Because you can remove imperfections of the real life models to make them prettier with their in-game character and that's what the Japs do. On the other hand, you can make the models ugly and that's what western devs do.
I still cannot believe they're bringing her back after 17 years. SEVENTEEN. I'm so tired of memeing the beginning of Y3 or non-returning things being "sent to America" that I still haven't fully processed that she is going to be an actual character with dialogue and acknowledgement in the next game. If this is the price of losing Nagoshi I'm all for it, what a timeline.
>she is going to be an actual character
I feel like the trailer might be overstating her role/presence in the story. Picrel was less than 6 months ago and last I heard she was mostly just going to be featured as a Poundmate (with an accompanying sidequest). So they either
1) lied before
2) did a complete 180 and in ~4 months somehow rewrote/redesigned a ton of the game to feature her more prominently
3) are just trying to generating hype without actually intending to meaningfully involve her
I'm guessing the latter, since the recent trailer mostly just seems like a sequence of victory lap fan service events for Kiryu
Yeah I know, they've confirmed the bucket list thing is going to be side content that will probably just end unlocking them as Poundmates, my point is that after almost two decades even acknowledging that she exists *at all* is more than I was expecting.
I'm now almost expecting the final Poundmate to be Haruka and the entire rest of Morning Glory

If you play the demo you can see how it is. The "important" substories have the autoplay voiced dialogue with animated scenes (The picture taking minigame is an example) while the mundane ones are just dialogue boxes and unvoiced with generic animations and stuff. I assume the really important substories will have actual cutscenes and get treated like normal main story stuff.
Speaking of cutscenes, I noticed in 7 they seem to have like three different levels of quality to them. One is fully in-game with the text boxes and all, one looks maybe enhanced with just plain subtitles, and then there's an even better level of cutscenes, with really detailed models and much, much better lighting. You can often spot the switch to this last one because the sound character of the background atmosphere usually changes as well.
What I don't get is, if they have these much higher-quality model and light setups, and it seems to be running at full speed, why don't they just use that for everything? One example is when you get to the Komijul core, it switches between the two, but it's literally the same characters standing around in the same location, but suddenly everything feels that much less cinematic and impressive when it drops back down into the lower quality level.

Moose
I think it's because 6 showed them they can't do it for a full game either because of time constraints or budget. I imagine the higher quality stuff requires them to fully animate the whole thing which is why they try to get out of the animated stuff to generic animations and dialogue boxes as quickly as possible.

too intensive to always use those, 7 was made after they had to severely downgrade the Dragon Engine to account for base PS4s since 6 showed them that they were a little too ambitious with that. Gaiden is after like 7 years of having to figure out how to find a good middle ground with a downgraded engine and now they're able to properly handle higher quality cutscenes in engine more often.
The highest level of cutscene is likely uniquely mocapped and obviously you can't do that for everything, but things like using more detailed models and better lighting don't seem like things that would require much more work in the cases where you already them anyway. Hell, even the sound kinda sounds better in those sequences. But maybe it just worked well then because I was playing on PS5, maybe those sequences are even pre-rendered on PS4.

I heard there was the other guy, don't remember his name, said he wanted to make Kaoru to be one of central characters alongside Kiryu and Haruka. But Nagoshi fricking hate Kaoru and wanted Kiryu to be a virgin, so he sent Kaoru to America. What funny is that in Yakuza 3, you can still see Kaoru's picture on Kiryu's office desk. I don't know if someone in the dev team snuck that shit in because there's no fricking way Nagoshi would allow that, he's fricking hate Kaoru.
>Nagoshi wanted Kiryu to be a virgin
It's literally Yokoyama who did and acted all fudanshi over Kiryu's character in multiple of interviews and had to be tard wrangled by the rest of the team including Nagoshi to not get it in the actual game, get your facts straight
>y3 had her gaining weight and seeing an american cop >no weight gain in IW, no ring on the finger
These guys really hated the director for Yakuza 3 huh?
If there isn't a plot twist revealing these two as sisters separated from birth via coin lockers, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed. I can't be the only one who thought they look identical.
She's not, she's a story important character. If you have Gaiden you can even play the demo where you roam around with her as a party member. Kson is the Eri this time but I don't know if she's a party member, I think I saw a screenshot of her attacking but who knows.

