to determine the result of the game.

So it's just whoever gets the first KO wins?

Yep. Thousands of dollars and hours played, culminating in the first KO of the battle.

    >Keep pushing the online/VGC component
    >Keep pandering to the vocal slop eaters who don't want to be challenged, only want easy times, good vibes, power fantasy etc etc
    >They eventually foster a community of lazy, unmotivated diaper babies who are repulsed at the idea of having to own and play multiple games to work towards having a good team
    >Something that came as a fricking standard for games prior

I've always thought the best thing for Pokemon would be single player focused games and a PvP oriented Stadium style game that imports Pokemon from your game saves/Home but seeing them seethe over having to play other games in the series despite these fricks being the same people who make these games sell so well to begin with gives me a mighty schadenfreude boner. Even moreso with the realisation that not only are they being DQ'd, they're being DQ'd while in a foreign country that took them thousands of (insert relevant currency here) to get to where they could very well not speak the local language, which is necessary as many places don't serve English speakers. There's a very bitter part of me that loves to see it.

I swear Gamefreak briefly mentioned wanting to set up some form of battling component for Home at some point, which may speak to your point further if it is implemented and people inevitably cry about needing to “catch ‘em all” for their comp Home team.

They made the LAN fricky by introducing a new battle background and camera angles. Supposedly this tanked the performance of the game causing things to go to Sudden Death based on some accounts on Twitter.
Dunno if that's actually the case but given how technically buggered the games are, I wouldn't be surprised.

I was looking at some Gen 5 pokemon onwards today and thinking I've hardly used them because there is no game like Stadium or BR that exposes you to them in a purely battle capacity. It's It's a wasted opportunity

The gimmick of Stadium was “see your 2D Pokemon in full 3D and play the GB games on your TV on N64” and that’s not a thing anymore. They have no reason to release a new Stadium now.

            Anonymous

the purpose of a new stadium would be so they could focus on making the current games polished, full, immersive, and fun single player experiences
and have someone else (like bandai or nintendo ead) make a new stadium game
with all the sexy animations and online battle galore, with the focus of multiplayer play and connectivity with the mainline games
            everyone wins in this scenario

I've been saying this shit for years, but HOME should've been the thing they pushed for the last few years, not individual games. Like, doing the shit PLA did where there's no online should've been standard. Online battles, trading, etc should've all been done through HOME. It would've given them the ability to regulate shit better and given people a reason to actually use the service. Like, imagine it, a modular HOME where every service except game play is a part of a service they provide that people CAN (but aren't required) to pay a subscription service fee to use. It would print money. The games would just be a means to catch and raise Pokemon at that point, which could open up the option for more intricate stories in the games too. Frick, then all you gotta do is add shit to HOME anyway (they could do shit like online contests for instance).

Hell, if make the Pokemon 2D and it'll basically just turn into a really easy to program battle sim. Could allow for all the gimmicks and whatever else they want. You could even let people change out the art for their Pokemon and offer ways to acquire new images for it based on the games played. Add to this stuff like custom art releases for Pokemon from specific artists or whatever on a gatcha system (roll for cash) or just micro transactions (pay for paint) and it would print fricking money. Bam.

You could even add the 3D battle system as a thing that only shows up for world tourneys or something, too. Just so you can show off at Worlds while everyone typically plays the 2D version at home. Would I prefer to have online battles in game? Frick yes. Would something like this still totally work? Also yes.

A new battle background caused multiple separate matches to all disconnect at the exact same time? No way…..this is definitely isn’t just bullshit a /vp/ shitposter made up…

Performance seemed the same too me, smae usual shit.
Seems it was more an actual hardware issue with the LAN connection

I heard it was the docks they were using. If you even just bump them they will disconnect. They were different than the docks used in the past that allowed for you to adjust them without any issue.

After all of this I was stunned to discover that Poketourney trannies don't actually buy the games and just gen Pokemon when building them is the easiest save for 0IV Pokemon.

Why even bother competing if you don't even like playing the games?
