I actually liked having a ranger in the party in act 3, having a (well, two to four) spammable AOE attack that doesn't hit allies is nice with all the fricking trash they throw at you in encounters.
I've been told the character interactions are in the script but shit gets fricked if you don't do enough long rests or something, not sure if it's pure bullshit though or not.
Still, yeah, after act 1 they were basically fricking silent
On the scale of companions in RPGs, BG3 rates fairly low, but it makes up for it by letting you push them into comical situations, much like what would happen in a real tabletop game.
People will shit on these companions as boring but can't name 3 different video games with better companion arcs with the ability for deviation and customization.
Astarion, shadowheart, lae'zel and minthara are legit that's already more than a full party. I killed the rape wizard, the manly redditor chick and the nignog.
I can't play 3 since my PC can't run anyway. I could get the other 2 previous ones for like $5 though.
Are the companions in those any good? Specifically the gay romanceable ones
Is anyone else having an issue where your bonuses are disappearing from your stat checks? I try to apply bardic inspiration and guidance to my lockpicker (or whatever else, it could be any bonus or advantage) and they just disappear when I click the dice and the roll animation plays. They don't get added at the end either, so it's not like I'm double clicking or something and skipping the animation. It just adds my base stat modifiers and skips the optional ones. This only started happening recently and idk if it's a bug or if I'm doing something that I don't notice but it's pissing me off right now
but that hasn't happened for me up until now
is there a way to stop that from happening? the bonuses worked fine through act 1 and 2, is it just another act 3 bug? or did i frick up something in the settings about resetting combat state without knowing
I played for an hour and found the game fricking boring. Why are people praising it?
because it's fun if you like CRPGs and the choices you make actually matter and affect the world up until the 3rd act
i don't think so, this has been happening for days now and the only permeant debuff I have is from the hag's eye and thats on a different character and only debuffs perception
probably a save file corruption bug, people were reporting a lot of those
The game bugs out in weird ways sometimes, saving and reloading seems to help. I've noticed this happening with potions where it would suddenly display that I cannot craft ANYTHING, sometimes I would just not be able to sort my inventory because nothing fricking happens, that sort of thing. Maybe it's similar for you.
>lae'zal >Black person >competent >capable >not a coward >physically appealing >soft when dominated >Black person
No. And the other options are a used up prostitute looking to settle, a former Bhaalspawn cumrag/ancient single mommy that hit the wall with Improved Haste and a prostitute with STDs.
this game doesnt have the charm of DoS2 at all
what a boring first arc holy frick
there's a reason an enclosed space aka an island you have to escape from works so well, its interesting, condensed, and interactive without having 10 different things all going on at once
The people who wrote the game are hacks. They just outright ignored the historical style of writing that ALL the interactions with NPCs in BG 1&2 have, as well as the books. BG 1&2 read as though the people and books in those games are from the middle ages or antiquity, but everything in BG3 was clearly written by people born in the 1980s and it reads exactly like millennials talk. Not even the slightest attempt at immersing the player or imitating the earlier games was made and it reeks of both incompetence and contempt for earlier, better game devs. It is a disgrace, an even bigger desecration of the original games than Beamdog's acts of vandalism.
There is one point in the game where it's pretty obvious that killing that particular character is a bad idea as everyone just fricking dies immediately, just don't do that.
If you're using warlocks or sorcerers you need to be careful at the end of act 1. Before the obvious end point happens at the camp go to the grove and knock Alfira the bard out with nonlethal damage
You might lose out on two companions like an hour or two before the game ends depending on the order you do things in but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things if you don't use those particualr ones
Yeah, it's kinda disappointing. Thematically I liked it even though it broke a lot of shit by wanting to be evil and it would have made a good main path for the game. It's just that being evil is kinda shit in the game plus the rewards are really more for looking cool than actually being particularly good.
the elf girl makes my peni hard
You really couldn't say that in the 30 active threads about this game here and in /vg/, you're just too special not to be getting all the attention
Yeah I don't get how they managed to frick up the companions this bad after DOS2. Larzel is the only bearable one.
at least the frog girl is memorable
i thought Halsin was the BEARable one
Nice
Yeah… best CRPG ever amirite haha
coop it's fun yeah
Wait until you see the gameplay in act 3
I legit wanted to kill myself
Lae'zel is pretty cool. There's just not enough content and what content there is, is poorly paced.
The only thing I know about her is that you can apparently frick her literally in under 5 minutes after starting the game.
My question is y tho?
shes an autistic tomboy girl in puberty from a violent militaristic society, the thirst is expected
BG3 is so slow that you will still be in the first battle of the game 5mins into the game
Current "world record" is literally under 3 minutes.
The tier list is frog shadowheart wyll vampire gale karlach. If a companion wasn’t mentioned here it’s because they’re irrelevant
>Jaheira
>Minsc
>Irrelevant
I didn’t play the original games so they’re just annoying
I haven't played the original as well but putting frog face before Jaheira and Shadowheart just suggests bad taste.
Minsc had like 10 lines in the entire game and no quest associated with him after you find him, yeah, he's kinda irrelevant
Minsc has lots of lines in act 3, if you rescue him early you will have the game becomes kino as frick.
but he's a ranger tho
you could afford a slot for a trash companion in the older games
I actually liked having a ranger in the party in act 3, having a (well, two to four) spammable AOE attack that doesn't hit allies is nice with all the fricking trash they throw at you in encounters.
This is factually wrong. They have a lot of fun interactions with Saverok and Viconia.
Minsc has 6h of lines
Entire dialogue on yt. I don't recommend, as the va is white trash playing russian and quality of writing is bad.
minsc is reddit incarnate before reddit was a thing
jaheira was bland in the original games as well, who cares about the harpers
>wyll
>gale
>shart
>relevant
best companions are Minsc>Astarion>Shadowheart.
The other either are boring or have little going on and could have their companion quests expanded.
Weren’t you supposed to be able to recruit minsc in act 1 but it was cut?
>the longer the game goes on the less the companions interact with each other
How did a 10+ year old game manage to get this right?
I've been told the character interactions are in the script but shit gets fricked if you don't do enough long rests or something, not sure if it's pure bullshit though or not.
Still, yeah, after act 1 they were basically fricking silent
No, in act 3 they do not have dialogue. Has nothing to do with resting.
That dog looks horrifically ugly
Dog breeding, not even once.
>Old Dog Good
>New Dog Bad
>New Dog Bad
When the new dog can barely even breath, or have sex without breaking it's hip in the process, yeah.
The old Boxer look was much more aesthetically pleasing too
There's a new genetic defect in the post-hipdysplasia german shephard line that makes 1/20 of them midgets. They're fricking adorable.
but anon SEX
cmon bro sex
its like sexually sex
only companion worth keeping then is the drow
still miles better than the outer worlds companions
that's a real high bar anon
Anything's better than an asexual lesbian pajeet. OW is a joke.
>based priest
>do his quest
>becomes cringe Reddit

