>just did the continuous 15 stage
Fricking kino. How come we never got another Outrun game? Imagine how beautiful the stages would look.
>just did the continuous 15 stage
Fricking kino. How come we never got another Outrun game? Imagine how beautiful the stages would look.
>How come we never got another Outrun game?
there must be like 10 outrun games
Half of them are like different versions of the same game. We never got a new Outrun after 2006.
maybe that's a good thing. i do not know. maybe we as a species have out runned to need for outrun
But I still wanna go far away. I think that now, more than ever, we all need to show that guy's GF how far we can take her.
I remember Outrun in the arcade. Several decades ago...
>How come we never got another Outrun game?
Nobody bought them because they were seen as "too gamey" and "not realistic".
Everyone was on the Gran Turismo bandwagon. Coz it blew their mind you could adjust the camber on the wheels, like a bunch of overweight boring wankers you see at public car shows.
There's plenty of outrun clones. But what's the point? The game's already perfect
Super night riders (and its vaporware remake)
Buck up and drive
Slipstream
Palm ride
...what else?
I didn't keep score. But Outrun 2 is much more than the indies that keep redoing the first Outrun
>Buck up and drive
That one is actually impressive, for something made with Game Maker. The dev is apparently working on a sequel, too.
Are there actually? None of them must be any good because I've never heard of any outrun clones
Slipstream huh. Eh
None of them are anything close to Outrun 2, that's for sure. In most cases the steering is extremely awkward and the environment is just not interesting, either.
Nice thread here. Is this on pc? I have it on og Xbox still but I want to retire my old consoles that I use for like 4 games.
You can download it at myabandonware or run it through an emulator like PCSX2.
Continuous 15 is an amazing way to experience OutRun 2. It's so good.
Milky Way, Casino, and Forest are probably my top 3 maps.
>Casino
Fricking LOVE this one. Probably in my top 3 OutRun 2 stages.
>Forest
That's the one that has that one big tree that you can drive through a hole in its trunk, right? That stage is cool too.
which outrun is this? looks comfy right about now
OutRun 2, but I forget specifically which version. There's SP, there's Coast to Coast, there's 2006, etc. One of them. Been ages since I last played so I don't even remember what're the differences.
cheers
oh nvm its 2006. how are u guys playing it? emulator?
I love outrun but I'm fine going back to the old games when I want my fix. Closest thing to it, though still old and different, is the psp ridge racer game. I'm very happy with the current Gran Turismo but wish we had a good arcade racer to rely on as well.
I have the native PC port on steam, would probably be easier and smoother than emulation
Look up Outrun 2 FXT
Steam version is best
outrun 2006 is indeed good and fun and I would buy a sequel. If you have a round 1 available to you there is an AC update to 2006 that people still play. This thread is all moronic zoomers.
I'm 40
For me it's
why the frick would you play a fake drifting game like this one over something like carx
Outrun's visuals and sound design sell the game
Cuz they offer no challenge and have a pointless timer
Ferrari doesn't care anymore.
It's more like they care so much that they've become super autistic about how their cars are represented.
>Turn 10 literally had to remove content from their game because the Ferrari lawyers were seething
this is why i prefer lamborghini
Outrun C2C on an OLED is something extra special.
I'm jealous.
This looks like those ADHD mobile phone games for zoomers
name 3
Asphalt 1-3.
That's because it is. It's an arcade game from 2003. Peak zoomer era.
Oldest zoomers were still toddlers and toddlers didn't play games in those days.
I'm a zoomer and I was 9 in 2003. I definitely played the arcade games in the mall.
hate to break the bad news to you but you are a late-millenial.
>instead of being in the braindead iphone generation I'm in the generation that ruined the world with avacado toast
Oh no!
don't worry anon, I'm right in the middle just like you. 95 gang. a man without a country.
>I'm a zoomer and I was 9 in 2003
>born in 1994
>zoomer
no you're not, earliest zoomer birth year is 1997, you are a late millennial
Zoomers were 5-7 in 2003. That's old enough to play vidya.
exceptionnal game, i'm glad some people in this board are still playing real games
Its one of the shortest racing games.
You got Slipstream which was madr by some guy on /vg/
I was just playing this game this week. Just got to the 2nd girlfriend and 2nd set of races. I had made quite a bit of progress on PS2 last year but am just playing on my TV via PCSX2 right now. Bums me out about the tracks and cars you can only purchase with a PSP. OutRunners is probably my favorite OutRun game, but only the arcade version. The Sega Genesis port is poo poo.
