yes it was garbage. the game has indie game graphics, a forgettable ost, a moronic plot about culminating with an " I am your father" moment and quite possibly the dumbest and fugliest suit ever. played it once and immediately got rid of this shit
The game punishes 3Dlets who can only think in 2 axes
wrong, wrong.
the game routinely has you get an ability and turn around and come back the way you came. it happens four times in the first region, Chozo Ruins.
I mean... so?
The same thing happens in super, which is widely considered one of the best games ever.
The space station you back track entirely, you back track after missiles/morph ball up the tunnel, you back track after high jump boots and again after kraid.
the couple times it happens in Super there's a stark change, that's the difference. you encounter Ridley and then you escape in a time limit. you get the speedbooster, you use it to escape the rising lava. Metroid Prime fricking sucks shit through a straw making you go back through areas with no changes. >s-so
it fricking blows, Black person. the frick do you mean so? you like shit through a straw?
how is that the only thing that annoys you? what annoys me is how everytime you get an ability you have to backtrack the way you came. that's very not-Super Metroid.
>tfw never beat it
idk why, I got it back when it first launched and then the remaster as well to give it another go. It's more odd because I love the 2d metroids and beat dread like 5 times on each difficulty including dread.
>switchlets playing ALL TIME CLASSICS 25 years later because it finally came out at full price on their favorite plastic box
I fricking hate nu-Nintendogays you guys don’t even understand. When’s the port of Thief coming? Or how about Jazz Jackrabbit? Hopefully LRG ports them PHYSICALLY for $79.99.
Replaying it I see more of its flaws.
The space pirate base area sucks. It's literally going through corridors fighting the same enemies over and over again.
The fetch quest is pointless backtracking busy work and is shit with no fast-travel.
The bosses are either too easy or obnoxious.
2 and 3 have more spectacle and interesting areas.
Playing the remaster I couldn't help but feel that the game was not art at all. The whole solo exploration thing is just... mid...
Samus games really need to grow up.
Running around alone on some unknown planet looking for upgrades just to explore some more and fighting bosses ain't it. Who the heck is the target audience for that?
I hope for 4 they drop this whole lonely exploring of an alien planet thing and finally give us the mature game Samus deserves with an expansive open world, fully fleshed out and diverse characters and cutscenes that tug at the heart strings and really make you think.
Metroid would be pretty fun if they made it a sandbox like you're flying through space and suddenly there's wind turbulence that makes Samus crash land on a strange planet and the crash destroys the ship and your suit and she has to survive on her own. Just imagine a huge open world planet and survival mechanics like you gotta explore for materials to craft stuff to survive with and maybe make it co-op too so you can play with friends. Maybe also add some RPG elements to spice things up.
That would be such a sick fresh take on Metroid games.
This is my thoughts too. Prime is a more immersive game than most other metroids, partly due to the speed, but because of that speed it makes replays feel almost like a chore. It gets to the point where I don't even bother clearing rooms unless I have to. I'll just straight ignore things like the fission metroids unless the door is locked. They take too long to kill.
>Prime is so good that not even contrarians could shit on it.
It's a pretty mediocre FPS and the backtracking is much worse in first person than it would be from a side scroller perspective. Honestly, Unreal was a better FPS with exploration elements and that came out four years before Metroid Prime.
Agreed. The sunken frigate should have had a quick exit if you go their before you can travel all the way through though. And the beam+visor switching was kind of annoyingly mapped
SEVEN
YEARS
Link would be coming out of the Temple of Time by now and still no Prime 4.
Black person I'd rather wait an extra year than the nearly 20 we did to get garbage like dread. be patient
>garbage like dread

Prime 4 will surpass this and any other game that comes out that year, assuming it has PVP.
They juste have to copy metroid hunters online
the level design is bad
You went the wrong way dude.

The only thing that annoys me about the world is that the only way in and out of the snow area is through the lava caves.

Cute opinion but you're wrong.
