Just bought Marvel's Avengers the Definitive Edition for 6 dollars off Steam and it's really not that bad of a game? It's a fun beat em up game with RPG elements like Destiny. I really don't see anything wrong here. I'm sure the launch was atrocious though but it seems like it's fixed? If you're not even an MCU fan just skip it.
I'd buy it for that price if they weren't closing the servers soon.
The servers are peer to peer. They're not shutting down on Steam. The console versions are relying on the consoles servers or whatever

The war table missions and I think there’s a raid mission too. To be honest there aren’t a lot. But I enjoy the missions regardless. I guess it scratches that repetitive itch for me.

No. It's getting delisted Sept 30th of this year. Online for consoles will still work because of console servers. Steam will use P2P direct connection for multiplayer. Definitive Edition has all cosmetics for free.

The game has same 6 or so dungeons it recycles at infinity.
Game-play is repetitive as frick. And the game takes forever to grind (Lucky you can use cheat engine to skip the grind and you wont even get banned because the game doesn't actually run on servers as everything is client side even events you can pick which event you want to do by adjusting windows clock.)
I really hope a modding scene will grow from this. But I don't think so.
I played the beta and outside of temps I didn't really have that much of a problem with it. Black Widow felt like a MvC combo machine and that was great, but I know I never would have bought it if I didn't get it for dirt cheap as well.

I think there was a few reasons why it failed. I'll state the obvious. For it being live service littered with microtransactions turned off a lot of people. On top of that the game was so fricking buggy and ran like shit.
If they would have stripped away the multiplayer live service shit and just focus on the single player campaign and released it before Endgame they would have made a profit. But since they released it after Endgame peoples interest in the MCU kinda diminished at that point so the hype for it really wasn't there. Didn't help the game was a buggy piece of shit.
But it's fixed now and I think it's so worth it for only 6 dollars if you're a Marvel fan

Sad we didn't get Ant Man or War Machine. It's the worst super hero game I've ever seen though, combat aside. Trying to actually emulate the MCU was it's fatal mistake. Video games should be packed with villains like Spider-Man was.
