Is there any evidence? It sure would explain how hideous the character models are. On the other hand, it's about the class war, not about racial issues, so it might not be Sweet Baby.

In western politics class is always second and nearly non-existent to race. The only relevancy of class warfare in the modern political climate is complaining about billionaires. Race politics are all-encompassing for the average American.

IIRC that particular place connects to several truck routes so a lot of truckers stop at that point to spend the night.

                [...]
There is literally zero reason for that place to be anything but utilitarian.

                >Why is this utilitarian place with a specific function not designed in the style of the Italian renaissance??

With proper rail infrastructure there wouldn't be a need for this place in the first place.

Jokes on you but China has more developed railroads than USA does for example, EUROPE on the other hand wins in logistics and you can most likely just hop on a train and travel through Europe as a whole and use local taxi services or uber to travel to the more smaller places outside of train stations reach.

This is mainly because of compact nature of Europe vs the gigantic wasteland of China where they have to watch where they expand according to needs rather than organic development of people moving there already before building new buildings.

so it is part of some actual town or they decided to make bunch of gas stations and fast foods in one spot in the middle of woods?

This might be "just a truckstop" but you are forced to drive through two of those red lights if youre driving on I-70. State fricked up some bond agreements and ended up bridging two parts of the interstate with a couple feet of state road. For a long time they've been trying to fix this by connecting the two halves where it shouldve been connected to begin with a bit south of that photo but the city keeps vetoing it because of course they would.

              Anonymous

The city vetoes it because it's where the vast majority of the people who live there are employed and it brings in out of state bucks. If they connected the highway proper then it would turn into just another dying rustbelt town, why the frick would the people who live there want that?

no, because if you zoom out even farther it's all rectangular crop fields. you can already see some on the left and in the foreground. working those fields is the primary reason there are even families out there with junior working at the burger king and the missus doing maid work at the inn. indeed the businesses there are likely also owned by the same gigacorp that owns the farms. they pay you $7.50/hour and then charge you $15 for lunch.

I think the intention is to keep the "tourist" part separate from where the locals live. Why would you want a bunch of truck drivers going past your house everyday when you could live in a quiet part of the woods instead? And on the other hand, if you're a truck driver why would you want to deal with a bunch of residential areas when all you really want is to get a meal and get back on the road? Keeping things separate works for both parties.

euros exist in a state of eternal seethe about americans
what most people don't understand is that the biggest difference between the US and EU is that in the US our overblown bureaucracy exists simply to enrich itself and frick up more than it helps. Most of the time it can leave you alone.
In the EU, their overwrought bureaucracy exists to micromanage every aspect of your lives with a fine-tooth comb in a manner that makes an HOA Karen look like an anarcho-libertarian by comparison.

90% of the time you see industrial areas far outside the town because the town itself told the businesses to frick off because they wanted to keep their, "small town vibe."

So the businesses just go outside the city limits and build on state property and such the life out of the town since they'll pay better than the mom and pop stores, will be cheaper, and have better stock.

The other 10% is the town was just to far away from the interstate and the businesses opted to build around the truck stop there since everyone has to drive through anyways.

It's a roadstop town. Essentially a place in the middle of nowhere to get gas, food, and bathrooms for those on long drives or road trips. Their entire economy is fueled by travelers. I'm not sure if Europe has an equivalent, but it's a very common thing across the USA.

IIRC that particular place connects to several truck routes so a lot of truckers stop at that point to spend the night.

It's a town that sprang up because of the highway. The closest town to me is one of these that grew once the I-95 was built in order to cash in on all the people going somewhere. Once you get a 3-4 miles out of town it's all farmland. Truck stops are much smaller.

We have several of these in Tennessee because it takes 8 fricking hours to drive from one end of the state to the other lengthwise. Is just some place for people passing through to stop, shit, eat, and maybe sleep if they're desperate enough to take their chances in an Econolodge instead of driving an extra hour to get to an actual city.

It isn't...? All modern nations are below replacement level, and Japan has a higher birthrate than some other western countries such as Germany. People rag on Japs because they have an alien culture, so they grow up assuming it must be a cultural problem without knowing that their own country has a similar problem that they offset with very high immigration. Given the cultural catastrophe that western countries are experiencing right now, I'd say Japan's a bit better off.

