I’ve been a collector for about 10 years on and off. I boxed everything up when I got married and had kids about 7 years ago. I just got back into collecting recently.
Today was the day it all just disappeared. I got a call from my wife around 2pm while I was at work. She said that my mom’s neighbors house was on fire. (She lives in a duplex) I was confused to which neighbor she was talking about. First thing that crossed my mind was if everyone got out safely. Which they did. Secondly was my video game collection that I had stored in my moms garage. I figured it would be safe in there, since it was in the backyard, I was dead wrong. I lost about 10k in games From 175 cib N64 games to sealed PS2 games. It all just melted together.
Luckily I had some stuff stored in another location that didn’t get toasted but majority of it did.
I guess I’m still in awe from the whole thing. I never thought something would ever happen to me like this but it did. It sucks but at the end of the day it’s just video games.
Just trying to clear my mind really and share my day.
I can’t believe the neighbors were so irresponsible. Who the hell leaves oil on the stove and then goes and runs errands? Makes no sense to me and this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. I’m trying to keep a good sprit through this but damn. I think what really pisses me off is they’re playing the ‘poor us’ route. Setting up a go fund me and crying about it. My mom lost her entire life pretty much and I lost my collection just because their stupidity.

This is why the Community should help the Cause and scan every box and manual in 600+ DPI. Accidents can happen. At least that way you can print a Repro Cover for a Plastic Box and read the Manuals on a iPad.
Remember you got those games for cheap. Material things can be replaced.
