Just finished the 3rd DLC, it's one of the best games I've played in years. And that ending boss was just a chef's kiss.
Also, Nioh thread I guess

1kat is the most stylish weapon in the game, especially with the skills expsnded mod
based sword enjoyers
>when u combo so hard u just fucking die
3 Kat is, swapping between single and dual is the best feeling combat.
but they do the same thing
1kat is for style and cool combos, 2kat is for element application and spamming cherry blossom which does way too much damage for some reason
I'm glad you enjoyed it OP. What weapons did you like the most?
1kat
for me, it's fists. i played 1kat and 2kat a bit through the first two NG's but eventually the utter destruction of fists won out, plus it's more fun to keep your stacks up imo.
>Ippon core
*AHEM*
You didn't beat the game.
I'm even worse now, I use Lightning Gods.
My fav core with katana is the dweller.
Once I get a KI break I pop the ol' reliable and they pickaxe away 3 times at the monstie giving me more than enough time for a fat HAYAI slash.
Gaki are nice too, they make funny sounds when latching unto enemies.
why are you not using flux
Flux deez nuts bitch.
your combos are inefficient and you'll never survive NG+ and beyond
I only play games once, replaying games is cringe.
both Nioh games peak in the NG+ difficulties
you're the cringe one for missing out on a huge chunk of content
Don't care I fought every enemy there was in the game and DLC the rest is probably just recolors.
Each NG+ adds more/different enemies to levels. If you only beat the game once you haven't seen all of the enemies. No, they are not just recolors.
You have any webms of the new enemies? I only did Main Game and DLC on Nioh because Elden Ring and Stranger of Paradise came out.
At how many hours ingame you are able to buy nyotengu avatar?
honestly I couldn't tell you
I hardly ever spent Glory so by the time I started looking I already had enough to buy what I wanted
no idea how far in that was
You need to unlock and beat a hidden side mission in the final DLC, so idk like 50-150 depending on how fast you go through the game.
>mfw i beat the entire game including depths never switching from mid-stance fists and spamming reckless charge
i can't tell if flux is a good mechanic or not
on the one hand it's very fiddly, poorly explained, and once you get use to it then it effectively removed the resource management of ki
on the other hand it lets a decent player do non stop aggression which is F U N
funny enough, there was an interesting dynamic in nioh 1 pvp where people can do a read and actually set back the neutral if you catch them fluxing because you are not defending during it
>on the other hand it lets a decent player do non stop aggression which is F U N
You just answered your own question.
It depends whether you consider the systems all in totality or in isolation.
Flux on its own is a good mechanic. Stamina bar + flux? I don't think so, in totality you just end up with a button tax. I'd have preferred if there was just no stamina mechanics and let me spend my time on the combat and enemies.
I think the only good thing to come out of it is item canceling, and there's other ways to skin that cat.
1kat scales with heart it always has enough ki
nta, but i'm the same way. i don't even use fancy skills aside from haze 2 (because it's /style/ as fuck). in fact my type of combat focuses only on basic square and triangle combos and stance changes. it's very inefficient, makes the fights twice as long and hard but it's fucking worth it and i love it. am i insane?
No. Play to your strengths, and what's most fun for you. Besides I'm sure the game lets you make a build with that gameplay style though, doesn't i?
any play style will work for NG. It's NG+ and beyond where you have to get more intimate with the mechanics
i did notice that very thing with the first game's NG+. i was apparently reaching the limits of my playstyle unless i became a literal god. Mitsunari in particular was like no other boss and forced me to play better than ever before. a frustrating fight but it's clear i needed to move on
not that guy but I only wanna do flux if I actually like the fucking moveset. I fucking HATE MID so much, it's more than MID it's USELESS
For me, it's HIGH+LOW Odachi
>low combo to tiger decapitation or some shit to transition to high
>high combo then end with that twin moons move or that other busted one
>repeat
>EVERYTHING dies
I haven't been able to recreate this with other weapons so I just don't bother most of the time.
ideally you should be moving through all 3 stances as you fight, especially with odachi
Mid's almost never good for anything though, if I do want to use it's probably when I have to do Flux 2 or some shit
well done anon, now do it four more times. don't worry about the underworld for now
Nioh 1 better
Now that Wo Long seems to have been more of a filler game like SoP considering its length I'm hoping that Rise of the Ronin will be proper meaty. From the trailer it seems like the structure is going to be totally different from Nioh though, although some of the combat clips did evoke a lot of Nioh too. I'm looking forward to it.
