You'll always stay poor thinking like that.
Your rent might only be 500 a month for all I care, but you pay that every month.
A good gpu should last even enthusiasts a couple years.
Meaning that OH SO EXPENSIVE GPU of 1k is actually only $42 a month, not even a tenth of your rent
By the way you'll have paid landlord shekelstein 12k over those years
>You'll always stay poor thinking like that.
Yeah, if you don't buy toys outside of your budget, thinking they're some kind of investment, you're always going to stay poor!
Buy more shit you can't afford, you gotta spend money to make money!
>By the way you'll have paid Landlord shekelstein 12k over those years
i pay 400€ a month in rent, split with a flatmate. because i know the landlord, i pay an undermarket price, this place would go for 550-600€a month
if i wanted to buy an equivalent place, the average 50m2 apartment costs ~200.000€ in my city(so not a total shithole that you'd have to invest another 50-100k in)
10% downpayment and i'd still have to pay ~910€ a month for 30 years to afford a place like that. i only make 1200€, which is about 20% over the median salary in my country
>>b-but I worked all day at walmart talking to people and moving boxes 🙁 >lmao
Not him but you have no idea how draining menial, repetitive work processes or working with people, customers (retail/gastronomy) are
I don't know how to describe it but it just fricks you up in a different way that hard labor does. You get a tiredness that doesn't get fixed by rest
>be me >work as night shift hotel receptionist >see maybe 1-3 people at night passing by, check-in and check-out >90% of job involves fiddling with PC, printing random shit and following a small checklist of stuff I get done in 2 to 3 hours >rest of the shift is spent shitposting on Ganker, playing on a handheld and sleeping in the back office when I feel like it >have to get up only when the fire alarm breaks out (it never did)
>Black folk tells me to exercise
I run 5/3/1 four times a week. I bench more than you.
are you planing to work at a steel mill or sulfur mines? otherwise you have no reason to be drained when you get back home
>b-but I worked all day at walmart talking to people and moving boxes 🙁
lmao
you have never worked an office job a day in your life and it shows. Just because you're a moron who's only mentally capable of manning a cash desk doesn't mean everyone else online is the same.
office bros can back me up on this, when you're home you only have the mental capacity to shitpost or watch a TV show
>Black person, are you aware how bad things are?
Yes it's fricking bad BUT there are always basic b***h jobs like customer service, retail, warehousing etc that are always looking for people because of the high turnover rates.
having a job doesnt mean you arent being taken advantage of. Money holds value and companies are hoping for good pay pigs like you to buy all the overpriced shit
>Everyday people are buying multi million dollar houses and cars for >$80000 en masse.
I think you mean people are signing predatory bank loans for those things.
If you're not GPU bound in the games you want to play right now, you might as well wait. This generation of video cards is just really uninteresting for the most part.
My 3070 struggles to run RDR2 at 1440p 60fps at high settings (let alone ultra), I have to either lower resolution to 1080p or reduce some settings to medium.
Nvidia said it themselves, they moved on from being a GPU producer to an AI company. They no longer care about satisfying poor or budget oriented customers that have more common sense than money. Every chip they sell for discrete GPUs is a chip they could sell as an AI solution in their H100 platforms rented to corporations from 2 dollars an hour. That's 48 dollars a day, 1440 dollars a month, 17280 dollars a year. When you look at these numbers you begin to understand why they don't give a frick about casual consumers
ah yes look at all those people scrambling for these hot ai products OH WAIT
Shitvidia is going bankrupt as soon as their investors realise ai is a niche product
this is cope on the level of saying the internet will never take off. ai is here to stay and Nvidia is one of the companies investing most into that technology. in all likelihood they'll either get out of the consumer GPU business altogether or continue releasing cards with middling performance increases for frick you prices. they are already well beyond caring whether their consumer GPUs sell or not.
I'd love to get my hands on a 4070TI super for the 16gigs of ram, but frick me though, the prices in europe are going to suck, maybe i should just get the 4070 super.
PC just can't compete when it comes to the value of consoles because of the like of market segmentation. There is no gaming only solution for gpus so everyone has to pay professional prices whether they use it to make money or not.
being a mindless consumer that owns lots of overpriced plastic toys might show off that you have disposable income right now, but it also shows that you don't have the foresight to make good financial decisions to ever get into a position where your money can work for you. Those plastic dolls don't create compounding interest for you.
Poor people shouldnt be allowed to voice their unwashed opinions on eveeything because a) no one cares and b) no one likes being around a seether. Go die in your trailer and leave us humans to enjoy life
>thinking about getting a new computer >family decides to give me a new one for christmas so i don't waste money >it's a lenovo ideapad 1 15 which has barely any memory or storage
is getting a better ssd and ddr for upgrading even worth it or am i just better off getting something else
will do, thanks.
got any suggestions for a powerful but moderately cheap laptop? nothing big just something that can reliably run dolphin with no slowdown. i'd like a PC but my house is a bit too cramped for that.
ideapads won't play any games that aren't 20 years old but they are still excellent reliable laptops. Hook it up to a tv and use it for Netflix, pirated movies and emulators.
I'm using a Lenovo Ideapad 5 14, got it about three years ago and still use it for basic vidya.
TF2, MMOs, Civ, it runs games I like to play well enough, usually keeps to 60 fps.
But the other anon was right, these are flimsy pieces of shit, I had to replace the keyboard after just a few months, and I discovered they're purposefully designed to be basically impossible to repair/replace (plastic soldered components, requires removing EVERYTHING to access the keyboard), even pros I asked refused to do the job. And I saw why they refused, hours of blood, sweat, and tears went into fixing that myself (literally, cut my fricking hands up prying the jagged metal components out)
I'm a weirdo who likes laptop gaming but like hell am I getting another Lenovo.
The Legion ones are made to swap out or add some components, and are the "gaming" ones., but I've heard to avoid the Slim varient. They're also quite expensive brand new, so get refurbished. I'm using a Legion 7 AMD version and I was playing the Tribes 3 playtest at stable 60fps.
Nothing will beat a desktop; especially for fan noise, but I needed a new laptop to replace my 10yr old one so here I am.
For 5 bucks a month, Nvidia will rent you high-end cloud based computers that run and stream games for you.
As long as you have first world internet you get to run Cyberpunk 2077 at full specs on a $300 laptop if you so wish.
The only caveat is you need legal copies of the games you want to run, and there's a 40ms latency (not noticeable).
Not really even with a good 1st world quality internet and wired connection and all that I still get input lag in most online games for some weird ass reason the shitter from a third world country is having a blast with 0 input lag and mis-inputs even though have red bars for connection.
> Remote play together a fighting game isnide same country. > 0 input lag on my end or their end. > Go online... > Different story for some moronic reason.
>40ms
That's pretty good but who is this for? If you're allowed to buy one month at a time this is honestly pretty cool for traveling. But if i'm travelling somewhere why the frick would I be playing vidyas?
All I want is a 1080 ti replacement that isn't an x070 (bus) compromise GPU, which will absolutely suck at 2560x1600+ with my usual Reshade preferences in everything from ancient to modern games. Nvidia is absolutely doing it's best to ensure that they don't create another Pascal situation, which itself was another G92 situation - cards that just werk even years after launch can absolutely eat-into sales of the gens that come after it, which is why it's only the $1000+ GPU's that come with sensible RAM options, in the decade of fricking 4k of all things being pushed as the new normal before even mid-range cards could handle that kind of framebuffer. Relative to it's debut in 10, we're still just seeing a relatively new era of DX12-only launches, as opposed to dual DX11/DX12 exe's or options
When you price the 16 (formerly 12) GB 4080 in the $1200 range, you basically cover TWO GPU purchases given the specs, so you ding the consumer for the gen he bought now, and the one's he SHOULD'VE bought, but didn't, because he's a greedy frick who tried to get value out of a GPU. That card should be $500-$600 realistically, with the ti being more $800ish, and the 4090 being the exotic $1000+ card, kinda like what the's 8800's started
And no, it's not just Nvidia doing this either, AMD nuked MorePowerTool at the driver level because it defeated their own way of bracketing cards. And speaking of stupid brackets, Nvidia really likes to waste resources on shit that really has no place in the GPU market anymore, not JUST x060/x050 cards either, stupid shit like the 10GB 3080, aka the mining card. Not even as much RAM as a 1080 ti, so useless for the resolutions it probably thinks it's targeting, but great for an ether DAG! Even at the height of it's uselessness after mining was killed, like the rest of the surplus 3000's, barely got a pricecut. What a gay fricking last few generations
What are the chances that people scalp the 4070 TI Super on launch day? I'm under the impression that this generation is dead, but morons have scalped 4000 series GPUs before anyways
Because a good amount of people DIDN'T buy 3000 series GPU'S, Nvidia lost a frickload of money, and instead of fire sales on overstock, they're keeping prices the exact same way, either as punishment for not buying the 3000's at moronic prices, or because Nvidia believes people buying cards at those prices = the new normal, and wants to normalize said moronic prices
Mining being dead also doesn't mean a thing, they'll just assume there's a better mineable crypto on the horizon, like ether was to Litecoin, or Litecoin was to Bitcoin, you GPU isn't making money now, but it MIGHT! So it's priced at hypothetical value as well. Nvidia can also just as easily say they're the only game in town for at-home AI without moronic hoops a la AMD
>1080p @ 60Hz
no >1080p @ 144Hz
yes >1440p @ 60Hz
no >1440p @ 144Hz
yes >4k @ 60Hz
you'd probably decide because I know there's some really niche games that can do this but don't even think about it with newer titles just upgrade >4K @ 144Hz
why are you even asking
none of these including goytracing or DLSS/FG bullshit, just rasterization
wait until 50 series next year if you're patient
>some really niche games that can do this but don't even think about it with newer titles just upgrade
I can run Lies of P at 4k 70 fps on a 7800XT.
If you have a 4090 you can easily pull off 100+
Dilemma: I need to upgrade GPU soon, my GPU just really sucks.
5090 seems good and I'm willing to pay $2k.
However, they say it's either late 2024 at earliest to late 2025. That's a long time with a shitty card. At least one year, up to two years.
this is a trick by nvidia to get you to part with your cash now instead of waiting 8 months for the 5000 series which will be vastly superior and reasonably priced, like all odd-numbered series have been.
zoomer detected. it's been nvidia's playbook since the 1000 series. Release a powerful reasonably priced series to keep the public on your side, then release an overpriced series to milk everyone dry. Rinse & repeat.
Who says 8 months? More like 2 years.
They always release a new gen in September and we're due this year. It might end up being a little later but within a year for sure.
>I'm talking about made up thing
Yeah because the 3xxx series was sooooo great.

