All this time I thought this controller is like a real fishing rod in shape, and there's a telescopic part.
I'm kinda disappointed to see what it actually is, but still, glad for you OP. There aren't many games except ones that are already named in this thread, sadly. You may want to try Sega Bass Fishing too
> expecting devs to do a then-new groundbreaking 3d perfectly while their parent company rushes them to release a game on the new console's launch
We call it crunching nowadays. I'd say they did what they could. There are plenty of extra things in Sonic Adventure that just could've been left out yet they did it anyway. Fishing controller support could be one of them, for sure.
>We call it crunching nowadays.
It was called crunching then too.
Such as? Seriously asking, AFAIK back then their last 2 games were SA3&K and NiGHTS.
SA3&K was handled by STI in San Fran, away from the influence of Sonic Team and Yuji Naka. Nights is an okay game but was prioritised when it wasn't the right game to launch with the Saturn. Again, Naka got his way. He stifiled the development of Xtreme and refused to share technology for STI. Thus ensuring that the Saturn never got a mainline Sonic game. Burning Rangers is good but has technical issues and came too late in the lifespan for anyone to care.
The original release of Sonic Adventure on the DC in Japan is so bad. It's buggy af, has camera issues that Mario 64 didn't have years earlier, just feels generally rough. That stink didn't really go away for the international version. At this time Naka was probably off producing PSO so I don't think he had much direct involvement with ST anymore. SA2 is a bit better, but Sonic Team games never managed to shake that rough around the edges feel and then it just descended into throwing shit at the wall with things like Sonic 06.
>PSO has to be their crowning achievement.
PSO is a masterpiece and it's amazing that it turned out as well as it did. It should have been bigger than it was but Sega was going under.
Sonic feels really good to control though? Same goes for SA2. Why do people pretend these games are unplayable? Before 2016 or so they were universally praised sans autists raging over green eyes
Nifty, does that thing have some kind of motion sensor so you can physically whip out your virtual fishing line?
Sega Marine Fishing
It works well with Virtua Tennis too.
Yes it has motion control.
>Sega Marine Fishing
cool will get that thanks
Ok, that actually makes it a really cool niche peripheral.
Soul Calibur

I think Big's story in SA1 is compatible with this? I don't remember.
No, it's not. Totally wasted opportunity, since his story levels are literally Sega Bass Fishing without a time limit.
>expecting Sonic Team to go the extra mile when they can't even manage the bare minimum
lmao
To be fair, this was Sonic Team when people still had good will on them. Not Sonic Team today.
Sonic Team had rot even back then.

I enjoy all the mainline Sonic games up into SA2 (3K being my favorite) but PSO has to be their crowning achievement.

I've got one too but no fishing games, isn't it able to work on a fighting game? Is it compatible with any Dreamcast game? Space channel 5?
I think it's compatible with Crazy Taxi, but i'm not sure. Also have no idea how it's gonna work in that game.
got a big one
whyd you get it but not a fishing game kek, also i doubt playing a fighting game with this is even worth trying sounds like ass
virtua tennis rules with this thing and I am not pulling your leg anon.
