All of the characters are two dimensional and completely unlikable. I suppose you can create a good "unlikable" character but this just seems so insufferable. Also this may be subjective but the lazy rick and morty tier humor that is shoved down your throat every few seconds is unfunny and cringey.
The single player meanders so much it makes it feel like you never truly progress in a rags to riches sense.characters with few exceptions are fairly terrible. The constant introduction of one off gimmicks gets obnoxious as they are never reincorporated into the game. Somehow manages to have the problem of gameplay sections which should just be a cutscene.

Only good character is Michael. Trevor is a haha so random crazy character and Franklin is a generic lowlife gangster. Their attempts at exaggerating and making fun of the modern world was not funny once. GTA should stick to being serious. Also minor thing but screw them for false advertising and continuing to put a hot girl on the cover like she's a character and then she's not in the game. A big part of being a big time criminal/power fantasy is fricking hot girls, I don't want to frick trashy hookers.

Existence of guns like machine gun mk2 make other weapons worthless and game balance feels like you're supposed to own that gun and use it against them
Unlike pre 8th gen GTAO at least we had weapons to choose from instead of being forced to use single overpriced overpowered weapon for every single missions

social commentary is a staple for GTA and it really went down the drain in V. the only somewhat good thing was trevor's talk about how torture doesn't work
I dont hate it. It's literally the pinnacle of gta as far as gameplay goes but with actually good controls. My hate boner with it is how shitty aiming and movement feels on keyboard and mouse and is probably the only pc game I have that I'll play with a controller short of state of decay so I don't shit on my Xbox friends when we're playing that not to mention the shitty fact of having to buy it twice at all because lol it's funny to rerelease things later and on top of that the single player money grind was painful
It's the best game ever made and is only looked down on because it's the latest entry.

IV with an original accompanying soundtrack inside missions like V has would be amazing.
It's been like ten years since we've gotten a new GTA because of the milking of online gameplay

Happened like 7 times over the years already, at least one time I installed some fun Iron Man mods but the game would crash if you tried to do some missions, and you can't even mod it anymore because Steam got rid of the original versions. I should probably just replay Gay Tony at this point but it still somehow feels incorrect to just jump to it without going through IV again even if it's a dogshit slog of a game.
Music is fricking good. The oc soundtrack is pure gold (DJ Shadow and Tangerine Dream anyone?). Story is as flat as any other GTA. Good engine, but gameplay lacks immersiveness- it's a pretty arcadey experience. Online is a milking factory.
It's worth 2 playthroughs, then get a trainer and have fun with mods and such.
The game that ruined Rockstar as a company. Took something that should've been parody (shark cards) and rolled with it. Now every game from here on by them will be ruined because of this one decision.
