Yes and you also have to cast it multiple times and waste your casts doing it. It is easier to just do a full rest, but it is even easier just disabling that bullshit.
I've finished the game, so I know that in chapter 2 you have no access to death ward except for scrolls you'd need to hoard to kill the nabassu in market. 700 a pop.
And you can't spare level 2 slots for lesser restoration.
The way you deal with getting meleed by a shadow is you hit f8.
Restoration scrolls are cheap af. I bought 30 or so in chapter 3 and never had an issue with with stat/level drain ever again.
The game throws more money than you'd ever need at you so it's your fault for not preparing properly.
Lot of money pressure to get fat items early like red salamander and mercs.
The brakes only really come off during chapter 4 where every mook you chop down is covered in magic drip.
Maybe chapter 3 if you sweep dungeon dlc.
Red salamander is in wotr. Kingmakers shops have very few bits of gear worth buying. Most of the good shit is found out in the wild or give to you by artisans.
I don't use mercs but they are pretty pricey yeah, by the time I they became affordable I already settled on a party.

It took me a few tries to get into, but once you do, it's kino. Vordecai's arc in particular is kino and better than almost all of WOTR

Can I start the midnight isles dlc in chapter 5? I want to wait until I unlock legend to run through it.
It is spread out over the acts, first part is act3, then act 4, 5, 6.
There are two different ways of playing it. If you play it through the campaign it is just set enemies on remade locations.
If you start a new game on the DLC from the main menu it is a roguelike with randomly generated locations and enemies.
So if I start it in act 5 I miss out on the stuff in act 3 and 4?
Tbh you miss out on most of it by visiting in campaign. A lot of the cheevos are locked to standalone.
You just get some loot and xp for going there in a campaign run.

A Wizard or Sorcerer would still kill them faster, tbh. One cast of Phantsmal Killer (with Undead bloodline so you bypass their immunity) or two hellfire rays (one quickened, the other empowered and bolstered, so that you can do both in one round) should put down any Lich.

If you want to be a good guy then paladin for sure. If not then demonslayer ranger, fighter, barbarian or slayer.
Paladin and ranger both have the option of picking a pet at 4th level which makes the game way easier (pets can easily be amongst the best tanks in the game and if you mount one then enemies tend to attack them not the rider) and have some minor spellcasting which can help you get used to that.
Fighters honestly aren't the best choice for a beginner imo. There's so many feats in the game and it's not always obvious which ones are useful.

I'm having such a blast playing angel + oracle in this. Normally I would do an evil character first, but everyone gushing over my light of justice, 24 hour party wide buffs and being able to single-handedly kill many smaller bosses in just one action with my KC is so much fun.

Yes you do, refusing or accepting power has nothing to do with your mythic levels, it affects the DC of the attribute skill check you need to pass if you want to go legend, if you accept the powers all three times (Areelu's lab, meeting with her in Nocticula's palace, and killing the demon army early in act 5) the DC becomes more difficult

Put it on autoleveling (for both companions and your own char). Select a pre-created build, but go through RP parts of the character creator.
Play most of easy fights in realtime, saves a lot of hours in the end.
Don't sweat about bringing the difficulty level lower. You can do it any time in the menus. Battle system is tuned to autists so there's no shame in doing that.
There are companions for your party that you can miss if you don't get them during the prologue. Those will not be available for the rest of the game. If you care about things like that use a search on how to get all of them during prologue.

I really hate the lack of synergy between 95% of the classes and mythic paths.
Playing a Sorcerer or Wizard Angel for example feels like a waste because there's no spellbook merging.
Playing a Negative Energy Cleric Lich feels like a waste because, again, no spellbook merging.
Playing a DC caster that's NOT a Demon or Azata feels like a waste because you're missing out on insane bonuses to your DC
Playing a full BAB martial Lich / Angel like a Figher or Paladin feels like a waste because...no spellbook
Playing a 3/4 Divine / Arcane Martial like Warpriest or Eldritch Scion feels like a waste when compared to a Sorcerer / Oracle because, AGAIN, no spellbook.
From a gameplaygay standpoint, it feels like each Mythic is pigenholed into the following classses:
Angel: Cleric, Oracle, Shaman, and Druid
Azata: Wizard and Sorcerer
Demon: Wizard, Sorcerer, or a Cavalier/Barbarian/Bloodrager
Lich: Wizard, Sorcerer, or Arcanists
Every other class has SIGNIFICANTLY less synergy with these mythic paths.
The problem is more spellbook merges themselves than lack of spellbook merges elsewhere.
So Paladin for Kingmaker into Angel Crusader for my first plays. Thoughts?