It's very rarely the first wave migrants that are the problem. If anything, they're the ones that want the doors closed after they managed to get in, because they know what they left, and will fight so the doors stay closed. Unironically the most hardass right wingers I know are first gen migrants.

where are you finding cheaper prices cause its still about 1000 for a return where I looked unless you get on some chinese airline with 15 stops

...I may have been looking at the Chinese ones. It can't be that bad... can it?
The ones I did come across have just 1 stop and the wait time isn't the worst so I suppose it boils down to this airline. I guess I'll check the reviews and find out if it's worth biting the bullet.

Go for it, I went there for the first time last year and I really enjoyed it

as far as I know they arent horrible but they arent good either. you either get lucky and have a good experience or you get what you pay for, so expect shitty food and dismissive service and no in flight entertainment and if something goes wrong judging from reviews online your fricked because they just wont speak english and will refuse to help you, if you get it super cheap and your willing to just put up with it and pass out on the flight its might be worth it to just tough it out

I've gone to Japan twice with budget airlines (I'm from UK btw), and my first time going was probably the most entertaining pair of flights I've ever had

          >2017, Aeroflot
          >flight is delayed getting to the runway. something about the plane not being ready. whatever, the flight goes okay and we touch down in Russia a few hours later, but we're delayed
          >given bottles of water as we get off the plane, need to go through customs to make our connecting flight
          >blond heifer of a woman is checking our bags as we go through, can't speak any English apart from "WATER! NO!" and then chucking the unopened water bottles we were just given into a bin behind her
          >make it into departure lounge and find out our flight leaves in 10 minutes and is on the other side of the airport, so have to sprint to make it
          >make the plane, fly Russia to Japan, annoying Russian kid in front of me but not a big deal
          >land in Japan, go to pick up our luggage, there's nothing there. we're not the only ones, a good ten other families are waiting. turns out they "forgot to put the bags on the plane" in the rush.
          >chat to one of the other passengers, turns out this is a very common thing for this specific flight. they just leave your bags in Russia and then get them brought over on the next flight and then deliver them to your hotel
          >get given some money to go buy some essentials to cover the next couple of days (clothes, toiletries)
          >bags arrive the next evening with a very cute note from our reception

            Anonymous

            >coming back is much easier, plus we're kinda expecting our bags to go missing so the worry isn't an issue
            >watching the flight plan on the screen, notice we've gone off-course and are heading into Siberia
            >seems a bit weird but don't tell GF because she worries a lot
            >no communication from the wienerpit, we just start circling and before long land on a runway in the middle of a clearing
            >lots of chatter in the cabin but cabin crew tell us to keep calm
            >see a little people-carrier trundle along the runway, with a red cross painted on the side
            >after a few minutes a gangly man wearing a face mask and ushanka starts walking up and down the aisle, holding what looks like a toy gun at us, realise it's a temperature gun and he's taking the readings of all the passengers
            >doesn't say a word to us as he passes by, then gets off the plane and we take off again
            >apparently one of the passengers in the front of the plane was violently ill so there had to be an emergency landing and they scanned us as a precaution
            >this wasn't told to us by cabin crew or the wienerpit btw, literally just rumours floating around economy class
            >make it to Moscow, long connection time so no rush for the next flight, spend some time eating in Burger King and then head home
            >luggage even makes it back with us

              >2018, Air China
              >London to Beijing, lightwork
              >arrive in China quite early, have a 4 hour wait for the next flight so explore the airport/duty free before slouching on one of the benches, realising I have roaming data and watching some YouTube
              >just kidding! YouTube's blocked
              >oh shit, Google's blocked right? haha
              >okay let me just check which gate we're leaving from in my email...
              >oh shit, I use gmail
              >saved a screenshot beforehand so no issues, get the flight from Beijing to Haneda
              >the most turbulent flight I've ever been on in my life
              >girlfriend (a different one this time) is crying thinking we're going to die

              >some kid starts screaming and crying
              >my friend is dead asleep

that's about as exciting as it gets for my Air China trip. I think it was a much less stressful experience than the Aeroflot one, the food's decent with both but I'm not particularly fussy either way. AC did offer free beers though which was quite nice.

