I think I like BOTW more. TOTK was really good, but the systems just didn't come together cohesively enough for me. All the actual "main" content felt weaker than BOTW, the wind temple was an exception though, as climbing higher and higher was really great. Both the depths and sky islands just didn't have enough content that differentiated itself from the overworld.
Really good game, but as time passes I think less and less of it. Still great, but has flaws.

yeah I feel like I had a big dumb smile on my face for that whole region's section
Rushing through that section, dropping the enemies and ascending through what felt like a mario 64 bowser level, then getting to the temple which was kind of just more of that instead of a lull in the pacing was great.

I just started it yesterday. Even with the glitch to get the MsgNotFound Master Sword the tutorial sky island was a slog. Building things just seems like a waste of time; a solution in search of a problem. Like great, I can build a bridge with logs, but once I get some stamina food and the glider I can just jump over gaps.

        according to Eric here

        >You can use the hover Bike in combat
        >You can attach anything you want to it without immediately losing balance
        >You can use the hover bike to explore the depths in complete darkness, without having to stop constantly to toss light buds
        >You can use the Hover Bike to solve water puzzles
        >You can use the hover bike to traverse very long distances with 2 or less battery charges, rendering the system useless

          >you can use the hover bike to explore the depths

okay, point by point I'll tell you what's right and wrong.
1: yes, I've reached an altitude of 3300 which is the cap. It all depends on how many zonai batteries you've invested in. If you have zonai charges, you can keep going regardless.
2: You generally cannot use it in combat except with Yunobo's sage power. It can be used as a platform to leap off to initiate bow bullet time.
3: You can attach koroks and several other objects while retaining enough control. There are other forms for heavy loads like shrine stones including the "hoverbike 2.0" video which showcases a 4 fan vehicle attached together with a 2 by 4 meter wooden board.
4: You can, but you'll sometimes crash into mushrooms etc. that you cannot see. A headlight can help. If you fly in a straight line with a bulb straight ahead of you, it will show the silhouette of any obstacles that you can then avoid.
5: Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The 2.0 hoverbike I mentioned before is water buoyant.
6: That's grasping at straws, since having only 1-2 batteries is very early game. This is why doing things in the depths is rewarding, it increases your utility faster than anything else with zonaite for autobuilding, and crystal charges for batteries.

Hope that helps, whether or not you're quoting the opinion of whatever dime a dozen board schizo named Eric or not.

        Anonymous

This think eats power like crazy, it's not as great as people claim. If you've got enough charges to make this viable you already did some grinding in the depths.

For some dumbfrick reason it doesn't matter if you have the fans aligned (i.e. the little zonai symbols lining up perfectly), the hoverbike still tilts to one side when you let go of the stick.
One fan setups don't have this issue.

      Anonymous

Buildings certain devices and objects will help you especially when you get Autobuild. The main issue with it is that once you make a good enough machine, there's very little reason why you would explore further.

All you really need is a hoverbike and a floating platform aerial canon and you can pretty much solve anything the game throws at you with ease.
The biggest personal gripe I have with the game is just how tedious the grinding is for certain things. If you don't use duping glitches, it'll take you dozens of hours to fully upgrade your endgame sets.

You need to like open-world stuff. In previous Zeldas, playing for 2 hours would get you through a good chunk of the game, but in open-world Zeldas, it could be almost zero progress.

I would dig the open-world Zeldas more if their world was the size of Link to the Past. A lot to do, a large and varied world, but not a lot of movement required.

some seem to only spawn in specific areas, but not across the board, such as ive found royal only under Hyrule Castle, but found other stuff elsewhere, and I think the riot/goron/etc... have higher chances for their weapons underneath themselves.

These are either fetch quests or not really that engaging. Maybe Kilton’s is okay if only because you can frick around with the statues. The goddess statue and Gerudo ones are actively offensive and while I think Lurelin is a glorified fetch quest I’m fine with that one as the reward for it is really nice and you get to see the village change with your efforts. Still not that impressive, half of the ones you’re bringing up are mediocre with the overwhelming majority being largely filler. I personally find the Yiga and Constructs charming, though.

NTA but the question was to list 10 engaging long quests and he provided them. "Engaging" is obviously subjective but these are at least arguably engaging, and I had a lot of fun with most of them. You'd be hard pressed to get quests like this in most other Zelda games, nevermind open world games.

Hate weapon breaking, Hate flashback Story Telling, Like Temples, Like sense of progression and Growth. Like varied combat and enemies. Graphics, Music, and Sound Design arent much to write home about. A Zelda title having music or sound that doesnt leave an impression seems obscene.

The game just isn't for me. Outside of some charming characters I dont really see the appeal.

