Dark Souls 2 has vastly improved hitboxes compared to Dark Souls 1
it sure did
benis
The good:
>Umbral realm is a great idea, it has a lot of jumpscares in some moments when you turn on the lamp and suddenly a zombie hits your back
>Zones are great looking and the shortcut porn is powerful on this game, even better than LoP
>The fact that you can go to two endgame areas, the ice part and the abbey, makes the game very good for replayability or for rushing upgrades/certain items
>voice acting is competent
The bad:
>quests are bad, a lot of fail states and the rewards for doing them are shit
>wasted a lot o budget with a INTRO cutscene and prologue cutscene but there isn't a single cutscene for the endings, just a 10s clip for the Adyr ending
>Adyr boss fight is a joke, probably the worst final boss in any Action RPG
>balancing is non existent, you get the best spells for Umbral and Radiance on the first hours of the game and they are OP as frick, Radiance one do 1k damage without a upgraded catalyst and players have 800~900 HP tops, it completely cheeses bosses and shit
>monster variety is bad, 17 out of the 31 bosses are reused as normal enemies in the story, this is just lazy, monster HP and damage scales but the exp they gave don't scale
>PvP is complete shit and co-op is broken
>"this game has so much world interconnectivity!"
Where? It's entirely linear up to the hub, then you have one useless "shortcut" in Pilgrim's Perch, then it's entirely linear again until you beat Progeny, which is the first time you're even offered two different paths to continue on, with the only other thing coming to mind right now being another completely useless shortcut from the Crimson Rector boss fight back to Pilgrim's Perch.
So when does all of this "Dark Souls 1 tier" connectivity start? Because so far it doesn't exist.
shortcut =/= interconnectivity
You absolute ... nevermind.
Either way, the zones are barely connected with each other.
morons hyping up the "interconnectivity" of this game are fricking funny. It's not even close to souls games and it also loses to Hellpoint and Salt and Sanctuary.
>Hellpoint and Salt and Sanctuary
and The Last Hero of Nostalgaia
Here's your (You), you can leave the thread now.
holy shit and people tell me Lords of the Fallen is badd? lmao
That's just sad and pathetic. What is your response Fromsissies?
NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! BUT LORDS OF THE FALLEN HAS ICE SKATING FRICKING ICE SKATING NO STOP DELETE THIS RIGHT NOW!!
>sliding
>"And darrks souls would never because it's so weighty and not slop..."
yeah they actually believe this lmao when there's direct evidence to the contrary
What the frick is this supposed to prove? Nothing in that webm slides you remotely as much as the dagger moveset in LotF
>soulstards are so in deep they dont see how bad this looks
Skill issue. Difference is ER is tough LoF is just tedious.
not hard
It is hard, sorry.
hated it
Make it less like Shart Souls 2 and more like Elden Ring
Make more competent enemies and less ambushes, make better combat and less cheesing with ranged and spells, and make the bosses have more than 3 attacks.
Also remove the perfect block system, replace it with guard counter
Why dont you play Ninja Gaiden instead lol. "competent enemies" my ass
>Ninja Gaiden
>competent enemies
>less ambushes
>like in elden ring
>enemy in corner attacks you for the 10000th time
>>less ambushes
>>like in elden ring
correct
>it's not an ambush if you do the thing right and dont die
okay so like in Lords of the Fallen?
skill issue
Why do you have so little health?
YIKES these are some shit opinions
Levels are too much like a maze but some levels look really nice. It has too much of the worst levels from the soul series like the mines, the swap levels. The area was just the beginning when you're outside and Abbey of the hallowed sisters are the only areas that I actually liked. Rest were meh or superbad. The platforming jumps are bad, holding the run button to jump is is stupid.
All the enemies are shown by 30% of the game, they could've at least changed the textures of the same enemies in different zones. Bosses as regular mobs are shown several times a couple of minutes later. The game should've been a bit smaller with less maze-like design but a few more mobs/variety.
Combat is good with good amount of variety in weapons/spells. The camera bob doesn't feel like it fits with the motion of the hits. The parries feel soft and not satisfying, might be the sound or camera shake timings. The tinct is the best addition to the game. I personally didn't like the Umbral world/real world dynamic it kinda felt like you always had to go back and see the things you missed. Vestige Seeds is one of the worst things implemented in the game, It always felt like the game could've had it's own proper points but you're forced to use seeds at certain locations because they didn't want to do it and they added this feature so you HAVE to use the seeds in these locations or get fricked.
>Levels are too much like a maze
Most of them are actually linear as frick. My biggest issue with the game. Especially later on, all levels after the Manse are just series of narrow paths.
Nah it's always two different paths, then when you go in one there are two more paths, then you go in another one two more paths.