                Anonymous

the friendly deer was pretty much the main draw, but it was a really nice place to walk around in and explore. there are a lot of old monuments, like a five-story pagoda at Kofuku-ji, and the Buddha at Tokai-ji. lots of street food too, but the deer definitely steal the spotlight.
I budgeted a bit too well so had some leftover cash in my allotment on our last day in the region, so ended up buying a Godzilla sukajan, which was fantastic.

we stayed in Nara mainly because it was cheaper than staying in Osaka and Kyoto while being like 30 minutes away from them via train. I'd recommend getting the JR pass, which gives you unlimited free transport on JR lines, including certain shinkansen, for something like $300. it saved us a fortune and made getting around so easy.

In the image, you see a laptop open on a webpage, next to which there are two boxes of medication. One medication is called Zumenon, which contains estradiol, commonly used as part of hormone replacement therapy, perhaps for menopause symptoms or hormone therapy in transgender women. The other medication is Spiractin, which is a brand name for spironolactone, often used to treat fluid build-up due to heart failure, liver scarring, or kidney disease. It can also be used for the treatment of high blood pressure, potassium deficiency, and hyperaldosteronism. Additionally, spironolactone has anti-androgen effects and may be used in transgender women's hormone therapy, for treating hair loss and acne, or for reducing male-pattern hair growth in women.

The laptop is displaying what seems to be a coding environment or a software tool with some text and dialogue boxes, suggesting that someone may be working or studying.

On the couch, there is also a disposable adult diaper with a cartoon raccoon print on it. This type of product is typically used by individuals who have incontinence issues, which can be due to various medical conditions, age, or physical disability.

The combination of these items in one setting does not clearly convey a singular activity or situation; it could be that someone has placed these items together temporarily, or they could be indicative of someone managing health conditions while working or studying.

GIGO literally just opened a new arcade in downtown Sapporo, right in the new shopping mall. Haven't been there yet because I like the tiny arcade instead, but that literally makes 1 small arcade and 2 big ones in a super small area, all competing with one another. They are all pretty full at all times. And I'm only talking about arcades that carry a bunch of games that I like, there are even more smaller shittier ones.

This is what happened because home console ports are basically equivalent to arcade experience with no downsides.

They should start releasing their arcade shits as $35-50 collections to steam/nintendo switch if possible.

Tokyo is the most populated city in the world.
Besides that, their towns and other cities are designed to be walkable and their public transit is better than ours.

There's no detriment to this type of design compared to suburbs which just waste water and power.

          https://apartments.gaijinpot.com/en/rent/view/1084567

I'm sure they have similar issues to us wherein large companies buy up housing to inflate prices. Not to mention, it's cheaper to live somewhere rural, but you're saving to be alone. In a city, you're spending a premium, but likely making proportionately higher income than a commonwealth rural community. Plus there's just more to do and more reasons to go outside.

As a spoiled, fat american, I just couldnt live in a tiny studio apartment with two small burners and no oven. Its bordeline inhumane, but thats just how they are over there - they really don't feel the need to have that much space. If i ever lived there I would need a house out in the burbs, i'm already really fricking tired of the city as it is

the one i posted is an extreme example of an odd apartment, but lots of people pay premiums to live in tiny shitholes in the city, just like they every other major city on earth at this point. As the other anon said, its "worth it" because of proximity to work and access to fun

While the Japanese do not hate gaijins, it is true that the Japanese tend to not open their minds to gaijins, especially those who do not speak Japanese well.

However, this is due to the fact that the Japanese are extremely shy people to begin with, and because they have developed an extremely contextual grammar of communication (you may have heard of "high context culture"), therefore they tend to consider people who do not share their grammar of communication to be "outsiders".

In other words, in fact, for most Japanese, race and skin color are not an issue. It is more important to be able to speak Japanese at a native level and understand the (often non-explicit) grammar of communication that Japanese take for granted, and most immigrants, especially those from English-speaking countries, lack these skills due to the language barrier or the lack of willingness to learn the culture and language.

