Looking in the archives almost everyone's ">" list starts with lily and ends with shizune. Even outside of Ganker.
It's biased, because people who like lily and shizune are also the kind that enjoy making lists. Another example of bias would be artgays drawing way more of Hanako than anyone else.

My only parting advice is that it will feel like the list of shit you have to get done just keeps growing and growing but this slows down and in actuality you have plenty of time to tackle almost everything.

I don't really remember, I played this 10 years ago. Maybe it was just regarding Shizune and Hanako. I do remember Hanako basically learns to stand on her own in Lily's route without all the drama of her own route and Shizune makes up with Lily. I guess maybe there was nothing for Rin and Emi after all.
Guess at some point liking Lily route cause 3 characters gets their issues resolved as opposed to the just the main girl in each of the other routes got warped into all of them having a happy ending in my head.
Her route is undoubtedly the worst written. It's Mary Sue garbage that completely misses the point that the other routes were going for. Even Shizune's shitty route was better in that regard. They were trying to show characters that had depth and flaws beyond their disabilities. Lilly is shown as practically perfect and her whole route is shitty fluff. There is no depth, just a 'waifu.'

For me, it's Shizune. I get she's not the most popular, and her route wasn't the best written (largely because her writer was shit and couldn't be bothered half the time), but there's just something about a headstrong woman. Her subtle nudges to get Hisao to open up and leading to the fireworks scene just won me over.
I like Shizune too. It was actually the lack of sappy romance stuff in her route that made me appreciate her.

I did every route when I had no internet and just this game. At that point I was genuinely mentally broken.
Any way. Lilly is the best. I did her route multiple times. Her sister is cool too. Lilly felt real. I've never been on a date or really courted someone.
Rin was weird. Very autistic and I don't think I could handle that for reelz. Same with Hanukkah. She is too much work.
Shizune was weird. It had a good arc but the side characters were odd. The sex scene was interesting
I can't remember the legless name. She was fine. Felt very standard and like you should get her first. Running seems natural in that situation.