It was. The RRP for those cards, especially the 3080, was great. Only problem was the scalping, which in itself was an indication of how good the pricing was.
I'm done with the PC gaming industry robbing me blind. I bought a PS5 instead and am not upgrading my PC for at least another 5 years. I got a 3080 on release and it's already become a struggle running games like Alan Wake 2. If they want me to spend >$1k every three years just on the graphics card to be able to play games like that at a decent quality & framerate then they can get fricked.
I don't see the point in getting a new card when it can still run current releases without problems.
Also, energy consumption. My current one will draw something like 140W out of the box. Undervolting brought that down to just a bit over 100 and severely undervolting to almost idle frequency whenever I don't play the newest games brings that down to 80ish, which is very nice.
I doubt newer card are more energy efficient.
Buying something just because you can is not smart. I could buy a new car cash right now, but why would I?
What the frick is wrong with having any of those? Serious question. HDDs still have higher storage capacity, soundcards still improve audio quality even if it's minor, windows 11 will eventually take over from windows 10 and there are people with dozens of DVDs and Blurays they want to use on their computer.
optical and physical media is and always was moronic, but specifically optical media needs to die in a fire, if you can't bother to make nand based storage then you can legitimately eat a bag of dicks and die in the process. Hdd's have slow read times, making most modern games completely unplayable, and not even the highest end single gpu system in the world needs more than 1000w psu. Finally, you absolutely fricking mega moron, if you actually did even the most basic research into the motherboard he chose, you'd realize the soundcard he bought doesn't extend any functionality or grant audiophile rights, it makes no sense even being there.
Your IQ is over 30? That's not something to brag about.

Hey buddy, I don't suddenly come into existence the moment you read my response, I don't have to validate my life story to you, okay? Now go be a Black person somewhere else, because optical media is dogshit. I genuinely hate cd and dvd, I hated all of it. I always thought from the youngest age that nintendo was the only media company that understood the correct storage format. And sd cards didn't take too long to be a thing, and flash drives to me even back then were already superior. Floppy drives were already well and phased out by the time I used computers.

are you fricking moronic?
gpu usage should be 99% ideally, it means its not bottlenecked. Thats literally the IDEAL STATE OF THE FRICKING GRAPHICS CARD
also 60c is absolutely fricking nothing, most modern gpus dont even turn their fans on under 60c
You don't need any of these to play modern games comfortably, unless you're a gigaconsoomer buying a 4k 144 hz ultrawide screen. But if you're buying a screen like that, the price of the card would be nothing to you.
What's the difference between 8gb and 16gb?
A 4060 seems like the "cheapest" decent option for me, but the price difference between 8gb and 16gb is quite insane.
My dude, I'm telling you verbatum that going to mental hospitals is just like serving a mini jail sentence. It takes at best a few weeks of your time, yet massively accelerates the process of being approved. Stop being a moron and take this advice.
Correct.
You will get a government provided PC with locally made garbage electronics that can only run games from 10 years ago at most.
Oh also, there's a waiting list, sorry, you might get one in 20 years. 10 if you're a party member.
I've read comments all over the Internet that they gave up PC gaming as a hobby because of the moronic GPU prices. Is pc-gaming going into another recession again?
I upgraded my rig in 2019 for around ~1k
But I have to admit that I was very lucky >Ryzen 5 3600 released >got a good RX 5700 XT model for ~300€ (I think 100€ for below MSRP) >LG 27GL850 (1440p@144Hz) for 200€
I wish every anon good luck in getting their upgrade for a good price with 0 trouble
I got a 7800XT for 7700XT prices and it was 150$ cheaper than the 4070.
I don't think I could've done better.
Got a 5700X for my old B450 mobo, but CPUs are relatively cheap.
Iunno man, if you're not trying to drive a 4k display or more then 16gb is fine. I think 24gb is really only going to be useful for certain rendering tasks like ai and guassian splatting. But I mean, if you're buying a 1k card, would you not want to future proof? We saw how quickly every 8gb card became worthless, and how even older 12gb cards are holding up thanks to frame gen.
hard to crush the xtx if nvidia can't lower the price of new super rtx to $900 range. do you really think a card that is supposed to be better than 4080 ($1200) will really be priced at $999? that would mean nvidia has to lower the 4080's price to $800 or something. they would never do this
If VRAM gets eaten up by ray tracing and AMD doesn't do ray tracing as good as NVIDIA, then why exactly does it matter that the 7800 XT has 16GB of VRAM?
I'm actually being serious, I need a use case scenario where you cap out on 16GB in 1440p without ray tracing (and unoptimized games but that's a given)
Texture quality is effectively computationally free, but is tied to your vram capacity (and bandwidth). You want those ultra high definition veins on kasumi's breasts in the next dead or alive? That takes memory.
High quality textures have the biggest impact on overall visual quality of a scene until you start turning lighting off.
You can but then it becomes non-interactive and that is verboten these days. Everything must be real time. Game world size also magnifies what needs to be loaded into memory - these giant open world games are sicking down memory and there is no escaping that.
Side note: DirectStorage is designed to get around limited vram next to comparatively massive storage volumes but you need to be able to shunt the data to the gpu fast enough.
I got a 4070 but I might try and snag a cheap 4070 super TI when the 50xx series drops. I have a backup PC with a 1660 super already, probably swap it with the 4070.
Electricity here is about $0.50c per Kwh, i can sell my 3080ti, boxed for about $500 and get a 4070 super for about $100 more, it uses half the power.
If i use my 3080ti about 150 hours a month, its around 50kwh, which is $25, the 4070super is going to be half that in power use, that extra 100 spent on the 4070 super will be saved on electricity alone in 8 months, if i keep it 2 years after that ill save $300 over keeping the 3080ti.
Don't bother with upgrade and UV your GPU instead.
You can lower power consumption by around 30% and lose only around 10% of the performance, well worth it.
Consoles have gone to shit especially if you're into games older than two years. Sad but true.
Potato mashing is only viable at the end of a console generation. When the PS360 released you weren't building a PC capable of matching them for anywhere near the price.
Ah the deflection. Doesn't matter what generation you pick EXCEPT the ps4/xbone (which you could get close to) console hardware has always offered performance at a price that you could not match in the PC space.
>hurr i am a pajeet with a pajeet IP >my job is bagging groceries for $2 >let me make fun of dudes who make more in an hour than my entire family in a day
gays like you have always been a failed abortion victim
i think it was about $599, im curious how well the 4070 super is gonna perform compared to something like a 3080/3080ti/3090, if the 70super comes in at $599 and performs as good as a 3080ti, the efficiency gains in power use alone make is somewhat viable to me purely as a investment to save money once its offset the purchase price in 8 months, im just reluctant to buy because im waiting for a 50 series upgrade.
A directswap for my 3080ti if it performs the same would totally be worth it because of the energy prices where i live in europe. If its that fricking 12 pin connector though i aint touching it for shit.
>im curious how well the 4070 super is gonna perform compared to something like a 3080/3080ti/3090
Supposedly it's just shy of the 4070ti, and my 3080 12gb is just shy of my friend's 4070ti.
>just buy overpriced garbage bro
video card is not important, you can always get a more powerful one as time goes by and new ones come out
I got my 3060 for just 200$ and that's going to be running things just fine for years on end
I said high, not ultra. The hair settings are few and far between and not taxing at all. Raytracing is a meme now, yes.
3080 bros how are we holding up?
12gb 3080. Still doing well at 1440p, but I'm worried about Dragon's Dogma 2.