So they make no Japanese friends at all, and live their entire lives in a bubble with only their married Japanese wives, or fellow gaijin migrants, and develop only a growing hatred of Japanese society and the Japanese people.

Because their experiences are presented in a distorted form, mainly to the English-speaking world via social media, the "Japanese are xenophobic" meme circulates as if it were true (just as the Japanese birth rate is falsely understood to be low, even though it is high in East Asia, comparable to Italy).

There is also the partisan behavior of the left that justifies anything bad said about Japan or the Japanese is justified because the right deifies Japan. (and Japanese are "colonizers").

            Anonymous

Sega simply made the wrong decision.

Indeed, under the Covid, the companies operating the arcade business in Japan - Konami, Square Enix (Taito), Namco, and Sega - were all running large deficits, but of them, only Sega literally gave up on the arcade business and sold it off.

Perhaps Sega used Covid as an opportunity to liquidate its overstaffed, low-margin arcade division, but the other companies correctly anticipated that once the pandemic was done, inbound consumption would once again revive profits.

    And they were right.

Now all the arcade divisions of Square Enix, Konami, and Bandai Namco are once again becoming to produce sveral billions yen profits.

See how sega the one that went ESG is the one that decided to sell it off? Wouldn't surprise me they took "advice" from california lmao

When I first heard the news, my reaction was simply that it was a foolish decision.

Because Sega is a company that literally originated in the arcades, and for foreigners, the Sega brand is inextricably linked to the arcade culture.

Certainly in recent years the arcade business has become more and more dependent on the profits from crane games, but considering inbound tourist spending now taking a larger and larger part of the profits, it was foolish to abandon the brand itself.

the only reason more people havent expatriated to the point of collapsing the country at this point is that getting a passport is linked to debt and you have to pay income tax as long as youre a citizen regardless of where you live. I just think it's a bad idea for sega to spend so much money on making super games with the implications that it will be AAA quality.

My wife and I are both white and went to Japan for our honeymoon and it was the best trip we’ve ever taken, she wants to go back for an anniversary. The only people who hate on it are probably gays too broke or scared to leave their home country. It was the easiest to get around country I’ve ever been to, super clean, super safe, and there’s something to do every 5 feet. Weebs are weird turbo queers and probably trannies in disguise but Japan is still incredible to visit and you’re doing yourself a disservice by not going because you’ve rubber banded so far back into being a crybaby westaboo homosexual. The US is a browned out shithole now and it’s striking how well a homogenous society can function when you see it in person. Japan isn’t a lesson in wanting to be Japanese, it’s a lesson in wanting to keep shitskins out if that’s still an option for your country, it isn’t for mine.

is this the thread where ameripoors defend their 3rd world-tier infrastructure?

American infrastructure ranks around the top 10. The only other countries above us are Euroshart countries that got bombed to ruble a generations ago. Sadly, we don't have the privileged of getting bombed to dust like most Europeans. It's harder to improve things gradually than to start from scratch.

But that really doesn't explain why all the other europoors fell so behind so quickly. If you're below us then that's just embarrassing.

There are a fair number of blacks in Japan, if you go over to popular areas they roam around the streets trying to cajole you to go to various strip clubs. You have a pretty good chance of seeing some in bottom pic hanging around with pamphlets following you around nonstop until you tell them to frick off.

Where are the good arcades in Tokyo that aren't just UFO catcher buildings? I went to one that had a ton of fighting games and an idolmaster cabinet tucked away in the corner but couldn't find it again next time I went.

Learn basic phrases and you'll do fine. Learn how to ask where the bathroom is, how to say "this" the word "and" and "excuse me" and "thank you" and you'll get by well enough.

Ideally, how much would I need to save up for a trip? Like $1000?

The flight is like 1.2 to 1.5k alone and for a 3 week trip, like 4-5k (including tickets) would be a good guesstimate. I went in winter of 2022 and the yen was pretty weak then but I think it's even weaker now.

If you go to a big city like Tokyo or Osaka then it's easy.

Ideally, how much would I need to save up for a trip? Like $1000?

Probably wouldn't even cover the flight.
