On that note, what is the gameplay of the Trails series even like?
I have NEVER, not ONCE heard ANYONE discuss the gameplay of a Trails title
I'm not even sure it exists
turn based rpg on isometric grid. you buy or find orb tings that you slot into characters unique slot setups. different combination of orbs results in access to different skills.
you can find equipment for stats or buy them, and you are free to explore and grind mobs if you really wanna. you talk to people and get quests, some progress the story, some quests are hidden and missible and they can lead into the next game, meaning you can miss out on a whole questline between multiple games if youre too lazy to explore.
Pat 2 has a hard mode added years later I think with the steam release that wasnt balanced and can softlock at the first boss (tutorial) if you arent careful and prepare beforehand. i only beat him by abusing the enemy AI and rolling good RNG lol.
some stats and equipment can carry over between games, and theres a feeling of progression still, even though you lose a lot of late game abilities, they become easier to acquire and you get stronger abilities than you could get in the previous game.
i havent played in nearly 2 years so i may be forgetting stuff.
He's probably talking about how Re:Fantazio uses a similar gimmick to Kuro no Kiseki having really shitty action combat to trash low level mooks but also a switch to turn based for enemies that aren't trash encounters.
Never take Kisekitards seriously, they're the biggest shitposters in the JRPG community other than FF tards, the only reason they're not beating FF tards in that is because they're largely outnumbered since nobody gives a shit about Kiseki
You just outed yourself as a non-JP-Kino playing shitposter. Kiseki fans know. Yet you think your highschool drama with magazine cutout collage UI is the best shit ever. That's why Atlas fans get salty in every Falcom thread because nobody talks about Persona on Ganker except the 1 week Reload released and it was trashed on.
>Played Trails in the Sky Trilogy and liked it >Kinda want to continue, but not sure >Cold Steel has been out for years and is at least 50% off these days >"No Anon, you gotta play Trails to Zero/Azure first!" >Those never ever go beyond 25% off
Somehow paying 30 bucks for something I might enjoy but looks dated as frick doesn't seem enticing. Is it worth that much, when I could also play, say, Persona 5 Royale/3 Reloaded for about the same money? Does the "muh 40 quadrillion words translated" really make this a good bargain?
>Persona
Every time.
Btw, you can go back to previous games after starting Cold Steel. It is its own sub-series. References made don't ruin anything, just make you curious to check it out and if you do go back it's just "oh cool, look it's this".
What fascinates JRPG players when it comes to Trails is the fact they're trying for continuous setting building and narrative. JRPGs don't really do that. Despite there being many series out there they just have common themes and shared callbacks to tie them together, like Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy.
kiseki is kamige
is it better than Ys 1-6 though?
Ys 1-6 can hardly be considered JRPGs
But the answer is no anyway
what is a kamige, however?
godly game
oh of course
tl note kami = god, ge = gemu
Yes. Trails is the best series of video games ever created.
Yep! Not that one though, unfortunately!
Trails series seems like a lot of yapping with little gameplay substance
I was surprised that the tutorial was so short

Alright, sounds neat
Maybe I'll play Trails someday
So little gameplay substance that all the modern JRPGs are taking from it.
Haha.
How so anon? Why doesn't anyone talk about the battle system if it's so good?

SC/FC is where you should stop. The rest of the series is not worth it.
what does SC and FC stand for
First/Second Chapter.
>filtered by 3rd
>filtered by kino
They're made for sexist chuds so no, they aren't.
but Ganker said to me that kuro games are woke
LET ME STAYYYYYYYYY

Just pirate them anon
Just pirate Zero/Ao with a translation patch like 99% of the fanbase.

it's an srpg, but front mission did it as well. creator also got to finish his work with fm5.
Why the frick there isn't a switch version on those?
alright Ganker do your job tell me which Trails games are worth playing/emulating no bullshit
none of them, it's a low budget moviegame series for contrarian casuals
Holy shit, do jarpiggies REALLY?
pirate FC and see if you like it
if you like it, play all of them
you mean SC?
SC is the sequel to FC
ohhhh alright gotcha I'll check it thanks anon!