God i hope
WL feel so fucking bare bone compare to Nioh 2
it's one of my favorite games of all time but after playing it for 400 hours, to completion, including all of the depths, i dont see myself ever playing it again, maybe, it's unlikely, it'd take a major event like a good friend wanting to coop it, I have no friends.
how long did it take you to clear underworld/depths? tempted to reinstall since wo long runs like shit on my pc
can't remember at all, not even a ballpark estimate, it was a while ago
Nioh 3 when?
i don't think they'll do another one, they don't really sell that much considering how much effort they put in, much easier to just make some ass creed japan game
I want to finally do an Axe build. What's a good secondary weapon?
No tonfa or spear since I already did a run with those.
I'm thinking just 1 kat.
Fists so you can punch shit.
The issue is that I heard fists are so good I'm afraid I'll just end up using them the whole time
That is the point, is really fun to just punch everything until they die.
go 3axe
I made 9 of the most attractive Hiddies ever. I might share them one day with you, Ganker.
>the hiddies
See, you retards have no aesthetic understanding. You wander through a park like a dumb, useless child. When i see a character creator liek this? I create the Mona Lisa. not once, but thrice. A dozen times.
You cant into jaws, cant into eyes, cant into lips, cant even pick the right hairstyle, let alone colors.
cap
You are a wizard wolong
>I made 9 of the most attractive Hiddies ever
Lol fuck no
How do I combo with fists? I feel like I can't completely wrap my head around building stacks and keeping them.
the only way to keep stacks is to build more but the more you build the faster it depletes
try and build a skill loadout based on utility (anything with large cancel windows, Opportunist, anything that displaces your hitbox, etc.)
here's an old webm where I was still learning how to build stacks
I think I remember discovering there being some kind of strange rule about Unbroken cancels that went something like this
If the attack string you would cancel OUT OF naturally extents with the BUTTON of the skill you would cancel IN TO then it won't work.
so an example would be: Reckless Charge -> Hold Y skill. This wouldn't work because pressing Y during Reckless Charge already does a move
I hope I'm remembering this correctly and if someone whose played more recently or better understands fists comes by I hope they correct it if its incorrect.
make sure you're always inputting an attack immediately after a skill, so your basic combos should always have an extra input (xyx/yxy etc).
spam one hit actives like archers impact to stack it faster. it falls off very quick at higher stacks so 8-10 is very difficult to keep
and don't forget to use Barrier Talismans to quickly recover all that ki you're gonna be spending
Does the phantom shift have any advantage over Brute? It always seemed to be way more useful to stop the attack rather than parry.
phantom is better for almost everything, it's instant and will negate 100% damage of anything, not just the red stuff.
brute takes ages to wind up (too long for many attacks in the game) and you tank damage during it
It can counter things brute cannot without taking damage
On the downside, brute is the only one that can counter everything
>And that ending boss was just a chef's kiss.
It was a recycled cimmerian king from toukiden anon
>finish nioh 2, enjoy it
>find out I had nioh 1 too but never played it
>it's nowhere near as good as 2
for once a sequel did what a sequel is supposed to do and improved upon the original in basically every way possible
I know it'll never happen, but I seriously want a game like Nioh and Wo Long but set during the Trojan War. Will TN ever go outside of China or Japan?
probably not, they dont seem to be willing to spend resources to research European wars considering previous attempts to have a game set in European settings were not so successful
What's the most stylish weapon in 1?
Spear, ignore 1krap idiots
Nioh1 isn't about style, it's about stacking buffs and doing 1842958572729 damage with Iai on katana
what is the best way to break the game?
>Everyone doing sick combos
>I beat the entire game spamming Triple Threat and Chidori with the spear
Damn........
No one likes Nioh; it's just used as an anti-Soulsborne contrarian weapon.
Cope.
