AC2 should have started its own franchise. It's one half AC1 and one half a treasure hunting adventure game that has fuck all to do with AC1.
Brotherhood was good if you wanted more AC2 in a new map and improved mechanics
Don't bother with the rest
Revelations at least gave a decent closure to Ezio's story
the "Embers" film is actually the end of his story
I unironically clapped during THAT scene.
Revelations was boring as fuck and the start of the decline and a prediction of things to come
That was III
Nope, zoomie
>zoomie
Ass Creed is zoomer franchise
lol no
>AC2: 2009
yes moron
i played it when i was 7 (my dad didn't care about the rating obviously)
>I played the second game (not the first, note) early so it's a zoomer game
have a nice day
AC was 2007.
Don't care if you played it, it wasn't made with you in mind, unlike modern zoomie games.
yes but it had both Schedule for Deletion and the absolutely final kino of the entire series at the absolute end.
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THIS FUCKING SERIES?
Is this the game where the byzantine prince was evil because he was trying to kill the ottoman sultan?
>evil
You still think the Templars are the bad guys?
doesn't matter what you think but what the devs do
they always make the MC stand with the "oppressed" and victims of usually european powers
yet here you side with the invaders just because they are shitskins
yes, you side with the ottoman prince because he's a bro the whole game
Black Flag, Origins and Odyssey are enjoyable if you don't treat them like an Assassin's Creed game. Plus don't bother trying to 100% them since they become tedious otherwise.
Black Flag is fine as long as you stay on ship, the minute you set your foot on soil it turns into shit
also Rogue is the superior game, just as Liberation HD is to III as it improve on the mechanics and cut off the fat, making it better experience
>Modern Templars use Shay's legacy to shitpost on Assassin controlled websites
Still find it funny
>Brotherhood was good
you're like a little baby, watch this
on a side note, Valhalla had like 800 collectibles to Platinum/100%, but at least the map was huge
Unity's 100% was somehow boring but also fun. I can't elaborate why or how. it just was.
wish I could've picked the sword of Suger earlier tho
It's called nu-Fun
modern Ubi's library follows this philosophy to a T
because they actually cranked up the parkour system to eleven
it was the probably the only ass creed game where I sidetracked from the story progression because how fun the parkour is
there's also the heist
Unity cured my completionism. I don't remember what it was but some collectible still showed up on the map for no reason. Never knew if it was a bug or not, but considering that launch.
that UI was made in flash, literally
The franchise peaked with Brotherhood, change my mind
not a single game after Ezio's saga ever had as much catharsis as fucking Rodrigo Borgia's shit up while having Machiavelli as your boss.
Toppling giant overpowered egyptian/norse gods didn't feel as good as kicking the pope's fat ass and his retard son.
That’s because the Borgia were actually a threat to the Creed and Ezio, brotherhood opens up with a siege and many dying because of the Borgia
AC2 was just too good
You have plenty of stakes because your entire family got murdered by Borgia's and you work the entire game to uncover the conspiracy that ruined your life
[spoiler[ too bad the ending was so shit because Ezio should have murdered the Rodrigo at Rome right then and there [/spoiler]
The ending in Spain made was better
I unironcally preferred having it cliffhanged into Brotherhood tho, it makes Rodrigo suffer and lose more.
Just killing him there would be a merciful release from karma. Seeing Cesare go bananas is satisfying as fuck.
kek I don't remember a single AC villain turn into pic related, only Cesare
As a concept, yes. It was the closest to their vision of what AC was intended to be.
The other games weren't even trying with the modern era shit anymore and were just an excuse to play in some historical setting.
From a gameplay perspective, late games did some things better.
You could argue that the gameplay actually improved with later games, people were just pissed off that they abandoned the overarching narrative of the series. Then starting with Origins, they just radically changed the gameplay and made it a Witcher 3 clone in a historical setting.
Every game after AC2 just dumbed it down besides Unity
>glowing red attack animations
>removed half of your combat abilities
>hold RT to parkour
>ass creed 1
>ass creed 2
>ass creed brotherhood
They didn't make any games after this. No matter what anyone else tells you.
current game industry's aversion for straight action games is telling. it actually takes a lot of effort to make a balanced and satisfying action game. modern asscreeds have that stupid lite-rpg crap to offset the garbage design or more like the lack of it. enemy is too strong? just give the player the ability to arbitrarily become stronger by giving him bigger numbers. i replayed the first asscreed a while ago and the simplicity was honestly so welcome. theres no level indicators above enemy heads, or numbers jumping out of my sword. no status screen where i can see how much HP or strength i have. just swing a sword at a guy and kill him in one or two hits.
Using AC1 as an example of a "straight action game" is a strange choice given that it's the least action-y in the entire franchise.
AC4 and maybe Origins are good.
Rest are kinda shit.
>then this is the greatest tragedy of all time
Skip anything after 3 until BlackFlag and then skip all those till Origins and continue from there. IMO Odessy is the best AC game.