That’s a smart thing to do, you should only buy what you need
Building a pc used to be cheap. I built a pc for like 800 6 or 7 years ago and only now I can't run AAA games. Now you ha e to spent like 2k on pc. I will just buy deck.
I don't get it. What's the issue? Isn't Ganker full of $10k+ anons? I mean you always make fun of poorgays 24/7. If you have $5k salary in US which is dogshit you still can easily buy it. >but what about my 3k rent?
Just live this parents for 1 month or something. You're family right? Don't tell me they kicked you out of house when you were 16yo because this is what their father did too. .
Honestly neither are really good 4K cards. The 4090 can't do 4K at a good framerate in the most demanding games without DLSS or FSR. There won't be a true 4K card until the 5090.
>When will it be true?
The 5090. The 4090 is almost there, but even something like RE4 can't hold 120fps in the demanding parts of the game, and something like Cyberpunk with ray tracing is a mess without DLSS. Unless the 5090 is somehow only a 15% performance increase, it'll be a proper 4K card.
That's a dev problem, not a card problem. If you start thinking about "at which point will cards be able to handle 4K no matter how incompetent the devs are" you're going to wait for a really long time
A PC lets me do: >all all kinds of video work, stream, etc >actually do real life work >get all kinds of entertainment for free >get all kinds of games for free >emulate games from dozens of consoles >lean new skills such as programing, etc
A console lets you: >play games after your parents buy them, kiddo
There's no point in upgrading unless you're trying to do something with your pc and failing.
My i5+gtx 970 were starting to not hit 60fps at 1080p so I built a new 800$ pc that would. Wouldve upgraded in like 2021 but you know how it was back then. Has a 5600 and 6700xt, hopefully it lasts for 4-5 years. Not upgrading my monitors til one of them fricking dies.
>Not upgrading my monitors til one of them fricking dies.
If you have a really old monitor with poor colors, I would consider a new one. It's quite the visual improvement.
kek fricking Chinks making variations of their Nvidia trash GPUs in desperation someone buys the 4080
also you will never see a 4080 Super for 999€ ever
Only worthwhile GPUs currently are 7800 XT 16GB, 4070 OC maybe 4070 Ti but price is already way to steep and not enough vram
Best choice is still 7900 XTX for 1k with 24GB or all out 4090 everything else is just not worth unless you play at 1080p/60 then you can go for a 4060/Ti, 7700 I guess
>nvidia realizes it fricked up with maxwell and pascal >stops focusing on increasing performance and value, doubles down on stupid software bullshit to artificially retain control of the market and skate by >it works. People would rather buy a 4060ti than an rx 6800, which has double the vram and vastly higher performance for the same price >amd is perfectly fine settling for second banana, doesnt want to risk going to war with a stronger market presence. Uses moronic pricing schemes to upsell gpus and seeks to offer "just slightly better" value. >intel gpus fart and shit and don't really care about fixing compatibility with older games that aren't trending on twitch >intels cpus suck. >amd motherboards are overpriced >ddr5 has issues. Ram is overpriced in general. >anything but shitty chick plus with ketchup and mustard cables are 100 dollars minimum >ssd market was going great but were at the very start of a price increase. Not just for gen 5 but gen 4/3 as well. Hope you bought hard drives by new years. >pc case and cpu cooler market is actually going fantastic, but that definitely doesn't make me feel better.
>amd motherboards are overpriced
Look at the prices of Intel DDR5 boards and tell me those are "fair" priced.
Motherboard manufacturers will rather add another 1000 LEDs than POST code display. But with PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 you need much thicker PCBs, also VRMs are overkill on AM5 you can run every CPU on the cheapest B650 board without any performance loss. >ddr5 has issues. Ram is overpriced in general
RAM is cheaper than ever before what are you smoking? >anything but shitty chick plus with ketchup and mustard cables are 100 dollars minimum
Why the frick do you need custom cables? Everything comes with black cables.
>What do you mean "Jamming more transistors into a smaller area is getting more expensive"??? Clearly Nvidia, AMD and Intel are conspiring with TSMC to keep performance down!
focusing on increasing performance and value, doubles down on stupid software bullshit to artificially retain control of the market and skate by
No, they saw the writing on the wall with the limits of silicon so they innovated in areas beyond raw raster.
>All these parts being released >Got a baby girl on the way >Moving in with my gf soon >Won't have room for a dedicated PC space >Fated to consoles for the rest of my days
I'm actually okay with this. I'm sorry bros.
If you have space for cucksole you have space for PC.
We really don't. A PC requires an entire desk setup. I can plug the Xbox in to the TV in the living room and that's fine. The two bedrooms are for me + gf, the other for the baby, neither has much spare room.
Ganker gets its panties in a twist about it but I recently got a gaming laptop and it was perfectly fine
I don't want to play the newest releases at frickyou4k super ultra quality and don't regret it
also >moving in with gf >having a child with gf >not married
pathetic
Neither of us are particularly religious so we don't really give a shit. I'm catholic but I've never done the sacraments (also conceived my child in non-missionary position), she's protestant so I don't think she even has sacraments to do.
>Won't have room for a dedicated PC space
don’t be poor bro.why just buy a bigger house.
>A PC requires an entire desk setup
It doesn't but it will be even more expensive because you will have to invest into SSF.
You can use Big Picture via steam and only use the controller or you could get pic related as well.

Putting together a full PC with a 4070-ti, 32gb ram, i5-13600k, and 2tb ssd is about $1700, without monitor/keyboard/mouse included. I'm finding prebuilds at the same price with better CPU, less storage.
My current PC's one I've had for around 9 years now, was pretty decent then (970 a little under a year after release). I'm not sure swapping out just the GPU/CPU would be worth it, since I think I'd also need a new power supply, new cooling system, and unsure if my MOBO will fit the new stuff either. And whatever's left, well it's 9+ years of use so feels like the shelf life left has to be relatively short.
Is it even worth getting individual parts instead of a prebuilt now? I'm thoroughly lost on all the metrics for comparison when in all likelihood I'd be playing games at 1920x1080, 60 or 120 fps.
I already have a PS5 for that reason, and have it setup with a friend so that we share libraries and can even play online at the same time. Carrying over the PS4 libraries and having a lot of free upgrades to PS5 versions was nice too.
Still, I like having a desktop pc for some random other games, and my current one's struggling at minimum specs after having done nothing for almost a decade. I want another that I'll also not touch for that long.
It's incremental if you want incremental improvements, but at some point one bottleneck compounds on another and parts require a new power supply, a new mobo to slot into, a new case to fit, a new cooling system to handle. And the remainders you may have saved on aren't going to survive as long as the new ones you got.
Upgrading every 2 "generations" to the XX80 equivalent right when it launches (never upgrade "mid generation") is what I've always been doing and it makes the most sense.
I used to do this, spending around 1k every couple of years was fine for a hobby you enjoy. But not only have these fricking things ballooned in price, I find myself spending less an less time playing games. Perks of getting old I guess
Should I get the regular 4070ti 12gb if I can get it for 400-500$? I'll be using it for mostly 4k 60s gaming. Mostly emulators and older games maybe current year games until the 5000 series, and sell the card for the amount I bought it for. I don't need to ultra all my settings my CPU is already 7800x3d
And that was long time ago. Rockstar change the plan cause they want those shark card shekels

That's more of the reason not to upgrade to 40 super right now.

First of all, it depends on what card you're on right now.
Also, the average lifespan a GPU is 4-5 years, or 2 gens before they become kinda obsolete.
If you get a 4070 now, which is already a year old, you next upgrade is the 6070

My 3080ti can runs any game on 2k ultra 60fps right now anyway.

