I still can't believe 2 was a Tales of clone, and not even a good one. The Diablo Loot weapons were the stupid part, and without the DLC styles you are basically dealing chip damage all the time.

Not really. Baldur's Gate 3 has dragonborn, which were more popular than tieflings, human with horns, and drow, edgy humans with pointy ears, Wrath of the Righteous has kitsunes, DoS2 has the lizards, TES has khajiit and argonians, etc.

Is Ni No Kuni 2 worth it?

No. The first one is better but the first one also had one of the worst beginnings in gaming. They should of given you fast travel after the first area. Ridiculous
No. The game is a joke unless you play at the hardest difficulty, but if you play at the hardest difficulty the special overworld corrupted bosses eventually become impossible without heavily grinding because they one-shot you and you do chip damage. I had to lower the difficulty on some of the last few because I simply could not kill them and that was after like ten minutes of chipping away at the health and only getting half way through the bar but every other monster died in like three hits on the highest difficulty, it was so stupid.
The game acts like the first one happened but gives next to no explanations of how anything was forgotten yet Ollie and his friends are legends. The people of Ding Dong Dell don't recall any reason why they hate cats/rats but Ding Ding Well still has all their historical stuff yet no one cares for some reason despite living in it. Nazca is somehow gone despite being an entire landmass filled with magicians who created the world. The fairy home island is completely gone and now you have Higgledies instead of fairies for some reason with Lofty even knowing Mr. Drippy in the past yet doesn't seem like he really cares about this. They even forgot how magic works, they just know they can use it.
Evan is easily the worst character in the game yet the entire game focuses around him, while Roland is by far the most interesting part of the game yet is basically nonexistent until you do the first DLC.
The DLC is garbage. First DLC is the postgame dungeon crawling thing but with 100 floors instead of 40 and is primarily used for grinding equips and giving you two styles, one of which is worthless and one of which makes a lot of the game easier and I wish I knew about it earlier because it might have made some of the bosses possible without dropping the difficulty. The second DLC is "'memba Ni no Kuni 1?" and gives you something that would basically answer the entire history of the world but no one cares.
Oh, and the second DLC is also impossible to beat without Evan and the second mage party member abusing the new style unlocked in it. Enemies are +40 your level which means you deal next to no damage but have to beat a bunch of these bosses and enemies in a row in like 20 minutes. The only way to do anything is to abuse the cheesiest damage methods in that DLC. Your other party members are completely worthless and aren't even usable and it makes it so melee combat is completely unviable, the thing that they spent all game forcing you into and making you develop.
It's a generic JRPG with some weird ideas in it.
That's fine enough if you like those, but if you liked Ni No Kuni for speifically being "what if a whimsical Ghibli movie was an RPG" then the sequel is a massive dissapointment. It doesn't have the tone, the musical sense, the cutscenes, the art sense that all combined to make the first game feel so special.
