that makes no sense. to invert Kino we could go with Kiyes. has no ring to it though, I don't think this one has legs.
I like inputfeel, it's completely moronic but I guarantee you that loads of idiots would use it seriously thinking they're being clever.
there's nothing idiotic about it whatsoever. it's an important part of game design. pick the right buttons for the right actions, pick the right mode (toggle or hold, buttondown or buttonup), only use delays when necessary, maximize the frametime consistency etc. etc. so much goes into it and every game gets it wrong to some extent. every game's "input feel" could be improved. every last one's.
so we're psyoping our own board?
we do it once in a while to expose the newbies
So why haven't you left?
Being a newbie is letting Ganker posts get under your skin. Being an oldgay is messing with the head of newbies and laugh at how angry they get.
Dark Souls has bad inputfeel with roll acting on release instead of press
>inputfeel
Adaptive triggers and rumble fit this
The problem with the sloplike genre and why they're the prime example of ludon't is that they frick up the inputfeel on purpose just to make the games a forced challenge. No, inorganic controls and dishonest world building doesn't work and I don't care they do it on purpose just to evoke the feeling of artificial reality.

forced release could mean every early access game. clearly there's no game worth playing here, but we can release it right now if we pretend it's just "early access" to a game that will be improved significantly.
>Forced release
That would basically be games like FFXV and Cyberpunk, where they were obviously not ready to release, but were pushed by investors or by contract.
Not a shitpost but ultrarrealism.
When the game is so realistic that it makes you unable to tell what is real and what isn't, narrative-wise.
Example: in 999 the game tells you basic trivia about the Titanic. But along the narrative they also mention that the Titanic carried an Egyptian mummy. You know if this was true you'd have heard about it IRL, but it sounds so plausible that you end up wondering. At this point the game went into the uncanny valley of narrative, and you don't know what is real and what isn't.
World War 2 games are sometimes like that.
Like in Medal of Honor Airborne where in the last level, you para drop into a huge concrete tower with AA guns on top, and it's full of super tough SS guys wearing their pre-war black uniforms and gas masks while firing MG-42s off their hips.
Even though such an operation did not happen and one clearly cannot make themselves more resistant to bullets by wearing a gas mask and a dress uniform, the Germans did actually build huge flak towers in Berlin, Hamburg, and Vienna.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein also comes to mind. Like zombies and cyborg soldiers obviously didn't exist but what about the female elite guards? Saddam had them, so it's not totally unfeasible if you see the Nazis just as the baddies and you haven't read a book on the subject of women in the Third Reich.
Yes, there is also MGS3 which starts with basic Cold War facts, then slowly injects their own fictional events to the narrative.
But 999 is the only game I've seen that actually tries to frick your mind up with this narrative style. There is something eerie about the characters talking about Titanic while creepy music plays. It doesn't help that at this point of the game you feel like you're stuck in a replica of the Titanic. I wish there were more games like 999, because unlike most horror games/movies it actually feels like it's leaking to IRL.
mgs3 starts in a tropical jungle in siberia. it's completely detached from reality right from the beginning.
There is a gigantic cutscene at the beginning with real facts though. And while it quickly becomes apparent that the game is fictional, it's common to see people wondering how historically accurate MGS3 is in forum discussions.
I always appreciated that about Clannad. I thought for years that the Dango Daikazokou were an actually anime over there, but turns out they just have great designs and a catchy song.
Ass Creed 1 and 2 made me question if all that shit with the ayy lmaos and templars was actually real or not.
Historical fiction.....

I would understand as the game throwing lore at you while not having a narrative (or other kind of investment) strong enough to support it, ending up with you not caring.

So would that mean gameplay itself tells the narrative which feeds back to more gameplay? So like if a gameplay is based around you building houses from elements found in the world but only you do it, then narratively you must play as some sort of singular demigod capable of inhuman actions, and that could lean into building civilizations where you are worshipped as a demigod.

Can someone explain what ludo means? I need to catch up on the buzzwords.
lego for vidya
Ludo is meant to mean gameplay and comes from "ludus", which is latin for game.
When it is said in the word "Ludo-narrative" it means where the gameplay and the narrative meet, therefore, when there is Ludo-narrative dissonance, the meeting of gameplay and narrative are contradictory to some degree.

I never got the hate for this term (aside from it sounding a bit pretentious)

Hell, why not just call it gameplay narrative dissonance?
It's Ganker copying Ganker by making their own version of "kino". It's appropriate because games are nowadays a poor imitation of films.

What you're describing is a problem with a lot of fiction, not just fantasy. Stuff becomes so derivative it loses any kind of connection with reality and just feel totally plastic and fake.
For me a big one is modern war movies, they feel more inspired by war movies than actual war. So they don't feel like war movies, they feel like war movie movies, if that makes sense.

Cringeout ludobrain, common with streamers. Hear me out. When you say or do things that would be cringe in a normal conversation, but within the context of playing a game, it makes sense. You're lost in that cringeout moment, you're in ludobrain mode. When you scream at your teammates and say you will strangle them and rape their corpses, that's a classic case of cringeout ludobrain. xQc's whole career is a haze of cringeout ludobrain.

OP here
Yesterday when making the same thread i apologies for what i unleashed by making us invent the word forced soul
(It wasnt Twitter, it was a thread i made 2 days ago. We coin that term)
After meditating on my action and my personal wishes to increase board quality i had to make a decision.
I chose fun anon. And i will apologize for it once more.
That being said can we advance the meme meta further? We need a new Ganker meme to dunk on the normies
NormalBlack folk will steal the word as soon as it reaches every board.
Not if it's inherently edgy. I just got an idea. The next AAA slop comes out that is hyped by normies and we spread our new slogan

The word 'kys' is a good example of safe edgy. You're too afraid to type out have a nice day so instead you use a gay acronym.
Sometimes I'm lazy in my fit of online rage, and in my head the acronym comes across as more powerful dou to my inner monologue while writing. So its a fast and snappy "kys" instead of the longer slower Version
