You're exaggerating, but I have no idea how much they have. That said, if Starfield came out the way it did with a team like Bethesda, Star Citizen looking like it does with the team it has is still impressive, right?

It's just a money laundering scheme. This company is used to launder drug or illegal betting money. Chris buys $100k ships with dirty money and then it suddenly becomes clean. Probably works with some gangs from California to launder their money through this "game".

The excuse of "oh, it takes a lot of time to make a space exploration game" is a joke, especially after everyone saw how Starfield managed to come out with a fraction of the cost and dev time.

But people don't like the way exploration is done in Starfield. In Star Citizen, you don't have the loading screens and you don't have the immersion breaking issue as a result.

I don't have a problem with it. Then again, I can handle 3 second or less load screens.

The joke used to be that the game wouldn't be released until 2020, and the backers were outraged by this joke, because they considered it to be trolls acting in bad faith.
It's almost 2024 and the most optimistic think the game will be ready in 2027, but the realists are thinking 2030...
And the devs are still asking for money...

They aren't Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Bethesda, Rockstar or any of these other big named studios. They are a small team and things happen in development.

my gosh that's the biggest fricking asslicking post i've ever read on here. they got almost a billion dollars and 20 years to work on it so far you stupid dumb moronic Black person, there's no excuses

It's the reality that developing what's essentially never been done before with methods of memory allocation never done before may take more time. Also, inflating dev time to be "20 years" isn't going to make your point any better. Regardless, this is still a small team who are sticking to their design blueprint, providing timely updates, and based on what we've seen recently, are putting the money to good use.

Yea but it's alright cause the last episode is fricking hilarious.

Strong recommend on this series for any bored Gankerirgins. Even if you don't care about star citizen at all (a perfectly sane stance) it's really entertaining.

Ever since crowdfunding became popular and all those scams happened, people are wary of any "Giant 1:1 scale replica game, do whatever be whatever, etc etc" type projects.

Scam or not, the fact that a game has taken 10 years to develop, and has a budget eclipsing stuff like Call of Duty, and naturally people are going to raise eyebrows. No one's hard fault yet; people want to be sure the money isn't going to anything else.

Also that pic of the CEO on the yacht didn't do any favors. Don't take it too harshly, it's only natural for people to be cautious, that's smart.

Only fools and idiots go all in thinking something will come out perfectly. That's how that Mega Man knockoff shit happened.

Ganker would defend star citizen if it had playable furries. I'm surprised a game like this doesn't milk furgays.

Or if the ceo sucked off Trump at one point. Then criticizing it would be "liberal".

I personally hope it succeeds myself, it would be really cool if even half of what the promised was realized.
I say this because I grew up playing the escape velocity series and having real control over a character doing things with my own space ship sounds amazing.

they keep taking money and are maybe 10% of the way to their promised product
only time will tell if it's truly a scam but it's quite a load of suck at a minimum

Is my original israelitestarter pledge still good? I think I did the $40 cheap c**t buy in. Is there any israeliteery afoot or am I still guaranteed a copy if this ever releases?

Because it's going to take 30 years to add everything they've already promised, based on their current rate of development. Instead of shutting up and realizing their backlog, they have consistently announced more content that will require more development time. There is such a drastic backlog, and the project is so poorly managed, that this is the only way to continue to pay for development. A significant amount of the development goes to getting marketing events up and running, to the point that actual game mechanics get passed up so the next shitty ship can be advertised.

Scam Citizen will always be the shining example of why you should never trust a preorder or kickstarter that gets blinded by feature creep. I'd much sooner trust a project that admits it won't add anything meaningful for stretch goals.
