just beat this game for the first time ever and now I'm having existential crisis
"now what?"
while I always claim mario 64 to be my favourite (more personal directed), this game makes me quite reconsider it. Atleast it makes me reconsider mario as a whole, I have never played or knew mario world/mushroom kingdoom was this lively and charmful. This game has life holy shit
Did you play the switch remake or snes version?
snes on my ps3
Also I'm not a fan of remakes at all (they are cancer), atleast not the current gen ones - as litlle as I checked, the mario rpg remake seems to be a geniune good one. had it been resident evil or silent hill, mario rpg remake wouod have been a shitty 3d "mario rpg" game with changed gameplay, music, dialogue, story and everything. I care about the music and for what little I heard the remake has amazing remixes

I've heard a lot about PS3 being a good all-in-one for retro. How difficult is the setup? What model did you need? Did you use OtherOS?
Uhh, sorry can't help you on that, my brother is the one who is in charge of it
But yeah ps3 was shit compared to the ps2, but then we learn we could emulate stuff and that changed everything
playing dkc trilogy there felt simply kino
>my brother is the one who is in charge of it
Could you put him on?

It's weird how in almost every game the soundtrack is very rarely considered the bad part. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but even very bad games can still have amazing soundtrack that people listen even if they'd never actually play the game. The composer has to really frick up for people to dislike video game ost, like Resident Evil 1 Director's Cut Dual Shock Edition's soundtrack, but even then some people like it
Lucky for you there's like 10 more mario rpgs to play
the mario world is a great one, but i do think it's best shown in the RPGs
play superstar saga
Not mushroom kingdom
inferior
Just beat it last week after playing it nearly life long. Did you notice Geno is evil in Super Mario RPG. His intention isn't to save the Star Road for repair but to act as controlled opposition for Smithy to collect all seven stars. Geno likely also went rogue and wanted to usurp Smithy but his initial dispatch was him. In the post game of SMRPG, almost every new wish on Star Road is for the villains of the map who all become beefier and stronger. And despite not having the seventh star in thr post game, the Road is suddenly magically fixed for wishes.
Geno was evil and you accidentally ruin the whole Mario universe by aiding him in the hunt for the seven stars
You'll have to provide screenshot evidence to support this audacious claim.
Not gonna say "Geno is evil" but something like "the Star Road gets corrupted" is pretty close to my idea of a direct sequel to Super Mario RPG, and I have a pretty good idea of how it might feasibly happen. I'd assume that the remake's post-game is non-canon, but would nonetheless provide a window into that story concept.
Speaking of remake changes, i have some head canonish thoughts that the remake is a sequel of sorts. In the final fight of the snes version, there are hundreds of back up Smithy copies. In the remake, they are all destroyed. Every person who played Mario RPG on snes was destroying 1 copy of Smithy in a parallel universe. Now with the remake, all of those copies have been destroyed and its just this one left.
I have loads of nostalgic and..."meta" reasons for loving SMRPG but yeah there's some thing really special about this game. None of the other Mario RPG games outside of TTYD hit the same notes for me.
Mario RPG, Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga and TTYD are probably the three most glorious Mario RPGs to ever exist.
Not retro, but i really like how batshit Bowser's Inside Story gets by the ending of it. Just wish it spent more time being fleshed out everywhere else.
BIS is cool, but nothing beats the first installment of MLSS
Oh i agree, but i would say 3 is probably 2nd best of the 5. I will forever love the devs for bringing Fawful back as the main villain.
Yeah, Cackletta was an excellent waifu and so were Queen Bean and Bowletta.
The remake is OK but you're not missing much by not playing it.
Why the frick are you playing old SNES games?! At least play the better remake first.
