MGS2 was never meant to have a direct sequel
it was for all intents and purposes the end of the series timeline and kojimbo didn't want to continue past it
that's why 3 is a prequel
that's why both 4 and 5 are a fricking mess storywise

well, i just think of how everything in 4 turned into NANOMACHINES SON. there's really no way 5 couldve ever been good or satisfying.
It's a shame this series got so obsessed with Big Boss post mgs3, he's a fun and interesting character but the series was never about him. He had a tragic story and then he died, the stuff he did effected some people and made them do things after his death, but it was never about him. But from mgs4 onwards everything HAD to be heavily related to Big Boss.
It's a shame, since I love Solid Snake and Otacon. I would have love to see them get more games, but mgs3 was super popular and kojima really like writing for BB for some reason so now every game post 4 had to be about him.
And I see a lot of people saying their favourite snake is BB and calling Solid boring and saying he doesn't have much personality and that his emotions are fake because he's a clone, which makes me sad because David is just as human as everyone else and is such a great character. No one ever acts like Liquid and Solidus don't have real emotions since they're clones, so why do they for Solid? Even Kojima seems to think that and he wrote the fricking character, did he just forget what he wrote?!

Solidus. He's also the most badass becuase he has a doctor octopus suit and uses swords and a P90, the only way he could be more badass is if they gave him a SPAS-12.
+1, but it's unlikely he would have even survived long enough in MGS4, he was already old by MGS2 and needed the suit to fight really, so knowing the frickery Liquid was doing in MGS4, chances are he would have died by the end of Act 1.
I pray everyday for this franchise to get revived by a young upstart Japanese stud.