Anonymous
Well obviously you don't need to upgrade to a 4070 then.
Your upgrade is also the 5-6 series.
Will get the 4070 Ti super, because the 3070 I got 3 years ago is a complete VRAMlet and shits itself in VR.
Euro prices are going to frick me hard though. I fully expect the 4070tiS to hit €1200 over here.
At least my brother will pay €350 for the 3070 as he plays on 1080p TVs, so the purchase will sting less.
Are there any good places that give me alerts for cards being available? Took me 2 months to get a 3070 for "msrp" after it launched.
Get a job
shalom
Then no time for video games.
The people that complain probably have jobs but eat at mcdonalds every day and buy too much snacks and soda.
MSRP for a 4070 Super is higher than my monthly rent
Where do you live? That is not even half my rent.
In a german city (central location), it's like 2 rooms. More than enough if you live alone
I bought a 3090 for retail and my monthly rent+bills is $1k
Where the frick do you live, my rent is 2k a month.
Where the frick do YOU live? Mine is only $1000
good thing you don't rent a gpu. at least not as of now
Renting hardware is a thing of the past, old man.
If anything it's being sold as a service and for PCs they're going to use cloud computing
>By the way you'll have paid Landlord shekelstein 12k over those years
i pay 400€ a month in rent, split with a flatmate. because i know the landlord, i pay an undermarket price, this place would go for 550-600€a month
if i wanted to buy an equivalent place, the average 50m2 apartment costs ~200.000€ in my city(so not a total shithole that you'd have to invest another 50-100k in)
10% downpayment and i'd still have to pay ~910€ a month for 30 years to afford a place like that. i only make 1200€, which is about 20% over the median salary in my country
tell me how am i supposed to afford a home
>rentoid

Not him but you have no idea how draining menial, repetitive work processes or working with people, customers (retail/gastronomy) are
I don't know how to describe it but it just fricks you up in a different way that hard labor does. You get a tiredness that doesn't get fixed by rest
It's obvious you're talking to people who never worked a day in their life
Don't reply to him, it's obviously a teenager who hasn't worked a single day in its life.

Yes it's fricking bad BUT there are always basic b***h jobs like customer service, retail, warehousing etc that are always looking for people because of the high turnover rates.
I have a job, that doesn't mean I want to spend such an absurd amount of my hard earned money.
Then dont complain
Based. Spending an entire months paycheck on a gpu and psu to be able to crank up settings vs buying a console is less and less of a hard choice now
I still don’t make enough to justify that.
having a job doesnt mean you arent being taken advantage of. Money holds value and companies are hoping for good pay pigs like you to buy all the overpriced shit

the 4070TI super is more than enough, and it's under a grand.
what more do you want?
The rest of the PC also costs money
It is not that expensive for a working first worlder. Everyday people are buying multi million dollar houses and cars for >$80000 en masse.
>Everyday people are buying multi million dollar houses and cars for >$80000 en masse.
I think you mean people are signing predatory bank loans for those things.
If you dont own a new car and 4090 at age 25 you are a failure as a man and your chances of having sex are very low
and?
If you have a 4090 you probably have a tiny penis.
RTX 4080 Super now or wait until 5090 in late 2024 or late 2025?
It's your money
Do what you want with it
Just know the 5090 will mog the 4090 which mogs the 4080S
Wait for 2025, check GTA6 PC specs, and base your purchase on that since it'll likely be the gold standard for PC gaming for a while.
GTA6 isn't on PC at launch but ok
Wait. Refreshes arent worth it if you can make do with your current setup. Just give about 9 months or so
you could probably make back a good amount reselling a 4080 Super if you do decide to swap to a 5090 in the future
If you're not GPU bound in the games you want to play right now, you might as well wait. This generation of video cards is just really uninteresting for the most part.
With all this new fancy frame generation crap, you can double your frames regardless if you're cpu-bound or gpu-bound.
wait, the 4000 series is über cucked
Buy now before Xi Jing Pooh causes another chip shortage by invading the real China
even western neets can afford those
Buy a decent GPU of the previous generation and enjoy all games available. No need to go for the 4080 unless if you play on 4K
what games are worth getting a high end gpu for?
cs2
Dragon's Dogma 2
>GTX 1070 minimum
nah
>7 year old GPU as minimum
Yah
explain how the game being playable with a 7 year old GPU makes it worth upgrading for.
Because 1080/30 isn't playable
>this is what nyidia shills actually believe
totally fine on any other platform.
I have a 7800XT though, but nice try.
Had a 1070 for 6 years before that.
Tetris. You haven't experienced real tetris unless you played it at 9999 fps.
They are only useful for AI upscaling porn to 4k 120Hz
>120Hz

Why?
VR coom
Fair enough, that's beyond my use case.
I bet you don't even download your porn in high quality
Not 4K, no. It's a waste of disk space. There's little discernible difference between 1080p at fullscreen, and a 4K video.
Absolutely not true for movies
Disk space is dirt cheap these days and i would recommend you to try watching 4k porn on a >75" tv
>4k porn
gross
>not watching porn in your 32k 100 square foot holodeck
Darktide and the new monster hunter wilds is my only reason. Darktide at 60 fps is cool but I want to max the settings and fov while I slay heretics
>Spending more than $500 on a gpu.
A 3070 plays almost everything at 1440p max settings at well over 60 fps.
My 3070 struggles to run RDR2 at 1440p 60fps at high settings (let alone ultra), I have to either lower resolution to 1080p or reduce some settings to medium.
How? my 2070s can run rdr2 mostly on ultra 1440p 60 fps just fine.
No it can't, liar
Works on my machine. I just turn those gpu-heavy like msaa and grass texture to low
You are not meant to run MSAA with DLSS/FSR anyway. The AI sampling already does good enough job with anti-aliasing
i have an RTX 3070 and i'm around 55-60fps in cities at 1440p ultra (up to 75 out of cities), easily over 60fps when i go down to high
>A 3070 plays almost everything at 1440p max settings at well over 60 fps.
lies. consider performance once the 8gbs of vram are up.
If your gpu mogs the current consoles you don't need any of this
>600 bucks for a 12 GB VRAM GPU
Do Nvidia customers really?
Your comment made me buy more Nvidia stocks
this is cope on the level of saying the internet will never take off. ai is here to stay and Nvidia is one of the companies investing most into that technology. in all likelihood they'll either get out of the consumer GPU business altogether or continue releasing cards with middling performance increases for frick you prices. they are already well beyond caring whether their consumer GPUs sell or not.
Discrete gpu has no future
I'd love to get my hands on a 4070TI super for the 16gigs of ram, but frick me though, the prices in europe are going to suck, maybe i should just get the 4070 super.
I already have a good internet conection. Next rig is a deck 2 and some streaming service for the most demanding games
I bought this for $500 in Dec 2022
>3700x with a 3080

>1080p@75hz
NOOOOOOO
I upscale most of my shit to 4k or 1440p, it's just the browsing that I do in native
Huh? A 3080 itself is like 1000€
PC just can't compete when it comes to the value of consoles because of the like of market segmentation. There is no gaming only solution for gpus so everyone has to pay professional prices whether they use it to make money or not.
Just don't be poor.
That figure would be perfect if it had piss stains.
>just don't be poor.
>pic has a chink gpu in the background
I think that's what you call reflecting, anon.
Not him but Palit/Gainward is one of the few good chink brand. They have great warranty score and they sell the most GPU's in the AIB markert
>don't be poor
>no custom cables
being a mindless consumer that owns lots of overpriced plastic toys might show off that you have disposable income right now, but it also shows that you don't have the foresight to make good financial decisions to ever get into a position where your money can work for you. Those plastic dolls don't create compounding interest for you.
I literally bought my hous with cash and have arounf 24k euros in cash and another 9k in my bank account and I'm not even 30.

How the frick is a 4080 Super going to be $1000 when the 4080 is still $1000?
They can lie about the msrp all they want as long as they sell three or so of them a week at that price as a token gesture.
MSRP for reference card is $999
Gayming Edition Triple SuckNBlow Fan RGB OC 420 cards will be $1499

Lenovo laptop builds are so dogshit flimsy. Sell it and get a proper PC dude
will do, thanks.
got any suggestions for a powerful but moderately cheap laptop? nothing big just something that can reliably run dolphin with no slowdown. i'd like a PC but my house is a bit too cramped for that.
Avoid MSI. Trash build quality and feel cheap.
ideapads won't play any games that aren't 20 years old but they are still excellent reliable laptops.
Fix that moronic power connector and I'll consider it.
What do you need a 4080 for? That's overkill for playing anything unless you're willfully sinking tons of extra cash into meme resolutions.
People buy this shit and then just play lol or CS on steam lmao.
I'll stick with my 4070 Ti, thanks.

