It's a good game, I liked it a lot. The gunplay and movement are both very satisfying and there were barely any cutscenes which was a nice change of pace for a Sony exclusive and what was there didn't detract much from the pace of the game and gave just enough breadcrumbs of a story to keep my interest. Probably my GotY in 2021.
Yeah and the usage with the controller is the best I've experienced. Rift Apart and Metro Exodus were also pretty great in that area.
Oh yeah, the haptics felt amazing and using the adaptive triggers as an extra button was a cool feature that I hope more games make use of going forward. But I also think that the haptics were a bit too strong at times, when I played the game for a long period of time my hands could feel a bit numb afterwards. Definitely felt awesome while playing it though.
Even ps exclusive kinda dropped the ball with the features of the dual sense, horizon fw had barely used them and got only used it for the bow

no fromsoft is making a similar game again and again. Besides dark souls, bloodborne and sekiro are all different enough to be worth different games in my opinion. Going from rougelike to metroidvania is very different even if they reuse a few of the assets and similar hyperion world setting.

I played it on ps5, bought the deluxe edition by mistake.
I was interested up until the point they revealed it would be a "roguelike". Meaning just trash scattered around and not explicitly designed to work together. The only reason anyone talks about it is because it was a sony exclusive.
The main reason it a rouglike is because the levels evolve with the plot (but permanently). The more you discover about her the more elements that shouldn't be there start appearing in the world. It's the enemy bullet patterns that are generated not the actual levels only the room sequence changes.
For me, it's the Tachyomatic Carbine with Rising Pitch, Critical Hit and Leech Rounds.

this game was a good example of how insanely casual the majority of the gaming audience is. All I heard about this game going in is that you HAVE to do the WHOLE thing over EVERY time you die. Autosaves every two seconds have ruined people, you hit checkpoints that carry over into subsequent runs like twice a biome, that aspect is absurdly overblown. its just enough progress loss on death that it keeps boss fights a little intense.
That said it was actually a pretty fun game, waay better than like, rift apart and control and a couple other console games people told me were must plays. ultra tight, plays great, runs great, doesn't overstay its welcome. Only game so far I actually wish I bought instead of just renting it from the library.

On release, people weren't mad about the roguelike structure, they were mad that you couldn't pause runs at all and if the game closed, it was gone. Runs can easily be 45+ minutes if you're exploring everything. They added a suspend option in a later patch.
Yeah I was disappointed with rift apart from the reviews I had seen, it was a large step up from the horrendous 2016 remake though.

Your power is like, 85% weapon+mods, 10% artifacts, 5% parasites. Its crazy how different runs are with good weapons with good mods and no artifacts, and bad weapons with a ton of artifacts. I think it has too much win-more in its design, and the artifacts themselves are boring. I'd take like half the consumables and turn them into passive artifacts. Salvage/items isn't that common, and you have limited slots for damage-based ones.
