Just finished Morrowind for the first time. Dust needs to settle for me to give it a proper rating but I'd say that /vrpg hasn't lied to me about that game. It was gud and worth playing in 2021
What about daggerfall?

Daggerfall is a bloated mess of a game with a main quest that's actually pretty fun and a lot of other shit stuffed in there and it hates you and it's all kind of the same but there are some cool features many of which suck.
Play the unity port because the modding community put a lot of effort into adding content that makes it more fun.
You can frick around forever in Daggerfall, and if you like fricking around it's p cool.
Also game has hot b***hes and full nudity in the inventory screen which makes it better than anything crapped out by AAA rpg companies in the last few years.
It's fun, kinda pointless times. Go bananas.
Judging by your description it seems to suck in the way that I dislike personally. If the main quest is fun I guess I could play for that. It also has like the coolest cover art ever
It has some cool and novel features that haven't been seen since in TES, I'd recommend playing Daggerfall just for that, but not necessarily finishing the game. Main quest is ok but brought down by the huge amount of massive mazes at every turn. Everything's a goddamn maze in Daggerfall. And they're not the simple kind you can solve by hugging a wall.
If you love mazes like a khajiit loves moon sugar, though, you'll cream.
The main quest dungeons aren't terrible. It's the other ones that will kill you.
The advice to focus on the main quest is well founded. You can get burnt out doing the side stuff and the mainquest is easily the best part of Daggerfall.
Also the advice to play Daggerfall Unity is also good. Daggerfall Unity is similar but not the exact same and generally better, although don't mix them up. When most people on Ganker say they like daggerfall they mean daggerfall unity. Original Daggerfall is an insanely buggy mess.
Enjoy reading the REAL Real Barenziah, complete with graphic rape scene
It was so unsurprising to learn that it was written by a ~~*woman*~~.
Ahhhhh, of course it was. I didn't know this.
Bahahahaha unsurprising.
I did come across a copy of that in Morrowind on my current playthrough, with the censored passage (on order of the imperial temple). Wasn't sure if there was an uncensored copy somewhere in the game, like maybe Crassius Curio had it?
Patiently waiting for 3d models. combat overhauls (ambidextrous module is promising) and dungeon overhauls that make it more interesting.
The ambidextrous module is already amazing, I downloaded it from the DFU forums.
Morrowind is a downgrade and a cope.
Daggerfall had better aesthetics and ambiance then 3-5. It was an honest old school rpg and didn't pan. Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are watered down console trash unworthy of the name Elder Scrolls
Daggerfall is just an ultima knockoff.
It's not, Ultima Underworld plays very differently from Daggerfall.
The comment you responded to was so moronic that the poster didn't deserve a (you)
I have nothing better to do, and there's no LGS threads on the catalog anywhere.
There is something about Daggerfall that looks scary and feels unsettling. I am not talking about the cover art.
This, the game has a sinister digital life of its own, as if it was possessed by a cyber demon that manifests through randomly-generated code and there's secrets buried deep inside the dungeons that no one has ever seen
Todd's watered-down vanilla console trash never lived up to the creepy, mysterious ambiance of daggerfall
Daggerfall Unity is really good, there are some good guides out there for downloading it.
Download some mods and change your settings in the Persistent data path (below) and make sure you have small dungeons on.

Doing the above will ease the problems with the game that most people have. What Daggerfall is good for:
>Competes with Morrowind for the best mage experience in the Elderscrolls series
>Amazing character creation that allows you to create an expressive character that is fun to roleplay as
>Fun main quest, good endings as well
>Books are really interesting to read in-game
>Soundtrack is great
>Difficulty is well implemented
How exactly is Daggerfall better mechanically than a game like Morrowind?
I feel like the gays that praise it now are newbies that never actually played it and only the unity remake.
I played the original a lot, Unity is a breath of fresh air since I can now actually play pure warrior builds and not have to over rely on magic. In regards to mechanics the character creation of Daggerfall is unmatched but it's a prequel and Morrowind is well done so there aren't many mechanics in Daggerfall that Morrowind has done better. They're both great games.
kys, MMOs are a blight on the world
*hasn't
Morrowind improved on a lot
>MMOs are a blight on the world
Good thing that Albion isn't an MMO.
>kys, MMOs are a blight on the world
This is your brain on Daggerfall.
Daggerfall is shit, Albion came out in the same year and is better in every way.
When “the dust settles” you’ll realise MorroFART is an overrated piece of shit.
It’s the New Vegas of The Elder Scrolls series; pretentious, goofy, and just the colour brown.
>It’s the New Vegas of The Elder Scrolls series; pretentious, goofy, and just the colour brown.
And still better than everything that came after.
Play Oblivion rather than fricking rancid shit like Morrowind or Daggerfall.
Oblivion actually has something called gameplay in it.
Do the systems and attributes in Daggerfall actually contribute to improving the game in a meaningful? Or are they just barely working filler?
I'm really trying to understand people's appeal
So, what is the appeal of Daggerfall?
Are there any dynamic features or overarching goal to make interacting with the game’s mechanics have purpose?
Pathesda Bugworks presents Daggerbug.
What a horrible mess. A year after Windows 95, this required DOS, and you could see where random Daggerfall icons would appear in your Windows. At a time where they could have made it in SVGA, they made it in VGA.
One of my few purchasing regrets.
requiring DOS in 1996 was not weird, poser homosexual
Shut up, egghead.
>Daggerbug
It was called "Buggerfall" back in the day.
The Elder Scrolls®: Chapter II - Daggerfall® is not worth your time. It’s a relic of the past, which only those that experienced it at the time of release can get entertainment from it due to nostalgia.
Disregard it.
>being lost in a dungeon for 3 days because the exits are barely distinguishable from the walls
HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT! HALT!
>What about daggerfall?
Daggerfall Unity for convenience and to tp to quest objectives when a quest is broken. It's pretty much built to be a sandbox in the fullest sense with a storyline you can follow in whatever order or even choose to ignore as there is no incentive to do it other than you're buddies with a crazy old man who calls himself emperor. It even has a court system. The vast majority of quests are radiant quests. You could even just spend the whole time just diving in dungeons and retrieving loot. It's your game if you want a huge sandbox rpg.
Do all the different skills really have a meaningful affect on gameplay?
Daggerfall is worth playing with teleport-to-quest-objective cheats on hand for when you get tired of wandering the snapkit dungeons. Don't do it right away, but keep it in a back pocket for when you have had enough. Everything else is perfectly playable but the dungeons can just be suicidally tedious
All this talk about mods but I see nothing other than basic texture replacers.
Wouldn't somebody fix the broken dungeons
There is an option in Daggerfall Unity by default that lets you make the dungeons smaller.
It doesn't fix them though. Quest items can still be glitched, or at least they could the last time I played.
Oh, that kind of fix. Maybe one day.
Yeah, Unity has better handling of it through the console than original Daggerfall but it isn’t perfect. But using the console because the game is bugged is the true Daggerfall experience, with it being the dev recommended way to get through the original game.
