It's too bad too because they look like they could make good games. It's like they make a good blueprint for enjoyable gameplay and then frick it up with a bunch of moronic ideas

You're not supposed to grind you're supposed to pay

Wtf is there to do after you pay though, it looks like this game is literally just grinding in circles and my friend says the PVP is dead and that the "dungeons" in the game aren't actually endgame content so what are people even grinding for?

not sure if you're trolling or not
The point of Black Desert is another life. You wake up, and live in that world instead of this shitty one. You can build a boat and sail the seas, trade cargo around, or be a pirate and attack other cargo ships. You can start a cooking/alchemy business and corner the market with goods, or just be a trader directly buy low sell high and play the stocks. You have months of quests to read that provide little adventures in every location in the game. What's the lore behind the harpies attacking Delphe? Find out. Rather you like jungles, forests, deserts, highlands, or snowy mountains there is some location in the game with a neat house to buy and decorate. I've said all this and not once have I mentioned grinding monsters.

So basically the pve autists who grind all day are just mindbroken and have failed to enjoy the game for what it is? Think I'll give it a try, I'm not gonna grind circles though. Boat shit looks pretty fun and so does the trading lifeskill.
          >lore
Is the lore actually good? I don't care about actual story presentation since it's an MMO but I like interesting worlds with stuff to learn about

So why is the tutorial forcing me to read their shitty story, watching shitty cutscenes and kill 20 brainless mobs?

cause the devs made the game to waste your time so you eventually get fed up and make a micro transaction

What microtransactions do you even need lol, you get more than 5 free pets just from playing the game and they give out free pearl stuff all the time. They've reduced the weight of pots and trash loot multiple times so you don't need to buy weight, you leave season with over 90 inventory slots, there is a f2p tent to repair and buy pots while grinding. If you're buying any enhancement or lifeskill related stuff you're griefing yourself, if you're p2wing fairy you're griefing yourself, if you're buying old moon, kama buffs or value packs you're griefing yourself. I could get more out of my money by doing p2w in worloworcraft

Will we ever get something like BDO as a single player game?
A skyrim/witcher-like world but BDO crafting/lifeskills/classes. NPCs craft and trade goods and move them around the world. You can fulfill economic needs or create them (banditry or monopolism).

A living economy like X3 but in a fantasy world with the scope of a continent/planet (dimensions? underground civilizations?).

      >Will we ever get something like BDO as a single player game?
The game is already full of solo content, making it offline wouldn't make it any better. The combat is ass, the "story" is shit and the optimization is dogshit if you're looking at technical aspects such as draw distance.

        >The combat is ass
What's wrong with the combat? Isn't that the main drawing point of the game

it's bareboned dynasty warriors tier shit where you just mash in circles around brainless enemies. There's absolutely no depth to it in any sense of the word. It's basic, and it isn't fun in that sense either.
          >Isn't that the main drawing point of the game
No, the draw is how flashy the game looks, not how fun it is to play.

nta but its mostly just point in general direction of monsters, and spam all your combos to kill everything on the screen.
bosses are just either 1 shot or tank everything.

there's some minor combat skill in when to use super armor/blocks/iframes but mostly its pretty simple and never comes up because you either 1 shot everything or its a boss.
and the bosses arent exactly complex either, mostly just being supped up normal enemies that now do tons of damage but that;s about it.

since all the world bosses are desigend for everyone to just funnel in and wail on them, there's no complex mechanics beyond hit thing until it dies.

and the pvp is shit too? the siege wars or whatever?

              Anonymous

basically its just a zerg fest and all that matters is your item level.

it can be fun if you're in a pvp guild but at the end of the day its just how high your numbers are, now jam your face into the crowd and spam combos.

small scale 'can' have depth, but its completely imbalanced and is still entirely gear dependent. and people with equal gear just equally 1 combo each other.

                Anonymous

ah ok I might try it out. I was told that I didn't really have to grind gear to do pvp since now there's an arena that gives you exclusive gear for it? and that the siege wars have gear caps to it or some shit idk. looks at least more fun than grinding the dumb ai. saw a guy pvping on ninja in the arena and it actually looked really badass so I like the animation quality at least

It's the same thing where you just spam combos at people. The higher your FPS the more of an advantage you will have because the devs tied attack damage to framerate.

                >the devs tied attack damage to framerate
                that sounds moronic

                Anonymous

I don't know about the arenas since istopped playing a few years ago.

node wars however had gear level caps based on the tier of the war, but, level still matters and 1 level can make a big difference since there's no level cap. higher levels can take ages to get up, but top tier players will have 3-4 levels above the soft cap which takes ridiculous grind and will just stomp you anyways.

Not to include all the other bullshit like consumables and buffs you'll have to frick around with, some of which are p2w.