      Anonymous

This games music and sound is top of the industry. I can heat several melodies in my head as I type this. Anywhere you go the world is teeming with sounds of wildlife and people working and every single town has a 10/10 soulful theme that kicks in perfectly underneath the natural sounds. Try to be less of a shithead.

        Anonymous

Thats the problem. All the music is subdued to the natural ambience. Its pleasant, but ranges from great like the Rito town theme to straight up forgettable like Gerudo town. But even those great ambient tracks lack any impact.

          Anonymous

I have to disagree that Gerudo Town is forgettable, but Zora's Domain kind of is so I'll give you that one. But most town themes in the game are pretty good, especially Lookout Landing.

This shit is so insufferable in western games. I don't know who started it, but its moronation in the name of accessibility.

I hate accesibility, when a developer treats accesibility as it were a universal principle to be applied everywhere I am instantly wary of their product.

That's because you actually have to solve the problems on the left and the devs don't want to risk players getting stuck vs the right where you can just as easily ignore everything or cheese it into oblivion.
Zelda was the same exact way, even far worse with characters like Fi, before they basically said frick it and made literally everything except the very beginning and very end optional so they wouldn't have to worry about morons getting stuck on toddler tier puzzles and challenges.

            Anonymous

Whether the puzzle/problem is hard or not I'd much rather have a character like Link than characters that never shut the frick up and always state the obvious

              Anonymous

Sure, but I'm just giving the reason why they do it, because gaming has gone mainstream and most of the people playing now aren't dedicated hobbyists and nerds, but dumbasses who either need to be told what to do or be allowed to cheese it or skip it entirely.

Gameplay looks barely any better than BotW and the story looks moronic with these gay goat people

Agreed, it's phenomenal. I'll say the depths is probably the weakest part of the game but it's largely completely divorced from the main story so it's not like you need to go there unless you want rare armor or battery upgrades.

Not perfect but a pretty good game. My favorite parts were the caves/wells, the great sky island, the monster control sidequest, Riju of gerudo town, and the Ganondorf fight.

    >this is OBJECTIVELY one of if not the best videogame ever made
You're OBJECTIVELY a tasteless fricking moron. Despite recycling the world from BotW it manages to not bother making up for almost any of its shortcomings. Maybe we could do something other than Korok quests, maybe something other than sign quests, for frick's sake give the player SOMETHING to do that doesn't just boil down to "go here, then here" or "kill these frickers". The crafting system fails to encourage any sort of experimentation because your weapons hit like chalk against a brick wall, finding new weapons still feels like shit because they're all equally worthless and disposable, your trio of buttbuddies are horrendously annoying to utilize and are always the exact opposite place you want them, and you're still finding all the same clothing in all the same places and otherwise doing the EXACT. SAME. SHIT.

Imagine having a $70 game with less ACTUAL content than a $20 expansion pack, and you have TotK.

You're right, a semi-linear dungeon crawler with coherent progression that manages to outpace is predecessor in every single way is clearly the same exact thing as doing 12,000 fetch quests to get your Black folkhitting korok seeds. Suck my dick you pedantic moron, anyone who payed $70 for this fricking garbage and doesn't hate themselves for it needs to go to rehab.

              >"""coherent progression"""
Yeah I sure do miss everything in the game boiling down to "go to this boring dungeon where you backtrack constantly and then fight a bumper cars boss that just requires your sword and often has nothing to do with the actual dungeon" gameplay. Very riveting.

    So my objective opinion.
If you love zelda games and loved botw then it's a really good game.
If you loved botw but are burnt out on open world games, then players will sink hours into this game.
If you like older zelda games and the older style of things. Then don't bother buying this game.
I loved this game but having the same open world expanded made it more tiresome to find the shrines than the previous game because you had a new world to explore.
You do have the underground area, but it is not as fun fumbling around in the dark constantly lighting your way through it dealing with gloom.

I was hoping for more sky areas as big as the temple of time area but they are more limited. Still it was great to go place to place.

Monsters are more difficult even when you can fire Keese eyeballs. Which is good but also a pain. So I wouldn't hold that against the game.
Gloom is a b***h and I hate it. That's my biased opinion on that.
Building stuff for puzzles is a great idea.
But I only used it for getting around and solving puzzles.
Then there is the story, made little sense as to the kingdom hyrule seems to restart it self from 10,000 years to 1,000 years.

It all was wierd. But game play is the focus on zelda and it was fun finding treasure underground and fighting old bosses underground to get their body parts to attach to weapons.
Great Game, would be better if I had a new world I could see visually instead of having to find a night light to see it all. But this game was still fun.

i liked botw a decent amount. totk i was skeptical cause the building seems tedious. and it is a bit tedious, but as i've gotten used to it its fast enough that it doesnt feel bad and i really do enjoy some of the puzzles that use the building.