The bucket list is considered side content so yeah she won't be part of the story
The Keihin Gang leaders were interesting enough to just make it a small side story but you couldn't go anywhere without Kim calling. Ended up just taking taxis everywhere.
I finished Judgement yesterday and aside from this shit I really liked it.
Starting LJ today and I have mixed feelings about the school focus but we'll see how it goes I guess.
The school fricking sucks dick. Personagays need not apply; those substories made me want to peel my fricking skin off. I don't care about your school clubs or your bullying problem you little c**t, let me go back to solving fricking crimes and being Tak Attorney.
The school is actually similar to minigame base from prior titles. Other than the first 2-3 chapters, you just go there to meet sawa and the headmaster.
Unfortunately the school minigames are sorta necessary, because they're the best source of exp unless you wanna beat up street mobs over and over.
They used the ring as a way to show you he's moving on from Yumi and put that part of his life behind him. He even talks with Hanawa about how he wanted to visit Hawaii with her and go to that church specifically to hammer it home that he's accepted her death.
It's funny how the Dondoko Island and Bucket List trailers could not possibly be further in tone from each other.
I still hope he tells Kiryu about the techniques he learned in another world completely seriously and Kiryu learns random FotNS moves. Imagine if Kiryu learned Musou Tensei as a usable move just by another name.
>spoiler
Cope or they might actually pull that? Because something like that it would make perfect sense and amazingly well done, which is why I really doubt it.
Even if he does survive you can't have a mode about Kiryu making amends with everything before he dies and them having him back to fighting the next game, there's no way
I'd like to hope RGG realises they can't keep not retiring Kiryu but I'm annoyed I can't be 100% sure
I don't believe for a second that they will, there's only so many times you can do a fake-out Kiryu death and by now I'm immune to it >Terada's bomb at the end of 2 >bleeding out in the snow at the end of 5 >being shot protecting Haruka at the end of 6
I'm so over it the cancer revelation didn't even phase me. 8 is for sure retiring Kiryu but I will not believe he's going to die until I literally see his lifeless corpse with my own eyes and even then it could be a Daidoji plot with a fake death pill
It needs to be something decisive, like there's just fricking way he lived kind of thing, massive hole in this torso, head blown off, sacrifices himself saving Ichi or something in some horrfic bloody thing.
If they kill Kiryu for real I'll actually grow some fricking respect for RGG. If they fake out his death again, I'm honestly fricking done. They have exhausted absolutely every possible avenue with Kiryu, while also proving the series can go on without him. Case in point: every protagonist since. Where's my fricking Akiyama game?
It's looking like the bucket list is something like the school stories from lost judgment, where the major minigame isn't actually one minigame but a collection of a whole bunch of shit. Ichiban's major minigame looks like its going to be the animal crossing one (which is probably pretty massive in its own right.) Seems like this game might top Y5 in terms of side content
the dub is really bad(and it's not just because of yong yea), there's not a single positive comment on any official upload by SEGA, Playstation, or RGG on twitter and youtube
For the same reason the final lap jingle for Dragon Kart was given the name "Final Rap" because Japs can't into Rs and Ls so you read the name and think you might be getting some sick beatboxing instead
for me, it's Nanami. I was neutral on her at first.. but after that first date, it was like something sparked between us. I found lots similarity with her and later am smitten by her
Just beat Kuroiwa's boss fight on Judgment at the final chapter of the game. Gotta admit that even though I knew that the game was good, didn't expect it to be so amazing in general. By far one of the best ones on the series, beyond kino in general. Even though the deadly damage mechanic is utter annoying bullshit.
I don't really mind the tailing and chase sequences all that much (although the tailing is objectively worse). The Keihin gang shit is irredeemable garbage, though. Really speaks to how amazing the story and characters are when the combat + multiple other aspects of gameplay are so lackluster and it still feels like an excellent overall experience
finished Gaiden earlier today and played some of the demo, I’m so pumped for IW, I can barely wait.
on a side note how long do the hostesses take in Gaiden? It’s the the only thing I have left for the plat besides pocket circuit and I’m not looking forward to it. something about the live action hostesses is off putting
Not long if you have the perfume gear and follow a guide for the best choices. You can skip everything except for the date cutscenes after you max their hearts out.
>how long do the hostesses take in Gaiden?
Roughly an hour to an hour and a half. Two if you want to fill out each section of the menu. An unholy amount if you want every single answer which I am not doing holy crap why can't you just choose it from the base answer?
Ai is the only one that seemingly has a bigger bar than any other girl. >I’m not looking forward to it
It's genuinely their worst take on it. It's super awkward, Kson is looking at notecards every few seconds if you just watch her eyes, three of the five reward videos you get are super mundane and tame, you don't even learn what a girl is like or what she likes until Relationship Level 1 which makes answering their questions super annoying because some girls don't like you being passive while others do, and the drinks are a waste of your money yet take up three separate skips.
Where does the cancer confirmation come from? Expected it in game but never came.
Does the coof exist in yakuzerverse? I notice the timeline conveniently timeskips from 2019 to early this year
What was that thing Kiryu had to do before his vacation to Hawaii that ended up taking him three years? (unless he just got travel banned lol)
Was Hanawa in 5 as a random npc or was the Suzuki talk pure sequel bait? Why did Daidoji do it to my boy Shishido? Hope he brutally slaughters every single one of them
It's not explained there either. It'll most likely be explained how he got it once the main game comes out. The demo only has Kiryu getting "carsick" and trying to run away from a fight which is obviously a sign that something's going on with him.
>Where does the cancer confirmation come from?
Trailers of 8. >Does the coof exist in yakuzerverse?
It might but that's just conjecture on my part. I noticed in LJ we had a bunch more random NPCs wandering around with face masks than typically is seen in the series. Yeah, you used to have one or two NPCs every once in a while but it felt like they were more frequent in LJ. Pretty sure it's based on real life though because a lot of the substories are about stuff that's pretty recent so I imagine it happened, we just didn't see it. >What was that thing Kiryu had to do before his vacation to Hawaii that ended up taking him three years?
We weren't told. I assume it's his cancer diagnosis + treatment or something since he was panting during multiple main story fights and smoking in almost every scene of Gaiden. >Was Hanawa in 5 as a random npc or was the Suzuki talk pure sequel bait? We don't know. We have a prerendered image of Nakajima in the DE found in the files but at the same time Hanawa is using Morinaga's VA.

Hanawa said something like you always put others before you when Kiryu brings it up, so my guess is something related to Sunflower, or even Ichiban. At least his original reason for the change of plans.
>longest lived dog is 31 years old
wtf I thought for sure it'd be a higher number than that because dogs tend to live longer than cats. And the oldest cat died at the age of 38: >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creme_Puff_(cat)
I have some but they're all scattered in my folders.
Ryuji's not really dead, is he? He supposedly died after fighting Kiryu and then the building never blew up. They've brought back characters that got shot in the fricking head, were shot 20 times from a helicopter machinegun, or took a suplex from the top of a tall building. Don't tell me they can't bring this homie back
Dude, Dead Souls already established he's alive and a takoyaki seller in Kamurocho. There's nothing that really even contradicts it happening and they constantly call back to Dead Souls in other games with 0 in particular having Majima's shotgun and Miracle Johnson's substory using the exact same spawn points on Tenkaichi.
No, he'll be viewed like Lily Gao, a diversity hire for a legacy character who's performance will just be forgotten. At least the PS2 dub has moments that are funny, the Gaiden dub just looks shit and boring.
Ideally people want some connection like Steve Blum, but it's probably going to be some random choice that makes no sense to anyone like Zeno Robinson.
Inagine having a square mug like Tsuruno's and voice shot to shit with cigarettes and cheap Yamasaki while having a high school girly first name. Yui chan kawaii~ Frickin hilarious