THIS SHOULD BE FRICKING CRIMINALIZED, holy frick how do they get away with this???
That's for Geforce Now. Don't be moronic.
RTX is a feature in the graphics card, not every graphics card has RTX capability.
Forcing you to pay monthly for something you paid thousand + taxes on is pretty stinky.
For 5 bucks a month, Nvidia will rent you high-end cloud based computers that run and stream games for you.
As long as you have first world internet you get to run Cyberpunk 2077 at full specs on a $300 laptop if you so wish.
The only caveat is you need legal copies of the games you want to run, and there's a 40ms latency (not noticeable).
> stream games for you.
> legal copies of the game they are going to stream for you to play over the cloud with tons of input lag???
This shit makes no sense, they should be providing the whole shit.
It depends on the platform, some provide games, other are just virtual computers
>ton of input lag
Third-worlder issue
Not really even with a good 1st world quality internet and wired connection and all that I still get input lag in most online games for some weird ass reason the shitter from a third world country is having a blast with 0 input lag and mis-inputs even though have red bars for connection.
> Remote play together a fighting game isnide same country.
> 0 input lag on my end or their end.
> Go online...
> Different story for some moronic reason.
Fricking joke of a cope there matey.
>40ms
That's pretty good but who is this for? If you're allowed to buy one month at a time this is honestly pretty cool for traveling. But if i'm travelling somewhere why the frick would I be playing vidyas?
I dont understand
Like, if you're a broke boy just say so
All I want is a 1080 ti replacement that isn't an x070 (bus) compromise GPU, which will absolutely suck at 2560x1600+ with my usual Reshade preferences in everything from ancient to modern games.
I'm under the impression that this generation is dead, but morons have scalped 4000 series GPUs before anyways
https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/alleged-nvidia-rtx-40-series-super-gpu-specs-and-launch-dates-leaked
Big fricking pass
>4080 Super
>not even 20gb of vram
>"""""""$999"""""""
No thanks. You all know no one follows msrp.
Genuine question. What games now are eating that much VRAM?
Shitty unoptimized AAA mess like TLOU and Star Wars.
TLOU got their patch already
It can run on 12GB VRAM now
you need it for vr.
>scalping gpus
for what purpose? mining is dead, there isn't astronomical demand anymore
4090 is still being scalped right now because of the china ban
they don't give a shit about upper mid-range
Staking is dead. No one is going to release a PoW blockchain.
why would i buy gpus from a company no longer interested in graphics?
Just buy AMD
not poor, not a problem
I'm still on my 2060 Super, what even is there nowadays to justify getting a new gen card?
Same. Some games are even made of black magic like Forza Horizon 5. It runs at 90fps for me at 1440p Ultra with Raytracing and DLSS set to quality.
>1080p @ 60Hz
no
>1080p @ 144Hz
yes
>1440p @ 60Hz
no
>1440p @ 144Hz