Crusader is the opposite of awful you dummy it's the best cleric subclass.
It's fine. Paladin is good in Kingmaker, and Cleric is op in WOTR.
Crusader isn't awful. Passing up a domain is pretty bad, but you're gonna be op either way considering you're getting Angel Spells at the end of act 2. So if anon wants to play a more melee oriented Cleric, then Crusader is fine for the extra feats

Not really because you get another one from your mythic skills with no deity restriction.
And you are still one down from a normal cleric.
And compared to a normal one, you have what, greater weapon focus and weapon specialization, without all the extra things full bab martials get.
Marginally better at smacking people, which is pointless if you merge with angel.

That's a mythic feat tax imo. Base Cleric is better because you already have 2 domains, and you don't really need a 3rd one unless you're on unfair.
The Mythic Feat that you spent on an Extra Domain could've been spent on Enduring Spells (so that you get 24 hour buffs), Abundant Casting (so that you get more spells to cast before resting), or Metamagic Empower / Bolster (so that you can get more spell slots of bolt / storm of justice)
Depends what you're doing.
If you're making a tank/damage KC then crusaders a lot better for weapon feats. You have one domain for a guarded hearth and can get animal later.
As a caster you 100% do not want to be crusader as the weapon feats are worthless and you can't pay a mythic feat tax for domains as easily since were chasing all the caster stuff.

So a Cleric will have all of the good buffs dozens of hours before your Oracle, since a Cleric starts getting all of the OP buffs at level 7-9, while your Oracle won't be getting them until level 14+.
But even at launch, before the Oracle / Sorcerer nerf, Clerics were better. Domains > Revelations, because nothing in an Oracle's arsenal can touch +30 attack (touch of good + touch of madness + guarded hearth), or the fact that you got every spell for each level instead of 4-6 per a level

Azata is about establishing a scooby gang of misfits and outcasts and solving the crusade with the power of friendship. Trickster is about playing pranks on the demons and solving everything by not caring.
It's worth considering that Azata has a lot more content. Trickster's act 4 quest consists of 1 quest and it's basically nothing.

There's quests that fail if you don't complete them before you leave the chapter, and then crusade mode is a soft timer because you eventually morale spiral when you conquer the map.
There is no 'x weeks until you lose' shit anywhere that I encountered.
The morale spiral is survivable as well, I held out a full year completely bottomed out, though having caster generals helped out plenty since you could just blast an entire army in one go by then

On my two runs going for the secret ending I missed the date to enter Threshold and just skipped days until it came around again, letting the demons take every fort and just fighting them at drezen. Having low morale barely does anything at that point and it doesn't end the game.
Nope, I think you lose when Drezen gets attacked and taken. What having rock bottom morale does is make it more likely for your units to skip turns, which makes it harder to hold Drezen. That said, they never got that far because my wizard generals just blasted everything to death in one or two turns.

but hey you can always respec so I wouldn't shit my pants in fear, especially if you're playing melee
First time builds are always a little fricked, especially for your more complicated party members
Honestly I don't remember the game recommending that many feats with the Thumbs Up icon but I think it depends on what class you pick, I believe it leaves a lot of shit out anyways like Outflank and can sometimes even recommend you completely useless shit like Point-Blank Shot on a melee
Oh and don't dump your wisdom score, it'll affect your will save. Dump int or charisma instead.

What are some classes/shit that's decently powerful early/mid game too?
I want to play unga bunga demon so was thinking of going barbarian for RAEG but a mutation fighter seems good too(or maybe multi class those two together?). Although I'm guessing that early game power comes moreso from finding busted equipment than optimizing feats.
Also spoonfeed me on martial feats. Especially I hear there's some ever ready AoO cheese? Magical shit is simple enough with school/pen/etc focus but with martials I'm not quite sure what to get aside from two weapon fighting(if using that) and weapon specs+outflank.

