I've been playing Starfield since it came out. I am enjoying exploring the vast mysteries of space still to this day. I firmly believe that once official mod support releases and given a year or two, the consensus on Starfield will drastically change. What are your thoughts on this, Ganker?

My thoughts are there first needs to be interest for modding to take off. Starfield is rotten at its core. Therefore, modders will not fix it.

That's an interesting perspective anon. I've seen a lot of ecelebs say the same thing. What would you say about the fact that modders are currently modding the game? There was a really big mod that just came out that added city building and colony management to the game. I'd say the fact that such a large mod is being released before official mod support is probably a good sign.

Modding took off months ago, problem is it's very limited right now because we still don't have the CK, not to mention the game is not properly set up to allow for plugin types that aren't masters yet. People so far have been using xEdit to get shit into the game, but everything is currently in a preliminary state.

the fricking CK isnt out yet...........? at this point i doubt they will ever release it

They have a legal obligation to do so along with the Shattered Space DLC, otherwise they might be facing a lawsuit if they don't refund everyone who bought the Premium Edition.

It'll come out probably at the same time they announce a PS5 version. At which point, suddenly consensus around Starfield will begin to be much more positive and favorable.

I really dont think Starfield is making a comeback...

I don't want it to make a "comeback" honestly. The community it has is actually bearable and pretty close nitt, which is rare to find anymore. So having it expand to "the masses" (i.e e-celeb followers and folks who actually site IGN as any means of real authority on game quality) and the shit they'd bring with them would only be a detriment in my view.

Andreja initially liked the Aceles because she thought they looked cute and serpentine

Imagine every single companion, even the dumb cowboy, admonishing you for not trusting the science and experimenting with microbes after a deadass pandemic in real life a few years prior

The whole 'trust the science' thing doesn't even make sense. The Aceles solution is more scientifically backed, and has already proven to be effective. The microbe is extremely reckless and irresponsible.

The game at least teaches you not to always roll with popular opinion, because sometimes a ton of people can be wrong about something. Take the OJ Simpson verdict for example, most people including black people now thinks it was the wrong verdict in the end

I don't think there will be any way to fix it with mods. It is fundamentally flawed.
I just don't see it getting the steam for a huge modding community like Skyrim that would allow for huge overhauls and modlists that would make the game even decent.
I've got 500 hours in it, I've done everything there is to do. Its a bad game at its core. The ONLY good thing is ship building and the fact that you can board some enemy ships. But even that is so fricking flawed due to typical bethesda laziness and incompetence.
game runs like shit and is fricking ugly to boot.

I imagine there will ultimately be an attempt to do a reclamation/"engoodening" arc for Starfield but the major issues of this game (blandness and space flight being boring) are probably too large to deal with without a long time to address them, especially when bethesda is looking to get tes 6 out. There'll be a modkit release and one or maybe two expansions before it gets maintenance support and I do not think there's enough of a fanbase to encourage a big modding scene outside of the usual asset swap stuff.

For that to happen, modders themselves need to be interested in the game, but they aren't.

I think the combat is pretty fun. It's not terribly complex, but I also enjoy traditional roguelikes so my opinion probably doesn't mean much there. It's like Fallout 4 but the guns aren't all shitty grandpa guns, so it's a step up to me. Melee is pretty shitty until you realize you just have to play it in 3rd person.

You play it in short bursts pretty much. Where Bethesda really fricked up with this game was that they locked 90% of it's content behind hundreds of hours of progression, you'd really need to have the patience of a saint to get into it or use console commands to level up faster.

Mod support has never saved a game or turned it's prospects around; mods have only ever improved what's already there.
A game that isn't liked without mods never gets liked with mods, because there isn't enough people playing the base game to be motivated to mod it.

The silence can either be explained by them trying to massively overhaul the game (considered the engine here is the real bottleneck and them outsourcing it to pajeet Black folk did not help) or they let it slowly rot until TES6 comes around