>4k @ 60Hz
you'd probably decide because I know there's some really niche games that can do this but don't even think about it with newer titles just upgrade
>4K @ 144Hz
why are you even asking
none of these including goytracing or DLSS/FG bullshit, just rasterization
wait until 50 series next year if you're patient
>some really niche games that can do this but don't even think about it with newer titles just upgrade
I can run Lies of P at 4k 70 fps on a 7800XT.
If you have a 4090 you can easily pull off 100+
hated my old 2060 super. what a scam of a card.
you will get the 4070 TI Super and you will be super happy
The 4070 WRX STi does seem like the best """Value""".
In a perfect world that's what the 4070 was to begin with.
>still playing on my gtx 750 ti after 14 years
i will never upgrade because there is no reason to
Ok, poorgay. Keep coping.
you're brown and I'm white, kneel
White people don't own garbage like 750ti.
Keep coping.
>kneel muttoid before is too late, last chance
Who are you quoting?
But yes, that's basically what I meant. Kneel, muttoid poorgay.
>Nooo I only buy NJUDEAAAAAAAAAA GPUUUUs bro
Green morons get the rope.
bros will prices go down when 5000 series comes out?
>go down
Prices will actually go up
lol I wish these were the prices.
Add to that like 50% at least.
Dilemma: I need to upgrade GPU soon, my GPU just really sucks.
5090 seems good and I'm willing to pay $2k.
However, they say it's either late 2024 at earliest to late 2025. That's a long time with a shitty card. At least one year, up to two years.
Get 4070TI super. It's going to be the best card for the price available in a long time
Not him but I wish jeVidia launched with that card instead of "4080 12GB", I would buy it instead of 7900XT but it is what it is.
>not waiting for the 5090
>not waiting for the 6099
You haven't even begun to master the art of VVating
>morons believe the price gonna be at msrp
Add $500 to it and that's an actual market price.
>nvidia
GET HYPE!!!
this is a trick by nvidia to get you to part with your cash now instead of waiting 8 months for the 5000 series which will be vastly superior and reasonably priced, like all odd-numbered series have been.
>vastly superior
Maybe
>reasonably priced
lol
lmao even
zoomer detected. it's been nvidia's playbook since the 1000 series. Release a powerful reasonably priced series to keep the public on your side, then release an overpriced series to milk everyone dry. Rinse & repeat.
They always release a new gen in September and we're due this year. It might end up being a little later but within a year for sure.
>pretend oldgay doesn't remember the 8880GT
Just say 1000 series was your first card, or even worse, you just read about how good the 1080ti is.
i'm talking about how they do business now, not then
>I'm talking about made up thing
Yeah because the 3xxx series was sooooo great.
It was. The RRP for those cards, especially the 3080, was great. Only problem was the scalping, which in itself was an indication of how good the pricing was.
Who says 8 months? More like 2 years.
Nvidia said they might not release the 5xxx series this year because AMD just doesn't put out anything competitive, so they don't need to rush.
>4080 super only has 16gb of vram
Would it have killed Nvidia to at least give us 20gb of vram?
>work 12 hour shifts 6 days a week
>barely make enough to pay rent
>prices just keep going up
totally affordable guys just get a job!
Move out of the city?
I dont live in a big city
If you are not getting livable wage with such hours, you are the fool here. Stop promoting modern day slavery.
I don't even earn much and I can comfortably afford a new computer from a single pay check.
Any 4090 bros just insta buying 5090 when it comes out?
I don't see the point in getting a new card when it can still run current releases without problems.
Also, energy consumption. My current one will draw something like 140W out of the box. Undervolting brought that down to just a bit over 100 and severely undervolting to almost idle frequency whenever I don't play the newest games brings that down to 80ish, which is very nice.
I doubt newer card are more energy efficient.
Buying something just because you can is not smart. I could buy a new car cash right now, but why would I?
FRICK
>all that for a QHD monitor
>intlel
>HDD
>1600w psu
>soundcard
>buying windows 11
>optical drive
What the actual frick is wrong with you, I wish I could harm you in some fashion.
He just went and picked the highest priced parts, it's pretty obvious.
It's not a real build.
What's so bad about an optical drive?
Finally, you absolutely fricking mega moron, if you actually did even the most basic research into the motherboard he chose, you'd realize the soundcard he bought doesn't extend any functionality or grant audiophile rights, it makes no sense even being there.
zoomer
I'm over 30, idiot.
Your IQ is over 30? That's not something to brag about.
I accept your concession.
>grandpa doesn't know anything about tech
Surprise, surprise.
Not an argument, optical media belongs in the trash and so does anyone who defends it.
>hey bro lets design a storage medium the easily scratches if so much as a small speck of dust lands on it and you touched it wrong, time to buy a new copy!
literally only Black folk could defend this shit.
And you expect anyone to believe you lived through the CD and DVD era?
Hey buddy, I don't suddenly come into existence the moment you read my response, I don't have to validate my life story to you, okay? Now go be a Black person somewhere else, because optical media is dogshit. I genuinely hate cd and dvd, I hated all of it. I always thought from the youngest age that nintendo was the only media company that understood the correct storage format. And sd cards didn't take too long to be a thing, and flash drives to me even back then were already superior. Floppy drives were already well and phased out by the time I used computers.
>I'm a tendie
That explains the mental damage.
Basically you were mad something wasn't like how nintendo does it.
I haven't owned a nintendo console since the 3ds, try again mega moron. Keep seething and coping over how physical media is dead and you're literally roping over it. Lmao. I win.
I'm not mad it's dead.
I just don't sperg over about how shit it was, because there wasn't really any viable alternative at the time.
You on the other hand act like you always knew it was bad, aka you're retrospectively looking at it as a zoomer. You exposed yourself.
*t poses*
I VERBATUM ALWAYS BELIEVED IT WAS BAD.
(my iq is 147, my name is sheldon, and I was born in the 90's)
Even scratched discs can be read, and if you use a modicum of care on your discs they will never get scratched. Disc rot is a thing only among Black folk or people behaving like Black folk. I have CDs here that are almost 30 years old and still in excellent condition.
But then again, you have very clearly outed yourself as a dumb zoomer who doesn't know shit about shit, so please have a nice day, loser.
Not reading your post, optical media is dogshit and you won't change my mind. I've won this discussion and accept your concession.
>Not reading your post,
>won this discussion
I understand now, you're like that chicken shitting on the chessboard and acting like it won.
Very well, carry on, peck-brain.
I accept your concession, the world seems to agree with me. Glad your beloved media's era is dead and never coming back. Hope your children have nightmares in their sleep tonight.
>I accept your concession
You don't even know what the expression means you double Black person, else you wouldn't constantly write it like some magic formula that makes you any more right (protip: You're wrong, and you will never be any more right than wrong).
The worst thing is that I don't even think you're a troll. I think you're just a legit low iq zoomer. I really wonder how many young minds Ganker has on its conscience.
not reading your post, I accept your concession.
youre replying to a bot my Black person
Just because I born in a space with a face in a place doesn't make me any less human than you. I even have four functional limbs upon which I can transpose motion of my core being. Don't you?
Physically, maybe, but mentally you're obviously way behind your peers.
>you'd realize the soundcard he bought doesn't extend any functionality or grant audiophile rights
It absolutely does.
>2300 dollar motherboard
Never have I ever seen a mobo that expensive? What exactly does it do that a $400 mobo can't do?
>192gb of ram
for what purpose
I want to play Minecraft with one mod.
Dabbing on poorgays
>Australia be like
>what are you poor?
>just get a job
>feels good earning $200k+
Doing what? Sucking dicks?
I thought that the prices of GPUs would go down since covid and this cryptomeme is over.
>people willing to pay 1600$ for cards
>"""lower""" price to only 1200$
>oh wow what a bargain!
People are moronic with a short memory.
Anyone with half a brain expected Nvidia to keep the high prices and I can't blame them, because morons keep buying them.
I DONT WANT TO BUY BUT I HAVE NO CHOICES
>steam new game comes out
>EA
>Unity
>all low settings
>90% GPU usage, temp skyrockets to 60
>uninstall, delete, refund
>steam new game comes out
>EA
>Unity
>all low settings
>90% GPU usage, temp skyrockets to 60
>uninstall, delete, refund
>repeat
ITS FRICKING TIRING MAN
>90% GPU usage, temp skyrockets to 60
That's not a bad thing you dumb fricking Black person
Now I am interested in your rationale.
You're supposed to utilize 100% of your GPU, that's why you paid for it.
60C is fricking nothing for electronics.
>gets over 60
>pc bluescreens and shuts down because of overheating
lmao
Stop lying you dumb homosexual.
You need to reach much higher for that to happen.
See that shitty reply?
This is exactly the kind of reply you see on steam to any criticism about optimizations.
I paid for the card, I'm gonna use all of the card.
if you used 100% of your body's strength at all times your muscles would rapidly degrade from the constant strain
>electronics degrade like it's some mechanical device
Every time
oh, you're moronic
>he actually thinks they do
lmao.
They are designed to work within certain temps, 60 is at the lower end.
You can cope all you want but that won't change.
>They are designed to work within certain temps, 60 is at the lower end.
[citation needed]
TJMAX MOTHERFRICKER, DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?
The fact that most gpu fans won't even kick in until the cards start reaching those temps.
The fact that it only starts throttling at like 90.
Seep being moronic though and having a meldtown over temps all the time.
I bet you're one of those morons who thinks that you're going to die from heat stroke if you GPU goes above 20C.
>The fact that most gpu fans won't even kick in until the cards start reaching those temps.
>The fact that it only starts throttling at like 90.
Holy shit you're moronic. Like really, legit, mentally moronic like a microcephalic circus freak.
>no argument
Anyone who responds to this person genuinely thinking they're a real person or being sincere needs to seriously have their head examined. There is no way they're being serious.
No Ganker really is that moronic.
>There is no way they're being serious.
They are. They totally are. That's the problem.
The frequent Ganker too much.
They are serious.
Ganker is full of idiotic corporate bootlickers now
I use 100% of my muscles all the time and my muscle have only grown stronger. Clearly your analogy is terrible.
>Thing that never happened
>WHY DON'T YOU CONSTANTLY REDLINE YOU PAID FOR THAT TORQUE WHY NOT USE IT I ALWAYS DRIVE THROUGH TOWN IN FIRST GEAR
are you fricking moronic?
gpu usage should be 99% ideally, it means its not bottlenecked. Thats literally the IDEAL STATE OF THE FRICKING GRAPHICS CARD
