Ive been doing game dev in Unity for 2 years now.

Should I switc to UE 5? Seems like a big hassle to learn a new language and I already tried it out but its a lot of boilerplate shit before y can program.
In Unity its easy
>new script
>variables
>Start Update OnDisable IEnumerators

Everything is easy with c#

Im building a 3D singleplayer RPG type game if that helps. Solo project.

Is it worth it to switch over? Or is it more geared towards big dev companies and I should stick with Unity?

Unity is wack as fck sometimes with the bugs and the shitty documentation between versions.
Not to mention some gamebreaking options are hidden away inside materials textures, or other miscelanious objects. Which often makes troubleshooting something thats very easy to fox a pain in the ass because iy takes hours to find that little checkbox or slider hidden away somewhere.

All thoughts welcome Ganker's.

Thanks

Its a solo project so sure. If you are able to understand how UE5 works then take the leap.

I'm working in a team using Unity, we've considered the same but it would require a change of some roles in the team

ue is trivially easy to get started in because of blueprints. once you're used to it and feel like it's a limiting factor, you can gradually add Unreal C++ (not to be confused with C++ - UE has so many macros it's almost its own thing) and go from there
you'll fricking despise Unreal though, just as someone who uses Unreal will despise learning Unity. they're VERY different paradigms
