>Bought during last steam sale
>Played for like, 2 hours
>Found it boring as shit, annoying design elements IMO
>Dropped it
Didn't do it for me, and I enjoyed most previous "newer" RE titles (4,5, and yes, even 6).
I figure they were going back to the older game roots, but man, walking around a bunch of identical looking corridors with very limited healing items whilst some dude would chase you around the whole time whilst I'm trying to solve puzzles or whatever was just NOT fun for me.
Felt like a very "modern" type horror game, where the emphasis was more on flashy gross out visuals than compelling gameplay.
Of course that was just 2 hours and I'm a shitter and all but man, I just couldn't take it any more.

RE7 was just utter trash.
Literally one of the most embarrassing clusterfricks I've ever been tricked into buying.
This shit is not RE. It definitely is not "going back to its roots". It's generic as frick zoomer Twtich-stream bait game.
This shit is not scary either. It's literally a pile of the worst modern "horror" tropes plagiarized from various other sources.
And no, it does not get any better. Nor does it have any replay value.
I legit played RE6 for the very first time last year, after a decade of avoiding it like a plague, and yes - it was better than this garbage.
RE died back in 2005.
Kinda surprised to have the first post in some agreement with me. Was expecting immediate insults.
Cool.
This site's filled with literal triple-A shills these days, but the honeymoon period is over.
I know literally no RE-fan, new or old, that would've "liked" RE7. Won't even bother with 8 and up.
The nu-Remakes were also trash.
>Actioncucks still thinking their opinion matters
Seeing this kind of repetitive stupidity should be boring at this point but tbh its still funny.
>RE died back in 2005.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought RE4 ruined the franchise.
It's a great game that revolutioned the industry, sure, but it really should've become its own IP.
REmake-2-3, 4-5-6, and 7-8-9 each have different goals and have different sets of people who like them. And overall, they are all great games. I think everything worked out fantasticly in the end
It's not like they will never create RE games in the style of 1/2/3 anymore. Code Veronica Remake is still on the horizons somewhere
>Glad I'm not the only one who thought RE4 ruined the franchise.
It really didn't. The following post-casualization era Crapcom sure did. RE5 bending the knee and becoming what it is now is the first sign of the modern cancer kikcing in.
Everyone who doesn’t see that it started in 4 is a blind moron. RE soul died after 3
The new core gameplay changes could've stayed, but the story and general atmosphere went completely off the rails into full-moron casualization territory with 4. It literally throws the fall of Umbrella and the events from RE2 CV out the door in its condensed 2-minute intro cutscene. The B-horror factor is replaced with straight-up Bollywood action flick cheese and once you reach the Island it's not even a horror game anymore, sans the lab segments with regenerators (and shit was already getting out-of-hand through the castle segment.)
Honestly, if they had stuck with the game's intended plot & atmosphere from its earlier betas with an infected schizo Leon retrieving Sherry instead of the presidents daughter, and infiltrating the Spencer castle estate in an effort to destroy Umbrella's remaining labs instead of some random literal-who Spaniard-Amish town, then perhaps it could've been salvageable.
resident evil was bigger than survival horror, it was an action adventure AAA first on the ps1, re4 is in line with what they set out to do with the original title even if time has shown re4's style of gameplay has become rote and the franchise is more interesting aiming for the original Survival horror games.
>even 6
There’s your problem. You have no taste
Guess that makes 4 shit as well according to you.
Neat.
Not him but yes, I like to pretend 4 5 and 6 don't exist
6 was fun if you're not a friendless homosexual who thinks resident evil HAS to be a slow paced spooky game.
Not saying it was a GREAT action game, but it was fine. Certainly not worth the harsh reception it received as a standalone game.
Even fallout 76 is fun with friends. Being an ok coop game doesn’t make it a good game.
Mostly true, but I never said it was a bad singleplayer game. It's better in coop, and I'd even say great at times. But even as a single player experience, it's fine. It's more than functional, it has a cool movement system, it has nice visuals and good weapon feedback, etc.
I had fun with it, friend or not.
half life 2 is a piece of shit
>2+2=5
RE7 is weird in that it becomes more like a normal RE game as it goes on
resident evil was dead to me after 5 and 6.
7 revitalized my love for it.
8 killed it again.
>7 revitalized my love for it.
>8 killed it again.
Kind of true. Atmospheric survival horror>action.
Did you know they originally were going to make Marguerite scarier but scrapped it because it "might be too much for the players"?
I fricking hate the current state of gaming man...
7 literally killed any hope for the future RE games for me, and Demake2 proved that I was wrong.
It's just hilarious to see the same shit-eaters cry about demake3 and 8 after praising the exact same garbage just a couple years prior.
>Felt like a very "modern" type horror game
in some ways yes, but the indecision and choice you have when the mansion opens up is very much not modern.
>get hurt once
>in a game with limited healing items that it encourages you to save
>puts a fricking blood filter and large splotches over the screen,,,
>,,,that don't go away until you heal.
>You get hit once, take a small amount of damage
>no reason to heal yet
>but that splotch never. fricking. goes. away
Dropped the game myself after I realized that. How can a company frick up so badly as to leave shit like that in? Did they not think it would become really, really fricking annoying to constantly have your vision obscured by that shit for the entirety of the fricking game?
Absolute apes.
I think it could have been better had they not called it "Resident Evil".
Lowers expectations and lets it be its own thing.
7 and 8 are not RE games, they're first person reaction image making videos for zoomer troons to post on youtube.
I couldn’t finish it. Way too scary but that’s because the dude that chases you around reminds me of my dad who tried to murder me. Not a fun experience for me to play that game.
how are you still alive?
I’m very much dead inside
Yes and he tried to kill me with a hatchet too.
Did your dad also go HERE PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY?
It's a tech demo for PS VR with the RE name slapped on.
it is a modern game. if the game takes more than 5 minutes to get into the meat of the action then it isn't worth your time. unfortunately that means almost every AAA game released in the past decade is not worth your time.
RE7 > RE2 HD