>with better companion arcs
What arc does Halsin have other than giving you bear dick?
He singlehandedly ruined Shadowheart. I'll give him that I guess.
questioning his leadership of the druid grove, didnt pay much attention, used him in tough fights because owlbear and dinosaur forms are op
Post HQ screenshots of Lae'zel I beg you
>he submitted
Vlaakith did nothing wrong her people have worked with devils almost their entire existence
Astarion, shadowheart, lae'zel and minthara are legit that's already more than a full party. I killed the rape wizard, the manly redditor chick and the nignog.
do romantic partners get jealous if you frick other people?
Depends. I think Gale, Karlach, Wyll and Lae'zel will get jealous. The others won't care, except Shadowheart will care if your banging Lae'zel.
You'll have to choose unless you're romancing Halsin and Astarion/Shadowheart.
Is there any way to make Slayer Form Not shit?
It goes obsolete pretty quick.
I can't play 3 since my PC can't run anyway. I could get the other 2 previous ones for like $5 though.
Are the companions in those any good? Specifically the gay romanceable ones
Bg1 doesn't have romanceable companions, the ones in bg2 weren't my type
Just make sure you get edwin in the 1st and 2nd game and korgan in the 2nd
all the girls are ugly
all the guys are twinky/homosexual
I have come to the conclusion that this is a western otome game.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otome_game
homosexuals don't deserve good companions

small indie studio please understand
Budget for gay sex but no budget for testing
Works on my machine
wtf am i doing wrong i wonder
the roll is resetting your combat state and erasing your bonuses
but that hasn't happened for me up until now
is there a way to stop that from happening? the bonuses worked fine through act 1 and 2, is it just another act 3 bug? or did i frick up something in the settings about resetting combat state without knowing

Do you have a debuff causing it?
i don't think so, this has been happening for days now and the only permeant debuff I have is from the hag's eye and thats on a different character and only debuffs perception
that sucks if that's the case
natural 1s always fail

bg3 was made for reddit
that's insulting even to reddit
?t=41
>There are people who think the stereotypically angry, strong, independent person of color womyn fighter character is the most interesting companion.

No.

>filtered by the tutorial
Profound moronation.

I really liked Alfira. She is just so earnest and fits into the party perfectly.
Larian hates her
>Talentless hacks hate her
Fixed that for you anon
Is embracing dark urge a bad idea? Does it have radically less content like evil tav?
There is one point in the game where it's pretty obvious that killing that particular character is a bad idea as everyone just fricking dies immediately, just don't do that.

Wow, that's kind of gay. I was expecting it to matter more