Yeah, I agree that Ryuji's alive and being kept as a sleeper agent by the daidoji like nishitani and shishido
How the frick will the Daidoji force Nishitani and Shishido to be agents for them anyways? It's not like either of them have anyone that the daidoji could threaten if they don't cooperate.
Sorry, only yakuza 3 deaths don't count according to yokoyama.
I don't think Ryuji ever was implied to be dead. They just had fist fight and he passed out, he was never mentioned past that as he mostly retired after that.
If he was really dead it should be pretty big deal considering that would make Kiryu a murderer for beating him to death.
There was no Daidoji secret mumbo jumbo shit for 2 to give a reason for Ryuji to fake his death. How you misread that ending entirely makes no damn sense to me. Kiryu was looking around for any proof Ryuji didn't actually die and by the end of it was just making it so that no one goes and tarnishes his memory by using it to stir shit up.
>Kiryu was looking around for any proof Ryuji didn't actually die
He was looking to see why Ryuji would be wandering around his hometown extorting and scamming people and making sure it wasn't actually him because he didn't want people using his name for clout to do underhanded things. >How you misread that ending entirely makes no damn sense to me.
Because the dialogue has Kiryu referring to him as if he's in the same position Kiryu's in. He doesn't need to be working with the Daidoji, he can simply be "dead" like Kiryu is and use his underground connections to start anew. Even in Dead Souls he's just wandering around and people don't know he's alive until he actually pops up to threaten some random goons. You can also take the same dialogue to mean that he is actually dead and Kiryu just want to respect his memory.
nvm I looked up, apparently Nagoshi said he was alive, but Yokoyama said he wasn't from an interview few years back. Considering Nagoshi is no more, and Yokoyama is fully in charge now, Ryuji is most likely dead and Kiryu beat him to death.
Kiryu killing Ryuji does not contradict much later no kill meme as it was mentioned for the first time as late as y5. Plus you die if you fail the qte, which means he dies if he fails it.
No kill meme was a thing from the very start, the whole reason why Saejima's rubber bullet was invented was because they were thinking of killing off Saejima but the devs started to like him enough to a point they wanted to use him for sequels, and they couldn't make a killer a series-long protagonist so they came up with rubber bullets. Also "losing" in Yakuza game doesn't mean death, it just means you lost the fight.
Yokoyama literally said that read the fricking sauce

There's also an explanation as to how the plot of 4 would've made more sense if Saejima actually killed them with real bullets instead of rubber, and there are bits that showed how the rubber bullets were a last-minute addition, but I'm not going to explain that to you, you can translate and read it yourself, I'll give you the link.

how in the world cop rounds were the last minute addition if the entirety of ueno seiwa plot, akiyama plot, the commissioner career were built upon misusing them? 4 has the same classic structure of butterfly effect most other yakuza have, with a small incident spiraling into a huge shitstorm except this one small incident was fully keikaku doori'd. It would be an entire different game with the different butterfly squashed.

it was a good gacha only its very first year of existing with them actually delivering missed lore bits, then Sega sold it off due to pandemic losses an shot. It's a zombie now
You shouldn't want it in the first place. >It's not F2P friendly in the slightest. >Even if you whale the pricing is astronomically terrible and you HAVE to get the VIP subscription on top of everything else if you want to compete. >The amount of diamonds you get per week means it takes two weeks to do a single 10 pull.
That's with being in the highest tier of PVP that takes all week to reach due to stamina costs and at least rank B in guild battles every week which is a pure slog on both ends. >Its pity system is so bad that you need to do 50,000 diamonds worth of pulls and it only applies to a worthless banner while the actual meta banners have pity systems that require 25,000 diamonds of pulls in a single week to get the banner character which doesn't carry over to other banners.
For reference, you earn roughly 500 diamonds a week with the methods I said as a free player and you have to play roughly an hour every single day while checking in every few hours for guild battles. >KSR/SSR cards are 1% chances to pull. >Power creep happens literally every few weeks so even if you pulled something meta a few weeks back it's very likely already outdated. >All SSR cards are unusable now that KSRs are out and exists solely as stat fodder for KSR cards since you equip them to the KSR cards making PVP even harder to ascend. >You won't experience like 80% of the substories because they're all tied to very specific cards in a massive pool of cards.
The important stuff is already translated if you actually care.

Events are nearly all retellings of the mainline games with absolutely no differences with some minor exceptions like Tanimura hanging out with Nair or the Halloween event where Seong-Hui, Saeko, and Adachi hang out (Not the 7 versions apparently).
RGGO actually has a bunch of OCs like Kamulop, at least five hostesses, Mayumi (Ichiban's party member), and some random OC characters that won character polls to be made into cards. Case and point, here's one of the OCs who just got a new card for Christmas.
Is Kume not getting any comeuppance for killing a man?
Also, I am not ready for Kume to get an obligatory sad/sympathetic backstory, or to see him have a jacked body.
>sad/sympathetic backstory
I doubt we'll ever see Kume again but if he does come back,I'm not sure how sad of a back story they can give him. Pretty sure they say he only ended up being in Bleach Japan because he got strung along by a girl. Most they could probably do is come up with something shitty like his parents neglecting him and he was bullied so he's starved for attention/approval.
Kume was probably arrested and it's not something that is going to be mentioned on-screen because that was how much of a nothing he was. Ichiban obviously would have had to talk to the cops after Masato's death and there is no reason why Ichiban wouldn't give the twerp up.
BP1's a good foundation but it's got a lot of issues with grinding out money if you want to level up your stats which you can't really do in BP1. The story also isn't super interesting and doesn't really start moving until the last two or three chapters. It's more about setting up the Dragon Heat boss and nothing much else.
BP2's great. Massive improvements on every mechanic, better fights, more mechanics, money is actually viable to obtain, more content, etc. It's just a better game.
Do not go for 100%, I'm warning you now. BP1 alone is more than two dozen hours with save states farming poker just for money. Settle for the Gaia/Chaos fights (All substories) and leave it at that.

Every females that got facescanned/based on real people in RGG looks so weird, esp in Dragon Engine. They simply just cant compete against original female characters.
Let the dude rest already, use Gaiden to explore literally any other character. Give me a Gaiden with Saejima or Tatsuya or fricking Arase the hitman, anyone but Kiryu.
It's everything for the 17th time, and why wouldn't they? More is more and it's pretty much free content once they've implemented it once. I wish they'd have more new stuff though. None of the Japanese games or the gambling interest me in the slightest, and neither does fighting games. They've used the same old 3-4 arcade games for how long now, and they hardly even update the UFO Catcher prizes. I'd like to see Taiko no Tatsujin again, but I guess that's a licensing issue. Dragon Kart was really fun and a great addition though.
>I'd like to see Taiko no Tatsujin again, but I guess that's a licensing issue.
It very likely is since they had a collab with them and MGK is in one of the PSP games. There's also nothing they could really collab with out right now. Rhythm Festival as part of the Music Pass? The Drum Master as some sort of Xbox cross-promotion even though I believe that's not getting updates anymore?
I have that Drum Session game for PS4 but I have no idea if they're still actively updating it and adding new stuff. I guess that's a problem with those one-note (two-note?) games where they do everything as DLC. Unless you're GTA/Diablo/Fortnite-sized with a complex "seasons", the base game will eventually be forgotten, and you'll have to do a complete refresh/reset/re-release.

