It really feels like they "balanced" the game by consoleing in perfect roll gear for whatever archetype of a class they had in mind. Then forgot 90% of the skills rely on % of % so without that perfect gear every skill becomes so inconsistent you spend more time waiting for your resource to come back than using the core skill you want.
Three more days until I can play, I refuse to give them more money just to start earlier.
This game will exist for another twelve years before they release the sequel.

Nova sorc was THE main high end sorc build for years.
Charged bolt was one of the most popular sorc build early 1.10 and was still common years later.
Not the same person, but nova was a top tier skill especially before they got rid of occy rings, and ith blades. You would have max FCR and crazy damage, just tele on someone and nova them down so fast they couldnt even react. Add static for when you wanted to farm bosses and that was basically the go to sorc build until hacked items were cleaned out.
I've either grown old or just don't care about it anymore.
I look at the prices for everything in the game, remember how Diablo 3 gave me most of that stuff for free, and tune out ever wanting to play this fricking game.

had a dream last night i was playing the division VR and i was in a raid with a ton of friends and we're running thru a massive theatre turned maze. enemies are now supernatural and i found some items that make you look like tyrael, like that guy in the screenshot. one of my friends got stuck in a loop/fight with a miniboss and wouldn't do anything to continue the fight so i had to keep backtracking just for something to do and i raged out which pulled me out of my going into games machine i mean dream.

Legendaries aren't super exciting
Combat is visceral impactful kino, skill tree looks shallow at first but multiple synergies and legendary mosaics makes for an interesting puzzle. Scaling enemies only bad if you want to be clearing screens in an instant and if you build right you'll be able to do that anyway.

Literally just watch the story highlights, the endgame is just the same copy pasted dungeons over and over again while you rng your way to 3 legendarys that boost the damage of your main ability by 5000%. I've seen some screens which didn't impress me but I decided to watch some Twitch stream this morning to get a more holistic view of the game.
The screens look shitty and the game looks just as bad when actually being played. The voice acting is ridiculously melodramatic, the visuals are washed out like it's 2006, the UI has inconsistent art styles and looks like it was made by a bad indie studio that was inspired by even worse indie games, the sound and music lack impact and are unengaging, the character/NPC animations look absolutely awful by Blizzard standards which usually does an excellent job of animating (I think it's been the strongest part of all Blizzard games since WC3). D3 tempted me a little bit but I was put off by shit like always online; D4 doesn't even tempt me at all.
I'd rather play D1 (again), D2 (again), POE (again), or hell even Dungeon Siege (again).
Each fricking day I have to watch my mom with my stepdad, a nigg... a black man.
Will I get Diablo 4? Yes, because this will probably be the only joy I will have in life.
The early access strategy was quite brilliant, set it to be on the weekend and then charge morons EXTRA money to further beta test the product. And it sold. Blizzard truly can't be stopped.

Put in about 20 hours so far, never really played diablo games lmao. Played both the betas, the game is fun as hell on xbox. Will probably burn out sooner or later, but got my fun anyway. Somehow shattered leaks is the worst game location so far, everything else is just peak kino. Scosglen is comfy, the desert is great as well. Legendaries feel quite impactful, now I really want to move on to WT3 to see if my crackling energy build holds up lmao.
Anyway I'd rather be playing this “slop” than TotK (the openworld slop tendies won't shut the frick up about).

Fricking WZ2 has “THE BEST META LOADOUTS YOU SHOULD TRY” lists. Minmaxers are a thing since late 00's, and it always will be this way.

I may be not getting your point fully, but I'd say there's also a slight trend of online gaming getting really fricking lonely. What's funny is that not only did the games change, the playerbase changed as well. I’m in Act 4, having fun on my tornado druid same as the betas. Guess I’ll see what endgame is like but overall seems like a decent entry. I hope people make when they see my beta world boss horn.

It really feels like they "balanced" the game by consoleing in perfect roll gear for whatever archetype of a class they had in mind. Then forgot 90% of the skills rely on % of % so without that perfect gear every skill becomes so inconsistent you spend more time waiting for your resource to come back than using the core skill you want.

Charged bolt was one of the most popular sorc build early 1.10 and was still common years later.

You would have max FCR and crazy damage, just tele on someone and nova them down so fast they couldnt even react. Add static for when you wanted to farm bosses and that was basically the go to sorc build until hacked items were cleaned out.

had a dream last night i was playing the division VR and i was in a raid with a ton of friends and we're running thru a massive theatre turned maze. enemies are now supernatural and i found some items that make you look like tyrael, like that guy in the screenshot. one of my friends got stuck in a loop/fight with a miniboss and wouldn't do anything to continue the fight so i had to keep backtracking just for something to do and i raged out which pulled me out of my going into games machine i mean dream.

Combat is visceral impactful kino, skill tree looks shallow at first but multiple synergies and legendary mosaics makes for an interesting puzzle. Scaling enemies only bad if you want to be clearing screens in an instant and if you build right you'll be able to do that anyway.
The level scaling is dumb. The only time there's any challenge is when you enter non-scaled areas.

I've seen some screens which didn't impress me but I decided to watch some Twitch stream this morning to get a more holistic view of the game.
The screens look shitty and the game looks just as bad when actually being played. The voice acting is ridiculously melodramatic, the visuals are washed out like it's 2006, the UI has inconsistent art styles and looks like it was made by a bad indie studio that was inspired by even worse indie games, the sound and music lack impact and are unengaging, the character/NPC animations look absolutely awful by Blizzard standards which usually does an excellent job of animating (I think it's been the strongest part of all Blizzard games since WC3). D3 tempted me a little bit but I was put off by shit like always online; D4 doesn't even tempt me at all.
I'd rather play D1 (again), D2 (again), POE (again), or hell even Dungeon Siege (again).

What's funny is that not only did the games change, the playerbase changed as well. Everyone's hyper competitive, and that means more grinding, more minmaxing and, ultimately, even less fun to be had. It's sad and it seems there's nothing ~~*we*~~ can do about it.