The mine/sewer level in Lords of the Fallen is one of the only good ones, what do you mean?
>and how a sequel could improve over the original
three times a charm I guess. How will the next reboot be called?
Lords of the Fallen (2035)
why was Ganker hyping this game up so much? it's incredibly medicore
ok enough about Elden Ringers
oh i see it was just a shill campaign for the game, gotcha
ohhh elden poopy mmmmm
>meanwhile, in slop of the goyim poojeets were too moronic to implement an auto kill after x amount of time
forgot webm
>chainmail skirt is blatantly clipping through pants
embarassing
Actual shills.

Notice how all these "loremasters" mysteriously vanished after the game was released.
>look through the blatant marketer posts
>a few of them got paid to say "Black person" and "gay"
SAGE
what they mean by "competent enemies" are enemies that will literally cheat and aimbot you
this is what AssMongBald called "GREATEST GAME TO EVER BE MADE" as he got filtered by Pilgrims Perch (Blighttown 2.0) and the Congregator of Flesh for "artificial difficulty"
yeah and he's right imagine a 100 iq midwit being correct while you're wrong LMAO
he's finally playing it again and is getting filtered again by the mimics, range mobs, and dogs says he doesn't play videogames for the difficulty. This is your typical LOTF hater, btw.
When did I subscribe to your blog posts? Fricking have a nice day
he reached Lower Calrath and uninstalled it, game was "too frustrating, and tedious because I have to think and learn what does what."
When did I subscribe to your eceleb blog posts? Fricking have a nice day
Worse than Wo Long, he said. Too many mobs, not enough bonfires (vestiges), too tedious, and have to think and know the game mechanics to not get frustrated. Game Uninstalled. Will never try it again.
No one cares about your stupid fricking e-celeb.
People who say "artificial difficulty" are morons. Not hyperbole, these people are actually stupid. Asmon makes millions being a moron on twitch, such is life.
holy crap you lof poos are fricking pathetic
>holy crap you lof poos are fricking pathetic
somebody post the webms of the end credit names of all the poos that worked on Elden Rangzz
I recently beat the mines area and ended up in upper cagarath.
I went back to explore those two bell doors and made it to vestige of their later area.
Should I continue down cagarath or do I ping pong around?
Go finish the bell door that opens of the ice area, first.
>Uhhh yeah this souls clone might be shit but the original is just as shit!
Why are you Black folk here? This is just sad. not a single person playing lotf genuinely believes that any of the souls games are worse.
Enemy variety is an objective weakness, anyone defending it has got to be a paid shill
There's like 4 or 5 enemy types in the Umbral and they are the same for the entire game, they should have had a few unique for each area at least, and the general enemy variety is just some variants of dog, archer/mage and melee guys, there's not a single interesting monster enemy in the game
As someone who feels like DS3 (also ER, but DS3 in particular) are severely lacking in soul and jank compared to Demon's and DS1, how would I feel about this game?
just give me a soulslike that doesn't just try to be a glorified action game. I have not even bothered to play Lies of Pee.
The entire game has that unpolished feel of Lost Izalith and the weapon movesets are very jank, you'll love it
It's a game for DS2 enjoyers.
I'm sold.
Don't believe this fricking lie, DS2 is my favorite Souls game and Lords of the Fallen was the worst trash I've played in years.
>give me a soulslike that doesn't just try to be a glorified action game
The frick does this mean
combta is fast like an action game but enemy variety is made in a way to be played like an tactical RPG using consumes and ranged
>I actually like shit games
just kys
Good
>visuals
>some areas looked really nice, especially during rain
>it was quite long
>sprint on left stick is a good idea, the clawgrip meme needs to stop
Bad
>floaty combat, you move 5 meters forward every time you attack, same with enemies, a guy can magnet iceskate to you from across the room, theres no feeling of control, or mechanics of outranging attacks since everything can snap to everything instantly with zero logic behind it
>bosses were trivial and very boring, way too little hp, too slow; you should never be able to first try a boss in a souls game, and I havent died to one since fricking horseman in second area lol; final boss is an absolute insult
>almost every boss appears as world enemy very soon after, sometimes even next room; just hilarious
>constantly spawning hordes of hollows in umbral are just tedious to deal with and add nothing to the gameplay other than being obnoxious and boring
>theres no point to interconnectivity of the gameworld if you have teleport when the get go; even Dark Souls, the game youre trying to copy so hard, didnt do it once they gave u Lordvessel, since devs of that understood WHY interconnectivity was there in the first place
>very few weapons, and all of them share the same moveset within weapon category
>no weapon arts
>no weapon infusions either, youre stuck with whatever game is letting you find and you cant customize ie. longsword to be a inferno scaling longsword; Dark Souls 1 did this 12 years ago lol
>awful balance of armor weight, theres no benefit in going light since you tied for whatever reason Equip Load to viality and stamina stats, which everybody pumps anyway; so pretty much every build ends up being able to midroll in heaviest armor possible
>awful balance of parrying - theres no point in ever doing it since you take wither damage even upon successful parry, and also riposte damage is laughable; dodge + attack is always better than trying to parry
what's so bad about taking wither damage? it can't kill you.
