It's more that Vinny made fun of the bugs and performance issues. I don't think the graphics bothered him much, he played through the entirety of the Legends Arceus main game, for example.

Yeah, Vinny explicitly got into the game because he heard that it was a buggy disaster with constant glitches, which is right up his alley. But SV's performance problems usually aren't the fun kind.

Persona is fine since they make everyone look and act college aged anyway so they're tolerable to adults.
It's fine in persona because the high-school setting is basically just a backdrop for what might as well be adult characters to interact in. It's shit in SV because it never stops being about children and manchildren attending an academy with preschool-tier lessons. School settings only work if you can basically just pretend the characters are adults and ignore the school.

Joel disliked how SWSH was still same old Pokemon but more boring, despite appearances. Ironically, he might have enjoyed PLA or SV a little more, but he doesn't want to play anything other than Infinite Fusion now.
Vinny tried to find some enjoyment in SV, because he did like the open world aspect, but he pretty much hated everything else about it. He liked PLA more, but even then he couldn't be assed to play the post-game and you could tell he was getting bored of it by the end of the main story.

Vinny is based and doesn’t like modern Pokémon. I don’t trust anyone who does like it, quite frankly.
One of the first streams of his that I watched was the X stream and even then he was kind of just playing it just to play it. I knew it was over for the streams as soon as he nope'd out of LGPE.
X and Y were terrible too, so I can’t blame him. I wouldn’t have finished X either if my girlfriend at the time wasn’t begging me to.
I vividly remember a few things from those streams:

He finished the main story, and that’s all that probably matters to him, he likely just wanted to move on to other games rather than spend tons of time completing the Pokédex and getting burnt out. I do admittedly wish that he did play the postgame as well, but it is what it is.

Vinny did 12 2+ hour long streams of Pikmin 4. Game Freak just made bad games that pizza man couldn't bring himself to finish them. His first stream of Tears of the Kingdom was longer than he spent playing Scarlet/Violet.

I put down SM because it had a cutscene every 2 seconds. Pokemon is became so plastic and over-friendly in terms of cast and characters that the increased story focus is a huge detractor. It doesn't feel like a playable shounen anime, it feels like Dora the Explorer. And the gameplay was so easy as to be effectively non-existent. A chore. As far, SV isn't hugely different but I'm not very far. I don't know if would be holding me much if I weren't playing it to practice my moonrunes.
It's exciting seeing the environment get closer to what was shown in pokemon snap but that can only go so far.
I'd wager this is also how most older (former) pokemon fans feel.
