In Royal's post game a few of the story beats pulled on my heart. The biggest one was when "I Believe" played while I was running through the final palace due to the rammifications of what'll happen to THAT party member should you prevail. Plus I cry at p3/p4/p5 when the credits roll because I enjoyed myself that much and it felt so sad for the journeys to be over. If anything is say P4 had the least substance of the nu-Persona. Its big moment was undone like 10 minutes of dialog later and given how adorable the character was it was a given something was going to befall her.
>Kept waiting for the Father/Daughter bonding moments between Date and Mizuki playing 2 >It doesn't happen
At least Lien and Kizuna's romance was sweet...
Visual novels are cheating and I won't count them. For regular games I think it might be undertale. For some fricking reason there's a random line that got me in the final boss fight on the pacifist route that still chokes me up. I think the only other non-vn game that got me was the ending of rdr1 and persona 3.
Hades for me defs

not that anon but I'll have to dissagree with you and agree with him. It doesn't matter hoe good a story is if the gameplay, game itself, medium sucks ass.
Your sarcastic comparison argues that a shit a car is not a car, which is not true.
A good story is a good story. Doesn't matter what the medium is or in what art style it's presented.
A shit story is a shit story. Doesn't matter what the medium is or in what art style it's presented.
>"The wheels are bald and the drive shaft stutters at the gentlest brake, but a car's a car!"
No. Get fricked, weeb.
A story told is a story told, regardless of the medium or presentation
You're all wrong. There is no such thing as a good or bad medium and stories cannot be adapted from one medium to another without changing at least some aspects. A good story in a literary format can suck donkey dick in a movie format, and a good game can be a terrible musical. How the story is told is as important as the story itself

true. Which is why FFXV's story is bad because it's told through:
A game
A CGI movie
Anime shorts
DLCs
a true ending novel

alright tell my why you think for example Ghibli movies are all garbage? And while we're on the topic of animation, Disney movies? Surely at least one or two of these iconic movies is good enough for you? You're not seriously trying to say that animation is a worthless medium are you?

There's no need for further elaboration.

The studio ghibli movies and "anime" are the same category of animation. It's all anime when it originates from japan.
It's literally the definition for anime.
If you think that's being defensive you're a grade-a moron.

Then you're finally entering territory where you're objectively wrong.
Good character development.
That's up to personal preference if you enjoy a certain medium more than a different one. For example, saying that a story is bad because you don't enjoy the gameplay is dumb.
All anime and anime adjacent media is trope-bloated bullshit. Reevaluate your taste and come back with a better palate.
Most of it is shit, I agree.
Saying that everything of a certain medium or style is shit, is simply untrue. Try arguing without tryin to insult the other. Maybe that way you'd be taken more seriously.

Your point has nothing to do with the argument here. I completely agree with you that translating a story from one medium to another can not always be done in a satisfying way.
The problem here is that the other anon is saying that you can't tell a good story in a game that has, visually, an anime style.
Anyone with a little bit of sense should be able to realize that this is moronic arguing. That's like saying you can't have a good story in a book because you hate reading.

>FF7R's combat animations were a downgrade but at least the gameplay wasn't completely braindead
Yeah, I would rather have sub-par animations and actual gameplay over "style and no substance"
You can laugh at me but the moment where Jack has to murder all his friends after losing his GF, pleading to forget the events but being unable. made me feel like shit.
the only really bad animes are the trashy "lots of girls go after a dense moron and nothing else happens" shows, like:
Infinite Stratos
Sword Art Online
Highschool DxD
Date a Live
Bakemonogatari
>Sir, I... I just wanna say, I'm sorry. >No need, Captain. I'm humbled to have served with you. >Thank you, sir. Bannon, out.
>I'm gonna do good things tomorrow, though. God knows I've screwed things up before. Probably should have stayed out of the army in the first place instead of signing up because of what I thought Dad would think. It doesn't really matter now. Tomorrow, I'm gonna do good, no matter what it takes. Take care, okay? Bye, Mom. I love you.
I literally nothing about this game or the prequel other than that both of them seemingly have a pozzed scene. I have not even seen what the gameplay or plot is.
Black Souls 2. But that is because I did some things in real life to some women that you do in the game and then get guilt tripped over.
Fictional media has never made me cry because I'm not a woman or a gay
Every Persona game outside P1,PQ2, P2.5, and the dancing games made me cry at lease once. Persona 3-5 got me multiple times each.
What was sad about 5 nothing of substance happened?
You need a therapist.

this moment, shame the game sucked

that entire section sucked because you couldn't actually explore because of Iggy being blind and if you got too far away you would get a game over.
The fricking place where you can only use the ring was better than "babysit the blind guy"
The ring section was the only good part of the game. I guess DLC1 was okay, but everything else sucked