Drum Session stopped getting updated at least two or three years ago.
The Drum Master came out a year or so ago on a platform not really known for having the series (Xbox) so I think they stopped updating it fairly quickly. Last DLC pack was Case Closed at the tail end of January of this year.
Rhythm Festival is the current one that they're focusing on and it still gets weekly updates to the Music Pass which I sincerely hope fails because, while it has basically every song including arcade ones, it's a subscription pass and not purchasable DLC. I just want my Tokusatsu songs without having to pay for temporary access.

Doesn't even look like it's available for PS4/5. And yeah, I'm not touching anything that's only available as a subscription, least of all an endless, casual arcade game. My gaming is often very sporadic, and if I paid for a month of whatever I'd feel like I'd have to force myself play a whole bunch to get my money's worth, which is no fun.

>Doesn't even look like it's available for PS4/5.
Nah, it's Switch. For Taiko it primarily goes back and forth between Nintendo and Sony, with Nintendo getting more this gen. Nintendo got these three with the Rhythmic Adventure Pack being two of the 3DS games with RPG modes (Mystery Dungeon and Space-Time Adventure). They had English Patches in the works for years that never came out so it was pretty nice to have that happen. Sony only got Drum Session this gen. Hopefully we see something for PS5 even if it's just a The Drum Master port. >My gaming is often very sporadic, and if I paid for a month of whatever I'd feel like I'd have to force myself play a whole bunch to get my money's worth, which is no fun.
My exact sentiment. I pick up rhythm games on the fly unless it's something like Patapon so I'll play for like an hour or two every few weeks if that.
Playing the Ishin remake, is there any way to turn off the auto-abilities from the troopers?
If I remember right you go to the Battle Dungeon guy in the Shinsengumi HQ. If that isn't it then I think it was an option in the settings. If you're talking about Corporal powers, you can't. Those passives are on by default.

No problem, I thought it was annoying as frick having a tiger jump out and maul bosses as soon as the fight started, trooper cards were the absolute worst part of the game
>Already dislike Tomizawa from the little bit I've seen in the demo
Funny how the game is still over a month away and I already know who I'll have perma benched
He just seems like Nanba 2.0. The story scene in the trailer a couple months ago made him out to be a bit better than the demo was because it has him understanding Ichiban and Kiryu's mindset a bit more.
People hate Nanba for the dumbest reasons. Try to sleep outside for a singular week before saying it's ewwwwww fake hobo to do it for 6 fricking months. And earlygame Ichiban didn't look trustworthy at all after that shouneny goddamn braindead bridge scene. Also this blind hate exposes rotten dubgays as the dub made him b***hy in places he was not.
>Nanba 2.0
I didn't know who he was at first and assumed it was nanba's brother, shown for the first time. But no, it's just some guy. Wonder if we'll ever get to see him
January 26th PS5 ps4 xbox windows steam
That said there was a 7 hour gap between the pc and ps5 for Gaiden, just a lil bit gay concidering it used to be the sony exclusive series but honestly frick the nowadays sony.
Vacation Bundle is the same as the Premium Masters Pack from 7. Has the equivalent of the TFMT, Legend, NG+, and I believe some outfits.
Assorted Outfits are like it says, cosmetics, just like 7 had.
Sujimon & Resort Bundle is very likely just cheat DLC like the cheat DLC for Ichiban Confections in 7, the Drone Parts in Judgment, or the entire season pass in LJ.
Yakuza CD Collection Set is the same as that ripoff CD set in 7 where you get a bunch of karaoke songs from previous games you can play on the bar's jukebox and nowhere else making it the biggest waste of money possible.
I am tempted to rebuy sony xperia x just because all the motherfrickers keep using the damn thing. It still can run stuff like mahjong soul, the only problem is weako battery really.
Dragons: Kiryu aside, Shibusawa and Tendo survived and went to jail. Fishdragons, Ichi aside Sawashiro went to jail. Dragons are not dying in fight in this game, Ryuji is fine.
Tattoo symbolism stopped being that important when 3/4 of the final bosses of Yakuza 4 didn't even have one. Only a couple characters actually had kind of symbolic ones afterwards
Some a pretty obvious. I actually think Kido not having a tattoo works as a symbol just as well as if he had one since the whole point was that he was someone who hadn't found his big defining moment until the events of the game played out, so it's like he hadn't truly found what represents him and probably would've had a proper tattoo after the events of the game if he stuck around.
The only rule about the series that's dumb is the notion that Kiryu is a virgin since the original yakuza even in the main story implied Kiryu went to soaplands at some point because Haruka asked if he had ever been to one and he got flustered and awkward about it.
yokoyama wishes it was. they want us to believe that Kiryu spent his entire life only having a pure love for yumi and that love never faltered and he stayed faithful
Well yeah. The hostess dates have him sound like he has feelings for them. Plus hostesses through their legalese bullshit aren't prostitutes.
Japanese culture views prostitution as not cheating because it's just a transaction. If it's sex with no feelings attached to it then it's not cheating.

> got to the end of yakuza 2, died to ryuji > game reloaded me with barely 20% of my full health bar
all the bosses in the PS2 yakuza's are such a massive fricking pain in the ass. I beat him by just hitting him twice, stepping back so he whiffed and doing that again 50 times
definitly skill issue on my end not realizing exploiting the bad ai is the best tactic by far in every boss because 80% of your moveset just doesn't work
Who was her model based on?
My wife
https://twitter.com/FirstSummerUika/status/1724469597884362779?t=EZ3TajodKgvVpiWWO830Aw
Japanese games are like a bizarro-world inversion of western titles where the in-game models look better than the real life women they're based on
Because you can remove imperfections of the real life models to make them prettier with their in-game character and that's what the Japs do. On the other hand, you can make the models ugly and that's what western devs do.
You think so in this case? Because I think Akame looks pretty so-so to me, her face looks weird. I think it's the high cheek bones.
Uika is pretty

