It was great, people are right when they say the devs really understood how to make a Souls game
They need to hire a new level artist though. In a Souls game, you're supposed to have moments of beauty, stunning vistas, and impressive enemies that make you long to see the world in a non-decayed state
This game is nothing but sewers, slums, and tiny corridors, where shitloads of zombies jump out of every wall and go REEEEEEEEEEEEE

It doesn't. Laxasia is Lords of the Fallen tier. We can't all be From Software. We can be Lords of the Fallen though.

Laxasia is much worse. Her area is uninspired as well. Malenia's Haligtree was memorable and wasn't just some shit Dark Souls beach and then you fight Pieta from Lords of the Fallen with a troony voice actor

Lies of P is for the challengesexuals who don't actually like a challenge, but want to pretend they do. So many systems to trivialize encounters. Guess we know what the real Lies of P were.

All of the systems and mechanics are actually useful in this game, unlike in souls slop.

This is some major ER projection. The only cheesiness in LoP are throwables. ER is full of cheese. You have to actively restrict your playstyle in ER to avoid cheesing the game.

LoP is worse. Throwables. P-Organ (NG++ literally removes 2 mechanics: fury attacks and weight limit). Blades and handle system lets 2-hand blades on 1-hand handles for faster swings. Grind stones. Wish stone. Summons. Legion arms. And on top of that the game scales aggressively so it's very hard to be under leveled.

ER might have its issues, but most of those are from imbalance with some items/ashes/summons. Plenty of players will end up completely overlooking those things by choosing weaker options. And ER still sucks, by the way. But nice try with the whataboutism.

          >NG++ literally removes 2 mechanics: fury attacks and weight limit
The Penis-Organ gets more skills? I saw nothing about weight limit in the tree and I just finished the game

            Anonymous

NG+ grants phase 6, and N++ adds phase 7. Phase 7 lets you go up to 69% of your weight limit and still be light weight, and it allows you to block fury attacks, so if you miss the perfect guard you still take reduced damage.

NG+ 1/2 introduces more P-Organ upgrades that basically turn P into a demi god. It’s basically just for dicking on everything for funsies

Meanwhile in ER you can summon ghosts that break every fight and abuse the absolute shit out of scarlet rot, bleed and magic.

People downplay the enemy variety in this game too much for dunks and it’s pathetic. This game isn’t just robots and it isn’t just zombies. The variety on display in this game could rival anything from current Fromsoft. I’ll agree on the level design but it’s already been found out from official channels that they know this is something people have been talking about because they had hiring positions for level and dungeon design. I don’t know how robust the sequel will be in terms of level depth but if the Rosa Iseballe Opera House is anything to go on I think they can pull it off.

The actual level design is faultless, these devs love shortcuts more than even Miyazaki does
And the enemy variety is fine as far as actual combat goes, but it's just tiring to constantly fight zombies. Especially since they ambush you on 90% of all item drops
      DaS1 wasn't just Blighttown either

The first 3 levels of the game has no zombies till you get to the Grand Cathedral this extends to the Malum District. You don’t start fighting zombies again till Lorenzeni Arcade and then the level directly afterward (The Grand Exhibition) start throwing both types at you. And all the ones in the Grand Exhibition are new (Gunner zombies, Pugilist, crazy asylum lady). I know it’s easy to meme that all you fight by the mid point is zombies but this isn’t true. Maybe it just feels that because the game relies on both types up till they just fuse the two in the late game.

Dude I just told you, the enemy variety with regards to actual combat is fine. It's just draining to constantly run through sewers and slums where everything goes RAAAAARGRGHRHRRRRRR and jumps through a wall to ambush you
That isn't a enemy variety issue, it doesn't matter whether that zombie has a pike or explodes

        >The actual level design is faultless, these devs love shortcuts more than even Miyazaki does
Bullshit. The levels are more linear than DS3, and the short cuts are only good if you are going to bother running farming loops, or you are somehow so shit at the game you actually died to the braindead fodder on the path.

          Anonymous

The level design IS good but the shortcuts are plenty because the devs wanted to moron proof the game. It’s basically the equivalent of compromising in the LE PREPARE TO DIE meme without giving the game away. I didn’t hate it but if you have any experience with these games the shortcuts will probably feel to generous. As much as fricking despised Lords of the sloppin I understand why people felt like tension was so exhilarating.

I think it was just before the final boss where you get a shortcut back to the stargazer on the bridge even though you're 20 seconds away from finding the one before the boss door
I think there was literally 1 regular enemy and nothing else on that path after the shortcut

I would like a soulsgame with a bigger focus on cannon fodder and the combat leading up to a boss fight. Minus the zombies, I enjoyed a lot of these encounters in lie of P, especially when the circus puppets were introduced, but these sections were too shot for me. Level design wise, I think a maze like level design consisting of hallways with strategically placed enemies + environmental hazards, arenas with waves of enemies, and puzzle sections would work well. Also I’d get rid of throwables and consumables and just replace them with more arms that you can cycle between instead.

I think at that point you're just gonna have to play DMC or something. All Soulslikes only care about bosses

Why can’t we have both? I like how enemies in souls like have different attack patterns that you have to get used to. It’s not really something you get from DMC or any other action game as far as I’m aware.

I really like the game, but I think it punishes super-heavy weapon playstyle by having some bosses be a bit too fast paced along with poor poise damage on heavy weapons.

Towards the end, I just used the puppet axe (which I think is the heaviest blade?) with the police baton. As a heavy weapon user, you're supposed to just block that enemy freaking out and get your health back in one hit