Its a flashy game and you can have some fun with it. Its f2p at the end of the day so there's no reason not to give it a shot if you're interested. Just be wary and of the p2w because its forced into every aspect of the game. And unlesss you're a no life whale, you will never get to PvP at any decent level.

                >you will never get to PvP at any decent level.
Nah not true anymore. None of the pvpers in this game grind gear anymore, uncapped wars are all dead and everyone is sitting on T1 and T2 nodes. Pvpgays literally don't take one foot out of town anymore and are mostly gearlet BA/AoS rats, they log in for war and spam AoS until it goes down. Guilds like Cho are struggling to even find geared players who actually know how to pvp. I just did trials yesterday for some new members and these are 720+ gs players, way more fricking geared than me and they have no clue how to pvp at all. Node Wars are dead and it's not because of gear gaps, it's because they can't get past the scummy seal clubbers who deliberately smash any alliance of new players that are just now learning pvp. Also it's because new players start getting into pvp and then learn how much of a meme it is with hitstun/desync, so they end up quitting

                Anonymous

Well damn, there's just no pvp then*
Kinda a shame, I was in a t2 guild for awhile and while it was a complete cluster frick there's just some fun to be had in being in an organized zerg having a fun time with a fun guild.

                Anonymous

Nope, not much. Pvp is slowly dying despite them making it more accessible than ever. Open world PVP and gvgs are literally dead as frick since pvpers don't grind anymore. New players don't want to get into AoS, the top 100 is just veterans with multiple smurf accounts climbing then sitting. It's so dead that people just climb and sit with no risk of dropping out of the top 100.

Can't even get everyone to show up to node wars anymore since it's all just so dogshit, nothing but inorganic scripted fights instead of real grabs for territory or any real politics or drama. The only time people zerg is when there's fresh meat and the top established guilds zerg out all of the new blood that dare try to compete without shaking hands with trannies. It's all so fricking gay. The class balance sucks, the servers have been worse than ever since the transfer.

Can't really blame the players though since PA has refused to assess the reality of the situation. If OP wants to get into PVE it's a great time since it's so streamlined. Gearing up is easy now since you aren't forced to enhance to progress anymore and with open world being dead + the daily 1 hour private grind time it's more PVE based than ever. Silver is so inflated that engaging with the enhancement system out of seasonal is griefing yourself for no reason at all. Pvp in this game is a meme no one does it

Also you just don't know how fricking cringe it is. The main pvp content is something you don't even have to grind for anymore, you can literally be war ready in a week or two as a brand new player, yet it's more dead than ever. Less players than ever. There's a nodewar podcast every friday and it's just jaded vets griping and scratching their heads over why the scene is so FRICKING DRY.

Where's all the new blood? Why don't people want to learn pvp and show up for wars they ask, they don't even have to grind anymore to pvp in this game, so they wonder where they all are. All while not realizing they're the ones chasing everyone off with their utter homosexualry and pettiness. It's pretty pathetic, I wouldn't recommend playing this game for pvp kek. I can't 100% fault the devs for this since the pvpers are such awful people but at the same time the devs created this stagnant environment themselves. These players they push out of the pvp scene are just nearing 700+ gear score and still don't want to pvp because it's become that bad, they would rather aim towards grinding oluns with their friends lmao.

                It isn't always f2p.
It often does events/promotions where you can get the game free forever.
But you can't just pick it up whenever you want.
I wanted to make that distinction for any anons that agree with the logic "it's f2p no reason not to try" but then see $$$ on the steam page.

same as all other korean “action” mmos. you have flashy attacks and a dodge button, but the enemies you fight still have the AI of a tab target mmo and have no chance to even get you to dodge. And everything of course is entirely gear based so in pvp the action part doesn’t come into play either since the higher number will just one shot. bosses are the laziest things ever and will just roll a dice to decide which player of the zerg gets randomly one shot.

I actually unironically like the grind on occasion.
If the other systems in the game weren't so horrible it'd be my favorite MMO possibly of all time, at least until they censored the shai.

Its nice to be able to just relax for a few hours, throw some netflix on my other monitor, and just kill shit for hours while progressing my character and periodically shitposting in server chat.

But the enchanting system and all the p2w just kills the game for me. Also censoring the e-girls.

the game started out as a sandbox mmo but then tried to convert to theme park, but without adding anything that makes a theme park playable. so you just grind and grind, decorate your instanced house no one will ever see, and maybe build a boat so you can sail to a different grinding spot. the real reason people play is anime breasts

I just want to play as a customizable cute girl and chat with randoms, and periodically just cooperate for raids and pvp.

No. I only started playing a month ago and I'm already bored of it. There's nothing to do at max level except grind mobs for a 2% chance to upgrade a piece of gear (if it fails it is either destroyed or its level goes down). Frick that.
