I’ve never played WoW but I’ve always been interested.

Is private servers the way to go? Are they welcoming to noobs or do they expect everyone to know the game inside out? What are the best ones?

Live severs expect you to know what to do but private servers amplify it x50

      >but private servers amplify it x50
Sadly this. Tanking and Healing in random dungeons makes me nervous as is, but on a p-server it becomes even worse because everyone is a try hard

Private servers are best but WoW isn't a very good MMO gameplay wise.

Might as well try out Guild Wars 2, it's on steam today anyways

Literally the best available, still unbeaten to this day
GW2 is a dead game for redditors, which fit your reddit spacing.
      >MUH STEAM RELEASE
Literally the nail to the coffin, otherwise they wouldn't have released it after all these years, it's usually a sign that a mmo is dead

private servers are shit, literally the only reason why anyone played them is because it was the only way to play the game until Classic came out in 2019

I love how this shit server gets shilled hard in every WoW thread and still has less than 1000 online

The sole purpose of private servers is being """free"""

They had over 3k the last time I was on

EVERY SINGLE FRICKING THREAD you Black person shill your garbage classic server with god awful custom content

Not even a shill. I played actual vanilla in 2005 and tried turtle recently for the hardcore mode and it's actually decent.

        Classic is fricking dead.

The worst fricking server out there. Enjoy getting reported by everyone for banal shit and having abusive GMs permaban you as they cite the ADL (unironically)

Wrath of the lich king expansion coming out in like 4 weeks or so. Play this then quit the game. It's the only part worth playing.

pservers are SADLY the way to go, since retail is absolute garbage, and classic is beyond soulless, unironically. the economy is beyond fricked, random dungeons aren't really a thing thanks to said economy, and probably more.

      >playing retail

why shouldn't he try retail for free if he's never played wow before you dumb fricking moron?

because the early game experience is completely fricked in retail now

What exactly are you looking for out of WoW? The launch experience you've heard so much about literally cannot be emulated because that style of gamer is dead (and if they weren't, they would be playing in and exploring new games, not the same zones of the same one from 20 years ago). Everyone remaining is someone that enjoys an infinite grind, and you're expected to know what you're doing. That's agnostic to whether you're doing private servers, Classic, or retail.

You want to do raids and dungeons and shit? Look into it before you start playing. Everything classic-style is mind-numbingly simplistic. If you're willing to try retail, that can be fine, but they dumb the majority of the difficulties down to classic's level so it's equally braindead until you're geared enough for the real ones.