Ok thank you anon
For me?
seeing her smile for one last time was one of the best parts of the finale, I'm going to miss her Kaoru is still best girl
go back to your jail cell, Shindo
her model in OG 2 looks much better
>Kaoru is still best girl
Yes
why the frick is she so greasy?
Maybe half of her is still waiting for him.
she just covered herself in nuru lotion for me
she's fingering herself in this scene
with her clothes still on???!!!
women don't even have to take of their pants to finger themselves
she often thinks about kiryu in her office
I'm now almost expecting the final Poundmate to be Haruka and the entire rest of Morning Glory
>we want to be the ones protecting you this time, Ojii-san!
I'm expecting to shed more than a few tears throughout IW
People are focusing on the Kiryu side, but I really hope Ichiban manages to get a more happy ending with his mom compared to what happened with Masumi and Masato.
the demo suggested she was dying or something right? Which is why she wanted to find and see her son?
>Haruka stands like Kamiya as she then points.
>All the kids come running from behind her with random utensils from around the house to attack the enemy.
>Taichi drives up in the firetruck and sprays water at the enemy.
>Yuta walks up and punches the enemy who lands at the feet of a Haruto holding Mame.
>Mame bites the enemy's head.
Make it Idol Haruka so your party also gets recovered and/or buffed
Mame being alive in 2019 seemed like a stretch. You really think he's still kicking now?
If Komaki and the Obatarian are still alive so is Mame. Nobody ever dies of old age in the Yakuza series.
Not to mention Daigo's Poundmate has him summoning the ghosts of the dead Tojo chairmen. Anything can happen in Ichi's Scott Pilgrim Stick of Truth world.
That dog stood up to the Tamashiro family and Mine, that dog is invincible
So are they bringing back fully rendered cut scenes for side content like Kiwami 2? Seems like her scene was a cut scene not a side quest
I think it's because 6 showed them they can't do it for a full game either because of time constraints or budget. I imagine the higher quality stuff requires them to fully animate the whole thing which is why they try to get out of the animated stuff to generic animations and dialogue boxes as quickly as possible.
The highest level of cutscene is likely uniquely mocapped and obviously you can't do that for everything, but things like using more detailed models and better lighting don't seem like things that would require much more work in the cases where you already them anyway. Hell, even the sound kinda sounds better in those sequences. But maybe it just worked well then because I was playing on PS5, maybe those sequences are even pre-rendered on PS4.
too intensive to always use those, 7 was made after they had to severely downgrade the Dragon Engine to account for base PS4s since 6 showed them that they were a little too ambitious with that. Gaiden is after like 7 years of having to figure out how to find a good middle ground with a downgraded engine and now they're able to properly handle higher quality cutscenes in engine more often.
It's literally Yokoyama who did and acted all fudanshi over Kiryu's character in multiple of interviews and had to be tard wrangled by the rest of the team including Nagoshi to not get it in the actual game, get your facts straight
>y3 had her gaining weight and seeing an american cop
>no weight gain in IW, no ring on the finger
These guys really hated the director for Yakuza 3 huh?
>sayama
If there isn't a plot twist revealing these two as sisters separated from birth via coin lockers, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed. I can't be the only one who thought they look identical.
You mean triplets.
Holy based Binary Domain enjoyer.

What the FRICK
anchan!
Wow kan kan mikan made it to Yakuza? Is her character an important one or just like a side story one? Still cool though.
She's a main character and a party member.
Cool. I already planned to play the game but might as well get it day one for Anchan. Hope this isnt an Eri situation though.
She's not, she's a story important character. If you have Gaiden you can even play the demo where you roam around with her as a party member. Kson is the Eri this time but I don't know if she's a party member, I think I saw a screenshot of her attacking but who knows.
have a nice day moosefricker c**t-homosexual.

Full agree, Moosec**t Chinkspammer should indeed find the nearest bridge, tie a noose, and kill his fat ass.
off yourself dear friend
Aww, baby moosefricker took off his trip.
is this a jav actress or something?
love live voice actress/singer
who is this gorgeous angle? i played all the games but dont remember her
new broad in IW, see
https://www.nexusmods.com/likeadragongaiden/mods/148
did RGG really not have the budget to have her say something else once in a while
the devs blow most of the development money on banging jav actresses, so no
It reminds me of how many times I heard the same 'amasawa' line from yagami when doing the school stories
I hate that Kiryu says Yagami's catchphrases when doing shit.
RGG are the kings of asset reuse
10 babies with her MINIMUM
>10 hours grinding out the coliseum to completion
>oh great i have to do the goddamned hell rumbles
>spends more hours on that
>smoked a total of 169 Seven Stars by the end of the game
>watch IW trailer
>realize that i am the reason why kiryu has cancer
shoutouts to my fellows that kept yagami from giving in to his smoking habit but also gave Akame all the cigs she'd want
Uh oh!
This was easily the dumbest, most obnoxious mechanic in the whole game
THANKS FOR THE USELESS FRICKING PYROXENE, KIM
That really is the worst part about it, if defeating them gave you a bunch of money or way more skill points maybe I wouldn't hate it as much
https://twitter.com/RGGStudio/status/1732981810236461255/photo/1
The bucket list is considered side content so yeah she won't be part of the story
The Keihin Gang leaders were interesting enough to just make it a small side story but you couldn't go anywhere without Kim calling. Ended up just taking taxis everywhere.
I hated the "realistic" delay between messages, made this just that much more annoying
Unfortunately the school minigames are sorta necessary, because they're the best source of exp unless you wanna beat up street mobs over and over.
>they didn't bring back the battle theme for the Keihin leader in LJ
What a disappointment.
The funniest part is how the first thing yagami did was confiscate his gun.
This lowered Judgment like an entire point for me. You can't even ignore it like Majima Everywhere because it spawns three million enemies on the map.
YAGAMIIIIII
YAGAMI
GOHAAAAAAAAAAAN
There's no way they are setting Kaoru as a love interest and make Kiryu get over Yumi right? He started to give a shit about her again on Gaiden.
They used the ring as a way to show you he's moving on from Yumi and put that part of his life behind him. He even talks with Hanawa about how he wanted to visit Hawaii with her and go to that church specifically to hammer it home that he's accepted her death.
Well, he does get pissed Hanawa calls him like five seconds after he puts it there so I think that's the thing they're going for.
>Huh I wonder if we had AI to give me advice on Love, would I be with Yumi?
What did Kiryu mean by this?
I just hope they genuinely commit and actually kill Kiryu.
Even if he does survive you can't have a mode about Kiryu making amends with everything before he dies and them having him back to fighting the next game, there's no way
I'd like to hope RGG realises they can't keep not retiring Kiryu but I'm annoyed I can't be 100% sure
Thats why he needs to die, fully commit to it. Leave no doubt he's dead as frick.
Yeah, show the corpse if you have to
I don't believe for a second that they will, there's only so many times you can do a fake-out Kiryu death and by now I'm immune to it
>Terada's bomb at the end of 2
>bleeding out in the snow at the end of 5
>being shot protecting Haruka at the end of 6
I'm so over it the cancer revelation didn't even phase me. 8 is for sure retiring Kiryu but I will not believe he's going to die until I literally see his lifeless corpse with my own eyes and even then it could be a Daidoji plot with a fake death pill
looking at this pic makes me happy thinking that lad gaiden kiryu face looks like something in the middle between y6-k2 face and his y5-k1-0 face
Motherfricker looks og1 from some angles too.
Maybe we will get Akiyama Gaiden?
First non-Kiryu Gaiden game will for sure be Majima and Saejima.
And I guess Daigo since he's now chained with the two
That's why they need their own game. They've been Daigo's glorified bodyguards since 6, and they need something to actually do.
Why did the Judgment series want us to dress her up all the time?
Because she is cute. And also to teach hikikomori and weebs that the awkward chick is secretly the hottest when she doesn't have to change.
>the awkward chick is secretly the hottest when she doesn't have to change.
>Where's my fricking Akiyama game?
Too expensive.
Can't be more expensive than Yagami. He would just be uninteresting as a protagonist since they already ran out of ideas for him by Yakuza 5.
>it could be a Daidoji plot with a fake death pill
welp, we already know the ending and post credits scene, this dude won't catch a fricking break
It's looking like the bucket list is something like the school stories from lost judgment, where the major minigame isn't actually one minigame but a collection of a whole bunch of shit. Ichiban's major minigame looks like its going to be the animal crossing one (which is probably pretty massive in its own right.) Seems like this game might top Y5 in terms of side content
>character's name + exclamation mark
Fricking have a nice day autist