also 60c is absolutely fricking nothing, most modern gpus dont even turn their fans on under 60c
Just go to a prebuilt PC website, see one you like, copy the specs into PCPartPicker, and enjoy saving money by building almost the exact same PC.
16GB allows you to play games
8GB allows you to see how they stutter trying to load textures
>16GB allows you to play games
Shit games, you forgot to add that part.
Ah yeas, the standard cope.
Booooooooooooooring.
I wish I had money but state denies me disability for seeing angels
Go to the mental hospital and build a medical record, they won't deny you after that.
Only option is to be based thief and steal or kms
Frick my world I am a strider among shadows.
My dude, I'm telling you verbatum that going to mental hospitals is just like serving a mini jail sentence. It takes at best a few weeks of your time, yet massively accelerates the process of being approved. Stop being a moron and take this advice.
I just hope the normal cards drop in price a bit.
I'm a turd worlder and gtx 4060 is sold at the equivalent of 600$ here. I hate import duties and the government's insane profiteering schemes.
>the best consumer GPUs ever created are equivalent to a 5 year old console
My gtx 970 (4gb) still plays fine most games at 1080p
*3.5 gb
3.5gb*
Lucky b***h. I had a bad one and had to trash it after 9 months.
you literally do not need a 40 for anything other than memetracing
if we get communism computers will be free for all and you will be able to play all day.
GT 8800 for all.
If we get communism no one will have any computers
Correct.
You will get a government provided PC with locally made garbage electronics that can only run games from 10 years ago at most.
Oh also, there's a waiting list, sorry, you might get one in 20 years. 10 if you're a party member.
okay I'll join the party but I claim all the mage and wizard loot
you wouldn't happen to be poor.. would you anon?
I've read comments all over the Internet that they gave up PC gaming as a hobby because of the moronic GPU prices. Is pc-gaming going into another recession again?
>3060Ti + 5600
how long will my set up last me on 1080p?
Cards usually last 5-6 years until shit becomes unplayable.
why make new gpus with less vram?
this is a joke lmao
lol, didn't they jack up the prices? shit's like $1500 now.
This is as good a place to ask as any.
Is the 3060 12gb 2 fan any good? My brother is offering to let me borrow money to buy one tomorrow.
I upgraded my rig in 2019 for around ~1k
But I have to admit that I was very lucky
>Ryzen 5 3600 released
>got a good RX 5700 XT model for ~300€ (I think 100€ for below MSRP)
>LG 27GL850 (1440p@144Hz) for 200€
I wish every anon good luck in getting their upgrade for a good price with 0 trouble
I got a 7800XT for 7700XT prices and it was 150$ cheaper than the 4070.
I don't think I could've done better.
Got a 5700X for my old B450 mobo, but CPUs are relatively cheap.
>normal 4080 is currently sits at $1.2k minimum
LMAO, no fricking way that they gonna be at those prices.
The 4080 super exists to try and crush the 7900xtx.
it aint crushing shit without 24gb of vram.
You literally need all 24gb for vrchat like a fish needs water, I am not making this shit up.
>VRshit
Is this all anyone wants more vram for. What VIDEO GAMES do I need 24gb for?
Iunno man, if you're not trying to drive a 4k display or more then 16gb is fine. I think 24gb is really only going to be useful for certain rendering tasks like ai and guassian splatting. But I mean, if you're buying a 1k card, would you not want to future proof? We saw how quickly every 8gb card became worthless, and how even older 12gb cards are holding up thanks to frame gen.
hard to crush the xtx if nvidia can't lower the price of new super rtx to $900 range. do you really think a card that is supposed to be better than 4080 ($1200) will really be priced at $999? that would mean nvidia has to lower the 4080's price to $800 or something. they would never do this
The 4080 won't exist alongside the super - the og 4080 supposedly had its production stopped months ago.
Honestly, you can achieve a lot by just baking in lighting to a scene rather than doing it in real time and that's also pretty computationally cheap.
Im actually thinking of getting a next gen console so I can sofa game tbh, sick of sitting at a desk all the time
lol enjoy your nonexistent backwards compatibility
>buy expensive GPU
>mfw using it to generate ai waifus
Same
I got a 4070 but I might try and snag a cheap 4070 super TI when the 50xx series drops.
I dont know what to do.
Don't bother with upgrade and UV your GPU instead.
You can lower power consumption by around 30% and lose only around 10% of the performance, well worth it.
>mustard gays in 2014:
"PCs are better because they're cheaper"
>mustard gays in 2024
"PCs are better even though consoles are cheaper"
Lol
Consoles have gone to shit especially if you're into games older than two years. Sad but true.
Potato mashing is only viable at the end of a console generation. When the PS360 released you weren't building a PC capable of matching them for anywhere near the price.
When the PS360 released they didn't have games worth bothering with
Ah the deflection. Doesn't matter what generation you pick EXCEPT the ps4/xbone (which you could get close to) console hardware has always offered performance at a price that you could not match in the PC space.
Sure if all you want to play is benchmark spreadsheets and not videogames but we're on Ganker so I'm not too surprised
Can your PS5 do this? yeah I thought not. CHECK AND MATE
>all those anons mad for insulting their jobs at walmart
kek, please more (you), they are delicious
FRICK YOU IM GOING TO LET THE CARTS ROLL INTO YOUR CAR
>hurr i am a pajeet with a pajeet IP
>my job is bagging groceries for $2
>let me make fun of dudes who make more in an hour than my entire family in a day
gays like you have always been a failed abortion victim
that was a very sad projection, you okay there Rajesh?
What was 4070 retail price again?
$599 when it came out
i think it was about $599, im curious how well the 4070 super is gonna perform compared to something like a 3080/3080ti/3090, if the 70super comes in at $599 and performs as good as a 3080ti, the efficiency gains in power use alone make is somewhat viable to me purely as a investment to save money once its offset the purchase price in 8 months, im just reluctant to buy because im waiting for a 50 series upgrade.
>I got my 3060 for just 200$ and that's going to be running things just fine for years on end
The 3060 is already falling short on some 1080p stuff.
haven't tested yet but i doubt unless you run the game with all the meme settings + raytracing at once
>with all the meme settings
High settings are not meme settings.
>runs game on ultra super giga gay gamer setting
>nvidia hair shit on
>nvidia realistic scrotum on
>raytracing mode : JUST FRY MY SHIT UP
Gee i wonder why is my is my rig struggling
I said high, not ultra. The hair settings are few and far between and not taxing at all. Raytracing is a meme now, yes.
12gb 3080. Still doing well at 1440p, but I'm worried about Dragon's Dogma 2.
>building a 3k pc to play switch games
Never change Ganker
This is one of the reasons I will probably never build a high end machine. Every time I try to come up with a list of games that actually need those specs I come up empty.
That’s a smart thing to do, you should only buy what you need
Anything a 3060 can't run is a meme setting.
>I got my 3060 for just 200$ and that's going to be running things just fine for years on end
Where the frick? Here the cheapest one is 400 bucks
3080 bros how are we holding up?
What the frick Black personVIDIA? What is Ti Super? Frick you, you morons
Building a pc used to be cheap. I built a pc for like 800 6 or 7 years ago and only now I can't run AAA games. Now you ha e to spent like 2k on pc. I will just buy deck.
>Now you ha e to spent like 2k on pc
no you don't
my pc cost $1.7k and I've already pirated like $10k of games and movies
just emulating a switch game is free $360 (console+game)
So this is just a thread to call people poor and "flex" their PC specs right?
also frick linux(the iphone of OS's)
I don't get it. What's the issue? Isn't Ganker full of $10k+ anons? I mean you always make fun of poorgays 24/7. If you have $5k salary in US which is dogshit you still can easily buy it.
>but what about my 3k rent?
Just live this parents for 1 month or something. You're family right? Don't tell me they kicked you out of house when you were 16yo because this is what their father did too. .
consolegays end up wasting more than that buying $70 (soon to be $80) games
i have i914900k 64gb 6800mhz and good aio
im still waiting for the 4090 delivery
should i cancel and get 4080 super?
is it capable in 4k like the 90?
Honestly neither are really good 4K cards. The 4090 can't do 4K at a good framerate in the most demanding games without DLSS or FSR. There won't be a true 4K card until the 5090.
so are you saying i should just stick to 1440p and get 4080 super?
but....but....
RDR2 MUDDY TEXTURES ON ALL RES EXCEPT 4K
I NEED CRISP IMAGE
Sorry, I don't play Rockstar of David games so I can't comment on that one.
A 4080 super would handle 4k 100ish fps, assuming your cpu can keep up.
>There won't be a true 4K card until the x
I've been hearing this for 3 gens now. When will it be true?
>When will it be true?
The 5090. The 4090 is almost there, but even something like RE4 can't hold 120fps in the demanding parts of the game, and something like Cyberpunk with ray tracing is a mess without DLSS. Unless the 5090 is somehow only a 15% performance increase, it'll be a proper 4K card.
That's a dev problem, not a card problem. If you start thinking about "at which point will cards be able to handle 4K no matter how incompetent the devs are" you're going to wait for a really long time
RE4 is a very well optimized game but the 4090 still can't hold 120 fps in it at 4K.
Keep the 4090 now and get the 5090 when it releases. That's what I'm doing at least.
I might finally update my 980 to the 4080super
A PC lets me do:
>all all kinds of video work, stream, etc
>actually do real life work
>get all kinds of entertainment for free
>get all kinds of games for free
>emulate games from dozens of consoles
>lean new skills such as programing, etc
A console lets you:
>play games after your parents buy them, kiddo
>play games after your parents buy them, kiddo
kids on suicide watch
this is always such a stupid argument. most people have PCs, but that's different from having high-end PCs
you look so stupid every time you do it
I want to sell my pc parts since I got a steam deck
if the steam deck breaks you're fricked
Is there even any point in upgrading now if you've got a 30 series card?
Is there any point in keeping an ancient underpowered GPU when you could get a 4080 or 4090?
Only reason I'd want to upgrade to something like a 4090 would be to mess around with local AI, and 24GB VRAM isn't good enough for that
There's no point in upgrading unless you're trying to do something with your pc and failing.
Nobody, but nobody needs more than 70% srgb coverage.
Buying parts for videogames is a waste of time. You should only upgrade if you’re doing high end post production or 3D modelling
Unless you get the dual usage, it’s plain not worth it. Mods have sucked for years as well, just easy mode shit and coomer stuff
>Not waiting for blackwell
Tell me one single game that i can't run with my 3080 on 2k right now
>wanting to buy a black mans card
holy moly you are a huge sissy
Why are you obsessed with Black person?
He's from South America.
And?
And how does it have anything to do with GPU?
Ask him bro.

