You can also never switch to them so it's more like 3 party members with 9 arts and 9 specials (which aren't too wildly different and are either used for damage or healing and no inbetween) each

There's just 1 more character on screen at any given time because your blades are still characters moving around the scene freely.
I downloaded a high quality video cap of the game and there are reconstruction artifacts out of the ass, it looks to be 540p while docked but then it's reconstructed up to 1080p, and that's with no real discernable improvements to the graphics apart from a single extra character in your party. If I'm being honest here it looks like they actualy reduced engine optimization but improved stability of the framerate and removed the issues causing memory leaks seen in Xenoblade 2, but even that's a maybe since we are only able to see reviewer gameplay.

Like I said, it runs at a lower resolution than Xeno 2 but it's reconstructed up to 1080p, so the actual engine is now running much worse than previously.

Even PS4 isn't actually 1080p in a lot of games, people are complaining about the hardware when it's the developers not setting realistic targets for their games, and people need to remember the Tegra X1 was literally the most powerful chip available to be released in 2017 that would allow the Switch to retail below $500. Even Nintendo's next generation will be disappointing, Nvidia can't match AMDs efforts, Switch 2 will be around the power of an Xbox One but will need significantly more power than a Steam Deck giving it a much smaller battery life.
As a consolation Nvidia leaks have shown that their next Graphics API will be backwards compatible, so you could probably reconstruct it up to 1080p using DLSS, I'm doubtful a Switch Pro will be able to run Xenoblade 3 at native 1080p.
I was excited for this when it was announced but the more they show of it the less interested I get. I might just pirate this one.

So I’ve been wondering if the game has auto attack cancelling into arts, how will that work with the Keves classes? Will they have 3 auto attacks where cancelling them gives a higher damage ratio like in 2, or just one auto attack animation like in 1 and they just get a stronger boost from cancelling?
The gameplay shown thus far from media outlets hasn’t seemed to show stutter-stepping or art cancelling to my knowledge. Auto-attack cancelling is definitely in though.

That's a new one, I guess there may be some superficial "romance" in it but the characters involved are so one-dimensional that I haven't paid any attention to it until you mentioned it. I certainly don't consider it the series strong suit.

Shulk only went on his quest because of Fiora, and after he found out she was alive he did everything to get her back, it even goes the other way, when Zanza resurrects Fiora (and Meyneth) do everything to save Shulk.
For 2 it's the same thing, all the events only happen because Rex found Pyra, he went on his quest because of her request, the ending chapter is even called "And thus, boy met girl".
Personally I love some cute romance in my games, but with 3 I already hate the cat girl so it's not gonna be a cute romance story, the only way I could like this game is if she dies, but no one important dies in Xenoblade.

It seems more the former than the latter. Aside from XC2 having a little bit more goofier parts Xeno games in general have always had a somewhat grim tone in their stories. Now the Xenoblade games have had a more uplifting tone to them but they're always had serious themes to them

I haven't been following XC3 much, will it have the option to stop exp. gain like in DE or at least allow you to store and not use some exp. like in XC2? I liked being able to adjust my levels, especially with how easy the game could be if you were even a few levels above what you're fighting.

frick, looking closer it seems like you can't, Noah is currently on level 11 and the arrow is grayed on level 10, the person playing can only choose between lvl 11 and 13. Maybe the feature is unlocked later in the story or it is NG+ only or maybe I'm just dumb.
It was NG+ only in 2 but from the start in Expert Mode in 1DE. Maybe 3 has its own version of Expert Mode, or maybe it's like 2 and the feature is NG+-lock (which would suck).
I would be fine with 2's system. Unless you used the bonus exp. at the inn, I was mostly not overleveled.

I've played both XBC DE and XBC2 and have not finished either of them. I'm a completionist and these games are pure cancer for that. I don't think I'd even be exaggerating to say that they have the worst side content of any jrpg I've ever played. It's annoying cause the main stuff is fantastic and I enjoy it a lot but I always feel bothered when I miss stuff. I think I'll try DE again before 3 comes out and pretty much only do the story stuff and see where that gets me.

Like 50-60 people. They outsource a lot, though, so that doesn't mean much. Their release schedule is also bonkers. Almost every game they put out is a two year rush-job.
I'm not a big fan of how flat the terrain and the environments in general look.
But I do like the character models, which I guess are a priority.