wtf why
the dub is really bad(and it's not just because of yong yea), there's not a single positive comment on any official upload by SEGA, Playstation, or RGG on twitter and youtube

Why is the final boss of 7 theme 'ism' anyway
For the same reason the final lap jingle for Dragon Kart was given the name "Final Rap" because Japs can't into Rs and Ls so you read the name and think you might be getting some sick beatboxing instead
>felt bad about rejecting Amane
>reloaded my save and accepted her love
My heart is still with Sana no matter what.
for me, it's Nanami. I was neutral on her at first.. but after that first date, it was like something sparked between us. I found lots similarity with her and later am smitten by her
I can already tell they're going to write out her being a self-described hick in the English dub
You don't really get the impression that she would sound like one in the one dub line she had in the trailer
It's actually pretty funny that they cast a guy that sounds closer to Darryl Kurylo's version of Kiryu as Hanawa instead of Kiryu.
I don't know if Yea's casting was due to RGG possibly becoming more involved, or them just wanting a more "nuanced" voice for the expanded roles
I genuinely think it's because the old localization director left after lost judgement.
It already sounds like most of the 7 English cast is back, so who knows
Just beat Kuroiwa's boss fight on Judgment at the final chapter of the game. Gotta admit that even though I knew that the game was good, didn't expect it to be so amazing in general. By far one of the best ones on the series, beyond kino in general. Even though the deadly damage mechanic is utter annoying bullshit.
The tailing and keihin gang spam put it down from 8/10 to 4/10.
FRICK ALL INVESTIGATION MISSIONS
I don't really mind the tailing and chase sequences all that much (although the tailing is objectively worse). The Keihin gang shit is irredeemable garbage, though. Really speaks to how amazing the story and characters are when the combat + multiple other aspects of gameplay are so lackluster and it still feels like an excellent overall experience
Fricking amazing. Group fights have always been one of my favorite moments on Yakuza games, and this team is so great.
Tailing was annoying but not that bad, now getting
all the time along with random mob fights was annoying as hell. Though the latter is on every game.
>Kuroiwa pulling a Gill at his final fight
All right that's the first time someone does that on the series. What an absolute unit.

It's funny how the Dondoko Island and Bucket List trailers could not possibly be further in tone from each other.
Almost like they want to play up the contrast between the two main characters
wait I missed this trailer, did they get Bill Farmer back as Date? holy based
Sure sounds like he came back from the cameo in 7
>Komaki tells Kiryu a secret art that helped him cure cancer once which explains how Komaki lives this long
Wait, how the frick is Komaki still alive ? I thought he was pretty old in Y1. He hasn't change a bit, what the frick ?
That's the power of Hokuto Ujo Ken baby.
Saejima Gaiden but he goes back to jail
She's cute IRL
finished Gaiden earlier today and played some of the demo, I’m so pumped for IW, I can barely wait.
on a side note how long do the hostesses take in Gaiden?

Everytime.
Hope he brutally slaughters every single one of them
>Expected it in game but never came.
Oops, forgot I didn't play the demo. Maybe there I guess
I mean
https://www.npr.org/2023/10/25/1208478868/bobi-worlds-oldest-dog-dies-portuguese
>I assume it's his cancer diagnosis + treatment
Hanawa said something like you always put others before you when Kiryu brings it up, so my guess is something related to Sunflower, or even Ichiban. At least his original reason for the change of plans.
>Morinaga
>suspiciously off-screened
Hmmm...
>longest lived dog is 31 years old
wtf I thought for sure it'd be a higher number than that because dogs tend to live longer than cats. And the oldest cat died at the age of 38:

What do you guys think of Project X Zone 2 Kiryu?
I love the crossover interactions.
During that time they still localized "Kiryu-chan" as "Kazzy"
Kiryu in SRW with an Original mech when ?
This one is actually a localization, if I remember right. The original was more Ryo having youthful energy, and then Kiryu reminiscing.
Cancer? That's nothing, try being so full of disease you can use it offensively
>inb4 one of the "jobs" Ichiban can schizo Kiryu into works like this

