I just remember this feeling like a singleplayer MMO.
Pretty much. Every sidequest was a fetch quest in a copypasted dungeon. Literally every single one
Was it not a mmo in early development? And they changed into this? Is it on the Switch? really want to play this again.
it was, and almost bankrupt an entire city, it was a shit show.
>and almost bankrupt an entire city
wtf.. How?
>wtf.. How?
City decided to invest in game development studio.
It was supposed to be a huge ass MMO but got stuck in development hell and they couldnt finish it so they just made it into a singleplayer RPG but it didn't sell very well (obviously).
Burgermutt city bankrolled the studio that made it expecting returns for the loan, game flopped, money gone, taxpayers fricked. Average day for a mutt
At least the cash didn't go to israel
>Famous american sportsball man creates a video game company
>asks a BILLION DOLLARS from Rhode Island
>promises a MMO
>hire a bunch of famous comic book artists and fantasy writers to design the world
>7 years later, release a single player MMO
>sells like shit
>city is angry
That is it I think.
You forgot how the city was actually involved, the mayor tried to fix the city's failing economy by investing into that studio and obviously got fricked cause they went bankrupt
Why would you ever give tax money to game devs? Is the mayor in jail right now for wasting tax money?
Every major software company in the world gets public grants from their government, video games included, for example, CDPR got money from the Polish government.
Yup, using government arts funds is quite common. ELEX 2 was already funded thanks to EU money when ELEX 1 released
Ubisoft is also getting the EU money for making games. They only have to get one European character. These motherfrickers are taking away the money intended for local indie devs,

literally why the frick would a city think an MMO should be where a billion fricking tax dollars should go? What the frick?
Oh found a rabbit hole.

no it was not. im so sick of this false information and myth. it was the prequel game to introduce audiences to the world that an mmo was going to take place in. the project alone was NOT "supposed to be an mmo, but they changed it later". it was always two separate projects. the mmo never got finished because this game bombed so hard.
But why does the game feels as a single player mmo on the 360? It is not a bad game at all. On my wish list on the Switch
because the studio was moronic and didnt know how make a good game? maybe they had the thought to make "the same places" so when they launch the mmo players feel like places are familiar, as well as "if we just reuse what we already made, we can save on dev cost/time", but ended up just making a lackluster product.
its very clear that the lore guys had immense vision, but the actual game dev guys had no idea what to do and were just scraping together what they thought they were supposed to make.
because morons like you think all that constitutes an mmo is fetch quests and open world
There was a pattern and you could hide in a spot. Now they are just throwing hammers because FRICK YOU.
It's a Fable-like. Fetch quests and killathons aren't unique to mmos
Well, Fable is garbage too, so no change there then.
that's exactly what it was. dogshit fetch quests abound, only morons who think slop like WoW was good like it
>so shit it bankrupts an entire amerimutt state
posting from RI,
frick that guy lol.
That being said, an hour of due diligence would tell you this shit was not going anywhere from the jump
In vino vertias.
It's been over a decade and I could still go on a huge rant about everything that's wrong with this dogshit game.
OK, we're waiting
>avoid playing MMOs like the plague that they are
>run into this cancer
There is no escape.
I don't even like this game but I was playing it around the time I had my first psychedelic experience and now I will remember and associate it with it forever lmao
gotta say the colors and environments were beautiful
Playing it now. It's like if WoW and Fable had a baby.
The combat is pretty cool. Soundtrack and environments are very nice.
I will only ever remember this game as the one that could have bankrupt Rhode Island.
>Underrated
It's properly rated as the catastrophic piece of shit it is
Yeah the game is trash.
At first the combat feels pretty good, until you find out you're killing the same mobs 90% of the time and you never need to change it up.
Bad game is bad
T.played at launch
any mmos with this combat?
Blade and Soul I think
Did the remaster thing make it stop being piss easy?
‘Sup?
i remember kingdoms of amalur being quite possibly THE MOST average game of all time. It was really astounding too, how they could really tow that line so seamlessly of just being... fine.
some old moron said he'd release world of warcraft 2 using the artist from spawn and the music guy from donkey kong (in like 2009 lol). must have been one hell of a pitch (lol).
The only thing I remember about it was that it was one of the blandest games I've ever played.
Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
damn, now I remember I never played the xpansion
did they fix the rerealease?
Yeah, it's awesome
More like sleep inducing games.