There is a work around. You can use gameshark cheats for the PSP exclusive content. I did this to unlock the extra tracks. Worth the effort.
Which version of 2006 Outrun is best? Arcade or home console? Afaik they have some big differences.
I think they are all offering the same thing, more or less. The Xbox version of OutRun 2006 has some bonus courses in it, the PS2 versions runs great on PCSX2, and OutRun 06 has a PC version + that fully-featured mod version too. Lots of good ways to play this game.
the same year sega released sega rally 3 and it feels much better to play
both great games. totally different kinds of racers. OutRun is a driving game.
I liked outrun in Yakuza 0 but it was difficult
>it was difficult
Outrun was meant to be played in an arcade. Went to a barcade that had it and crushed all contenders despite rarely ever being able to get to the end in Yakuza 0.
The steering wheel, pedals, shifter, they all make the game feel so much more natural than a d-pad and triggers.
Oooh, I wish I could experience it in an arcade. One would initially think that it would be easier to play on a dpad since mess movement is required but I don't know
OutRun 2 is very drift-centric but in OutRun and OutRunners, being able to make more gradual adjustments in turning makes a lot of difference, vs a d-pad where it is simply "turn all the way left" vs "turn all the way right". Playing OutRunners in a sit-down cab is god tier, especially when you're playing with someone else and both neck-and-neck, ripping the wheel to the left-right-left-right on a chicane. great game. great cab.
>It's already been 5 years since outrun 2019.
Is there any indication that Sega could be working on a new OutRun or having another studio work on one? I know they had that initiative to make use of their older IPs, I would love to see a randomized OutRun with people dropping in and out of your world.
>I would love to see a randomized OutRun with people dropping in and out of your world.
We don't need more live service shit that becomes unplayable in 5 years.
Unfortunately, that's what all these "revived" IPs Sega is doing are gonna be.
I don't see what difference it makes. Whether the next OutRun game is good, great, terrible, or never happens at all, we'll always have OutRun, OutRunners, and OutRun 2006.
Because it'd be better for them to release a modern sequel that's actually good rather than live service trash.
They can do both dude. I think a single-player-only racing game in 2024 is not a great idea.
Best we might get is OutRun 2 in a future Yakuza game. Would be cool.
I would have liked to see the Hang-On series get the same treatment OutRun did in this game. I love Super Hang-On.
Anyone has a working, non-virus ridden link to get this?
Steam removed the game, fitgirl doesnt have it, other repackers have dead links, the torrents i can find have 1-2 seeders and don't even start downloading
I'd also need some working link for Outrun 2 FXT, cause i found one repack with the game and mod already installed, but the installation gets stuck at around 35% and then fails with only half of the game files installed
forgot to say, both going on the official site for Outrun 2 FXT and using the link on PCGW(which i think also redirects to the official mod site), the download link doesnt work
myabandonware
You don't need a repack for a <1GB game.
thanks
the repack was only cause it included the FXT mod
speaking of which, any working link? the link in the myabandonware page also doesnt work since that one too redirects to the official site
>the link in the myabandonware page also doesnt work since that one too redirects to the official site
I just tried the repack with FXT link and it downloaded just fine
it downloads fine, but it's the same MagiPack repack i already downloaded from the MagiPack site, which is the one where the installation gets stuck and fails
looks good but could use some more shit on the screen.
Outrun but slower
Why doesn't Sega just re-release outrun without the fricking Ferraris
>without the fricking Ferraris
It's iconic. Ferrari IS OutRun. Without Ferrari, it's just another time trial racer.
>tfw no outrun 3 with VR support and steam workshop support so people can add their own girlfriends/cars/stages
Nah, frick you. Outrun's mood and aesthetic are wholly unique. Any stupid sports car would work.
>Any stupid sports car would work.
This. Switch it to a Mazda or something so we can get full scale arcade machines because nobody's willing to sacrifice a Ferrari for that.
Didn't the last known ridge racer full scale get found in a field in england?
>continuous 15 stage
how do you play this? dont think ive ever done it before.
It's in OutRun 2006. It's not unlocked at the start though, you have to earn enough in-game currency to buy it.
nice. thanks anon.
I want to like OutRun2 but drifting is degenerate wankery
It's been a major component of the game since OutRunners.