Is that a System for a Younger Audience character?
That's Tiki, a dragon girl from Fire Emblem Awakening.
That's all I got.
You have any non Yakuza PxZ images?
If you do, put it in a litterbox link for 3 days so I can download them.
I can't believe my boy Joe Musashi is coming back.
I have some but they're all scattered in my folders.
Dude, Dead Souls already established he's alive and a takoyaki seller in Kamurocho. There's nothing that really even contradicts it happening and they constantly call back to Dead Souls in other games with 0 in particular having Majima's shotgun and Miracle Johnson's substory using the exact same spawn points on Tenkaichi.
thanks anon.
hope to see it in a Yakuza thread soon!
have a nice day.
Incredible. Saved.
2 years from now everyone will look back and say that yong wasn't really that bad of a dub
The Hayden Christensen among actors given the same bad direction
No, he'll be viewed like Lily Gao, a diversity hire for a legacy character who's performance will just be forgotten. At least the PS2 dub has moments that are funny, the Gaiden dub just looks shit and boring.
Honestly I agree. Him as Kiryu isn't great but it's also not outright terrible. It's just an "ehhhh".
It deeply upsets me to see how shit Akiyama looks in Dragon Engine.
Speaking of, they're already hiding who's dubbing Yamadera here
Ideally people want some connection like Steve Blum, but it's probably going to be some random choice that makes no sense to anyone like Zeno Robinson.

Ryuji's not really dead, is he? He supposedly died after fighting Kiryu and then the building never blew up. They've brought back characters that got shot in the fricking head, were shot 20 times from a helicopter machinegun, or took a suplex from the top of a tall building. Don't tell me they can't bring this homie back
He's selling takoyaki in Miami
Sorry, only yakuza 3 deaths don't count according to yokoyama.
Those 3 are the only retconned deaths so far right? Excluding twins or korean doubles. All of them on Y3 funnily enough, wonder if Mine's next.
At this point I think they just regret everything about Y3's non-Orphanage plot. Three deaths retconned and Kazama's twin is near non-existent.
Kazama's twin is non-existent because the voice actor died
He died in 2020 like 8 months after 7 released, that's not the reason
Point being they're bringing back Sayama for the first time since 2006, if Kazama's VA was alive there's a chance Joji would also be part of Kiryu's bucket list.
Sayama moved to US to hide him in Guadalupe Mountains.
Yeah, I agree that Ryuji's alive and being kept as a sleeper agent by the daidoji like nishitani and shishido
their asses are fricked once ryuji shows them his dragon of kansai
How the frick will the Daidoji force Nishitani and Shishido to be agents for them anyways? It's not like either of them have anyone that the daidoji could threaten if they don't cooperate.
Bomb collars
They just point guns at them and not let them leave their cutscenes, meaning that they are actually in danger.
sissy hypno
I don't think Ryuji ever was implied to be dead. They just had fist fight and he passed out, he was never mentioned past that as he mostly retired after that.
If he was really dead it should be pretty big deal considering that would make Kiryu a murderer for beating him to death.
The sidequest in Gaiden makes the implication that he's dead.
It doesn't, it's open ended since Kiryu makes a joke that implies Ryuji is "dead" like Kiryu is "dead".
It's open-ended.
nvm I looked up, apparently Nagoshi said he was alive, but Yokoyama said he wasn't from an interview few years back.
You made that up
Sauce: Yakuza 4 official complete guide book by Famitsu, Yokoyama interview.
Kiryu shoots two dudes right at the start of 2 with zero hesitation.
Kiryu also shoots grunts with no hesitation in Like a Dragon gaiden too?
Saejima thing was entirely to demonize the impudent corrupt cops and their fallen yakuza pets. It doesn't need no coping.
Yokoyama literally said that read the fricking sauce
I'm tired of yokoyama shit, a game is a composite product of at least few top lead creators, and if he didn't get something in the game straight up, his rumblings don't fricking matter.
> "you made it up you're lying"
> provides sauce
> "I don't give a shit shutup"
I think your rumbling is even more worthless than Yokoyama's lmao.
There's also an explanation as to how the plot of 4 would've made more sense if Saejima actually killed them with real bullets instead of rubber, and there are bits that showed how the rubber bullets were a last-minute addition, but I'm not going to explain that to you, you can translate and read it yourself, I'll give you the link.
https://w.atwiki.jp/aniwotawiki/pages/18285.html
I believed you, I just wanted the source and telling you that you're wrong was the fastest way to get it
how in the world cop rounds were the last minute addition if the entirety of ueno seiwa plot, akiyama plot, the commissioner career were built upon misusing them? 4 has the same classic structure of butterfly effect most other yakuza have, with a small incident spiraling into a huge shitstorm except this one small incident was fully keikaku doori'd. It would be an entire different game with the different butterfly squashed.
also I forgot to mention that it wasn't Yokoyama's decision either, he said that the entire dev team wanted Saejima to be alive by the end, so he had rewrite it.
So it would be a completely different game, gg. Does he have fantom pains from discarded drafts or something? Jesus almighty what a fricking hack.
I really hate chinky face and red lipsticks.
"realistic japanese beauty" like in yakuza games are so damn ugly. they want us to believe that Saori (Judgment) is super beautiful, but she's just super ugly
>they want us to believe that Saori (Judgment) is super beautiful, but she's just super ugly
Holy shit taste
>but she's just super ugly
Skill issue.
moron
yeah she looks ugly as hell
2D anime > fake3D prostitutes
You are supposed to play these games for handsome old men anyway.
I refuse to believe anyone out there picked anything other than this dress for her
I used default everything as God intended. She's already perfect, why change her?
my saori chan is better
Tanimura is that you?
saa na?
this is cursed, i don't like it.
why? dragon engine tanimura is awesome
I can only imagine how uncomfortable meeting her at the trial with Kido was
I'm not a fan of those stringy shoulder straps. Here's mine glammed up, I think glasses are a must to keep her character.
Using same logic I went for the suit, pearls and glasses and it went out of hand fast
>new games are gonna be turn based
>they're finally gonna kill off kiryu with literal cancer
it's over
Is there any hope for the gacha to get localized?
it was a good gacha only its very first year of existing with them actually delivering missed lore bits, then Sega sold it off due to pandemic losses an shot.