>he's from american
Greetings, Jose.
By that logic 40 cards would be a woman (who didn't actually do anything and just copy what Babbage has already been done before) card.
DCS
>Plane simulator
Yawn
Yaw, actually.
I'm going to buy a 7800 XT today.
I have a 3070ti playing at 1440p/60fps.
How long am I good for? t.2021
>8GB
not long
you can at least rely on FSR Frame Generation if you ever run into a game/scenario where you HAVE to use it
you're girlfiendless, and probably live with your mom still. get a job, you can afford it in a month or two you incel cuck loser.
then you can quit and enjoy your 2-3k rig and better graphics/fps and, while still a loser, at least you're GAMING with a big rig boyyyyy
JEWVIDIA marketers really try hard to get people to buy their failing 40 series in this thread huh?
Meanwhile AMDickheads have melting mobos and pretend nothing is wrong lamo.
>AMD out of nowhere
Hi, marketer
Don't get too worked up, you're hitting 150C.
>Assuming i use amd
Still not buying your shitty 40 cards
>I hate nvidia but I still give them thousands of dollars
Cuck mentality.
>Implying i give them 1000 of dollars
LMAO
How many nvidia cards have you owned?
>Moving goalpost
There's no moving. If you've owned two you've given them 1k+ unless you're playing on a Brazil tier setup. 3 is easily 2k+.
>Owning two cards for just playing some game ever
Nice try, marketer
>one card lasts forever
Oh, you're a child. That explains things.
Nice reading comprehension, moron.
Sorry, I only speak English, not whatever broken version you're trying to use to get your point across.
GOOD MORNING SIRS
Does AMD pay well, Dopinder?
SIRS PLASE DO THE NEEDFUL
Mindbroken.
Seethe
Still waiting for that RMA on your 650 board?
>Being this obessed with amd
Mindbroken
>can only repeat things he's read on Ganker
Your English lessons aren't going too well, it seems.
>projecting
>can only repeat things he's read on Ganker
Your English lessons aren't going too well, it seems.
I'll buy whatever most is needed to play yuzu at full speed. What more is there to aspire to?
bought a 4060 for 290 bucks, runs everything and consumes 110 watts.
seems to be a skill issue on your part
Get SUPER fricked israeliteidia
I'm only going to get a 5090 if it is 48GB VRAM.
>but it won't
Nvidia can get fricked, then.
>buying shit as soon as it releases
moron
supers probably won't have issues since they're just binned pre-existing shit
if you mean price yeah you have to be moronic to do that
I'm still riding my 2070 with 0 reasons to upgrade. AAA trash is not worth it.
Be honest bros.... how fricked am I?
Not fricked at all if you're not a graffixgay obsessed with the latest consoleslop ports.
Otherwise, you're raped.
I think I'm gonna shoot for the 4080super fellas
Did they fix their melting 12 pin cables yet?
No and we don't discuss that here - it is not allowed in the script.
LMAO, only fix is to add second connector.
12VHPWR is just moronic, it's the same or worse than pulling 600W through 2x8Pin PCI-E.
Its a feature
Is there any legit reasons as to why it should cost so much?
It used to cost more and people still bought it lol
My GTX 1660ti has been able to run EVERY SINGLE NEW GAME perfectly fine with 0 issues. You don't need these new GPU's
Which VNs were you "playing"?
>those prices
>Super TI
>TI Super
kek fricking Chinks making variations of their Nvidia trash GPUs in desperation someone buys the 4080
also you will never see a 4080 Super for 999€ ever
Only worthwhile GPUs currently are 7800 XT 16GB, 4070 OC maybe 4070 Ti but price is already way to steep and not enough vram
Best choice is still 7900 XTX for 1k with 24GB or all out 4090 everything else is just not worth unless you play at 1080p/60 then you can go for a 4060/Ti, 7700 I guess
>can still play just fine with a 1080
PCs are a litmus test/moron filter
PCs stopped being moron filter long time ago.
DD2 won't run fine on it. The 1080's reign is over.
I see a 3060 ti with two previous owners for 350€, one of the cheapest cards I've seen so far
>nvidia realizes it fricked up with maxwell and pascal
>stops focusing on increasing performance and value, doubles down on stupid software bullshit to artificially retain control of the market and skate by
>it works. People would rather buy a 4060ti than an rx 6800, which has double the vram and vastly higher performance for the same price
>amd is perfectly fine settling for second banana, doesnt want to risk going to war with a stronger market presence. Uses moronic pricing schemes to upsell gpus and seeks to offer "just slightly better" value.
>intel gpus fart and shit and don't really care about fixing compatibility with older games that aren't trending on twitch
>intels cpus suck.
>amd motherboards are overpriced
>ddr5 has issues. Ram is overpriced in general.
>anything but shitty chick plus with ketchup and mustard cables are 100 dollars minimum
>ssd market was going great but were at the very start of a price increase. Not just for gen 5 but gen 4/3 as well. Hope you bought hard drives by new years.
>pc case and cpu cooler market is actually going fantastic, but that definitely doesn't make me feel better.
The only winning move is not to upgrade.
I've been trying to find an upgrade for my 1070 for 4 years now, no luck
You haven't tried hard enough
I don't want to support made in China products so basically no new gpus. Used market is basically non existent so i haven't been able to.
*Shitty chink psus
>amd motherboards are overpriced
I did, beginning of last year, 7900xt + 5800X3D.
Will last me a good 5 years or more for 1440p
No thanks. I'll wait for Intel Battlemage GPUs to drop. With a third player in the GPU game I will never pay triple for Nvidia trash.
the 3x series is just fine for most and they aren't that expensive now
Still much more than their counterparts 7 years ago
I just bought a Legion laptop since I travel a lot due to work, it's been nice so for. What's there to upgrade for? AAA games are all shit.
I built a PC that plays everything I actually care about under the price of that second card. Stop being a shitter.
>All these parts being released
>Got a baby girl on the way
>Moving in with my gf soon
>Won't have room for a dedicated PC space
>Fated to consoles for the rest of my days
I'm actually okay with this. I'm sorry bros.
get a gamer laptop or steam deck
This is my most likely option going forward.
We really don't. A PC requires an entire desk setup. I can plug the Xbox in to the TV in the living room and that's fine. The two bedrooms are for me + gf, the other for the baby, neither has much spare room.
Neither of us are particularly religious so we don't really give a shit. I'm catholic but I've never done the sacraments (also conceived my child in non-missionary position), she's protestant so I don't think she even has sacraments to do.
This is the long term goal.
>A PC requires an entire desk setup
It doesn't but it will be even more expensive because you will have to invest into SSF.
You can use Big Picture via steam and only use the controller or you could get pic related as well.
If you have space for cucksole you have space for PC.
Ganker gets its panties in a twist about it but I recently got a gaming laptop and it was perfectly fine
I don't want to play the newest releases at frickyou4k super ultra quality and don't regret it
also
>moving in with gf
>having a child with gf
>not married
pathetic
You're not my bro, normagay.
>Won't have room for a dedicated PC space
don’t be poor bro.why just buy a bigger house.
And with that said you can buy either a series x or ps5 for half that price
I already have a PS5 for that reason, and have it setup with a friend so that we share libraries and can even play online at the same time. Carrying over the PS4 libraries and having a lot of free upgrades to PS5 versions was nice too.
Still, I like having a desktop pc for some random other games, and my current one's struggling at minimum specs after having done nothing for almost a decade. I want another that I'll also not touch for that long.
Wait on the supers. The 4070 super is about as strong as a 4070ti and will be cheapter. Or you can get the 4070 ti super which will be stronger.
>Is it even worth getting individual parts instead of a prebuilt now?
Always.
If prebuild is cheaper than parts alone then they are fricking you over somewhere. It's either PSU, motherboard, coolingcase included or RAM.
Or they get parts cheaper wholesale. During a while in 2020 it was cheaper buying prebuilts instead of a gpu.
>still have a 3080 ti new in box because I would need to do a whole new build
Is the 4080S really that much more powerful than the 4070S to warrant the 400$ higher price?
Why does the cheapo one have super in the name?
They are all refreshes of existing cards
>waah why is the card so cheap
Building a PC is only a huge expense if you’re starting from scratch, once you’ve got one it’s only incremental improvements, if you want.
Doesn't apply with new sockets or ram types
It's incremental if you want incremental improvements, but at some point one bottleneck compounds on another and parts require a new power supply, a new mobo to slot into, a new case to fit, a new cooling system to handle. And the remainders you may have saved on aren't going to survive as long as the new ones you got.
>The price of electronics and computers will decrease as technology advances
-Computer science man 25 years ago
The cost decreased substantially. The price for us must always increase though, that's economics silly goy
Waiting for the 5000 series is probably better, but I'm also desperate to dump AMD... tired of shit upscaling and RT.
i havent played a single game that didnt run fine on my 1070. Games have stagnated for a decade now.
Your personal experience doesn't matter, because you just ignore the games you can't run.
You just ignore unoptimized dogshit not worthy of your time
Yes
>muh optimization meme
like clockwork
The only 2 "demanding" games I've played recently are RE4 and KCD, neither of which would run well on a 1070.
>nvidiots can't stop getting israeliteed
Just buy a 7800xt already homosexual. Its great.
>6800XT refresh
The only reason anyone buys that is because the 4070 is more expensive
>nooo you can't just refresh an old product and make it better and sell it for less!
>NVIDIA SAVE ME FROM MY MONEY!!
So exactly what NVidia is doing right now with the Supers?
Upgrading every 2 "generations" to the XX80 equivalent right when it launches (never upgrade "mid generation") is what I've always been doing and it makes the most sense.
>3700x + 3080 chad who got one on release day
I'll upgrade when the 5080 comes out
I used to do this, spending around 1k every couple of years was fine for a hobby you enjoy. But not only have these fricking things ballooned in price, I find myself spending less an less time playing games. Perks of getting old I guess
Only the 4070ti super looks worth a buy.
>I'll be using it for mostly 4k 60s gaming
I assume you only plan to play old games.
>Buy a cards that will be underpowered when the time GTA 6 comes out
Nah
It's a PS5 game
And it will look like shit on ps5, unlike pc.
It's also not coming to PC for at least 4 years
RDR2 came on pc only 1 year after console release
And GTA5 took 2 years
And that was long time ago. Rockstar change the plan cause they want those shark card shekels
You're coping
>no argument
I accept your concession
See you in 4 years lmao.
The PC port is not coming before the PS6, so they can sell it twice to consoletards again.
Took me 2 months to get a 3070 for "msrp" after it launched.
im not poor but i refuse to buy a new pc because there is simply no games to play that need a high end gpu
prove me wrong
im still using my 1080ti
until there is a game that i want to play that needs a better gpu i simply wont upgrade
how much will the 7800 XT drop in price in response?