>enemy encounters have shit design, just throw a crowd at people and let you deal with it lmao philosophy
>enemies are damage sponges
>strong random mobs are designed to two shot you for some reason
>bosses are pathetically easy
>balance is fricked
>but exploration is fun and enemy animations are very clear and readable
>just throw a crowd at people and let you deal with it lmao philosophy
What's wrong with this?
it's just 'press the roll button at the right time...again and again and again' tards getting filtered by open ended tactical gameplay. They haven't let getting their butt handed to them in DS2 down.
>press the roll button at the right time...again and again and again
What the frick are you talking about? LotF has super fast rolls with a huge amount of i-frames and cover a huge distance, it's the easiest soulslike to just spam roll.
The game's mobs are designed to create difficulty through swarming the player. Not by introducing complex movesets or requiring mechanical skill to conquer, they're just about "haha you're attacking me? My friends will hit you from behind HAHAHAHA"
>The game's mobs are designed to create difficulty through swarming the player.
>this is w-wrong because...well it just it is
tedious not hard, shill
you are a worthless moron
> can't into crowd control despite "mechanical skill"
sounds like a tactical error, movement, spacing, awareness issue on your part.
It's not a problem but you need variety. When every single time you find an enemy he's accompanied by three dogs and there's a sniper on a platform and a dude ready to ambush you behind some boxes just around the corner it gets tiring
the fact that they are the same enemies every time now makes it 'tactical' not repetitive lmao
that was a major part of their criticism of elden ring too wasn't it?
past needing to pretty much triple the current enemy variety i feel like everything is fixable with simple adjustments and optimization
and 2bh it's probably the most rapidly updated game I've ever seen. Like there's been a pretty fat patch daily since release, most likely due to the ease of UE's blueprint system
the standout issues are with weak bosses and build balancing that just destroy the core game. I one shot literally everything past the first 5-6 hours and pieta's sword was so busted i sold it to a merchant. They've already stated their intention on fixing mob density / leashing / damage so that doesn't need to be mentioned
i do want to acknowledge one really good thing it does; and that's input QoL
using LT as a modifier input to cast spells is game-changing QoL and it's mindblowing that From have made like 6 Souls games now where you're still scrolling through fricking spells
sprint on left-stick is also obviously the right way forward and negates the need to claw grip
hi
>homosexual invades while I'm helping some guy
>hits me for 400 damage with 2 swings
>hit him with my fire halberd that deals around 300 damage
>hits him for 51 damage
what the frick? this isn't the first time this happened. at first I thought it was a cheater, but that's like a 3rd guy who shrugs off my hits.
There's no level limit on invasions, so you can be invaded by a level 1000 player even if you're level 50.
whats a good build? started with dark crusader but its not fun at all
I keep fricking crashing after the patch. That the frick did they do?
Also the game thinks I have old drivers when they're not? Anybody else get that issue?
thats what you get for using amd on windows
what else would I be using it for? fricking linux?
yeah, amd runs perfectly on linux and sucks on windows.
The game's got problems but the "it's tedious not hard" line is the most monumental cope known to man. Get good or just accept you're shit.
I just finished it (well, one ending) today. I’d say the good is:
- level design is nice, with long tiring levels reminiscent of DeS or Das1 and less focus on SUPER HARD BOSSES. I would have leaned into this more actually, have longer runs to bosses and easier fights, or alternate between the two
- umbral stuff is enjoyable, i had a couple of good moments figuring out little extra bits of content by guessing i should use the lamp when it’s not indicated (going through certain gates for example)
the bad:
- i dislike that the art design is very DS3, lots of shit going on and too much ‘realism’, which makes areas that could look distinct end up looking samey. I prefered the super gamey levels of DS2 where you’re clearly in the FIRE LEVEL or the FOG LEVEL
- all weapon types having the same moveset means once you find the weapon type you like there’s basically no point trying out other weapons of that type
- spell distribution is just nonsense
- few memorable bosses, and i dislike that it’s mostly duels, i wish there were more gimmick or concept bosses. the only 2 i liked were The Hushed Saint (because of the crossbow gimmick) and the Hollow Crow (straight up gimmick fight). Everything else is a variation of dodge and hit. Honourable mention to Paladin’s Burden since you can stop his spellcasting with the crossbow which is fun. I disliked that I didn’t have to use the lamp at all for any fight.
