anyway the great thing about old JRPGs is that each character didn't HAVE to add a lot to the story. they could just be thrown in for fun or for gameplay purposes, and if you like them you can use them.

My game glitched and I didn’t get the ultima weapon when I killed ultimate weapon, the sword didn’t show up in my inventory. Frick me man I saved after cuz It said I got it but apparently not. 45 hours in for no ultimate. So gay.

I wanna go back and get all the materia and items I missed the first time around, I rate the game 9/10 it’s a masterpiece. Another game I wanna play is legend of dragoon which is pretty similar.
It's not worth it, anon. I finally played through all of LoD when I was NEET a few years back, having not touched it since I was a kid, and that game still felt like a gigantic waste of my time

That's exactly it. They didn't "spend time tuning fights." They would probably test it a few times to make sure its beatable with a normal party. That's all. They wanted you to break these games, that's extremely obvious in the predecessor FF3/6 as well. Final Fantasy is supposed to get incredibly cozy in late/postgame. You now have the whole world at your disposal to frick around and figure out how to break it.
squaresoft didn't bother with balance in any of their games

I always used her because I thought she was hot and love having a "thief" on my team. Turns out she is one of the strongest characters in game due to limit. I have 100% FFVII a couple of times but I've never been autistic enough to get the limit overflows on Cid and Barrett.
She has a wholeass storyline that greatly expands on the worldbuilding and adds even more nuance to many of its themes, she has a unique perspective amongst the party members, she's fun to have around and interact with and she's an optional character who also gets her own sidequest that is one of the most fun in terms of gameplay, what more do you want? a reveal that she's sephiroth long lost sister or something?