Events are nearly all retellings of the mainline games with absolutely no differences with some minor exceptions like Tanimura hanging out with Nair or the Halloween event where Seong-Hui, Saeko, and Adachi hang out (Not the 7 versions apparently).
yakuza having typical gacha pandering events like valentines banners when they only have like 4 notable female characters is honestly pretty funny.
RGGO actually has a bunch of OCs like Kamulop, at least five hostesses, Mayumi (Ichiban's party member), and some random OC characters that won character polls to be made into cards. Case and point, here's one of the OCs who just got a new card for Christmas.

All those bosses you fought in the series? Snatched by Daidoji. Yokoyama is preparing them for the new spin off series
>me whenever Akame gives me a side quest
unless that side quest is fricking her brains out, in which case Kiryu kindly declines
I want a bit of Akame on the side
Reminder that Taichi is wasting his hard earned money on some hags in cabaret instead of supporting his family
hot
Are the PSP games good? Just downloaded them on my switch.
Settle for the Gaia/Chaos fights (All substories) and leave it at that.
play kurohyou my dear
>i'm autistic
what do you think about this video?
MooseBlack person on suicide watch.
Every females that got facescanned/based on real people in RGG looks so weird, esp in Dragon Engine. They simply just cant compete against original female characters.
Looks odd whenever a facescaned character faces an original one. Shibusawa vs Kiryu is the best example of this.
And it gets weird when you have facescaned characters playing "themselves", facescaned Muppets, and facescaned Danny Trejo
kiyo is a cute hag milf, shut up
Judgment 3...... onegai...
Here’s your main villain
>Judgment 3 set in Hawaii and Yagami has to figure out the surfer murders
M-m-monster kino
We need a Kiryu Gaiden 2
Let the dude rest already, use Gaiden to explore literally any other character. Give me a Gaiden with Saejima or Tatsuya or fricking Arase the hitman, anyone but Kiryu.
Can it be another rhythm game instead of a brawler?
Beating Daigo Dojima... with another Daigo Dojima. Cathartic.
>Daigo fighting the man who ruined his life
Mahjong bros... I see no jansou on the Hawaii map... also holy frick I hope it's not the final look of it
https://www.famitsu.com/news/202309/20317571.html
Mahjong is in, it's probably just not in Hawaii.
>shogi for the 17th time
It's everything for the 17th time, and why wouldn't they?
>Rhythm Festival
If I remember right you go to the Battle Dungeon guy in the Shinsengumi HQ. If that isn't it then I think it was an option in the settings. If you're talking about Corporal powers, you can't. Those passives are on by default.
Thanks lads
No problem, I thought it was annoying as frick having a tiger jump out and maul bosses as soon as the fight started, trooper cards were the absolute worst part of the game
Too late to implicate Angry Birds
>Already dislike Tomizawa from the little bit I've seen in the demo
Funny how the game is still over a month away and I already know who I'll have perma benched
He just seems like Nanba 2.0. The story scene in the trailer a couple months ago made him out to be a bit better than the demo was because it has him understanding Ichiban and Kiryu's mindset a bit more.
Nanba was also perma benched in 7, so it just means things are staying consistent
Wonder if we'll ever get to see him
Does it come out the same time for PC or is this one of those gay release thingy?
January 26th PS5 ps4 xbox windows steam
That said there was a 7 hour gap between the pc and ps5 for Gaiden, just a lil bit gay concidering it used to be the sony exclusive series but honestly frick the nowadays sony.
Alright. I remember it having like MONTHS delay between PS4 and PC for 7. Frick that shit.
>- Master Vacation Bundle
>- Assorted Outfit Bundle
>- Sujimon & Resort Bundle
>- Yakuza CD Collection Set
What the frick are these?
Can you creamAPI these?
I remember I creamAPI the entire LJ DLC
Probably if they're just stuff you download. You can try it on 7 and see if you get stuff.
I bought 7 on PS4 cause I didn't want to wait.
the music is useful now
Hallelujah.
Playing the Ishin remake, is there any way to turn off the auto-abilities from the troopers?
Yes, go into troopers>ability activation and set all groups to manual
I am tempted to rebuy sony xperia x just because all the motherfrickers keep using the damn thing. It still can run stuff like mahjong soul, the only problem is weako battery really.
For me it's her.
Dragons: Kiryu aside, Shibusawa and Tendo survived and went to jail. Fishdragons, Ichi aside Sawashiro went to jail. Dragons are not dying in fight in this game, Ryuji is fine.
Do we know if Sawashiro has the dragon in 8? I don't remember him ripping his shirt off in 7.
Tattoo symbolism stopped being that important when 3/4 of the final bosses of Yakuza 4 didn't even have one. Only a couple characters actually had kind of symbolic ones afterwards
And I don't care enough to look up what they mean
Some a pretty obvious. I actually think Kido not having a tattoo works as a symbol just as well as if he had one since the whole point was that he was someone who hadn't found his big defining moment until the events of the game played out, so it's like he hadn't truly found what represents him and probably would've had a proper tattoo after the events of the game if he stuck around.
The only rule about the series that's dumb is the notion that Kiryu is a virgin since the original yakuza even in the main story implied Kiryu went to soaplands at some point because Haruka asked if he had ever been to one and he got flustered and awkward about it.
It is not in the games, reddit lied to you.
yokoyama wishes it was. they want us to believe that Kiryu spent his entire life only having a pure love for yumi and that love never faltered and he stayed faithful
Japanese men and women for the most part don't consider prostitutes as infidelity. So Kiryu getting the old rub and tug at a soapland is fine.
He was afraid that haruka would find out about his hostesses dates when Akiyama blackmailing him in Y5 btw
Well yeah. The hostess dates have him sound like he has feelings for them. Plus hostesses through their legalese bullshit aren't prostitutes.
Japanese culture views prostitution as not cheating because it's just a transaction. If it's sex with no feelings attached to it then it's not cheating.

Cute asian girls!
he better voice akiyama
Kiryu has never killed and he's a virgin, the source of his power.
>When you are 30 and still a virgin
He choice of magic is Fistofacemancy
I swear Daidoji is the new Rubber Bullet
> got to the end of yakuza 2, died to ryuji
> game reloaded me with barely 20% of my full health bar
all the bosses in the PS2 yakuza's are such a massive fricking pain in the ass. I beat him by just hitting him twice, stepping back so he whiffed and doing that again 50 times
skill issue unironically
definitly skill issue on my end not realizing exploiting the bad ai is the best tactic by far in every boss because 80% of your moveset just doesn't work
gaiden to me was probably the worst yuhkooza game in a good while but 8 looks like its gonna be the best