>never finished DLC2 and never played DLC3
When I get a PS5 I will start a new character and do Fists.
Say hi to your mom for me
The loot system in Nioh 1 is filtering me, is Nioh 2’s any better or is it more of the same? I might just skip 1
FILTERED
Glad I can always count on based retard and his non valuable input
F

Once a mission or so:
>Sort by damage
>Pick strongest weapon/armor of your choice
>Donate the rest to shrines
It doesn't matter in NG
hmm id say sell them cause you will need all gold for soul matching
Nioh 2's loot is the same so if you are getting filtered by it in 1 then you aren't really going to feel any different about it in 2.
Just learn to use the options the game gives you in the menus to quickly do what you need to do in the inventory.
unironically, just ignore it - the loot is for ng+ autism only, just instasell everthing
It's the same.
It's slightly better in the sense that every piece of gear has an inherent stat to them instead of being 100% random
Every few levels kill a load of player phantoms for new gear, people usually die near the start of levels with full sets of stuff.
Whatever you do, don't play wo long next. It's as if the soul of the nioh team was drained out of their bodies by some kind of chinese demon.
i feel like rise of ronin is what they're really focus on. wu long just seems like something to help fund their next project
what's the point of the secondary weapon in Nioh?
attacking enemies/bosses
why not attack them with the primary weapon?
why not attack them with the secondary?
because I'm used to the primary's moveset.
Some weapons are good at one thing, others are better at other things. All you're doing is expanding your combat options.
Flash attacks to extend combos and get crazy
To let you fluidly swap between different movesets, if you want.
you can switch to it for a free combo extension, use it to stack a different element/debuff or just access a different moveset. there's also a grace that buffs weapon switching in NG+4
More options and attacks at your disposal.
I have fists for humans and 2kat for yokai if the fists don't cut it
The Tengu's Disciple keeps crashing at the first boss when we play expeditions, any idea why?
>chefs kiss
What enemy and boss is complete bullshit to you? For me it's
>Yasha
>Tsuchigumo
Lighting fags of yomi and the house bitch.
suiki terrify me, i don't even understand what to do except die
>boss
it's gotta be lightning gods of yomi for me, I HATE having to waste a slot for lightning stop so I don't get slowed
>enemy
the tengu on crack they added in DLC3
Yomi is pretty annoying, especially because a majority of her attacks are unblockable.
>I HATE having to waste a slot for lightning stop so I don't get slowed
The Lightning debuff is the one terribly designed thing I hate about Nioh 2. No debuff should completely gut your offensive capability like that. It's so easily applied to you as well, even if you block.
I like booting up Nioh 1 still every now and then. It would be on par as 2 for me if human bosses and those two boss side missions weren't so annoying.
>enemy
Rokurokubi
FUCK these fucking things. they're not difficult they're just cunting annoying.
>enemy
Those crabs, especially in the depths. If they position themselves just right against terrain, it's extremely difficult to hit their weak spot.
>boss
Lightning Gods or Saito Toshimitsu. First is deadly if you take too long, second is bullshit.
Does the DLCs have some nice Soul Cores?
only one i can think of that's good is lightning gods but it's top tier
When's Nioh 3?
Comes out after ninja gaiden 4
And when's Ninja Gaiden 4 coming out?
Its not
>breeze through wo long with ease, 1-shot most bosses
>reinstall nioh 2 as it didn't scratch that itch
>die 6x in the first area to basic mobs
jesus fucking christ this is gonna take some time
Just use spear midstance heavy attacks until you remember how to stop being ass
I'm doing a fresh Nioh 1 save and don't remember if I should bother with the side missions or not. I think an Anon told me it makes the game too easy and is only meant for NG+ or something.
In regard to looting when doing side missions. My bad.
Not really. I mean everything you own will be replaced by NG and DLC drops anyway so doing them is kinda pointless but definitely does not affect difficulty in a huge way.
Also Nioh > Nioh 2
>Also Nioh > Nioh 2
why?
It's more difficult and Wirriam is hot.
>see all the cool nioh 2 webms
>My brain literally just cant handle doing that shit or the inputs in rapid so i just use ninjutsu and guard constantly and other shit to clear the game because i forget the inputs and strings
i feel like an old retard i know that nioh 2 is a masterpiece but i cant extract the essence of it for myself in any true capacity.