>It is a good life we lead, brother.
>The best. May it never change.
>And may it never change us.
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Play Brotherhood as a glorified DLC
Revelations as a story driven DLC
Then stop playing the games and pretend absolutely nothing happened afterwards
It's just the same copy/paste game after this. You will get tired of playing them if you continue.
Black Flag is arguably better than AC2
Edward is a shitty protagonist, naval combat gets tiring after a while, towns are boring, villains are boring, tailing missions are awful. Nope, it isn’t better than AC2.
It’s not even better than Unity, Syndicate and Origins.
I lt is better than AC3 tho, kek.
AC3 was supossed to have an epic story and ending of Desmond Miles traveling through time and getting the abilities of all of his ancestors and would have been the end of the whole story.
well they fucked up by not ending desmond's story properly but ending the entire franchise after only 3 games (which is what Patrice wanted) would've been retarded. literally everyone except him wanted more
They could have ended the story in 3 and make every following game be an unrelated AU.
Revelations is the best Ezio game, debate me
Rome is better than Constantinople
The outskirts suck though
I really enjoyed the Rome outskirts, nice music for the region, you get jumped by bandits trying to rob and kill you, you get to see kino landmarks
I won't because you are right.
i like it for the setting and ezio but besides that it hasn't aged well
rest of the characters are pretty boring, the world is pretty uninteresting to explore and basically the game does very little with its open world, the only reason i went into one of those assassin tombs was because i wanted to, zero reason to work towards better armor or weapons because the entire combat is just spamming either smoke bomb + hidden blade or hidden blade deflect spam
I remember playing this game, I had just got done with Modern Warfare 2 and was looking for something just as good, in the mean time I was spending all my time playing Madden and gorging on Mountain Dew and Doritos, but that wasn't good enough. My older brother came home from college with his X-Box 360 and games like Halo and Gears of War but what caught my eye was Assassins Creed 2, I played it for an entire day the first time, it was the weekend so I I didn't have to worry about my bed time.
yes but "a couple of games after this one" means AC 3 onwards
if you really liked 2 then you liked Ezio
as such, you should keep going through Brotherhood and Revelations, then watch Embers
Brotherhood is a good sequel, and AC Unity is pretty good as well. The rest of the franchise is alright.
Revelations had the best intro and best ending of the franchise and you can't deny it unless you're a turbo gay that worship black dicks like an avarage american.
you are right. Issue is, bombs straight up negate the entire game.
I stopped playing after Black Fag, is there ever an Assassin MC who actually joins the organization because he believes in their creed?
Adewale from Freedom Cry which was a fun standalone game
"join the organization" you mean the templars?
if so, play Rogue.
as for assassins who truly believe the creed and don't do it out of necessity or revenge for personal reasons, I dont' think anyone did it besides Altair and Ezio. Maybe the bros in Syndicate too? idk
>Ezio
Ezio joins them because his family villa got burned or some shit
that was a beef with a local judge tho, he solved that in the very first mission and could've ended right then if he didn't get interested in the order.
Edward does though? He spends most of the game not being an Assassin and willingly joins them towards the end.
only because he got nothing left anyway, he ends up completely single, broke, cucked and his kid got taken away
For me the best ac games are
ac 2/brotherhood
ac4 black flag
ac origins
the games after origins are way too fucking large
I was 11 when it released and I played it with my dad who had no interest in vidya, but he watched over me play because of the +18 pegi rating, good memories, I love my dad
Brotherhood was good and Revelations kinda dragged on, but it's a nice trilogy
Lost interest after AC3, never even finished it
You should play Black Flag honestly, the whole Assassin/Templar thing is pretty boring but the boat gameplay is utter kino and you get to have pirate adventures
NTA I played both and honestly, Rogue just felt way better. like some anon up there said, Black Flag is amazing duue to shanties and treasure, but as soon as you set foot on land the game immediately turns to shit.
Rogue doesn't' have jolly piracy but you get to sail, take over ships, find treasure and shit anyway while also chilling with the game's moody atmosphere and barely-existing story
I dunno I could never get into Rogue, I tried 3 or 4 times over the years. I think it's just the lack of piratery
>but as soon as you set foot on land the game immediately turns to shit
Absolutely, I basically just finished all the pirate content and then slogged through a dozen tailing missions
Also IIRC Rogue doesn't have the big boss ships that Black Flag had (1 on each corner of the map) and that's a huge loss
they exist
https://www.ign.com/wikis/assassins-creed-rogue/Legendary_Ships
I misremembered then, apologies. Maybe they were easier because you have a more formidable ship in Rogue?
I'll give the game another try in future and really try sticking with it
Storm Fortress is absolutely assmad-inducing
Is there any point in collecting all the money chests and other shit in this?
Nope.
No, they're just there to give you some money, which quickly becomes irrelevant when your mansion makes 30000x as much
I only finished it last year and I’m currently playing Origins, after playing everything in order (+Bloodlines). 2 and it’s direct sequels are truly amazing.
