I've played Diablo II years ago, didn't finish it. Really liked it, great game. Which version would you recommend - the original, or the remaster? Did they do the game justice?
While I do appreciate retro visuals and aesthetics, I like having a pretty game in widescreen on my 1440p as well.
D2 Resurrected with a gamepad is excellent. The UI is so much better than M/KB it's not even funny.
I do intend to replay it, so maybe I'll go for an original run first.
Is it? I actually like MKB in diablo-like games because it's comfy and great for inventory management
Yes, it's truly the superior way to play imo.
Remaster is full of troony shit.
there's a repack actually, won't have to worry about either
when did they add the troon shit?
Any more troony shit, or is that it?
They made all attractive women look like men.
No woman that trains her entire life in martial arts in a demon and evil infested world is going to look pretty.
She is going to look like a man.
Just fax homie.
>muh realism
have a nice day moron
>Realism is a bad thing.
lol
it's fantasy frick your realism
Fantasy is based on reality moron.
The more realistic you can make it allows the user to become more immersed.

Something supposed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence brainlet.
ok troon
ok newfriend
cod seems like more up your alley you worthless subhuman
>Realism is a bad thing
It is. Because reality is fricking boring. Games are for escapism. If I wanted a realistic [anything] simulator I'd do it irl instead.
Amazon is 36DD according to some nerd who counted pixels and did math ~20 years ago, with the assumption that she's 6 feet tall.
You realize that the didn't just fricking invent Diablo right?
Not the game, the settings, the weapons, the classes, the spells, the loot drops, etc etc etc.
Everything in that game already existed to some degree, including the fantasy in it.
Blizzard didn't invent European and Christian folklore you dipshit, they pulled inspiration from extant lore, that, guess what, was based in reality and had existed for centuries in most cases.
Everything is based in reality, including fantasy.
>irrelevant nonsense meant to keep the (You)s flowing
That doesn't mean a game has to be a 1:1 match with reality. Bait better.
>Irrelevant Nonsense
>Noticing how all fantasy has roots in reality, the central point of the discussion
If you can't come up with any arguments then just don't post a reply dipshit.
Amazons are fiction. They are supposed to represent the apex of female physical capabilities. In lore they are stronger than most men but since they were only represented by artists in a romantic fashion, there is enough beauty associated with them to assume they were hot creatures. Looking like an old sag doesn't really capture that feeling at all. In this case, it should be less Sarah Connor and more Wonder Woman.
>Amazons are fiction.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazons
"The ancient Greeks never had any doubts that the Amazons were, or had been, real. Not the only people enchanted by warlike women of nomadic cultures, such exciting tales also come from ancient Egypt, Persia, India, and China. Greek heroes of old had encounters with the queens of their martial society and fought them. However, their original home was not exactly known, thought to be in the obscure lands beyond the civilized world.[23] "
Even if there was never a real Amazon tribe of some kind it was still extant mythology in the real world, that Blizzard didn't invent, and thus my point stands.
Fantasy is based in reality.
Ancient Greeks THOUGHT they were real.
There are no evidence of Amazons as descibed in the Greek mythos. All there is is a bunch of female warrior skeletons of Scythian origin that is thought to inspire the Amazon tales.
Amazons aren't fiction. There was a tribe of amazon women in Africa. When British troops come there, they tried to take them into to bed with them and by morning time they would find the British troops with their throats ripped out.
Amazons are a very specific type of female warriors in Greek legends. I never disputed the veracity of female warriors existing, because that's stupid.
Sucks hard considering she looks just fine in Heroes of the Storm, even if a little more old.
the remake allows you to toggle the original graphics at any time iirc so if you don't have qualms about giving actvision blizzard money then i would do that
The remaster is absolutely amazing, I recommend it. You can turn the old graphics back on on the fly with the press of a button. The new graphics really nailed the aesthetics, everything looks like how I remembered it was 20 years ago. With the button press I can check anytime how it actually looked like lmao.
>You can turn the old graphics back on on the fly with the press of a button.
And I do that every game.
yeah the remaster is incredible, plays the same but with the new graphics it just feels different, in a good way, pretty good, unless you're some moron that cares about some small word change like the other anon on this thread, then just go with that
okay but what class/build do I do as a beginner to ARPGs if I'm going 100% solo? I just want to deal damage and clear difficulties
just play whatever seems the coolest
>okay but what class/build do I do as a beginner to ARPGs if I'm going 100% solo? I just want to deal damage and clear difficulties
Druid for diablo 2 and max fissure
on your first playthrough if you're at all competent with games you can play whatever you think is the coolest. worst case scenario if you get melted by something just grind some more and come back later.
I played through the game with several classes, really just pick what looks cool. I felt maybe sorceress was the easiest, mostly because she gets easy access to teleport, but on Hell she will have more trouble with element immune monsters.
Necromancer is probably the best solo first playthrough character. Everthing except act end bosses vanish under summons. Everyone needs to TP cheese with bad gear so it's no different from others.
Then you can feed other characters stuff from the necromancer and skip some of the horseshit difficulty spikes for other classes.
Sorc teleport is the best spell in the game, static field ends bosses, and warmth+inferno makes normal pretty breezy.
Barb is probably the worst normal character. If you get shit luck with weapons, you're fricked.
Bow amazon is pretty good anon you will melt every shit.
Normal can be beaten with pretty much everything, with a varying degree of efficiency, unless you make some utterly moronic decisions when distributing your points
If you want to be able to clear the whole game without ever hitting a serious roadblock, but at the cost of unfun and janky gameplay, you can play a Hammerdin.