Classes with decent class abilities and good feat choice matter more early on since you have more limited buffs to stack and magical equipment (they do matter still, obviously).
It's also why pets are a crutch if you are not sure what you are doing early on

I remember getting wrecked on normal back when I played on release(paladin angel) so was hoping to power game a little bit but not too much(so no dipping into monk crane shit and having 6 pets tripping everything to death).
Weapons wise I was thinking of using exotic double axes(they count as two weapons like gnome hooked hammers, right?) even though it's best to go longswords/scimitars for crits, I think? Still, Finnean should keep me covered even if that weapon type is rare/doesn't have many good unique ones.

Oh and everyone turns Woljif into Vivisectionist, I keep him as Scoundrel but either way he will not be casting arcane spells for control or damage, just for buffs, you're stuck with Nenio if you want that

Problem with cam is shes got to chant to extend hexes and that eats your move action, so all you can really do with her is cleave or vital strike.
Here's what you want roughly. A cleric; either lann or sosiel, a wizard; typically nenio, a melee, most of the other cast can go here like regill and ulbrig, then hex support from cam or ember. Last spot can be a ranger like aru or ranger wenduag since bond is decent.
Woljiff is a pain in the ass because he's made of paper if you leave him as a dagger melee. Even through archmage armor, shield, reduce, shield of faith, barkskin stuff will swap to him and gib him. So you have the tough choice of scrapping his dagger feats or trying to bulk him up.
Outflank and Combat Reflexes into Seize the Moment are for AoO spam and they're easy to get, one them even works with ranged characters but I forget the exact interaction. Dazzling Display into Shatter Defences is also useful but that's more for lategame where you have Shaken always up

What do you mean by Necromancy, their spells? Not all of them do negative energy and yeah I can't see why you wouldn't just take Fire and get the wizard subclass that let's you convert everything to fire

Mechnically, sarenrae isn't. Erastil is because the domains are the strong ones.
Lore wise, sarenrae was the first angel and is one power magnitude beneath phrasma, the who was the only survivor of the previous multiverse.
Most gods rank beneath the pair of them.
Sarenrae is also famous for several frickups, among them imprisoning rovagug inside golarion, then smiting golarions surface with her scimitar giving rise to monsters. This is supposedly when she learned that fiery wrath should be a last resort.
Erastil is a pretty irrelevant god of the hunt.

Loading times that reminds you of 20 years ago, a lot of unlikeable companions (Regill's cool though) and the environments don't really get fun until Act 4. Villain has a great VA.
Personally I enjoyed the first one, Kingmaker, far more and would consider replaying that one which I never will for WOTR.

The camera thing sucks but it's the only environment that actually is interesting visually and in content.
The Enigma looks good too but that is flawed even more by all the terrible puzzles it throws at you.
And just to be clarify why I think Kingmaker is a much better game, WOTR has many weaknesses but the biggest one imo is that the environments absolutely unequivocally suck. There's only like two areas in the game I enjoyed and they're both near endgame content (Abyss and the Enigma), the rest is dreary gray brown textures meant to be some kind of demon-blasted lands stretched over every single map, generic caves and prison dungeons.
Kingmaker's biggest flaws besides kingdom management (a flaw shared with WOTR) is that it takes a while to get going, it's only really once you've collected your companions, killed the Stag Lord and dealt with the Sycamore that the game really gets going.
I played both shortly after each other, fully patched and all.

He means Stolen Lands for Kingmaker and I think it's just a good way to see builds, the part of it that's built into the campaign is mindnumbingly boring, a bunch of random rooms stuck together full of enemies and annoying traps

Is there somewhere a good guide for building characters in Owlcat Pathfinder? I don't wanna miss on the fun, there's some good info in the tooltips, but I still feel like going in kinda blind.
You'd need a primer on about a decades worth of tabletop autism and game specific knowledge, and a lot of wotr specific spoilers wrt mythic powers and mythic paths.
Just play on a low difficulty unless you want to study neoseeker and the gog forums and ruin a lot of it.
This game is worth multiple runs anyway. It's well paced and there's stuff you'll appreciate after doing a full pass once.
