this game is awesome. the skills are cool and fun, the level design is interesting, and there's so much stuff to do.

GOYSLOP DEAD GAME CHINK TROOON
Enjoy it while you can, Anon.
In time, you will understand why people talk about it in a bad light, but for new players, there is still plenty of enjoyment to be found.
As someone who's been playing since closed beta, there isn't much I can complain about besides the massive life bloat of league mechanics compared to the rest of the game and the visual clutter of certain builds.
Of most builds capable of mapping at a healthy speed*
And you really have no complaints about the bastardizations that started in Ultimatum?
>Completely mutilating a mechanic because "it's too strong, stop using it!" (Harvest overall power more than halved)
>Leaving boring, but rewarding mechanics unaltered for years so that people feel pressured into playing it even though it sucks (Heist)
>Massive nerfs to everything, making most skills practically not viable and a huge pain in the ass to scale up to feeling good, leaving only a small selection of builds in a comfortable spot (Expedition patch)
>On top of the insane Mana cost nerfs (also that patch)
>The constant nerfing of our ability to run Auras while also making them mandatory with changes like the Armor formula and making it easier for monsters to apply elemental ailments to you while also making Purity of Elements provide Elemental Ailment immunity(various patches) (Purity only really needed prior to getting elemental mitigation, which is annoying to get)
>The death of dodge and the new borderline-mandatory stat Spell Suppression because they decided to double non-unique monster spell damage in that patch (I forget which patch at this point)
>The nine months of hell that was when Archnem went core before being reworked entirely again (Sentinel)
>The fact that even reworked, the new system is still ass cancer sometimes with things like life regen cycling resists on an Essence buffed Bestiary mob (Crucible)
>Above all else, that many of these changes and more were originally made with the premise that the game would become PoE2 and now they were all totally fricking pointless, but won't be undone (a few days ago)
>Completely mutilating a mechanic because "it's too strong, stop using it!" (Harvest overall power more than halved)
It was OP. For one league, it was goated though.
>Leaving boring, but rewarding mechanics unaltered for years so that people feel pressured into playing it even though it sucks (Heist)
Heist is based. Alternative to leveling, unique play style that rewards building for, extremely unique rewards.
>Massive nerfs to everything, making most skills practically not viable and a huge pain in the ass to scale up to feeling good, leaving only a small selection of builds in a comfortable spot (Expedition patch)
True. It probably will get worse as they keep running the ascendancies down too.
>On top of the insane Mana cost nerfs (also that patch)
Not an issue.
>The constant nerfing of our ability to run Auras while also making them mandatory with changes like the Armor formula and making it easier for monsters to apply elemental ailments to you while also making Purity of Elements provide Elemental Ailment immunity(various patches) (Purity only really needed prior to getting elemental mitigation, which is annoying to get)
True. One shots get old fast.
>The death of dodge and the new borderline-mandatory stat Spell Suppression because they decided to double non-unique monster spell damage in that patch (I forget which patch at this point)
>The nine months of hell that was when Archnem went core before being reworked entirely again (Sentinel)
Not an issue
>Started in ultimatum
The game started going downhill with 3.0
There is a sharp difference between the "decline" prior to Ultimatum and the "decline" after.
>Most skills not viable
Anon, with cluster israeliteels existing, every skill is viable and extremely easy to make strong.
>Completely mutilating a mechanic because "it's too strong, stop using it!" (Harvest overall power more than halved)
This is by far the worst thing about nu-poe. They introduce fun and rewarding mechanics, like breach, and then repeatedly nerf it over and over again until people would rather avoid it entirely. This is also why the massive bloat feels bad, because most of the content is just flat out useless and the few that aren't are so good that you're forced into doing it.
I tried a serious run for the first time on the sanctum league, running a whirlwind build, and by the time I hit 40-50 I was already hurting to drop level appropiate gear that I could use with my build and get enough stats to not fricking melt, and it was already starting to get obnoxious and samey right there, dropped by the time I had to do the dungeon to unlock the second ascendancy. Another big factor for quitting is how MASSIVELY constrained you are with stash space if you want to keep gems, materials, and backup gear, you have to do some serious space management if you also want to keep some stuff around for vendor crafting to get better mats, and god forbid if you want to not trash a stray leggo you found.
Dropped at the moment I got a very decent magic 6slot chest and started realizing how obnoxious was going to be getting it upgraded to rare and all the slots linked plus proper colored
The game can be fun, but leveling can be extremely tiring with how underwhelming you are and very samey things start feeling, and the fact that you can (and probably will) frick your build unless you're copying someone else's build, which kind of defeats the purpose of massive customization and the experimentation it should encourage
I've been since then entertaining the idea of a lightning bll character, but the memories of leveling and inventory management really kill it
SSF is for tryhards, trade makes everything so much smoother and comfy.
Watch out bro. You'll get accused of trying to change a product that doesn't appeal to you :O
>I was already hurting to drop level appropiate gear that I could use with my build and get enough stats to not fricking melt
The trick is to prioritise resistances above all else during the campaign. Even if your chest has like 120 armour vs a 660 one you picked up, if the 120 armour has good resistances and the 660 doesn't it's way better to stay with the lower armour piece. You can use the crafting table to add resistances if it's not quite good enough, too
>storage space
Gems aren't worth keeping in stash since you can just buy them from vendors. By act 6 you'll have access to Lily Roth who sells almost every gem in the game. Similarly, you're probably keeping a bunch of shit equipment that you think is valuable but actually isn't. 6-socket body armours are vendor food unless they're on a high base with an already godly stat roll, since the hardest part by far is linking the sockets. Also, keeping decent equipment you found as backups for future character is a noob trap. With a few exceptions anything you find on one character is easy enough to find on every other character.