All of them. Except Paladin is a bit boring. There was an old flash animation that encapsulated the characters pretty well.
Druid and Assassin were added in the expansion, and they are both medium fun/difficulty.
Druid takes some time to become awesome and assassin is fast, but in my opinion traps are quite boring and martial arts are similar to Paladin. This is for a quick run from a beginner's perspective. Once you know what you're doing, all classes become OP and fun at some point.
>can't play Male Sorcerer or White Paladin
gay
It's the same game at a higher resolution with a few QoL improvements.
Being able to run over gold instead of clicking it, better keybind options, and UI improvements make D2R a better overall game.
It looks nice too, if you care about stuff like that.
What's a solo self found viable build that has some depth?
remaster is okay but they still did some dumb stuff with it
Why are you people so obsessed with trans people?
diablo II with path of diablo mod
All the problems of diablo 2 are solved.
Is blizzballer actually viable or did I get meme'd on?
I imagine it'll be something like pic related.
I'm playing 1.14d so no sunder charm.
pls update plugy ;_;
pls respond
I've been doing meteorb so far, but I'm struggling with shitgear.
Sadly it hasn't been updated to 2.4+, so no new runewords or sunder charms. That cleansing hat looks pretty nifty for a merc.
Easily the remake because of the mountain of bug fixes and balance improvements the game has received.
Haven't read the rest of the thread but the original + plugy is a pretty great experience imo. You have an infinite stash which allows a lot more fun stuff and collection. Holy Grail is a challenge that requires you to collect at least one of every unique in the game. Plugy is not too hard to install just look it up on youtube.
the remaster is genuinely good, they implemented a shit ton of quality of life features, new items to disrupt long standing metas without being overpowered, and fixed bugs that were 20+ years old. My only real gripe is the character models are mostly ass and Diablo's lightning in the remaster still looks lame
The original still has its own merits however, primarily mods like PD2 and work is being done to create an AI upscale remaster with widescreen support
Remastered is almost a perfect example of how games should be remade and it can be bought for like $15 on sale
>diablo 2 and starcraft have perfect remasters
>warcraft III on the other hand....
>and you can never play warcraft 3 without the shitty remaster now
It triggers me more than anything else
No, a remade game should be remade. Not remastered.
Are people here moronic on purpose?
What’s a good class to start?
You should make a ligma specced barbarian.
summon necro
flame aura paladin
fire sorceress
fire druid
trap assassin
multishot bow amazon or poison / lightning javelin amazon
>what about barbarian
needs to be fed gear you collect on other classes to be efficient, unless you want the extra challenge
I got a javazon and holy frick she can like nuke bosses on hell with like 5 hits
Bosses aren't really the hard part of the game (excluding Ubers, which the Javazon is useless against), and any character without Teleport is going to be worse at farming bosses than a Sorceress by default.
barbarian tele with find item
If you can stand the Black person paladin, play the remastered
I won't play paladin, so I'm fine
it's necromancer time!
So I'm playing D2 for the first time after putting in tons of hours in D3, don't care what names you call me. Anyway, why do I have to run back to camp every 30 secs to sell 8 items? Did I miss an option to quick sell everything? This shit pulls me out of the game after only 5-10mins of playing.
>Anyway, why do I have to run back to camp every 30 secs to sell 8 items?
You don't, lol. Just sell bad yellows, israeliteelry, and charms. Picking up every blue you can just to sell it is a waste of time because the game doesn't exactly skimp on money if you're not gambling 24/7 and you SHOULD be getting free identifies from Cain if you're not a moron who left him in Tristram.
Keep blue israeliteels / small charms / large skiller charms / gems/skulls / unquies / normal non-magical sockets
prioritize items that actually sell well instead of just picking up every piece of crap
early game: thrown weapons, throwing potions
in general: items that can roll +skills naturally (wands, staves, scepters, shrunken heads, druid helms, barbarian helms)
later game: items that roll exceptional or elite like gladius instead of short sword
items that are ethereal sell for far less regardless of what rolls on them
tha's awful dude, let the guy enjoy the game as it is
optimal strategies come later, if he even wants to do following playthroughs
Thanks, but I do appreciate their advice. I want to like the game, but the constant back & forth was killing my buzz. I keep going back to D3 out of frustration.
You don't really need much gold in the game, only to buy potions/scrolls and repair items. Item drops are far better.
if you actually want to maintain your mercenary you're going to need hundreds of thousands of gold until you get them decent gear
The maximum sell value for anything is capped at 35K and gold is only used for reparing, ressing merc and gambling.
The only vendor trash worth picking up is 2-4 slot things with +skills. Optionally armor pieces with ~300+ armor since those also hit the vendor cap.
Buy a fricking Tome of Town Portal instead of running back.
Does anyone actually play Assassin? She's such a weird class I can never wrap my head around her.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahomey_Amazons
Never argue with coomers. They will never understand that not everything is made for their dick, and that not everything that goes against idiotic DoA-like character design is troonyshit. The irony here is that the vast majority of the trannies you despise and call out are just like you. Lonely men who are unhappy with the world.
Buncha a fricking homosexuals.
original can run on a toaster and has better contrast.
D2R is was an actually competent restoration job
It's hard to believe but its not anything like what they did to Reforged
I always play Barbarian/Warrior in these games. Was disappointed the class seems weaker than I recall.
Most other classes get damage from their skills (Sorc spells, Necro summons, etc) whereas your Barbarian will augment his weapon damage through his skills, so, if your weapon isn't great, neither is your damage.
