>enjoy roguelikes >wish we had more options >some adventurous devs are releasing new paid games and roguelike inspired stuff >buy them >commercial success draw in more devs >progressively get more, higher quality roguelikes and roguelites
I don't give a shit if you hate that trend but I've been grooming it for a decade and don't plan to stop.
free games draw whales which supports the devs better than your poor ass. pirating puts their ego in check.
>normal game >you get only 10 characters because that's the bdgets >free gam with whale-inducing mechanics >you have 100 character, they are all less interesting the the one from the paid game, also if you don't whale you'll only get to play 5 of them
Nah, it's not worth it
Its based on History
A lot of piracy happened in countries that had no access to the games they were pirating
Steam was like, let us sell them the games
Magically, piracy rates dropped
Then EGS became a thing, magically piracy rates raised
>enjoy roguelikes >wish we had more options >some adventurous devs are releasing new paid games and roguelike inspired stuff >buy them >commercial success draw in more devs >progressively get more, higher quality roguelikes and roguelites
I don't give a shit if you hate that trend but I've been grooming it for a decade and don't plan to stop.
If you want to make a gift to someone. Giving duplicated goods make you look cheap.
If a guy make me save $140 for a game I will play for 10 hours, he can have the part of the processing power I am not using for those 10 hours. We all win in this. Debate me.
I've noticed no performance setbacks despite having pirated dozens of games, literally could not care less, piratebro is free to make his 2 cents, good for him. Also I'm no computer genious but how the frick do you get someone's computer to mine crypto for you via an iso file you upload to a website?
There aren't enough good games made to justify piracy of games that developers actually try to sell to you
And honestly, pirating games on dead consoles that no effort was made to port doesn't count.
I know the bare minimum about computers so learning how to pirate without fricking up my computer is a greater cost in risk and effort than just buying games on sale.
That's fair brainlet, bro. I used to pirate and never had any issues, but even I buy most of my games these days because I have plenty of money and don't really care about wasting some of it on vidya.
It is very easy to purchase games, they cost a pittance and I can download them anytime again, while pirated copies of modern games take up a shitload of space and I'd need to re-pirate them later. I always pay for games if I think it is a good deal. If the developers are enormous homosexuals, I will pirate however, for example I pirated RE8 because they had the nerve to try and make me pay 80 bucks for it. I also always pirate console exclusives like Demons' Souls.
Because the actual cost of me playing a videogame for 40 hours is about $1300, and it's not worth putting up with all the negatives of pirating in order to save $15 of this.
>Free >Easy >Often takes less time than actually buying the game
Now give me 1 good reason not to pirate shit. And no, being a wienergobler and pretending to care about shareholders isn't a good reason.
I'm unable to enjoy something I don't own legally. I know it's dumb but it's always been like that. I can't enjoy a rented or borrowed game.
And I don't like having to keep installers, patchs, saves, etc. on a drive somewhere. Something like Steam is convenient.
Also, why should we justify something so normal as paying for entertainment ? If you're so poor that you need to make a choice between playing games or eating, you shouldn't play games until your situation gets better.
>If you're so poor
For me I just never understand why you would pay more for something that is identical in quality.
Typically when I discover a game I want to play, I will immediately go to G2A, see what price it is there, and then see if its on sale on Steam. If its above a price on either platform I would consider unreasonable, I will pirate it instead.
I can make better games and more games if I can do it all the time instead of having to spend 80% of my time wageslaving for schlomo shekelberg just so I'd have money to live.
Nah, that was always wishful thinking. Steam is as good a service as you could want, and this very thread proves that people don't give a shit, they'll just come up with some other reason why they shouldn't have to pay for things.
none because desite what people say piracy doesn't effect a company
what actually does effect it is actually people paying for second hand keys from dodgy key sites
chargebacks aren't free. You are losing money to begin with. And then when you deactivate the key you are pissing off an actual paying customer and doing little to nothing to deter the scumbag reselling keys from stolen C/Cs.

Yes. You have to assume they bought the key in good faith because you can't know that they are buttholes who are doing it just out of spite or not. Sure, lots of people are using key reselling sites to get cheap foreign gray market keys, but again, you can't "know" this for a fact.

So you grin and bear it because you think everyone else will grin and bear it and this causes the source of your misery to continue unabated. Those devs are spineless morons.
If they're buying keys for your game off a re-seller, disabling those keys WILL lead those people to buy from the source. It's not the same as a pirate who will just shrug and move on. Especially for multiplayer games, they are usually buying to play with friends and just looking for a quick discount.
