For me, it was mostly because: >much smoother experience: everything from moving through menus, catching Pokemon, and seamless trasitioning to battles was superior >Overworld catching >Pokemon actually moving making contact when using physical moves
Really just things like that made PLA so much better imo, no need for any fancy gimmicks or new features for me to enjoy the games.
The guys that worked on it worked previously on third versions like BW2 and USUM so yeah they're the B team. Or rather the C team because GF has states explicitly the A team works on original projects.
>Game Freak is best known for Pokémon of course, but is your hope that it can one day be known for more than that with the Gear Project?
Exactly. There are two different production teams here, simply named Production Team 1 and Production Team 2. Team 1 is fully dedicated to Gear Project, while Team 2 is for the Pokémon operation. What that means is that Game Freak is a company is prioritising Gear Project, which is production team number one, more than Pokémon in general.
We are always trying to create something that is equally exciting, or more exciting than Pokémon.
>Yeah we're prioritizing these games >the last Gear Project game, Little Town Hero, had a staggering 15~ people working on it, one of whom wasn't even a regular GF employee
Either their "A Team" is small as frick or he's lying

Gamefreak is small indie company with less than 100 employees
That's always how it is. HGSS and B2W2 were done side teams too.

If it is true then I can easily see it being a morale thing. Having your "A Team" being employees who work on original passion projects will make them feel better than just being an afterthought to everything Pokémon related.
But as far as I know each Gear Project game was made by different groups of employees, the idea behind it is that if someone has an original idea for a game and they can convince management to fund it then they can make it, but they also have to find staff to agree to work on it. So I can't see it being a fixed team.
>less than 100
It was about 150 last I checked
169 as of 2022, and they hire additional temporary staff for large projects.
They have to be contrarians for the sake of it, the reveal trailer explicitly said it, it's not like it was ever supposed to be a secret. Kinda reminds me of an anon who insisted that Unova was based on Hong Kong instead of New York. He got really angry when questioned on it. It would be one thing if this was back before gen V released when that was a genuine theory, but he posted in like 2019. That was after almost a decade's worth of evidence to the contrary up to and including Masuda explicitly saying Unova is based on New York.
Not my home :^)
Why was PLA 100x better than Scat/Vomit despite having a smaller dev team and less development time/budget?
because it had sovl behind it

Is this actually confirmed? It seemed like the "real game" while Scarlet and Violet were cash grabs.

No they haven't, moron.

HGSS was legitimately purely a passion project. Even Ishihara tried to insert his israeliteiness into the Pokéwalker and they told him to frick off.
>no indoor plumbing
Whatever you say, bud
Of the moronic
At least it was until I frick everything up
>There are still morons who think Hisui isn't Sinnoh
that's precisely why it sucks