So, all of that is stuff to discourage new players
the people that complain about poe the most are likely to be its most dedicated players
>he's thinks bloatslop after archnem, lake of kalandra, ruthless with gold is awesome
thanks for beta testing for poe2 homosexual. enjoy all the leftover garbage that is stuck in your "separate" game kek
not sure what that means. it's just fun blowing up enemies with electricity.
something that isnt fun at all in diablo 4
Protip: If a post on Ganker contains the keyphrase "slop," it's almost guaranteed to be a shitpost trying to bait a (You) out of it.
And as such, it should be ignored.
Kinda a waste to play it now with the new season coming out soon.
Nah, when you're new it doesn't matter when you start because your time is entirely spent on learning.
ask me anything, OP
I'm the best poeg player
>this is what i thought Diablo 4 was going to be
lol enjoy it while you can, their goal is to turn the game into what diablo 4 actually is
Its fun until you hit a wall because your build is shit and you didn't immediately understand the entire passive tree at a glance and now have to wait until next season to respec.
And don't you dare respond saying "oh just farm the respec items" Im not at end game you moron. And I still don't understand the tree so even I could do it I would still be fricked.
yeah it's pretty weird how they only let you make one character per season
OH YEAH. Dont mind me. Gonna do another 20 hours of grinding the same content with the same class because I'm not allowed to respec. STFU.
>Not wanting to grind in a Grinding Gears Games arpg
you're allowed to make a new character when you get tired of your current build anon
that is literally the genre
>
Yeah. And its fun grinding for new stuff and to get further in the game. Not fun grinding for the ability to respec or to making a brand new build doing old content I've already done.
>Not fun grinding for the ability to respec
it's cheap
>or to making a brand new build doing old content I've already done
not even diablo 2 or even grim dawn lets you get away from this. making a new character for a new build and redoing old content is a genre staple.
>diablo 2
This game is older than like half of V. You can't seriously say all games need to stick to the traditions of June 2000. Any deviation from then is a mistake? It was over 23 years ago my dude.
because no one that actively plays the genre actually cares and you are trying to change a product simply because it doesn't appeal to you. you could simply just ya know, forget that these games ever exist and move on with your life.
lol. So voicing criticisms is actively trying to change a product? WTF.
I had no idea D2 fans were so sensitive to different opinions.
voicing criticisms only matter if you actually like playing the games to begin with, you clearly don't and should just find something else to do. otherwise you are just trying to turn said thing into something else.
I've spent 100 hours in the game and I would spend more if I didn't hit a brick wall in terms of progression.
If you hate doing the campaign that much are you not gonna play on the new seasons? just gonna stay with the one character forever in standard?
I like seasonal. I just don't like being locked into builds that don't work as if I'm supposed to understand exactly what I'm doing without the ability of experimentation.
I see, for me, doing different builds and seeing how they grow as I progress to endgame is the most fun part so I reroll whenever I get a new idea
I was thinking of trying it, but this sentence made me immediately drop it. The leagues and seasons are bad enough on their own, but I heard there's a mode to ignore them. One character, limited respecs? Frick that. How did something with bullshit like that get so popular?
the worst part is if you try to make a new character chris personally comes to your house and punches you in the head. it's fricked up man
So you can make more than one character at a time per season or no?
not unless you want a personal visit from chris "BFR" wilson
I wanted to like this game but why is there no auction house? I feel like they are just purposefully delaying my ability to play the game by having to manually type into chat over and over again hoping I get a response.
They should implement the same trading system for micro transactions. You have to PM a GM, meet up with him at his hideout and manually give him a certain amount of dollars from your character to his inventory. I bet that'd really help the game.
This shit is too complicated for me - I didn't know what the frick i was doing in the early beta when i played it a decade ago but managed to beat it and now it's just unrecognizable because of so many things they have added
>another shill thread
Getting tired of these tee bee aitch
PoE vs D4 is easily the cringiest of all the pathetic autist slap fights on Ganker and there are multiple threads every day now
One of the most obvious marketing campaigns I’ve ever seen here
>PoE vs D4 is easily the cringiest of all the pathetic autist slap fights on Ganker
I agree. Its just sad.
The correct match up should be either D3 V PoE, or D4 V PoE2.
will delve be in poe2, i really liked that league mechanic and now that poe2 is gonna be a separate game i'd be sad to see it gone
they seek validation or the drug doesnt kick as good
poeshills are just blizzarddrones seeking a new god
shallow
you're beyond late to the party
Oh shit, I forgot that I'm only allowed to play games that are less than a year old.
>just started
>this game is awesome
Yeah, unfortunately endgame is total cancer.
so what's like poe except not always online nor trying to get me to spend money on storage?
Grim Dawn.
nothing's quite exactly like PoE, but Grim Dawn and Last Epoch are arpg's you can play offline
Are leagues long enough for a new player to beat the game or should I start with Standard?
Leagues are 3+ months long, but the current one ends in 17 days. It's just long enough to be almost worth it to start in the current league but you won't be fighting any superbosses in that time as a new player. The campaign itself probably only takes a few days to beat blind, though. Experienced players can do it in one sitting even without rushing.
