The first time you spoke to the guy that gives you the launch codes, he seemed to have a lot to say about the Nomai, problem is I've forgotten all of it, including where he said I should be looking for them.

What I've been able to gather on my own is that the sun goes supernova and kills everything and everyone but aside from that I don't feel like I know what I'm doing

Explore each planet. Just pick one and go. Use the music box thingy to seek out "radio" codes. Look for those info things to read and try to read as many as possible. You'll know by your computer if there's "more to be found" on a given planet/area.

How about this: don't read you ship logs, take physical notes, and systematically explore each planet.

This game is about searching for points of interest to populate your ship log. Make sure you check out the exhibit.

Exhibit gives you an overview of planets
6ou have a moon to visit on timberhearth. You also have timberhearth itself to explore.
At the very least pick a path to see out to the end, like Quantum stuff of finding the other explorers

      where is the exhibit?

      Read your ship logs

fair point, I have numerous times seen that notification "ship log updated" but I haven't really read it

I forgot what Hornfels told me about the Nomai, I know he said to look for them on one place, but I forgot what place it was

anon, is this a bit? are you doing a bit right now?
this game might not be your speed

You might as well just watch a LP of the game because there is no way you are finishing it.

kek OP isn't even struggling with the puzzles he's struggling just getting to the puzzles. Just look around dude

The Exhibit is in the starting town where you went and first got blasted by the Nomai statue. Go read the plaques in there because it explains a bunch of pertinent stuff for other planets. Outside of that basically just run around and look for places to explore that look interesting

I found the beginning to be kind of a slog until I started getting enough bread crumbs in the shiplog that point out exactly where you should be going.

I know I said I'm dumb, but I'm 2 hours into the game, with the exception of the last anon you guys referred to the observatory area (an area I haven't been back to since I got the launch codes) as the "Exhibit" and then you call me an idiot for not going there and reading plaques learning about shit

I am no doubt an idiot but laughing at me for that seems a little excessive.
          >Outside of that basically just run around and look for places to explore that look interesting
Yeah been doing that quite a bit, just didn't pay attention to anything I'm finding being logged on the ship so far, so using that log might be easier to keep track of things.

This. I'll never understand the advice that's like "DURR JUST WANDER". Like if you follow basic verbal instructions you'll use your signalscope to track your buddies, find them, they'll tell you things, you'll investigate the things they tell you, and by an unbroken chain of events you'll find 90% of the game. I think The Interloper is the only thing not utterly entwined with the main rumor web.

Basically what the others said, look at ship logs.
The game only works, on your own desire to discover. Peak at the logs, see what you want to learn more of. See what it hints at and head there, and you be overwhelmed, and completely immersed. There is no bad spot to explore first. Go where your heart desires and start piecing things together.
Go ahead to the moon of Timer Hearth first, and then if you want some guidance, I'd say explore Giants Deep or Brittle Hollow after that. But you go where you wanna explore, those 2 just happened to be the first main areas I checked.
There is absolutely 0 way you would end up spoiling yourself, no matter where you go. You gotta really piece info together, and almost nothing will blatantly answer whats happening with any of the things you are learning about.
Oh also, don't do the dlc until the very end of the game. You'll know when you're about to hit the final stretch. The dlc gets some special scenes, based on how far you've gotten in the game.

The setup is so fricking simple:
    >First time going into space
    >Do whatever
    >Either die by yourself or sun kills you
    >Notice the TIME LOOP
That's all you should need. Every normal human being would want to figure out why there's a time loop. If you don't, you might be an NPC without curiosity or agency.

Yeah I got it recommended in a Rain World thread and picked it up, practically sealed myself away until I'd finished it
I accidentally read half of the top comment on a youtube video when I was listening to the soundtrack and I was annoyed at myself after lol

I was stupid at first and searched for him inside Timber Hearth because of that signal from that stupid seed being on the other side of the planet.

I thought he was underground too, ended up trawling those Nomai mines for some way down

I -wish- I could get into rain world but the controls feel kinda stiff for me and I bounce off the game

            Anonymous

For what it's worth, Rain World isn't all that hard on a mechanical level, I suck at platformers and didn't have much issue. You'll very rarely be struggling with tight jumps or intense platforming. It tests your patience and mental fortitude a lot more than any epic gamer skills.

That's not to say you CAN'T get good at the controls, people who are good at this game are on another level. But it's not necessary, avoiding fights is much easier than killing shit anyway.

I must now add this game to my wishlist. I know it's not the point and you're just a doofy little slugcat, but I hope the lore is fun.

            Anonymous

I think everyone bounces off the game once. But it's my favorite game of all time so give it a chance. The controls are weird on purpose, but they end up being very precise when you're comfortable with them.

I'm a moron, I figure asking for some light help might mean I don't give up on it and see it through. I'll keep a much closer eye on the ship log from now on and hopefully that will be enough.

just explore....do you need a floating arrow, a minimap, a quest log, a compass, and your character to talk themselves constantly in order to play games? Literally just explore. See something cool? Go check it out. One thing leads to another. Once you've visited every planet once or twice and you're not sure or you've forgotten things, then the logs on the ship will point you in the right direction.
