Honest question is Bioshock 2 really better than Bioshock 1? I did play 1 and It was a fun game (I hated Infinite) but I never played 2 so is it worth it?
It's definitely worth it. It's more fun just based on gameplay alone (dual wielding weapons and plasmids, more satisfying gameplay in general) and the story is more human and emotional.
gameplay wise yes
story wise it depends on your preference
bioshock 2 feels like a more personal story
bioshock 1 was all around "the twist" and building rapture up
Yes because of perceptions at the time. Things are different in retrospect. 1 was great and revolutionary and had a huge impact on gaming but for a lot of people who never played them at the time they'll still have a better time playing 2. Infinite is garbage though and it never deserves to be rated higher then 2 ever.
I like 2 because the gameplay was polished and the story was more personal, what made it more impactful. I wouldn't say 2 was strictly better than 1, because both are excellent. But I personally enjoyed 2 more.
1 leans more heavily into the horror of the breakdown, it feels like the city has only just gone off the rails, and everyone is dangerous and insane in ways you can't predict or comprehend. 2 only really hits those moments with the first few Lamb shrines.
I prefer the ambience of feeling like rapture is a real place that I'm just exploring naturally and finding little clues and touches that make the place feel real and big and lived in but now abandoned. It's comfy. 2 does that really well.
Definately, I couldn't stay interested in B1 long enough to finish it. B2 had me so engaged that I wanted more after completing it. Bioshock Infinite was frick annoying. I won't shit on the game directly. I hate time travel and alternate universe stories.
>Fourth game might actually be good if he's not involved.
He's not. Mix of new blood and BioShock vets from old Irrational as leads. Could be interesting.
Got announced in 2019 with the establishment of a new studio called Cloud Chamber. Hasn't actually been formally showed off yet but a few leaks here and there have popped up. >Takes place in a 1960s Antarctic city called Borealis >The main gimmick of this setting is that there are actually two cities with "radically different ideologies". These two cities are sharing a "flipside" border, with one being exactly atop of the other one and vice versa. >The first city has a "free and wealthy society", led by a "successful entrepreneur", while the other "flipped" city is an underground world ruled by an autocratic dictator who wages war against the progressive city, called "vertical war". >Developers listed books such as The City and the City, We, and Shantaram as their inspiration for the plot and the setting, as well as the iconic Citizen Kane movie.
I’m sure this will in no way be turned into racial/class warfare echoing the exact same themes of Infinite, loaded with tons of metaphors from today/yesterday like
Can't wait for the globohomosexual vs brexit / trump metaphor
I have so little hope after infinite and it really does sound like a rehashing of the infinite hamfisted political plot but I'll try to hope for now. Cope comes later.

Basically this.
Yeah Lamb isn't a likable villain but she's very fun to hate unlike Ryan who was more entertaining but there's nothing wrong with a bad guy you can actually hate and there's nothing like pure hatred for your b***h of an ex. Exploring the levels and learning about what rapture was actually like for the inhabitants in 2 is more rewarding and feels more organic as well. Also the characters are more interesting to me.
It's true. She's a real piece of shit and every time she interrupts you to spew some political bullshit gibberish at you in between you finding audio logs of her abusing your daughter it just makes you hate her more. The righteous hate is so good it's like a drug by the end and it feels so nice and warm inside your heart.
It's true it still hits hard. They set up like he's just another rapture scumbag and you can't trust him yet he sacrifices himself to try to help you. It's great but tragic. But frick them I still wish they gave us the option to spare him like the governors or whatever. I know he did a lot of bad shit but he deserved to make it out.
Sinclair was brainwashed to kill you, there was no reasoning with him at that point. The kindest thing you could do for him was to put him out of his misery.
Just knock him out, man. Eleanor removed Delta's conditioning. She should've been able to do it for Sinclair too! Also initially he was gonna be tied up and just executed or something so, this was at least better than that.
I'm sure this was intended but I expected him to stab you in the back until the end.
To find out he's actually the broest of bros was at least as big a twist for me as Biochock 1's.
reminder that ken's "new" poject is in development hell, has been restarted multiple times and the dev team is in shambles. It sounds like he tried to apply the sandbox style to the narrative of the game itself and it has either failed terribly, or is too difficult to do.

Yes Bioshock 2 is great.
There's a reason Bioshock is considered one of the best games of the past 20 years and 2 isn't.
Yes because of perceptions at the time. Bioshock 1 and 2 are both great games but I definitely prefer 2. It's really fricking fun.
yes it's a lot better but still not that good

I wouldnt say it's better but it's definitely as good as 1.
Gameplay is much better, atmosphere is worse, and story is up to personal preference (2 doesn't shit the bed near the end).
>Atmosphere is worse
Howso?

Ken is a hack. They did better without him. Fourth game might actually be good if he's not involved.

I'm ready for Antarctic kino.

What's this? Did a new Bioshock get announced?
Got announced in 2019 with the establishment of a new studio called Cloud Chamber. Hasn't actually been formally showed off yet but a few leaks here and there have popped up.

Sounds cool, hope it works out better than infinite.

So US vs Soviet Union?
>yet another re-thread of Rapture
just stick to Rapture as a setting, you'll never beat art deco
basically Bioshock 2 is a QOL improvement over Bioshock 1. Everything except for the main plot (and maybe the levels) is better about 2
The main plot is more interesting imo.
Basically this.

>Lamb isn't a likable villain
She's easily the all time most despicable vidya villain and that's what makes her so good.
She's believable evil.
It's true. She's a real piece of shit and every time she interrupts you to spew some political bullshit gibberish at you in between you finding audio logs of her abusing your daughter it just makes you hate her more. I miss this homie like you wouldn't believe
A real bro till the bitter end.
It was such a gut punch when he was forcibly turned in to a big daddy, and you had to put him down.