Play Ninja Gaiden.
What are your go-to weapons? For me, it's the dual swords and kusarigama.
Sword and Spear. Simple as.
Spear and Tonfas for me
Elemental Tonfas. Don't need anything else. 1 for Fire 1 for Lightning 1 for Water and 1 for Corruption so someone talks to my Hiddy.
I'm surprised I didn't think about just using the same weapons. Hmm...
Got used to it in Monster Hunter making elemental sets. In Nioh I originally tried Tonfas and Odachi for breaks but switching weapons kinda broke the rhythm and I get confused with the controls so I started experimenting on just elemental tonfas with accumulation on charms and tempering break+ on the weapons for ez high stance breaking and there's something calming about methodically breaking enemies defending.
In Nioh 2 I originally wanted to use the SwitchGlaive but same problem. I get confused easily.
I started a new save with spear after completing wo long and finding it totally average. my muscle memory is completely fucked now.
Everyone sucking off Nioh always forgets it takes like 3 hours to start getting usable moves
The fists are so fucking based
>Looping beyond infinity and flux canceled hellfires into more beyond infinities
Its great
For me, it's claws for human enemies, and fists for yokai enemies.
there's a difference between claws and fists?
Fists deal 25% more ki damage
Claws deal 25% more raw damage
there's also the hayabusa secret skill that only claws can use
Mumyo
I’m about to play Nioh for the first time. Is there anything useful I should know going in that the game doesn’t make clear?
Don't play it like Dark Souls.
Don't ignore onmyo the buffs are extremely useful, especially the ki regen and lightning resist charms.
Why is feral BC so god damn flaky?
I dont' care if you don't think it is- I know it is. What I want to know is for others who also know it is, how the hell do you use this thing?
You dash into attacks instead of away from it.
doesnt work, i've literally landed inside the red glow and it doesnt trigger. especialyl against ren doing his seppeku dash.
skill issue
you wouldn't be like this if you would just have sex once
Dash THROUGH the attack you worthless example of a gamer.
Wait you mean like during the active frames of the attack? I don't just have to dash through the red shit?
Yes, you need to make contact with the enemy during the dash, like how brute needs to make contact with the pimp hand. The red glow just indicates they are using a burst attack.
I used brute for like 150 hours and I just had to smack them any time they were red. Now I have to use that cat for amrita on nijitsu and I'm trying to use the feral, and if I use it like brute it never triggered. I guess its because brute works during the wind up but feral doesn't. Thanks anons.
i mean, you literally have a training dojo for you to try out your moves, fucking braindead retard.
SPIKE DIES!
what's the difference between these two 1h swords??
one is curved, the other is straight
enough about my peni answer the question
One points down
The Other points up
Tops a tachi, bottom is an uchikatana. You can tell because the tachi has a more pronounced curvature to its hilt.
Theoretically speaking, without completely removing it, how would you fix burst attacks and burst counters?
bring back the way feral bc worked prerelease, that's all
I don't understand the hate for BC.
It's a braindead mechanic that requires little thought on the player and is a pure reactionary test. no execution or strategy required. All you need to do is react. There is no reason to ever NOT do a BC unless you somehow have run out of yokai meter because you get so many benefits for getting it
but it's fun 🙂
Make BC a property on some attacks and yokai abilities instead of a separate move.
who spearchad here
It's such a damn stylish weapon. I only wish it had maybe a few more skills.
How do i coop picture scrolls
my fren cant join
They have slightly different type of stats, that's it really. They're technically different sword types but share the same moveset. idk the difference between the katanas but it's more noticeable on other weapons like hammers vs axes. one does more hp damage, the other does more ki damage
AMATERATSU
>Aza Nagamasa starts playing
For me? I'm glad you asked, it's
What the fuck was his problem?
I made it to Dream of the Nioh. What should I be looking for to make a farming set? I need to farm skills for everything
finally got all no damage boss titles a while ago. that was quite the challenge.
I LOVE NIOOOOOOOOOOOOH
But seriously there isn't much to talk about.
